I love how he emphasizes "A Little Longer". He has such a unique way of singing and it is so one of a kind. He is the whole package , love the hair and the white pants. geez.
What is wonderful is hearing all the different versions of the same song. The tempo, voice inflections, vocal quality, styling, facial expressions, and body language create a fresh nuance with every performance. Steve never seemed mechanical. Here he almost seems to sing it shyly-an endearing performance.
Now I remember why I grew up liking white jeans/pants on guys and long hair. hah! Love this vid. reminds me of when I was a kid....good quality. Steve is wonderful....and check out the 'fro!! Love it!!!!
I Love this it is just so clear the sound is Awesome. I wish Steve Perry would hurry up with his new album he's been talking about. @ 64 he is still going strong and still as handsome as ever
This is my favorite song of all time. No one else could have performed it like this ever. As for Steve, what a sexy unbelievable performance. His hair never looked better. I keep playing this over and over, hoping he will come to life and its all real again ❤
@1975Journeyfan I do appreciate the first three albums with Perry. The addition of Jonathan Kane was an attribute, and with his song writing collaborations with Perry, created their transitional sound in 1981.
Steve Perry should never have cut his hair. The man is gorgeous here, with his hair longer. But that voice... no one can sing like he does. But Journey certainly did the best they could with Armin P. And they had to go to the Philippines to find him.
In my opinion, I think he looks really tired here... but you can't blame him, Journey was performing 6 out of 7 days of the week! His eyelids look really sleepy and you guys know how your voice changes when you get exhausted!
So, they played this song two times during that show, at the beginning and at the end of the show. That's why Steve looked tired and his voice had cracked a bit.
This is so early in the game he may have had a case of the nerves. Cant believe his voice cracked but from how still he was on stage and how he held that mic stand so much I think he was having nerve issues here. Lot of pressure as he was still very much the new guy and had to win over people and the band too !
steve's voice is different and more severe than normal, steve that era had a voice sweeter and louder and he could reach the notes. It is not what we see and hear in this video. But Steve Perry is also a human being.
everyday i always hoping that someday i sing a song with him but to late to do that because my idol has pass away and arnel pineda continue what he started and he is so amazing because he caught a voice of our idol steve perry
@butrfly1023 Thats not true at all. you want to hear fast tempo click on any videos or any of journeys live albums and they are stupidly fast. this is the only good recording of Wheel in the sky worth a crap.
Oh' sorry dear arnel =husky/masculine/tenor voice. Aerosmith(I dont wanna miss a thing) Four non-blonde(What's up) Survivor songs,Led zep(Black dog), Heart(Alone),bon jovi songs, guns n roses. He sings all their songs even better w/ his HUSKY voice. Steve may only good as a power ballad but in a rock genre.. no sorry.. i love steve but i more love a total performer who knows how to rock on stage. Godbless!
I love how he emphasizes "A Little Longer". He has such a unique way of singing and it is so one of a kind. He is the whole package , love the hair and the white pants. geez.
Steve sounds tired, and yet he sounds way better than ANY live performances nowadays, and it's sad. . . way to rock it exhausted Steve!
Now THIS is music!
He continues to amaze me. No one will ever measure up to him.
That high note at 2:21 leaves me breathless...did the gates of heaven open up???

