Are you sure your not a magician because you just did some magic on all those shoes Sir awesome job Steve you are the man I absolutely love your channel I could watch you all day every day. Now let's continue. I pray May God bless you and your family and Keep you all safe.
The Shell Cordovan owner has to be ecstatic! He traded garbage and $485.00 and got in return a $850.00 pair of shoes that are 99% as good as new!! Sign me up!! The other shoe while beautifully down may not reflect the same savings but you've restored the uppers from the grave, and rebuilt with a sole and heel that will be tougher and give longer service than a brand new pair!! Amazing job Steve and thanks for the lesson!!
Steve, you may not know how much your video's are appreciated in these very hard times. It takes my mind off the current pandemic for 20 minutes. I can sit in my chair and not think about anything else for just a little while and watch you bring back 2 pairs of shoes from the edge of the trash. Thank you for persevering and offering some respite. Hammertime! May you and yours be safe and healthy.
Steve, loved the video. So, a few years ago I ruined a pair of brown Allen Edmonds Cornwallis by walking through some salty snow/slush. I was devastated! I happened upon your original video of restoring water damaged uppers and went through EVERY step. It did the job. The stains were gone. But then I made a mistake and used a shoe leather dye and literally painted it on. It looked horrible. And to make matters worse, upon flexing, the dye started to peel off. Anyway, I let be for almost 3 years. A few days ago, I stripped off the dye/paint with some brake cleaner and applied some Saphir renovator, brown shoe polish and wax. Man, did it bring back the colour and the shoes look great. Thank you for your tips on how to restore the water damage. I will probably have them recrafted by a local cobbler and get new soles.
Thank goodness...seeing your video is a needed change from current news. NO HAMMERTIME🙀🥰🥰🥰 You have really been working on your shop. So neat and tidy. Fabulous transformation of the shoes. Amazing.
Thanks Steve you are a star, please take care keep safe and thank you for you kind words at the end of your video, all our very best wishes from lockdown Reading England 🏴 x❤️👵🏻sue & 👴🏻Andy.
No need to apologize. I enjoy the leather trouble shooting and treatment videos. It’s most applicable to us because we can use these technique ourselves. I don’t think I’m going to attempt a resole any time soon.
I especially liked this project. I got into watching shoe repair videos like yours to learn about leather and how to take care of my leather golf shoes. You can imagine the stuff golfers walk through: wet grass in the morning, all the pesticides and chemicals used, etc. So far I have avoided the need for a Swedish bath, but that is an interesting process I may want to try someday.
I think you sold yourself short with how you described the outcomes here...BIG TIME...those Alden shells look amazing, and the whole color scheme on them between the uppers and soles is eye candy. Plus, if those AE's didn't have any of the slight wrinkles in them from wear, I'd have thought they were brand new out of the box! Continue to stay safe and healthy during this time, and thanks for the great content!
I happen to a pair of shoes that need a Swedish bath. I am glad that you shared this knowledge because I really do want to care well for my leather shoes.
No Hammer time? Hah!!! I made my own hammer time. Tapped a large can of butane on the bar top. Excellent video. Going to need to watch this a few more times to get it all down.
great job with the brief case was the owner pleased , it looked great maybe he thought you are a time traveller went back 60 years and bought a new briiefcase , your work is the best Ive ever seen , you should advertise yourself as a Consultant !!! well done Steve
Awsome job Steve, when I was in high school I was in the JROTC program and we had problems with the salt build up but never realized that rain water could be the cause, we thought it was our styles and techniques in shinning our shoes and boy did we have some weird concoctions. You're doing a great job in educating everyone in proper shoe care and I wish I had this video 40 years ago, LOL. After 6 years in the USMC I to this day do my spit shine ritual with kiwi and water instead of spit and get that 12 inch ruler mirror shine. Thank you for sharing and caring for all us viewers. God bless.
Thanks Steve! I was searching your videos last week because I knew you had a video on this, but it took me awhile to find it. I had salt on my hiking boots, and the internet's favorite vinegar treatment didn't take care of it. But this technique seems to have done the trick!
I have a pair of black leather boots that I wore in 4 inches of wet slushy snow while pushing a legless man in a wheelchair across a salt-treated parking lot. (It’s a long story.)This caused a huge white salt residue stain around both boots. I immediately went home and cleaned them with white vinegar. Then conditioned and polished them. That was twenty years ago and they still look as good as new. My dad taught me how to take care of my shoes. I used to polish his shoes every Saturday night so that they would be ready for Sunday morning church.
Yes, I have used the white vinegar and water trick too but not to the extent of soaking them and then wrapping them in paper towels and a plastic bag for a few days. Wonder what Steve would say about the vinegar method?
I strangely immediately keep on clicking these video's, I looooove making things. Instead of a scientist I should've been an engineer. And this is sooo relaxing to watch, thanks!
Rance, what does the acetone exactly do to the leather? Seems like it would strip the dye. I just don’t understand what it does? Thanks for your advice.
