- Una particular formación en el Show del Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar 2008 tuvo la banda de rock norteamericana JOURNEY con el vocalista Arnel Pineda.
Efectivamente, el cantante filipino fue incorporado a la banda JOURNEY, siendo su primera presentación oficial con JOURNEY el 21 de febrero del 2008 en el Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar en Chile con una transmisión televisiva en conjunto para 80 países y en vivo por señales locales, de cable y el afamado canal A&E. El filipino Arnel Pineda derrochó energía y logró cautivar a todo el público con su voz muy parecida a la de Steve Perry y su gran presencia escénica, rejuveneciendo a la banda y dejando en segundo plano su carácter de absoluto novato. Journey's first gig with Pineda took place on February 21st, 2008 at the Viña del Mar Festival in Chile. It was a bold move to debut a new singer in front of such a large audience, but Pineda was quite up to the task.
There's a reported more than 18,000 in the crowds PLUS 25 Million watching on TV-- for Arnel's first performance with Journey in Chile!!

No creo que vuelva no por falta de ganas y $ sino porque las relaciones en la banda están al borde de finalizar gracias al tecladista que mezclo política y religión así quienes querían ver a Journey en viña 2019 y me incluyo si no pueden venir sea cualquiera el motivo agradecer al tecladista por eso.

Journey fue a Viña solo porque la banda necesitaba estrenar a Arnel en un “espacio seguro”, o sea, lejos de USA. Dudo que volvamos a ver una banda decente en Viña del Mar.

I must admit that I lost track of Journey's "journey" after Steve Perry left the band. Oh, I heard of the couple replacement singers and then I, also, heard of the singer they had found for a permanent replacement. Still, I didn't look into him/you~Arnel, or what was going on with the band. For me, life had taken over during those years anyway and I really didn't have the TIME or the desire to look into this story or this "new" lead singer. Now that I finally have the time, I finally DID look into to this and, let me say to Arnel, congratulations. Not many, IF ANY, could fill the chops of someone like Steve Perry with such talent and ability. I realize that you have now been with the band a super long time and I hope you take my following comment in stride and know that it is, in no way, a reflection of your ability or talent. And, I think, you must, after all these years with the band, have come to understand that no matter how awesome your singing talent and abilities might be, NO ONE will EVER replace Steve Perry. He is irreplaceable. Not just in talent but in literal personage...who he was as the long time lead singer of this iconic, American band. That being said, you are a fantastic singer yourself. An amazing vocal talent, on par with Steve Perry... but, you have your own awesomeness to offer as an individual. I know I'm very late to your party but, I am looking very forward to seeing Journey perform tonight, with you as the lead singer, for the very first time since SP left the band, during the halftime of tonight's game for the Superbowl between the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers!!! Though, I'm sorry to have to tell you this but, I'm ALL ABOUT the Detroit Lions kicking a** and taking names. I'm from Detroit and, imo, no other team in the NFL DESERVES to be in the Superbowl this year MORE than the Detroit Lions. I'll still cheer you on at halftime!

I prefer Arnel’s version of this song. So does all of Journey’s songs that he’s sang live or covered. It’s more rockstar raspy, stronger and more masculine and more current than the classic versions.

2023 y a pesar de q este concierto ya tiene 15 años todavia lo sigo viendo cuando quiero escuchar a journey con arnel...muchos viven ( los fans d esta banda) comparando a steve con arnel incluso hoy en dia q ya arnel tiene 15 años en la banda... es verdad q el la voz o el timbre d la voz no es la misma , arnel no es steve, pero yo creo q arnel ha sabido encajar bien en la banda y con los demas fanaticos q no nos quedamos estancado recordardo la era con steve, pues steve es uno d los mejores vocalistas del mundo del rock pero el dejo la banda ( x el motivo q fuera) y gracias la banda pudo encontrar a alguien q los hicieran revivir luego d la partida d steve ( despues d steve y antes d arnel hubo otro vocalista )....incluso pasaran los años y para mi ( ojo es mi gusto, cada quien con los suyos) journeys seguira siendo una d las mejores banda de rock o de rock progresivo
