I couldn't say that better! I remember there was such creative energy in NY in the 80s. Like a renaissance happening at that time in theater, music and art. The best of times.
My granddad used to sing this around me but replaced Denise with my name. It's taken me years to find this song. I was 8 when he first did it, I'm now 21. It's been nearly a year since he's been gone. I miss him and I'm glad I found this to remember him.
negative people like you make me feel so lucky 🍀 thankyou for reminding me of how blessed i am - wish you luck that you start to see the positives in this beautiful life then i guarantee you won’t have the time to be sending out your negativity 🏴❤️
I saw an old film of them before they were famous, in some dive bar in New York or somewhere, and though it pains me to say it, they were f*cking awful!
Debbie was so adorable lol. Such a cool, unaffected person. To be blessed with those looks & that talent, incredible. & be lucky enough to be adopted by people that didn't destroy her before she had a chance. We are so lucky to still have her & Blondie going strong.
This is one of the few cover songs where I like both the original and the cover. This is a cover of an old late 50s or early 60s song called Denise Denise, I want to say by Randy & The Rainbows .
Clem Burke is an awesome drummer.....what an animal! In a great sense. There would be no Blondie without Deborah and Clem!!! Rock on and thanks for the 40+ years of memories!
its honestly funny how very basic this song is and he's still going ham on the fills but not in a way that takes over the whole thing, its just enough. every bit as good as the most heralded drummers of this era like stewart copeland
0:07 What's unique about her is that she is extraordinarily photogenic. Apart from her natural beauty, the camera is able to capture her relaxing and playful personality. It's as if she is right next to me talking to me.
Not only is Blondie showing their appreciation for Randy and the Rainbows' 1963 original version ("Denise") but they, just as predictable as the morning sun, have done the best version!
@Siegfried Alemeir one great song? You sir are taking the piss! 🤣 She has at least 10 great hit songs (obviously not in the USA) and those songs could easily challenge any song by Blondie, or any other female singer! Album wise, she's already got them beat 😉 Don't take it the wrong way, I'm a massive fan of both 😎
He and Rick Buckler of the Jam were the two more energic and dynamic drummers of that period, and still speaking of the early days. Others were good (P. Cook, Rat Scabies, Jet Black, Marky R., etc) but these two marked rythm with an intensity that was another show aside/along the song (not a sideshow). Elevation is the right word.
Now I'm not suggesting anything but when Debbie holds the mike at 1:33 Every boy, man fell to their knees watching Top Of The Pops in winter 1978 in the UK. My dad would say to my mother can you go get another log for the fire, even though we had an electric fire when Debbie come on TV.
Back then we had a magazine called Hit Parader and she was on the cover and inside wearing leopard tights, shorts etc - funny that i cannot find those photos today yet surely they exist, i bought it back then and masturbated for months looking at it and linda ronstadt's album covers LOL!! Man we had almost no female nudity in the 70's that was easily available did we , any glimpse of a girl's body drove us nuts LoL again!
This was my brother Andy’s favourite song will never forget the last time I saw him in hospital I gave him a kiss on his head and said goodbye mate and walked away with tears in my eyes we will always miss you Andy rest in peace 😇👍.
My gosh she was gorgeous just stunning those eyes, hair, figure the lot and really nice voice. Plus if you could take your eyes off here as as musician HOW can you ignore that amazing drummer Clem? AND those Classic Vintage Premier drums( nothing like them)! Great songs always from these guys and gal!
I know the band don't think this song is mature enough to play these days but I wish they understood that here in the UK it was with this track that everyone in the country fell in love with Debbie and with Blondie. It is one of THE BEST POP RECORDS OF ALL TIME...2 minutes and 15 seconds is never ever enough so you always want to hear it again....and again...and again...no audience will ever NOT want to hear this track in the UK. We loved it then and we love it now.
Guess I read in her book Making Tracks that it was her idea to do this cover. The band members were not exactly enthusiastic, so it's to Debbie's great credit that it worked and it put them on the map.
You are SO right i could not have put it any better myself so loved in the U.K this song they played at glastonbury in 1999 seen it on here the audience went bonkers!!
This song was released in 1978 when I was a 15 year old school boy. All my friends and I thought it was great! We all rushed out to buy it and were glued to the television when it came on Top of the Tops.
There is no other woman that did it like Debbie Harry. She wrote her own songs, she used her talent and she gave the boys what they liked. And she became not only a sex symbol, but an accomplished musician and icon. I love her.
I look at her there...and I think HOLY SHIT....THAT IS SELINA KYLE MICHELLE PHIFER!!!!!!! If they would have done a movie based on Blondie....I think young Michelle would have been PERFECT to play Debbie!!!
Had a major crush on her back in the day.Lucky to see Blondie live way back then.Went with my best mate, and were both in heaven. This is a band of very talented muscians and songwriters. And Blondie herself is a great, great singer and front woman. That should be enough. But No!!.She just happens to be one of the most beautiful, and caring humans on this big old planet of ours
I liked Blondie back in the day- not a fanatic but very listenable. I never knew they did Denise and she does it awesomely . Its catchy and poppy and reflects the fun nature of the song in a modern interpretation. Tough to capture such a classic and modernize it with the respect it deserves but Debbie pulled it off nicely. Was nice to see it brought back Randy and the boys due to its success as well- nice story. RIP Randy.
Here in the UK Denis reached the number 2 position in the British charts and stayed there for weeks and weeks. It was what launched Blondie and Debbie Harry in my country and was a Europe wide smash hit at the same time. I think America came on board a year later when Heart of Glass was released in the States. For me and many others over here this song transports us back to when we first fell in love with Blondie and their stunning lead singer. Makes me happy to know that Americans are discovering some of Blondies early songs today.
Debbie looked like my wife of only ten years, Beth. She was taken from us 35 years ago. I never remarried or had a woman live with me since. When I hear and watch Blondie videos, I remember the most wonderfull days of my long life. Thanks for the memorys, time to burn a blunt.

