@@domin8ss We had lifter failure at 585 miles on our '21 Silverado 5.3 due to a widespread manufacturing defect. After four dealer visits over 51 days, it got fixed and is currently at 11,000 miles. With that said, the lifter design in the current DFM-equipped L84 5.3 has been around since 2014 on the simpler AFM-equipped 5.3 V8s and the trend I notice is the lifters tend to fail under normal wear and tear between 60k-80k miles, right when the powertrain warranty has expired. I have zero plans of owning this truck out of warranty as it's a roughly $5,000 job to get the lifters replaced and I don't like the truck enough to justify spending that kind of money on it even now.
PLEASE BUILD IT! I'm sick of see spectacular prototypes that never hit production. If chevy wants to be #1 again. They need to build vehicles like this. Bring back old school chevrolet competitive passion built vehicles.
I am actually intrigued by GM’s outside the box thinking of this vehicle. Basically an oversized side by side/ modified off road vehicle straight from the factory. Why not! And if it’s built as a purpose built off road only vehicle then it doesn’t need all the on road regulated nanny stuff. Could they build and sell this then well under the price of the Raptor and TRX? Interesting…
It's basically a side-by-side on steroids. No thanks. My offroader needs to be able tackle any terrain then come home and be able to take my lady to dinner.
All I see is a real life halo warthog and I’m 100% on board with this idea if the full production model retains some version of its warthog look I will love it
I'm not a car expert but, I'd love to see Chevy do something neat like this. Less concepty and more reality, but, an off road SUV based on the Silverado platform that doesn't look like you're picking up the kids at soccer practice would be super cool
Problem is WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE TO DO FOUR DOORS. Screw that...lets see more 2 door off roads. Ford understands this and we got the 2 Door Bronco....I don't want to bring my family or a group of rowdy friends with beer. 😂
Looks awesome but big difference is, at least on the concept, it's not really meant to be a daily driver. Mostly off-road only and fair weather only. But, I'd still buy one if I could afford it.
TBH i dont know why these manufacturers make these awesome "concept" vehicles that are more-less a factory production of what people, to some extent, end up customizing their truck into something more aggressive and capable. then you never see them again. Just make the beast and watch them fly out the door! alot of people buy a silverado and the first thing they do is a 6 inch lift wheels tires and suspension. then it builds from there.....imagine if they sold something all set up like this and then the buyers customized this vehicle...awesome possibilities,......just make the darn thing. i want one.
Looks like a truck based on halo. Looks impressive but they should have went with independent rear suspension for a better clearance and comfort. Still needs to come with a winch installed that’s my only two gripes. It will definitely compete with a Jeep which I think is why they made this concept truck. We will see between reliability and popularity if it takes off
GM only makes models that sell. Look at the Chevy Silverado ZR2. That will out sell the raptor or trx. They will not make something even close to the raptor or trx
I can work and drive around on my raptor and have seen some trx as well on dayli shores, will this one do the same? The concept is nice but is a one trick pony for how it looks.
Agree. I think when it’s compared to Raptor and TRX is more due to power train and suspension setup. This is far from being road worthy, with that said I think it can definitely be a bronco/Jeep competitor… specially with the performance trim those two other manufacturers are rumored to come out with.
Looks like it's the hummer chassis with less cladding and systems - they should make this a kit you can buy for $20K and convert an older ladder-frame truck chassis and add an engine/power plant of your choice and make it a dessert/dune/trail runner - "Blazer BEAST Pack"
It's nice but most common folk can't afford to take these 100k plus trucks offroad. You could get something old school and build it like that for a quarter of the price
Why they wouldn't take this platform and replace the current "Blazer" with this beauty is beyond me. Chevrolet has lost their touch a bit, they know how to build things, but they don't bring the cool stuff past the concept stage often enough. Build this, compete with Jeep and the new Broncos 😏
Ik, and they said it them self that trucks are paying their bills, so why they would't do another great built like C8 in truck market if they know they will be hot cakes, just like zr2 and bison
Gm must be running with old heads at the top. If they put this out they wouldn’t be able to make enough to keep up with demand. They should release this and rename it the warthog from the Halo video game.
Looks like a Warthog from Halo. Just needs a machine gun mounted on the back lol.
Same thought that I had!
Damn beat me to it
I’m so glad this was ready when I arrived
Im pretty sure that was the idea
Sure does 👍
GM/Chevy definitely need to build this machine. It is so freakin cool. Love the color also.
I would say he'll yes but I would call it the Trail Blazer

Here’s a concept: design a lifter that doesn’t destroy the engine within 5,000 miles.

20,000 miles on my 2020 Silverado and so going strong. No lifter issue so far. Looks like GM accomplished your request.

It's an interesting and amazing idea but concepts never go into production.
The trx did with more power...
This type of crossover vehicle between a truck and sxs could be the future with all the trail closures for unlicensed vehicles.
Definitely, Chevy should join the race!
This is the Chevy Wrangler/Bronco/Raptor/TRX fighter we need.
We need this truck!!!
Hell yeah they should put them in production i want one for sure
I'm definitely buying this
I would 100% buy this if it came out

That's the second warthog prototype that GM has released.
Looks like a warthog from the video game Halo.

If it was actually realistic, they would have a fighting chance.
Nice platform to go after the 4Runner with. Let’s say this could have been the new trailblazer.
More like the new blazer

Really cool, too bad it will never be a production car. GM is known for teasing cool concepts yet gives us crap
Wonder if Microsoft, bungie, or 343 studios is getting a cut. They can call it Beast but for us gamers it's a Warthog

Chevy always waters down there production model to the point that it is inferior to the competition.

Perfect mount barrett 50 cal take my money.

What could kill a raptor or a trx ?

Asteroid??

The shifter is from the Chevy Colorado

This looks so nice. I hate how you look at all new chevys and they got like 6 inches of clearance.
GM only makes models that sell. Look at the Chevy Silverado ZR2. That will out sell the raptor or trx. They will not make something even close to the raptor or trx
Half- Silverado, Half- Blazer, Half- Camaro.... All off-roader.
This is what the Blazer should have been
Wheelbase would be perfect for the chevy double cab with the 5'8" bed. They could compete IF they wanted to.........NO BALLS.
i would make it if i was the GM CEO, and use that frame and general concept for a gas powered hummer.
Place non visible thru doors, a windshield and I'll drive it to work, lol. Put me on the list🇺🇲
The USNC called. They want their vehicle back. You don't have the necessary clearance.