The best live version of this song I've ever heard. Fantastic!
Arnel is a great singer, Steve Perry was a magestic singer!!!!
My favorite Journey song. Even when Steve's voice cracks at 2:39, it just shows the purity of great rock and roll.
I can imagine the conversation with himself in his head.
"Steve wth"
"Shut up, I'll fix it"
*Sings harder*
Flawless performance!!👍👍👍👍
Now I remember why I grew up liking white jeans/pants on guys and long hair. hah! Love this vid. reminds me of when I was a kid....good quality. Steve is wonderful....and check out the 'fro!! Love it!!!!
Yes, this is very HQ! It almost seems like it was filmed yesterday; either that or I'm back in the 70s! Thanks for posting this awesome live version.
dog steve is hitting some notes!!
I Love this it is just so clear the sound is Awesome. I wish Steve Perry would hurry up with his new album he's been talking about. @ 64 he is still going strong and still as handsome as ever
Such a smooth silky voice. Steve Perfection.
I'm not ashamed to say. I'm not gay. but his voice is angelic. the best voice I've ever heard.
It's okay. You can totally be gay for Steve Perry's voice.
Anyone who lived late 70's early 80's would appreciate this video!! He's HOT!!!!
No lip syncing here folks! Just straight thru the mic.
This is the best recorded version of of this in existence....because it's live, for one, and they freakin' nail it.
Bad ass vid. Looks like 2 ppl dont have ears for good music. Awesome quality!! Freakin song rocks!!
This is my favorite song of all time. No one else could have performed it like this ever. As for Steve, what a sexy unbelievable performance. His hair never looked better. I keep playing this over and over, hoping he will come to life and its all real again ❤
His voice blows me away everyday! haha :D ♥SP
Fantastic video, thanks. I love Steve's hair, he is so gorgeous... great band, I would like live in the 80's ;(
*“For Tomorrow....”*
I would have loved being an engineer on the midnight special.
I know that if you performed on "The Midnight Special" stipulation was no lipsinking, this is purely live! And Journey performed very very well live!
Great voice!!!
I'm a puddle......plain and simple....Steve Perry...!!. He's going to be 65 next month. I"ll take him.
Magical voice
great video quality thanks for posting! long live Journey!
He resembles Audrey Hepburn. Love them both!
G O D could he sing!!! Sigh......:-D
Great video...so clear!
Oh geez, somebody hand me a pillowcase..a napkin is not big enough...SUPER SUPER quality! I could almost reach out and grab Steve... :-)
@1975Journeyfan

In my opinion, I think he looks really tired here... but you can't blame him, Journey was performing 6 out of 7 days of the week! His eyelids look really sleepy and you guys know how your voice changes when you get exhausted!
And I was not born yet. What a miss.
So, they played this song two times during that show, at the beginning and at the end of the show. That's why Steve looked tired and his voice had cracked a bit.
Too bad the sound isn't HIGH Q!!...still listenable.
LOL, Neal's hair!
title's right, VERY HIGH Q !
Damn! Look at Neal Schons afro!
This is so early in the game he may have had a case of the nerves. Cant believe his voice cracked but from how still he was on stage and how he held that mic stand so much I think he was having nerve issues here. Lot of pressure as he was still very much the new guy and had to win over people and the band too !
stevie u sound depressed. i still love u
Love the song, but you can hardly hear it.
arnel is th closest you can get but never perry's soul !!
Dig Neal's FRO!
Dude has the biggest Afro in history!
No Steve Perry, no Journey.
@debbiechickie5 and I hear he's only about 5' 7" tall if that. no wonder his voice is so high.
damn steve perry got a big butt lol !!! look at 1:00
steve's voice is different and more severe than normal, steve that era had a voice sweeter and louder and he could reach the notes.

can't hear it

jesus villena u dumb
One of the best rock bands from that era....today? Music pretty much is lame & lackluster.....sadly...
I didn't know that Cher sang this song!
@butrfly1023 Thats not true at all. you want to hear fast tempo click on any videos or any of journeys live albums and they are stupidly fast. this is the only good recording of Wheel in the sky worth a crap.
I dont care if anrel sounds like perry. No perry is in journey is the sopranos with no gandolfini.

Of course! Arnel is way better than steve. Steve=ballader(feminine voice) vs Arnel= rockstar(husky/manly/solid voice) hello!
very well said. and a girlish voice! hahahaha. Is he gay?
birada journey
Grow up
I'm a girl idiot! And i love husky manly solid voice rather than a girlish voice.. ewww!