We loved Blondie not just because of Debbie. We loved Blondie the Band. Cleverly crafted songs, delivered without pretensions, always memorable and brought a positive energy with it.
She was absolutely drop dead gorgeous and a pin Up model on most boys bedroom Wall's along with Suzie Quatro and i make this comment with absolute respect they were both beautiful girls and top singer's ❤❤
so Incredible, I Love Blondie, I Love that their 70's and 80's songs have a great up beat 50's, 60's vibe to them and Debbie is an incredible singer with some beautiful voice .
Debbie is wow wow and one very beautiful lady and a brilliant singer and performer
Love this song. 80's and 70's music is the best
It’s original is from the 60s
80s and 90s
No auto tune. Real stuff. Back when New York was REALLY New York. I miss those days.
I couldn't say that better! I remember there was such creative energy in NY in the 80s. Like a renaissance happening at that time in theater, music and art. The best of times.
Touche NY!
Voice, looks, stage presence. To have all three - wow.
❤❤❤❤ concordo pienamente
Blondie.....probably the most beautiful pop star ever. No question.
Blondie - The group for which Debbie was lead singer.
For me it was Susanna Hoffs 😅
remove that "Probably"
Kate Bush.
The young Michelle Phillips from The Mamas and The Papas in the 1960s was quite the stunner.
This is where my love for Debbie started and it hasn’t stopped yet ❤
My granddad used to sing this around me but replaced Denise with my name. It's taken me years to find this song. I was 8 when he first did it, I'm now 21. It's been nearly a year since he's been gone. I miss him and I'm glad I found this to remember him.
Music is the mile markers of life. Some songs are like Time Machines that transport Us to different place in Time✌❤🤗
i’m doing that right now to my wife - Denise 😎

They were not just pretty faces, they made great music. This is my favourite
When you say Blondie people tend to think of Debbie Harry but the band was pretty good too. The French also adds a bit of " Je ne sais quoi ".
it is a cover

Pretty Faces? Debbie is the only pretty face in the band.
Um, Chris Stein was and still is very handsome.
What a gorgeous woman. Perfect facial features.

She was gorgeous and could sing and flaunt her stuff because she is brilliant.

70's & 80's best decades ever for music still hits today brilliant
Once again the drumming of Clem Burke elevates a great pop tune to another level ! He is fantastic!
I'm sure that Clems' drumming was inspired by Buddy Holly's drummer Jerry Allison...who sadly died last week.
