A great induction speech for a band that deserves it.
Pat Monahan did an excellent job of introducing Journey at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. How do you summerize the different chapters that the band has gone through without hurting someone's feelings? He did an excellent job!
Pat Monahan did an awesome job in introducing Journey to Rock and Roll hall of fame he did a very excellent job thank you guys
"They didn't even need lyrics, that's how BAD ASS this band is"......True Story...
154 na's proves it
And this is coming from a guy with strange lyrical choices
Pat Monahan, you're right I am one of Journey's fan specially Steve Perry is my favourite 💜💜💜😍
In 1982 my girlsaid this to me: Steve Perry makes love to the words. The songs are the orgasm. She just let me know that again. 37 years later....go figure. WOMEN LOVE THAT MAN.😄
"Positivity...that is what they built the Journey foundation on". Neal & Jonathan, let's not forget that.
Greàt introduction for the GREATEST Band I've ever listened to
Best HOF induction speech I have ever heard, period.
Well done Pat you've expressed the feelings of all Journey fans who are overjoyed to see Journey receive the recognition they so deserved and was long over overdue! and most of all to Journey who put aside their differences for a few magical moment to come together as band brothers and acknowledge the millions of fans who are touched by their music. Bravo! RRTX
lek mateo I agree with you on everything you said - EXCEPT about putting their differences aside. Not every member “put their differences aside”. If they had, Steve would have been allowed to sing at least ONE song with them. He co wrote many of their hits. Shame on the band known as “Journey”.
@@the_Real_Grammy_of_6 ... it was not that Steve "wasn't allowed" to sing with Journey that night ... they wanted him to, but Steve declined ...
Journey was ....is.....will...be Steve Perry....awesome
Love Pat! What a class act.
I could sense some tension between Neil and Steve. Perhaps it’s the fans reaction to Steve when he came up. Despite all of the years since he left, we, the fans, still adore him. I’m so happy Steve took the high road and I noted he was the only person who formally acknowledged Arnel. Class act!
You’re absolutely right I love Steve Perry the greatest voice of all times he. Still has the same voice And Neil looked jealous when Steve came out he got the best applause because he is the best . 💯 my favorite songs are faithfully and open arms ! ❤️👍
The drummer also acknowledge Arnel
Journey are legends. Pat’s speech was great.
Legendary and Iconic
Pat was perfect at being the one to induct journey
What a speech !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve gave Arnel respect because he is first class
Bennie Williams yes he did and always will be first class!! Arnel is a wanna be!!!! Schon should’ve changed the name of the band after Steve left!!! Journey is Steve Perry and that prick and Rolle and Cain should thank him for their success!, they wouldn’t have beeen shit without Steve!!!
Dana Rahman Ouch. Wow. No reply was actually needed but you came in with some real zingers.
@@danarahman6281 Arnel is a fan no need to hate Steve declined to perform
@@danarahman6281 Cain never wanted Perry gone Neil overruled him
What?? Arnel spilling blood and sweat while bringing in millions for Steve while he's chilling at the bay..
Notice how LOUD the fans scream when you mention STEVE?????The one & only "VOICE" STEVErockinPERRY!!
mcnuru never another Steve never ever
mcnuru you are so correct. I am still so angry with Journey for not allowing Steve to perform with them. Jonathan is the biggest cry-baby that ever stepped on that stage.
@@the_Real_Grammy_of_6 ... Steve decided not to perform ... they did want him to sing, but he declined ...
@@the_Real_Grammy_of_6 Steve will NEVER work with them after the way they treated him. They guy became a recluse, for crying out loud. He doesn't even like to see old concert footage because it hurts too much.
Steve Perry - voice that cuts through like an acetylene torch! Fantastic!
They changed my life when it came to music!😍🤘🥁
Mad respect to Pat Monahans intro to put everyone on a Train called Santana....Amazing respect to the Journey......
I love journey so much they will always be a special place in my heart
That was a great induction speech by the writers and good delivery by Pat. Unless he wrote it...
Pat as what you do for Journey, you will get to put you in the Hall
Thanks Pat for the shout out to Western PA ! Your the Man ! You'll Always be one of us ! And your ALWAYS welcomed back !
Sooooo glad I was there that night.
Where is Arnel that time?
BEST intro ever!!!!
Glad they got in
They are one of the best bands of all time. Everyone agrees. Period.
Awesome speech!
During Jonathan Cain’s acceptance speech, he thanked the fans for sticking with them through the years. He didn’t really care about we fans. If he did he would have swallowed his huge jealous pride and given the FANS a true thanks by allowing Steve Perry to perform with them.
Cain is the humble one Schon is the ass do not get it backwards do you know that Steve wanted to sing maybe he did not wanna step on Arnel though to me they could have sang together
I’m sure I read somewhere that it was Steve that said no after some miscommunication.
