That was spectacular! One of my favorite shades of all. Every time I put off a shoe dyeing project, I'm glad I did because I learn something new from every one of your videos. And the shine is so deep in those you can see the future..... Lol. Well done!
Tank you Preston for this amazing video. With your guidance I was able to repaint my light brown Chelsea boots to a rich burgundy colour and they look amazing. If it wasn’t for you I would probably make a lot of senseless mistakes and I doubt the paint job would end up looking so good. You are one of the best out there, thank you for your dedication and have a great day. Kind regards from Czech Republic.
U r the best mate. You make it look so damn easy but it's because the passion and amount of hardwork that has gone in reaching this phase of absolute perfection. Pure relaxation.
Peace Preston - Long time viewer, first time responder. I just want to thank you for such great content. You have revitalized my affinity for not just shining my shoes, but taking the time to achieve the beauty of elegance. Your humble spirit is refreshing my friend. I'm starting a channel myself soon. I wonder if you wouldnt mind talking me through some initial thoughts.
wanted to know how to shine my oxblood brogues because of all the little holes and stuff didnt want gunky wax filling them up etc and found this great channel keep it up
Hey Preston, now that you've perfected/refined your mirror shine technique, it would be interesting to see another comparison between Saphir and Kiwi products, particularly for the budget minded. I recall one of the big benefits of Saphir was not only the quality of the shine, but also the speed with which you could bring it up. Would Kiwi benefit from the new technique as well? Thanks!
Hi Preston, I really enjoyed that and that colour has a touch of elegance. The last video you did of a mirror shine did help a lot as it was so simple to understand, cheers for that👌🏽 You mentioned that you add about 8-9 layers of wax to the shoe, is that just the toe cap part or the entire shoe? How do you avoid cracking of wax where the shoe flexes, I've always had that problem? Thanks
I think your passion will bring back the culture of sartorialism in men. Keeping your wardrobe and presenting your best self. "A shoe is not only a design, but it's a part of your body language, the way you walk. The way you're going to move is quite dictated by your shoes." By Christian Louboutin
Was the Bordeaux a polish or a cream? Working on a project of my own. Is it better to use a shoe cream, then wax for the mirror shine? Thank you, love the videos sir.
I thought the cardinal shoe shine sin was waxing everything but the toe cap and heel? Don't get me wrong, these look amazing, but what happens after the first step, when the vamp flex cracks the wax? Unless this is just good lighting, or for show. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
As long as you avoid creases and flex points you’ll be fine. Only you can know where that is on your personal pairs. I made sure to avoid them where I saw them. On the off chance there is some cracking, just brush it off or use a hair dryer to even it out.
Hello Preston! I've really enjoyed the many hours I've spent watching your videos. I would like to know if it is better to strip the shoe before trying to mirror polish, or can it successfully be done on top of a factory finish? I suspect that the longer process will yield better results, but I had to ask, because, you know....lazy!
Awesome video as always. I have a question for you I bought a pair of G.H. Bass Weejuns it seems to have a coating on the leather is there any way to remove it so it will take leather care products shoes are black by the way.
To see your reflection in the toe of the shoe, I just had to reply..." Cool". They may shine about as good as " Patent Leather". The small patch of "Black " was the highlight.
I’m going to re-dye a pair of cognac Magnanni double monk strap shoes to this color with a mirror shine with all Saphir products except the dye which will be Feiblings. Wish me luck.
I have a pair of Belvedere Cognac colored shoes I accidentally cleaned off part of the wax on trying to fix a scuff, do I have to completely strip it to fix the parts I cleaned too much or can I just add more wax and rebuff it? And if I strip it will it remove the color to where I have to redye it like you did or will colored wax be enough to bring it back?
This is gonna be hard. Because the boots are already green, adding burgundy dye will turn the boots brownish. I don’t know if there’s realistically a way to do it unless you remove the green first, which I don’t think is possible
Does the dye come off on anything it contacts? I want to dye some used leather shoes that miraculously fit me. But I'll be sad if I find everything they touch turns the dye color.
Hey Preston, I've been having trouble with my mirror shines, every time I dab my finger on the dispenser and polish, it clouds over and even clumps. I usually use medium force when I do this. Why does this happen? For the record I don't use too much water. A light dab at best.
Can someone advise me on how to remove shine from a shoe? I have a pair of 'too shiny' new leather basket weave type summer slip ons and I want them dull. Does acetone work for this?
Is ox blood more brownish red? I want to get my boots back close to what they was in beginning. Not expecting perfection. Never mind, I think now by watching all the video this is the look.
Loved it. Burgundy is my favorite color.
Polishing and taking care of your own shoes is so underrated.
I agree ☝🏻
Just spectacular. Maybe the best looking pair of shoes you’ve done yet!!
Wow thank you!
If they were my shoes I would be very happy!! I have always liked that color also! Well done Preston
Thanks Jeff!
Замечательный формат видео! Все объяснили и показали ! Очень нравится ваш канал!! Удачи и всего доброго!!!Жду с нетерпением следующего видео!
Unbelievable mirror shine. Awesome!!!!
Another great video by Preston. What a nice way to sit down and relax on a wet and windy Saturday morning