Interesting. I have worked on several uppers that had water and salt stains and I just stripped the waxes with Renomat, used Saphir Salt Stain formula on the water stains, after dried, Cleaned with Saddle Soap, then when dried I used Saphir Conditioner and let soak and dry for 2-3 days and done. Back to new. But I love watching how others approach things differently as one never knows when they will come across a scenario where the formula they normally use, doesn't work. Just another alternative approach to accomplishing the same thing.
Hello Steve, I was born in Toronto and walked through tons of salty slush. I thought my shoes were ruined but a friend told me to apply vinegar by wiping a vinegar soaked rag onto the salt stains and within five minutes the salt stains were gone. Well maybe half an hours but it works. All the best, Edgar
Your name isn't Steve. It's MERLIN! You are a regular magician, sir! Today, I wore a decent pair of cowboy boots to work on a rainy day, and got some salty water stains on them. They deserved better. Many thanks for another informative and entertaining video!
Damn Steve, that final product was really something else. Really incredible work man. Stay healthy out there too. As it gets hotter, the spreading of the virus will slow down dramatically and things will get back to normal again.
and yet here we are one year later, because the Pandemic is not being eradicated due to people no doing the vaccine, new mutations and variants are growing and WILL continue forever, as long as the virus is left to multiply. Numbers are peaking higher than that of a year ago. Incredible. For anti-vaxxers. I am so thankful scientists developed vaccines for: Tuberculosis, Smallpox, Measles, Mumps, Polio, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis, Diphtheria, Chickenpox, Pneumococcal Disease, just to name a few. I'll betcha, some of these you've never heard of. RIGHT!! Why? Because the world didn't want loved ones dying and agreed to get vaccinated when the good scientists worked so hard to create them!!!!!!!! Much of these have been wiped out. But in the old days, millions were crippled, paralyzed and died from these diseases. We will have Covid 19 and its many mutated friends as long as people make this thing political. Jesus Christ people! Come on!!! PS I didn't bring up vaccines on this video. I am responding to the vlogger and Internet Police. Thank you everyone for being patient and unselfish to help others stay alive!!
These babied? ......you can bring anything back.....even from the dead. A good scrub and the Bedo’s touch and tips too. Very very good job Steve.I love the tips, it fancies them up and looks smart.
Glad to see you. Keep safe to. Here in Europe its heavy. They talk about losing the year... pffff like 2020 will nothing be happening except staying at home and survive... big hugs and stay safe...
Great video and Public Service Announcement. Thanks Steve for all you do and who you are. Love this video on removing water stains. Would love a little more details on the products that you use and trust. Quality shoes need quality product.
This was a great project, the customer will be very pleased I'm sure. I'm glad you still have customers. We down under are closed, in lockdown. only essential services. Work from home. Catch phrase, stay the f *** home , stay in your area (neighborhood), stay in your bubble ( family in your house) . No cars on the street. No flour at the market. Little foot traffic, its ppl getting exercise. 1 has died , 500 sick. Stay safe Steve , this thing is a major., but you'll know this! Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Take care....bleach the sole of the shoes...lol
Hey Steve, greetings from Valley Mills, Texas would you please explain in a video the difference of what you do and that of a typical cobbler. I watch several different cobblers videos and while they are very good you still blow them away. God gave you an abundance of talent. Thanks for all the cool videos, you the man!
Helpful tips in this video. I knew a time as a lady leaving the job and it was a down pour of rain, off came my leather shoes and popped on the ugly shoes to wear. No way was I going to let that water ruin my shoe, lol
Love the soles on both shoes. The side views of the uppers and soles outstanding. P.S. Thanks again for more knowledge being passed on by a Master Craftsman!
I’ve been traveling in the Midwest for years...ruined several pairs of Allen Edmunds in the snow and ice. Wish I would have know how to do this years ago!
You did a FANTASTIC job !! Man I wish you lived near me I’ve got a vintage purse that I love that has some water stains on it and I would love to get those out of it . I believe it’s calf leather .
As a chemist, I would not recommend putting pure acetone into the red plastic cup. Two reasons. One: Acetone evaporates quickly in open containers. Two: Acetone is likely to dissolve the plastic cup or extract plasticizers from the plastic. Plasticizers can be transferred into your body by the acetone, and they can cause cancer or worse Reduce Testosterone levels, as most plasticizers are estrogen-like compounds.
i was thinking it would be great if you had a permanent webcam on all the time, but then I realised that I would get nothing done in my life lol, 24hr bedos sounds great
I just found your channel and I really enjoy your videos. You do some amazing work. This just goes to show you need to wear your sneakers too and from work and leave your nice dress shoes at your desk!
Great work, Steve! I'm amazed how they both turned out! I'm looking forward to sending you one of my pairs of AE when the time comes no matter the cost! I'm a long time watcher so having one of my pairs worked on by you and having the Bedo's stamp would make them a trophy in my eyes!