Steve Perry would not perform them. First because it would be disrespectful to Arnel. Second because they screwed him over and he will have nothing to do with Neal or Jon.
how awesome..xooxoxoxoxoxo Pat
Steve Perry is still " The Voice " Arnel respectfully kept the band going. Glad I was around to here the best of the best !
What a great intro! Well deserved!
Using a John Lennon line.
I don’t believe in Journey
I just believe in Steve Perry
I watched this on TV
Will said Pat .your my brother. Pat .good job .
19 Top 40 Singles.

Over 50 Million Albums sold in the U.S.
100 Million sold globally.
When did they do all of that??
Oh yeah. DURING THE STEVE PERRY YEARS‼️‼️
Now I understand why they wouldn’t let
“THE VOICE” of the 70’s & 80’s sing with them at the HOF! Jealous arss wholes‼️
🤬🤬
Steve Perry MADE Journey!
Love Pat
Steve Perry ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can someone please clone Steve Perry!
Their sound tells it all.Nothing Monahan hasn,t said..
the guy is like presenting a powerpoint report lol
put Steve Augeri, Deen Castronovo and Arnel up there. those guys kept the dream alive for journey fans
Shepherd Kagl , Requirements for RRHOF nominees are: Artists become eligible after 25 years of releasing their first hit record.
UNbowed62 Journey originated in 1973 and thief first album was released in 1975. They were eligible for nomination/induction 25 years later, in 2000. Hit records have nothing to do with it, could be a flop, just had to be a commercial release.
TPOHIL80 , True, but we all know that Steve’s arrival with his awesome Vocals & Writing helped to propel the Band’s enrichment efforts in promoting & perpetuating R&R.
We didn’t hear any major hits after ‘87. Just covers.😀
But I don’t understand why HOF didn’t invite all Alumni, out of courtesy.
UNbowed62 Well the RRHOF probably didn’t want them in there at all but finally had to bow to the fans cries. Their reasoning must have been that the life of Journey was the Steve Perry years so that’s all we are going to honor. Journey tried to move on but they were never going to be the juggernaut they were with Perry, the RRHOF saw that.
TPOHIL80 , I must agree it didn’t seem fair, tho’ I’m a Perry fan. All groups inducted need their notable mentions of their history, including all personnel. Maybe we need to sound off @HOF. 😊
Wow 50 yrs old ?
😊😊I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves the song but when last did you play it?
Is it me or does Neil look like Paul Stanley
Pat has a semi-southern/midwestern accent.
Donte Henry FYI Pat’s from Erie, PA. It’s kind of a a Northwestern PA or Western PA accent.
What Happened to Neil Schon?? he looks like a Grand Pa, is he Ok? all the other members look Ok....he loos weird
Todd in the Shadows disliked
👍Drops of Jupiter
One of the all-time best songs.
Hey, why no mention of Arnel Pineda whilst telling the history of Journey? Without him, Journey would have been forgotten.
He shouldn't had to make the Ohhoooh oooh ooooooh of faithfully, honestly, to me, that is a sacred song and specially that part. The Na na na na is alright, but faithfully, is something else. That is why you don't here many people, if any, singing faithfully, because I think we all have some special respect for that song.
Ross was never in Santana.
JIF882 no one said he was. He was with Steve Miller & Mothers of Invention.
Thatone, Ross Valory played with Steve Miller, and Ansley played with Frank Zappa. Also, list again. Pat did say that Ross played with Santana. He said nothing about Steve Miller.
If I were Arnel at that time, I choose Steve Perry to sing their own song,
So the fans of SP get satisfy,
This is the tribute of the Past, not a recent 😂😂
I Wish!! It would've been soooooooooooo FKG AWESOME of SP did!
No lo hizo porque es muy respetuoso y admira a steve . Su corazón es muy sano y no sabe de esas cosas.
No More Crying~ SP New Release

Is vid about this nobody or Journey?
Great intro, but damn Neil Schon to much plastic surgery bro! that is not aging gracefully... looks like James Cann big time!
Why does Pat from Train keep saying heart of San Francisco music? The band's name is Journey.
Um, they're from San Franciso.
Dayvion Carter well it could be that they are from San Francisco.....hmmmmm chew on that one
Ever hear of Lights?
@@marshabailey772 yes I have.
speech?? for what Arnel is not recognized in journey band now he is a vocalist singer for the journey. I sad for that
Arnel was there, he sang 3 songs with them and had an amazing night. He was recognized by his idol, Steve Perry.
The Journey world doesn't revolve around Arnel, as much as his countrymen & women want to think it does. But Perry did acknowledge him. Pay attention.
It’s a pity for all his words he didn’t mention Arnel. Original member or not. He’s probably being in the band longer than Perry at this stage. Not taking anything away from Perry of course.