I love the color of these. Great job!
Great job Preston. The shoes look amazing. Thanks for sharing this video.

By far the best hue you've done on a shoe
Thanks! It’s growing on me for sure

Wow how fantastic do these look. I prefer red tones to purple. Great work. I've learned how to shine shoes watching your videos
You make it look so annoyingly easy. Nice work Preston, thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge.
Thanks Joe! Appreciate it
Another great video Preston. Beautiful job!
Thanks Sam!
I can see my soul in your mirror shines.
Either colour, that’s a lovely finish on a nice pair of shoes.
Thanks David!
They look beautiful! Great job Preston.
Thanks!
Wow!!! Love them. Rubbing alcohol is certainly a new trick I need to try.
It’s so helpful. Yeah give it a try
As always, soothing to watch! Can't wait for the next one, Preston!!!
Thanks for watching
Hey Preston, Great video! Roughly how long did it take you to do the acetone treatment?
About 10 minutes
Great question.
Great color. Good job as always. Thanks for sharing
They look amazing!!! Great job! I know the owner will love them!!!
I hope so too!

Lovely work
Wow - gorgeous
Those shoes are to “dye”for!
☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻
Ah ah aaaah I see what you did there ... clever.
Good one, Al.
Excellent 👍👍👍
Superb . Thanks you for sharing skill . I will definitely try this, its so hard to find oxblood and I love the colour . Thank you
Just loved this. I think I like the burgundy more than the oxblood. The oxblood in one of your prior videos was way too red.
Thanks for watching
Another great video. You've inspired me. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Always a great job
Thanks!
Nice work, and thanks for the product tips!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching
Gorgeous!
Thanks!
Wonderful !! Absolutely.
Thanks 🙏
Preston, I use a candle warmer every time I use the wax. I remember you once tried to use the stovetop.
That’s a good idea too
Such beautiful work! I have the same shoes: Edward Green Inverness. Could I send them to you to have the same job done?
Amazing! Why didn't you use a leather conditioner after stripping with acetone?
Awesome vid man!!
The gloss leaves are incredible😎
Thanks 👍🏻
Those shoe came out great. I wanna see a park avenue ox blood shine though. Great shine however

In this video he shines his Dad's Ox Blood Park Avenues.
Like always you done it your self the look amazing thank you so much for sharing you make it look easy 🤔🤙🏼👌🏼
Thanks for your continued support
Beautiful job 👌❤
Thanks 😊
Beautiful
Wow ! Wow! Wow! Wow. !!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
For the natural colors to be displayed on the screen I would suggest using different types of Lights, I'd love to see the natural color as well.
It's an unintended ASMR video !
Hi Preston, great work. Why you did not use a conditioner to moisture and nourish the leather after using acetone? Is adding show cream enough?

