It’s about time someone actually showed how an amp sounds lol seriously tho, everyone plays one chord clean and then a bunch of metal it’s nice to know what is in between those extremes
I have been shopping small amps because I'm a hopeless gear junkie. I was looking at this one, the 20w 🍊 and your video sealed the deal. I MUST HAVE THIS AMP. My wife said she would leave me if I bought another amplifier. Gee, I'm gonna miss her but I can use the extra closet space to store my new Fender Mustang 90. That's an epic guitar and it can't wait for me to get this amp.
Finally a decent demo of this amp! Thank you! I wasn't sure if I'd buy it because there's barely any videos playing it with a clean sound or different guitars. This is great!
Yes! Four year strong!!...I have the CR120 head, and I think I’m gonna pick this up next as my smaller practice amp. EDIT: Yup, bought it. It’s every bit as amazing, you guys owe it to yourself to pick one up as well.
Yo thank you so much for this awesome demo, everyone just plays one type of sound and you demonstrated quite literally all sounds I was curious about. Time to pick this amp up 👍
Great vid mate!!! Just purchased one of these and can't wait for it to turn up...keep up the great vids... I know alot of other people have said this but your vids show full range rep of the gear your showing. Cheers!!!
I own this amp and I don't like it very much, but your settings showed me I need to cut the bass more than I was previously. Also, your playing is really good too. It's always handled pedals really nicely though and I do like it's cleans
Cut the bass put it higher for cleans, and then for distortion put it on the floor so it can have a Lil more bass. It's a very good amp for phsycedlic stoner rock and that's my genre. And I love this amp
This is one of those amps that's not going to sweeten a thin guitar. That's kind of obvious and not a bad thing. I just bought one yesterday. I can't say it sounds great but its small and versatile.
This video is what made me buy the Crush 20RT. I eventually sold it (I buy and sell alot cause I like to experiment) but uh. Now I miss it and want another :P
These amps are awesome 👌 i use mine for practice at low volumes and have wired an external speaker out so i can plug into a bigger cab for band practice 😎 great little amps
Nice job on the demo! I'm sending my Blackstar Fly 3 set back and getting this. You cant run effects very well with the Blackstar and it basically doesn't have a clean channel. They remind me of half good computer speakers. This Crush is something you can actually build from, and get some good sound out of the box.
I was looking for alternative choices to a Blackstar Fly 3, going for a strong clean tone that handles overdrive and fuzz pedals well, compact size, 3 band EQ plus a reverb. The last couple of days I got convinced to try out one of these Orange combos. You made it even easier for me by stating, the Fly 3 lacks some of these qualities, thanks a lot! However, the Fly 3 bass which I got is awesome, works quite well both with a bass and an entry level guitar.
What guitar reviewers dont tell you: They put hidden pedals between the guitar and guitar amp but they dont tell what they are....as can be seen in this video. Note the Yellow guitar cable. Then look at the black color cable on top of the guitar amp. So what we hear is NOT the real guitar amp plugged direct with the guitar. We are also hearing many hidden pedals such as EQ, Booster, Distortion, and god knows what else but they wont tell you. Even if they do list down the pedals they used, how do we know they really used those pedals, right? This is not aimed at orange guitar amps only but also at other videos featuring guitar amps from Laney, Fender, Marshall etc.
BUT as we can see and hear at 0:05 - the guitar is in standard formation, and everything is fine. at 0:58 we hear a reduced guitar tuning, and a slightly different equalizer on combo, respectively, I can only say that there is clearly a lowering device in the circuit, but no more, since orange overload cannot be confused with anything, it is original and interesting, and it’s just that in this combo.
Or, what you don't know is that the guitar cable goes directly to an audio interface so they record the guitar dry to a DAW, and use another cable that runs from the audio interface output to the amp input (with probably a DI box to match impedance between inputs and outputs.) And this is done to separate completely the guitar and amp's audio from another sound source and avoid bleeding/phase problems, or just in case parts of your video's audio go wrong and you are in need for an identical audio overdub for post-production. Not everything is a conspiracy. By the way, I have the same amp and it absolutely sounds like this with no pedal or digital help, while also having a noticeable sound spatial projection and really beautiful percussive pick attacks when pushed past 1 o'clock on the clean channel.
If it were a guitar review/demo then I would see a problem but it’s an amp demo and it’s job is to amplify whatever you run through it so if pedals or anything else was used to get the sound you hear through the orange it really doesn’t matter.
I have one for classical jazz and jazz fusion. If I push the volume to two thirds of power, I have to decrease the bass. The sound is a little warmer than the DV Mark LJ
this review has changed my mind about this "bedroom" amp....its clean tone ain't what i had listened in other reviews.....and it's crunch is so Orange (love the Orange crunch)...how does it feel the reverb in clean tones???...it didn't sound much like a digital reverb, bue it didn't sound really spring.....i'm about to buy two small combo amps...Vox Pathfinder 10 and probably this orange...i love its crunch but the poor clean sound that i had heard where quite an issue.....most of the reviewers doesn't really know how to deal with clean tones....Man, where i live in Australia i cannot plug any tubes amp during the summertime or else my tubes will melt like wax in a burnin' candle....already got a fender champion 40 which is great too....thanks for usin a fender and for playin tastefully, i've been searchin for a review like for about one week.....no many reviewers would know how to deal with the knobs...and they think clean sounds are just for strummin chords...cheers, mate
Cheers, I really like Orange’s clean sound it’s not as bright as a Vox and not as warm as a Fender. It kind of sits in the middle. I can’t remember exactly how the Reverb was as I had it on loan when I made the demo but i didn’t have any issues with the verb. Some reverbs in amps kind of fight what you are playing whereas this one blends nicely 👍
Awesome video! Well demonstrated. After watching multiple videos for this amp NOW I feel I have a real sense of what it can do. But... Can I bring this to band practice and compete with a drum?
This is how you demo an amp - not by talking, but by playing with variety. Great job!
A lot of people like the analysis and comparisons
Totally amen to that!
Agree with Marty, no talking - well done - nice camera angles
Just bought one thank you for this
It’s about time someone actually showed how an amp sounds lol seriously tho, everyone plays one chord clean and then a bunch of metal it’s nice to know what is in between those extremes
Cheers, really does help 👍
@@TobysGuitarGearDemos i have that one its good amp.
@@TobysGuitarGearDemos is that a Mono plug for Headphone Out?! or Stereo?!
@@chinelaznidida8668 I used a stereo cable, I believe a mono one will work too 👍
Been trying to find an affordable way to get my blues breakers on. If i dime the reverb, will it work with an epiphone 335 for some tasty blues? -G
5 years later, still one of the best bang for the buck small amps out there.
this is probably the best gear demo video I've ever seen - amazing!
0:57 hit me with nostalgia. Four year strong is flawless
This video needs to be a you tube "how to do an amplifier review."
Well done Sir.
Showing the control settings, probably the best review I've seen- thanks
Great playing and not only did you show different styles and guitars, you did what a lot of others don’t, and that show the settings. Great Job !!
Everything orange makes sounds amazing is what I’ve slowly learned
Your amp-reviews are essential business.
Wow turning all the knobs from low to high..really showing the sound diff..very cool demo..welldone.
Could be the best practice amp demo I've seen yet. Great job!
Thanks for showing this. I can't believe how nice the cleans sound.
My favorite gear review channel on RUclips.
2:52 love that bend release
Best review on utube, showed exactly what the amp does and how it sounds at the same time...well done and thanks

