- Dick Clark interviews the Bangles on American Bandstand. Vicki Peterson introduces her fellow band members. They talk about how long they have been playing, how long they have been together, their tour with the English Beat, Los Angeles music scene, the radio, and performing at the Roxy.

That was an enjoyably polite and respectful interview by Clark, speaking to them as musicians working hard to get their music out, and not as a "girl group" oddity. Clark always seemed like a pretty class act to me.
Hard to believe that impish little one in the middle became one of the most beautiful women ever.
I prefer her look here to later on.
But she already had that sexy Ricky 6.

She has returned to The Bangles officially according to many accounts.
But she would come back, she's still back with them. ❤🎼🎸
Actually, she back in the band now. She started performing around 2014 with them and become the bass player again in like 2016. When they did the release of Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bangles. You can catch her on RUclips and she does a great job.
Actually she's been back since 2016. She's done a lot of concerts and shows since. There is a concert she did in May of 1983 on RUclips at a ZOO in New Jersey.
They are just so damn cute! And talented. And wonderful. I want another Bangles!!!

Honest question. What makes you say that? She doesn't sing and as far as I know she only plays bass.

@@smurphftw2008 I will say this. I don't know that she's more talented. She does sing and has an amazing voice. It's why she left the Bangles. To be lead singer of her boyfriends band. But she's more of a Country singer style. I don't think her voice really blends with the harmonies of the other girls. She does play multiple musical instruments.
This is so great to see! It's like a little trip back to the early 80s--except that AB never looked this good (even when new) on my TV back then! I love the fact that The Bangles were obviously still a new band on the charts--as Dick spreads the interview between all the members. Not too long after this Susanna would be getting all the attention!
gschultz9 I didn't even know who The Bangles were, Like everyone, I didn't know how big they would become, & that 35 years later, we would still be talking about them. They were so much better back then. Annette was the prettiest, then Susanna, then Annette left, & Susanna became the prettiest (to the media & a, lot of people ), it was about the music then. I'm happy that all of them are together again. They're older now & they're doing it on their own terms. They have all held up well.
I love how that Rickenbacker is bigger than Susanna Hoffs.

Try being the same height as Susanna and playing a Fender Jazz bass. >_< Now I use an Ibanez Mikro for shows. Makes me look taller in photographs. :P

This is one of the earliest TV recordings and here Susanna uses her 360. This must be the one that fell out of favour after she was persauded to have the fretboard resurfaced. Presumably that lead to he aquistion of the 1996 either in original fireglow or jetglow as is appeared. It remains her TV guitar as she puts it.
I saw them on that tour at the Hollywood Palladium. Won me over immediately!

So young so short so cute. Hmmm Susanna Hoffs was a teen crush of mine. Poster of her on my wall. Here I'm a punk and metal head and a picture of her lol.My father pretty much let me decorate my room as I saw fit as long as it wasn't vulger destructive and was kept clean. I had pictures and posters of metal bands punk bands surfing waves and surfers. I loved surfing and the beach. But in between my iron maiden poster and a slayer poster was Susanna hoffs. My friends didn't blame me or talk shit because most teens back then had the hots for her.
Same. I got a pass from my fellow heavy Metal buds for being a Bangles fan because Susanna was so stunning. Everybody was in love with her.
Oh nice to see this early interview of the Bangles. Dick Clark was an amazing host and a champion of new music in those days. :-)

Susanna Hoffs sounded so much better and down to earth here before the executives made her out to be a sex siren and her voice and personality changed.
I agree that her singing voice definitely changed (it became much more "girly" and less rich and full), but can you clarify what you mean when you say her personality changed? I've seen interviews of the Bangles both before and after they hit it big and didn't really detect a change in her behavior or demeanor. Do you have an example?
Yes, unfortunately,& that's what led to their demise. They made her branch out way too early, she made the 1987 bomb "The Allnighter ", she was exploited for her good looks, the band suffered, many of the hits they had, Susanna sang lead (except for the Egyptian song), I think it was unfair to both Susanna & The Bangles, the music suffered greatly from it, but now things are so much better, they make their own kind of music, they are in control.😊🎼🎸

I honestly never though all these years later, that Annette would come back and be in the band again. It's crazy how life works. Talk about a complete circle.

@@sambradley2975 Honestly, I preferred the idea of each one taking a verse. It's just too bad there wasn't fourth verse so that they all got one. And, of course, neither Vicki nor Michael ever sang lead on any of the group's other 'hits.'
