    I love the fact you've been inspired by the patina on your brother's guitar. As a woodworker (and a guitarist) I see the correlation between the patina and character of dyed timber, and that of polished leather: both share similarities. Long may he Elegant Oxford continue.
    Peace and Love.

    This channel inspired me to pursue my own interest for working with leather during the lockdown.
    Now, after some time building my skills, and an impressive shoe collection I amassed in the process, I finally moved to do this exact job on a pair of tan oxfords. They are beautiful, but I fear using them and getting some damage!
    I am about to make a second pair to use on special events and a pair of boots.

    Here we go again. First it was bicycle restoration videos. My old Hardrock is now restored. Then it was custom and vintage axes. On to boiling and refinishing a Spanish Mauser rifle stock. Now I have to get all my 45 year old boots out and do some custom work on them.
    An inspiring job on those shoes. Takes me back to sitting with my Father polishing Sunday shoes Military MP style. It was Kiwi and the cold water. That was in 1966 or so. I also saw your leather briefcase video, if you what to try something different, look on Ebay for vintage leather ammunition pouches. Thanks for the tips, tricks and inspiration.

    • @RenovationFarmhouse
      @RenovationFarmhouse 4 года назад

      I used acetone to strip away layers of walnut polish I applied over approximately 2 years. It’s like not washing your car for 2 years and finally removing all the dirt and grime that has been accumulating. No doubt some of the original finish was stripped off too, but my goal was to have a cleaned and uniform surface to apply the conditioner. It all worked out!

    • @JamalPhoenix
      @JamalPhoenix 4 года назад

      @@ryongraf6465 it really doesn't matter if the factory finish is removed tbh, once you add a a few extra layers of creme and wax the shoe looks great. I only use acetone sparingly maybe like once every 6-8 months it's only used for buildup not regular maintenance.
