I always try to remember that 98% of what you worry about never takes place! I heard that somewhere and it definitely seems true!
My husband always says “don’t cross bridges until you’re there”. So true!

This video really hit home for me, Christine. Even though I'm a positive thinker, fears and worries do pop up in my mind and can plant themselves if I don't pay attention and divert my thinking. I also need to frequently remind myself to let go (as best I can) of things I have no control over. That's a tough one, since I'm a control freak. I frequently fear the worst since I always want the best for my family, friends and myself and the future does frighten me. I keep telling myself that God is in control and we shouldn't be worried. As always, thank you so much for your wisdom and insights!

Marti I think I must have been speaking to you when I said go back and listen again to some of the videos on stinking thinking. Pleeeeeez use a journal and do some of the exercises. Of course, there is no magic pill but if you can find a positive tool to ease your mind just a little bit, you can build on that. In reality, the future is right here, right now that's it. Practice gratitude...more! LOL - it is impossible to be grateful and fearful at the same time. Rest easy Marti and look for the good. I know you know. :) As ever thank you so much for your comment and your honesty and open-ness. x

This is one of the best talks I've heard on anxiety. Clear explanation and guidance on managing anxiety. Thank you so much. As for duration, I enjoy long videos myself instead of jumping from one topic to the next on RUclips to gain insight and advice. Please continue making your wonderful videos.

8:40 What about if you have tried to find/tackled the ways you can influence the outcome but you worry you are missing some, and this is a massive worry?

Try to step out of the emotion and look at the situation strategically - talk it out with someone you trust. Write it down. Do the worst case, best case exercise. If you are a worrier these things probably won't take that away completely but these things do help to lighten the load and help you to put things into perspective. You have my best wishes and remember, things very often are not as bad as we predict they will be.

Hi Christine thank you so much for this video. Since covid I've been struggling with news anxiety and I started catastrophizing about everything. Especially about things I can't control. I'm 20 and I'm extremely concerned about my future and since there are many wars taking place in different parts of the world I'm not very optimistic you know.. Nevertheless your video really helped me and it weakened in me a powerful will. I think that know it's the time to let go of all the negativity and start to build my life without worrying about things that are far away from my Country. Thank you for everything Christine, wish you well 🤍
PS: hope you could understand me since English is not my first language 😅

Hello @gio03942 - I am delighted to receive your comment. I am so sorry that you have to worry about the world at such a young age but that you do, demonstrates your humanity. Remember, there have always been wars and disease and, yet, here we are, still able to to enjoy some of the better things this world/life has to offer. Build on your strength and determination to create your best life and to make the world a better place - do what you can to help but always look for the good. It is there. Thank you so much for your comment it inspires me to continue here on You-tube. I would like to ask your permission to share your comment (obviously anonymously) to others who may need to hear it.

Great video, Christine! I really needed to hear this as I’m an expert at “what if” and I try to plan for every possible outcome. I am getting better at staying in the moment, though.
As you asked…I prefer 10-15 minute videos, in general.

@@HAPPYSTUFFANDFLUFF I watch your short videos when I see them, but I don’t look through shorts (as I think they’re more addicting to scrolling through them all) so I’m probably missing some.

I'm glad you brought up climate change. That is the big stressor for me because I cannot control it. It is bigger than I am and I often feel at the mercy of both it and those who keep making it worse. I have other things in my life that deserve my focus and attention, but it is always there, like a predator ready to pounce on me from the recesses of my repressed thoughts. I'll be sure to re-watch this video, it was very helpful.

Right now, I'm in a dark place with morning anxiety, catastrophic thinking, and guilt. After sixteen years of not working, I need to return back to work and thought I found a job and hastily took it without thinking about the things I need to put into plan and now I'm wrought with guilt, anxiety, my mind keeps going to my kids dying before me to me dying in my sleep and I'm alone and won't be found for a while because I'm not married to not being able to hold down a job and being homeless to my kids being homeless, etc. I start crying and panicking even though that probably won't happen, but I have trust issues. I'm trying to work on this, but it's so hard when it consumes you.

Hello @missouriprideusa6241 I was so sorry to read your comment. I have many videos on the channel about morning anxiety and catastrophic thinking and I hope you watch them. However, sometimes attempting to tackle these issues by yourself is neither possible nor advised. It sounds to me as though you need the professional one on one help that your caregiver/doctor can either provide or point you in the direction. There is no shame in asking for help and I think you should do exactly that. Sometimes we need a little extra help. Just have an informal chat with your doctor about how you are feeling - it can do no harm and might just be helpful to you. Thank you so much for sharing and my very best wishes to you.

Thank you. I do have an appointment with a therapist soon and I'm taking a break from job hunting until after the holidays. The problem is, besides what I told you previously, is the weather. I hate the cold, I hate what the season does to me, and I hate having to bundle up because, although a necessity, I feel restricted. I know that it's SAD, but I really hate winter. I hate that it gets dark early and that I'm freezing.
I had TMS back in May and June, it's six weeks long every day and it did wonders for my depression, but I was worried about how it would work this winter. I know they say to be out in the sun for about 30 minutes to help raise serotonin level, but again, I can't sta d being out in the cold.
I can't afford a uv lamp and I don't want to risk getting burned by those. I wonder if I could go to a tanning salon and use their bed to get the uv rays. Bit the kicker is, I won't tan. I'll just leave the lid open and sit in a chair and read or something. I can't tan to save my life.

I have bad anxiety . Getting meds from doc but have to wait a few weeks for it to kick in . My anxiety is made worse because I have vulva lichen planus which is red , sore, burning all day . I have to go for a biopsy & it’s making my anxiety worse. My legs are very sore too. Please advise me what I need to do? 🌺

Okay you need to call your doctor and tell them how you feel. They are there to look after you which they cannot do if they don't know how you feel. If you don't feel you can do that yourself ask a friend for help or a member of your family. There is no need for you to be suffering in this way. Please contact your doctor again.
