Martin, if you're watching/reading I've commented on one of these reactions before, but it is worth repeating, THANK YOU for the years of your music and art. I have an Opeth tattoo largely because of your contributions to Opeth's sound and though I was sad when you left, but now we have Soen and Opeth. In a year with new Opeth, Devin Townsend and so much good music, yours was album of the year for me, EASILY.
Yep, that's pretty much what Soen did to me ("Opal" was my introduction to them as well).
They are a good group, loved their second album.
For me best band of the last decade. You guys already know this. Lol. Nice one and can’t wait for more! MORE!!!! 😜🤘❤️

Also when I see kel get emotion from a song it 'makes me smile' (see what I did there!) As its good to know I'm not on my own when I listen to certain artists and songs. Soen kings X and New Model Army are the 3 bands that always get me.
Martin Lopez was the one who introduced me to the metal world in 1999 with Opeth on the album Still life ... I almost cried when he left the band in 2005 after he presented the most beautiful drum line that I heard that year in the album Ghost reveries ... This man is my hero the most beautiful day of my life was When I heard that he formed SOEN ... Thank you, my friends

Try "The Words" next, your gonna love it
"God's Acre", and "The Other's Fall" are other great Soen songs (among many). "The Other's Fall" reaches unbelievable levels of intensity.
A minor nitpick: Marcus Jidell is the lead guitarist on this song (and the whole Lykaia album.)
It was actually my love of his tone and style that got me into Soen (and Evergrey since he had a short stint with them too.) That said, I really like everything Soen has put out. The songs “Pluton” and “The Other’s Fall” feature some absolutely amazing drum work from Martin.
Back to Marcus - you absolutely have to listen to some songs from his band Avatarium. The song that started it all for me was “Moonhorse”, but “Road to Jerusalem” (or pretty much any song chosen at random) would be as good a starting point.

I just ordered their last 2 CDs from Amazon. I had to pre-order the next Sons of Apollo release and also get the latest from Edenbridge so after listening to this latest reaction I decided to go ahead and get some of Soen's CDs. Very excellent, I must say. Great prog.
You need to listen to God's acre for me the most emotional song of them all and it touches my soul every time I hear it❤️ also it holds a very personal meaning for me but I'm sure you both will be blown away

@@williambevins You betcha. None of that slow boring elevator music for me. Give me Tool, Rammstein, Metallica, Soen any day. Growling voices like Jinger, Slipknot, etc. though... no way! It's a shame really, cause the music alone is great.