Preston, awesome job. Did you also use conditioner prior to applying the polish?
No i did not. That came after
Hi there! Preston, I hope everything's ok. A project like that, do you apply leather shampoo? Before redying the shoes?
Amazing!
Thanks!
Awesome
Thanks for sharing Preston. Can I use acetone to dilute the dye ? Rubbing alcohol is in short supply these days. Thanks

I hope one day you do a whole re dye of a purple shoe
That’s coming up for sure. Purple is great 👍🏻
These videos are mesmerizing. Whatever happened to penny loafers? Arent those burgundy?
Hey, Billy! Yes, the classic penny loader was burgundy.
Are you using nail polish remover?
no renovateur after the acetone? has the shoe cream been enough?
To see your reflection in the toe of the shoe, I just had to reply..." Cool". They may shine about as good as " Patent Leather". The small patch of "Black " was the highlight.

Random question... if I wanted to change to color of sole from black to brown how do you go about stripping that color?
I’m going to re-dye a pair of cognac Magnanni double monk strap shoes to this color with a mirror shine with all Saphir products except the dye which will be Feiblings. Wish me luck.
Wonderfull. I wonder if i can use the rubbing alcohol + water on my shell cordovan for the hi shine too ?
Yes you definitely could.
@@TheElegantOxford Thank you for the answer. Will try next time it crack!
How much water to rubbing alcohol ratio?
Can I use ox blood polish on burgundy shoes.
are these on the 888 last or 82 ?

I need some sunny D shoe dye
Now I know the difference between Oxblood and Burgundy!
I’m glad the video helped
i have an oxford shoes... The Color is ( Yellow Beige) i want to change to nice brown not very dark... What Dry Color should i use? Th.you
Hello, what dye would you suggest to dye my synthetic green suede boots burgundy?
This is gonna be hard. Because the boots are already green, adding burgundy dye will turn the boots brownish.
I don’t know if there’s realistically a way to do it unless you remove the green first, which I don’t think is possible
Hello, would really like to have your services on a pair of Fifth Avenues. Excellent video as always!
Hey, Ryan! I would love to work on your shoes but I’m currently booked solid for months. Email me and we can talk. Thanks!
@@TheElegantOxford Will do!
I was wondering....can you gentle heat shoe polish to melt the broken pieces so that they melt together and form a new solid polish????
Yes you definitely can. I don’t do it often anymore but it’s an option
Does the dye come off on anything it contacts? I want to dye some used leather shoes that miraculously fit me. But I'll be sad if I find everything they touch turns the dye color.
Bravo!
Thanks!

Do you have a list of the products you use for restorations? I’d like to get into this.
I have a video about the basics of a shoe shine kit. It’ll help you get what you need.
Can someone advise me on how to remove shine from a shoe? I have a pair of 'too shiny' new leather basket weave type summer slip ons and I want them dull. Does acetone work for this?
Where can I buy some of the dye you were using in this video? The same colour you were using.
I buy mine locally at a cobbler shop but they can be purchase anywhere like eBay or amazing. It’s Angelus in cordovan
I want to do it ,but is not easy thank you
Is ox blood more brownish red? I want to get my boots back close to what they was in beginning. Not expecting perfection. Never mind, I think now by watching all the video this is the look.
Oxblood is true red with some darker tones. A mix of red and brown would be mahogany
Question: What sort of tool would you use to remove build up in the brogues?
A soft rubber tooth pick. They sell them at Walmart for people with braces.
The perfect reducer is a mix of 85-90% etanol and 10-15% isopropanol...you should try it ...nice result aniway 😉
Can I use acetone on brown stacy Adams and attempt this using the same products you used?
..
Amazing! How about a link for those butyl gloves on Amazon. (I went to look but didn't find anything like a dozen for $10.)
Here we go
www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008L6YGE6?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
They went up in price but I bought them last year
Do you do this for a living now?
What color was that at 6:55 on the toe? (Was it Black or still just Bordeaux?)
It was black
very nice
Thanks Eric
Hi, can you clean and buff my widows Louis Vuitton handbag?
Sure! Email me
Is it possible to turn a pair of Dark brown tassel loafers into burgundy??
Yes! It can definitely be done
Fantastic job Preston. I am interested in having some work done by you, what is the best way to contact you?
You can email me but I’m currently booked for a couple of months. I’d love to work on your shoes though
How many coats of dye do you typically do?
Usually 2 but sometimes 3. That’s all that’s really needed