Steve Perry mentioned Arnel-
they could not get anybody better to do the into then that dude?really?wtf!!!sad
WHAT DO YOU MEAN ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS GUITAR PLAYER NAMED SANTANA THIS GUY SHOULDVE NEVER BEEN THERE PRESENTER HE DONT KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE SF MUSIC.
Steve shouldn't sang at least 1. Song together
His range isn't there anymore.
Michael Allen it doesn't matter, his fans would've taken Steve at 50% than nothing at all. The fans just want Steve Perry back!
Steve and only Steve can say why he didn't sing. My guess is it's more than one reason.
Give him credit for showing up. Its more than Peter Cetera did.
JoAnn Augustin shouldn't or should of?
They should have included Arnel he is a journey also.
He didn’t make Journey - and since he has been singing people only come to hear Steve Perry’s songs- had Arnel had the ability to bring new popular music he might have deserved the honour but he didn’t make Journey
Train is such an awesome Zepplin cover band, and such a shitty 'other' band.
Zepplin is shitty!
Pat should not have sang during his speech..
Why not? He has a great voice.
I loved it. Great moment.
They recognize only steeve perry.how about arnel for ten years?that make their music still alive,,for ten years that almost shred arnels voice..
The Rock Hall chose to induct the hit making factory of the 70's/80's, the lineup(s) that made the most impact on music (25 hits on 9 albums). The lineup with Arnel has only put out 2 albums with barely a hit and one of them included a full album of their Steve Perry hits re-recorded with Arnel's voice. That does not constitute making an impact on rock & roll, think about it for a minute.
Arnell sings in a journey cover band. He had nothing to do with creating Journey and its success
Pat es racista, no quiere a arnel, lo ignora, apuesto que desea que arnel se retire, claramente esta decidido a sustituir a steve , que manera !!!! Ponerse a cantar, le habrá parecido injusto que árnel haya sido favorecido por neal schon.
Hey induction speechwriters, your speech was terribly inaccurate and embarrassingly insincere:
- "A few others" = George Tickner and Charles "Prairie" Prince. Would it hurt you to mention them?
- Aynsley Dunbar wasn't "replaced" (fired), he quit. Just as Gregg Rolie quit. Both chose to leave.
- "Shit got turnt" when the group changed from Jazz Fusion to mature, suggestive Rock hits, and not when they devolved their music into Cain-written "teen movie" closing credits songs.
- Journey didn't "change the face of music, radio, and live performance". The Beatles did.
- "They didn't even need lyrics". Which is why they switched from long Jazz fusion instrumentals, to verse-driven rock...?
- "Positivity"? Listen to their first six albums. It's all about breakups and cheating and being lonely. And it was gooood too. But the cloying "positivity"? Only after Cain joined.
- "No matter what might try to bring them down". Like...poor record sales and boring sameness on every album since 2001? (No offense to Arnel, but the music has been middling.)
- "Hold women in high esteem"? Yeah, here's from the song 'Where Were You' -> "your sister's lookin' real good to me." Not high esteem at all. (Great song, though!)
I've been a Journey fan my whole life (I was born a week after "Departure" was recorded.) and watching this irritated me. Journey deserved far better.
But whatever. It's the RR HoF, the place where rebellious young, new music groups and singers eventually go to surrender their fight against the Establishment and the Old....and ironically become a part of the very Establishment they fought against.
MrTree1779 100%. I wish Carlos had been available to induct them.
Troll.
To all the ONLY STEVE PERRY memes: No, actually, (though I know that facts don't exist in your self painted world picture) Steve Perry is not, and never was the heart and soul of Journey. He himself says this. He was a great singer and writer. But he left the band and pursued his own solo career. After 10 years of waiting and searching, they were able to find a singer who matches the power of Steve P. and who does it easily. Arnold plays second fiddle to NO ONE...........
Sorry. But no. 100 million records sold DISAGREE with you... Via Steve Perry
Who is Arnold? 😂😂
🙄🤮Who of What the FK is an Arnold? 😬
I laugh at you.
Journey??? Ugh, such a lame band...
vanhouten64 ....you are definitely entitled to an opinion. But in reality "lame" bands don't have greatest hits albums that are certified Diamond X 1.5...(not my opinion) just fact.
You'll appreciate them more when you grow up and take the time to delve into their entire catalog.
Well said.
vanhouten64, Baby you were born literally yesterday. So sorry your generation has to experience today’s “music” of fucked up “lyrics”, voice correctors, PROPS, stage & video-optics, which try to distract~that the “artists” have zero talent.
So sorry your music sucks & to listen to it, you’ll be deaf b4 reaching our age. 📣 🤗
+UNbowed62 Vic is defending Journey, why tf are you being so rude? Chill out man.
Steve Perry put Journey on the map. If it weren’t for Perry’s vocals, Journey wouldn’t be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Journey would still be playing at the Starwood.
