In the 1980s my wife had a habit of copying the looks of various singers ranging from Paula Abdul, Juice Newton & Alison Moyet to Kim Wilde, but she did Debbie Harry best, and copied that dress for our wedding, and oh boy, did she wear it well. Happiest day of my life.
Debbie Harry’s career went back a long way. She was in a folk band called Wind in the Willows in the late 1960’s and even worked as a Playboy Bunny around the same time.
Me too! Blonde was my childhood crush I was obsessed with her in my early years. If I can remember correctly hearing this song and seeing her I was becoming a man if you know what I mean 😂.
Blondie - the group was just loaded with talented members. Love Debbie! But, you gotta love the group as a whole. I’m sure 50 years later Debbie would agree.
My parents knew her parents when I was growing up. I was pretty little, but I thought it was the neatest thing that her parents would tell me all sorts of little things about her. It was such a big deal to be able to tell my friends that. She was touring at that time, but it was fun to hear all about her and growing up.
Hard to believe I was working on my Paper Route & about to become a dishwasher & Cook at Poppin Fresh Pies, (Bakers Square) in Akron, Ohio/Chapel Hill Mall as this song rocketed to the top on Billboard! Debby Harry and Blondie are the most underrated Band of pure authentic talent from the lead singer, the drummer, the keyboard player, down to the guitarists. They defined energy, enthusiasm, entertainment and sheer listening ecstasy. They are timeless musicians and they enjoyed entertaining their audiences. It was real and authentic something lacking in todays musicians abilities.❤
I agree completely. Saw an interview with her, with Jimmy Fallon and was ecstatic that her favorite Blondie album is also mine: Autoamerican. Talk about an underrated group but ESPECIALLY that album. I think it's the best experimental pop album of ALL time: Rapture (10 years ahead of its time and her vocals!), The Tide is High, Europa, Faces, Do the Dark, Walk Like Me, etc. etc.!!! Blondie saved my life as a teenage boy in Alaska, in the early '80s.

American Bandstand was a classic. Blondie was one of the most amazing groups to come out of the late 70’s. The vocals, the style and the drumming of Clem Burke!!!
Blondie plus Mike Chapman were an amazing recording act. But they needed each other and those times to be that special. It all came together for a short few years. 1978-1981. Mike Chapman was the reason they broke out in England.
This is the jam! Blondie ahead of the times. Even the album title " Parallel Lines " is genius. They should put this song in emergency rooms when patients are flat lining, the rhythm might bring them back tapping their feet. ❤
Really hard for somebody as pretty as Harry to have a distinctive persona, or with a voice that sweet to have an edge and such a distinctive sound. And nobody works the camera like her. She's entertaining even with the music muted. And the music is first rate.

I was so surprised how talented Blondie was as a band. Their first album was ground breaking for New Wave fans. First time I heard Dreaming, I became a fan for life.
Agreed. I recall first hearing it on car radio and thinking, “Wow, this is DIFFERENT!” It had an element of the current disco genre but her voice was so ethereal.
I was 9 when this hit the airwaves, and I was so entranced by it. Her voice was like something from an angel to me. Whenever it came on, I just stopped everything and listened.
I don't recall hearing that she ever had a musical education or took voice lessons but her voice is amazing. NOT just her natural voice but how she uses it and does not OVER do it.

A perfect blend of rock, pop, punk, and disco.... genres that don’t usually get along well together. Supremely talented musicians. A song that defined that era at the dawn of the 80s a couple of years before the 80s even began
Likely because of good session musicians. Thomas Headley above laid it out in detail but a lot of times the regular musicians don't play on the albums or are at least supplemented by session players.
Underated?!🤨 They were voted into the Rock N Roll hall of fame in 2006 which is a pretty big deal! There's alot of big names that are not in it like Billy Idol, Sound Garden, New Order, and U2. Freaking BILLY IDOL?! How can he NOT be in the hall??This is a fucking tragedy so this gives you an idea how hard hard it is to make it into this prestigious class.