Pure. Cosmetic. Surgery!!! You did WORK!! Good job!
I appreciate the “no hammer time” warning. I finished the video anyhow.... really enjoyable.

You can see on the paper towel when you remove it that where it was touching thestained area - the paper towel is now discolored. Great technique!

It's little short of insane the difference you have made to these shoes. Man they look new again. I'm so impressed, from NZ.

Hi Steve, nice work...👍.
Loved the contrasting colours on the mid sole...👍.
Another great transformation--nice to see these positive videos during these difficult times. And your shop looks immaculate! Stay well and be well.
Those shoes look really great! You are a miracle worker! Stay safe!

Your work on those shoes blew my mind, so beautiful! Really enjoyed watching.
A 50/50 mix of acetone and denatured ethyl alcohol makes a very good solvent. You should get both at Home Depot.
As always you are a genius at work!
Rance, what does the acetone exactly do to the leather? Seems like it would strip the dye. I just don’t understand what it does? Thanks for your advice.
Wow, I can't believe how nice they came out, just amazing. You do great work.

I like this video the best. Not all the bragging and acting weird. I enjoyed this format. Oh, great job!
Thanks for the video, I learned something. Both pairs of shoes look great, and no they do not look like plastic.

Saw these pictures on IG and I thought wow! I'm glad you made a video, stay well mate!
Impressed, AGAIN! Y'all stay safe, Steve!
Steve, you are a master. Thanks for bringing us along.
Great video. It’s cool to see the different repairs that you undertake. Appreciate the attention to detail.

Those are two beautiful restorations, Steve! Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed watching it since I'm trapped inside!
You are so amazing! I just wonder the mechanism behind water damage and why it disappeared after brushing with your ingredients.
We appreciate your videos! We like that the subject matter changes up. It’s all good!
What an incredible restoration. I'm very sorry your business is paying the toll of this virus. Stay safe.
Wow, man! Considering how they were before, you left them looking amazing!!!!

New watch? Very nice. Awesome job on these beat up old shoes.
Good job, and good advice Steve! You take care too.
Very interesting. First time I have seen a procedure like this.
I’ve been traveling in the Midwest for years...ruined several pairs of Allen Edmunds in the snow and ice. Wish I would have know how to do this years ago!
As always a FANTASTIC JOB.
Omg . You didnt just bring the shoes a little back . They were a bad case of * CLEARRRR!!* awesome job . They look brand new . 😁

Outstanding work as always Steve! Stay safe. Best wishes to you and yours!
Great video for water damage of both calfskin and shell.

I once put acetone in a plastic cup and the cup's bottom dissolved... Fortunately, I only tried that once.
Those look fantastic. The calf skin looks almost like new leather.

My fantasy is to get a pair of vintage Florsheim Imperials on eBay and have you do your magic. Awesome "video tape" :)
So cool and amazing-- as usual! Could you do a video on your competitions and prize cups you have in the lobby?
Steve, I’d love to hear about using hot wax on sole edges and heels. My cobbler does it and the results are spectacular!
The calf shoes look almost brand new...
Steve is a MAGA boy and a right wing conspiracy promoter