Thank you for the kind sentiment but I'm single (and have been for 55 years).
An amp will always be your friend!!!
Smart men don't get married.that why there are dogs
Cringe wife
Nice demo! and Summer Elaine...probably the deepest Weezer cut I've heard in an amp demo
Agreed. What’s more is that song’s progression was borrowed from “walk away Renee” by The Left Banke
Finally a decent demo of this amp! Thank you! I wasn't sure if I'd buy it because there's barely any videos playing it with a clean sound or different guitars. This is great!
Just ordered one coming on Wednesday can't freaking wait. Thanks for showing off the range of the amp, great demo!
Top-notch get-right-into-it demo. Many thanks!
Nice playing and great demo! I have the 35RT and its a beast! These are great amps!
Those cleans are heavenly
man, those are REALLY sweet cleans- very versatile. And, crunches and scoops well, too? very nice.
Yeh blew me away, best analogue style solid state I've played 👍
That four year strong riff put the biggest smile on my face lol I love this channel
Just got this amp and love it. Great demo and I love RHCP.
I've got the Crush 35RT and it's one of my fav amps period 👍
got one off facebook for 40 bucks

Sorry man, Im about to get the 35w version but i still have a question.. does it DOOM?
Just got one :) I didn’t get the reverb version though. Curious how the reverb sounds
@@cjscarff6453 can we run helix through it??
really good video. You actually showed the amp and played with it instead of just showing how it looks. You made me buy the amp and it’s great👍🏻
fantastic demo, never thought i'd hear summer elaine and drunk dori in one of these!
This was an excellent review. Thank you for demonstrating correctly!
Loved the Four Year Strong lick!
I bought a Orange amp for the clean channel.... yeah, right! Crank up the Rock!

It can play with a lightish drummer, but not with a heavy handed one 👍
