Thank you for sharing this! I never considered the possibility of something like that, I'll keep an eye on my local water supply for stuff like this too. I look forward to the future plans for fish!
I am so sorry to hear about your fish loss. I am originally from Nottingham but I emigrated To Newfoundland Canada in 1990 I have kept a lot of fish here and my fish room is my pride and joy. I know how you feel because last year a MINK got into my koi pond and wiped out every fish - I was devastated. Anyway I love your videos and I subscribed. I do auto water changes but I will be watching out for town water cleaning in the future.
Hi thank you very much appreciate your sub, yes its awful losing so many fish bet you were gutted when that happened, Nottingham is about 2hrs away from me I am in Stockport
Omg so sorry to hear this, glad you got to the bottom of it before doing water changes on all your tanks as could have been worse but that’s not any consultation! That’s really worrying about what they are putting in the water for all sorts of reasons! Makes me want to buy another RO system for drinking water! What a nightmare, thanks for sharing hopefully it prevents other people in ur area running into the same problem if they catch ur video! We don’t do water changes anymore as the tap water comes out with higher nasty levels than what we are taking out! Again sooo sorry this happened to you bud as we know you go the extra mile to look after your fish!!
Dear Paul: I’m very sorry that you suffered such a tragic loss. Thank you, for sharing this, important video. I’ll watch for warnings, from my, water district, should they notify us, they intend to do such a thing. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
Sad story and sorry for your loss. Another challenge for us all to learn from. So many sad stories in the hobby at the moment, here in the UK and over in the US. As ever we survive, learn and we move on. It gives opportunity to do something different. It wasn't that long ago you didn't want the bigger fish, but we change our minds and want different things.
So sorry to hear about that brother. Been watching your heterospila and breidohri come along for probably close to two years now. This hobby never fails to throw curveballs in our direction.
Extremely sorry for your loss, especially after all you hard effort. I have been keeping fish for over 40 years and have been fortunate enough, never to have experienced anything like this. However, I only use rainwater from my waterbutts that has been sitting for weeks. Although clean to the base, there is always life in my waterbutts, such as nymph larvae, bloodworms, daphnia, etc. These are filtered off prior, to water going to room temp. I have tested the water on occasion and it is almost perfect on all parameters.
Mate I'm gutted for yer but I'm going to change the subject if I can...Is that camera on the right of the video the canon m50?...Also how are your swordtails behaving? I haven't kept any for at least 15 years but I always remember the males being a pain in the arse chasing everything and causing havoc haha!...I was thinking of getting some in with my severum but maybe platies would be the safer option!

Don't know what to say, mate. Absolutely gutted for you. I've been caning fresh water into my tanks lately, and then Si posted a thing saying his Ph was really low.
@bigfishlad4847 My only saving grace is that I live next to the by pass, and I work next to the United Utilies place. Whenever I see loads of united utilities tankers heading there, it reminds me to keep an eye on my water
In 2008 they dug up the road outside where I live, come the Saturday morning I use to do all the tanks starting at 6 am because I was married family back then by the Sunday evening bar 3 fish everything was dead a terrible feeling and the nearest I’ve come to thinking maybe I won’t keep fish anymore, hang in there Paul 👍
I don't know what your water chemistry is like where you live, but it might also be worth checking Kh of your tap water. It is sometimes 0 dKH where I live (generally3-4) and I have suffered several ph crashes, and subsequent filter crashes as a result. I do wonder if some treatment used by water suppliers strips carbonate and bicarbonate out of the water. I now check mine before doing water changes and remineralise where necessary. HMA is a worthwhile investment, do a bit of research on the cartridges though. Hope you get sorted.
Condolences from my fish room in Chicago. Curious if you tested the water for the usual suspects just to rule something out there? though given multiple tanks crashed it probably was municipality to blame.
Oh no. Qualifies as a disaster in my book. So sorry mate. Seen this a few times both sides of the Atlantic. Gonna be honest you've already done more than most signing up for the email but feel like there should be a service the water company provide specifically for fish and aquatic creature keepers like and auto-text service. In a world where we are drowned in emails that is not enough and that's IF we've signed up. May be routine procedure for them but is a heavy loss to us in our pockets and are hearts. Might sound like I'm expecting too much but in these days of easy automated services I'm not sure.
I am so very sorry. I don't do water changes after a major rainfall or a big snow melt as they add more chemicals... I have filled the tub and has been yellow a few times and smelt of chlorine.... Again so sorry... It would take me a long time to get over Those are some interesting fish you are getting... Again sorry pal..

Absolutely terrible times mate… and the worse the water boards just don’t care about fish, aslong as it’s human safe ‘apparently’. Personally only drink bottled water, let me know if you want a hand fitting a HMA
Sorry for the second comment bud but in the email did they say you (as a human) shouldn’t be drinking the water in its current state?? This is actually worrying

I only do 10 - 15% max water changes because of how crappy our water is. So many people lose stuff after water changes over here.
