Soen - The Words.
One of the most beautiful songs you'll hear in a while. And their sound is a great mixture of this and a little heavier side, but Joel's voice keeps not only clean, but right on focus, they give him his space to shine.
Franco Villamil the words is beautiful and haunting. Just a stunning band
#SOEN is led by former Opeth's drummer Martin Lopez, maybe that's why you might sometimes hear the „Opeth“ sound ;)

Hi Guys, i am from Holland. Yesterday i visited Soen on a concert in Holland. It was fantastic.
Lotus is my favorite Soen song, Martyrs as a close second.
Lucidity is also amazing. Actually, Soen is just plain amazing.
Saw them in concert a couple of weeks ago in Amsterdam, they blew me away live while I already had high expectations going there. Just wow!

I've been listening to these guys for two years and absolutely love them. Sweden produces great bands.
Not sure how I missed this First Soen reaction........ I have been spending the last 30mins listening to Soen songs you listened too already with Wendy ( wife ). When it got near the end, I turned to Wendy and said.... " That sounds like Floyd" THE EXACT same time Rich did...... I have goose bumps!! Cheers from Ottawa!

Just found Soen about a month or two ago. They've become one of my favorite bands already. I'd say try "River" from the most recent album. "Lucidity" from the last album. Or probably my favorite "The Words from 2 album's ago. Awesome stuff

Yes, that's exactly how I felt, so thanks a million. Their album by the same name "Lotus" is probably gonna be one of the best released this year. Glad you liked it.
P.S. This is a LIVE performance from their 2014 album "Tellurian" - SOEN - Tabula Rasa (Live in Graz) ruclips.net/video/60I8C5kbLFA/видео.html which is the only LIVE performance with good sound quality that I've been able to find in YT so far. It's a bit heavier, though.
And as has already been said, their drummer is Martin Lopez, who left Opeth because he had different ideas of what Opeth should be like, and formed his own band SOEN officially in 2010 (unofficially in 2004).
He is legend - Sand. Lesser known band, but I highly recommend checking them out. I think you’ll like them a lot.

One of my all time favorites.
Great sound. Huge influence from Pink Floyd. The guitar solo has echoes of Dark Side of the Moon. That's not a critcism of Soen, but a testament to the lasting greatness of Pink Floyd--it's hard for any progressive rock band NOT to have Floyd's fingerprints all over them.

Glad you did this one. Soen and Cellar Darling have my two favorite albums of this year so far. You really should just buy this whole album, every song on it is great. I've listened to it many times and it's only been released for a few months.
Yeah both are great. 2019 is a pretty good year so far. New Gloryhammer album at the horizon as well.

I love Soen - all of their albums are great and i saw them on Lykaia tour and that was so amazing - then Lotus came out and i saw them twice on that tour to get blown away!!!

Before Empath by Devin Townsend came out Soen's album for 2019 who's name escapes me was my favourite of 2019.

I heard about Soen just a couple of months ago (what a shame for me!). I heard this song and Martyrs from their 2019 album and I have decided to preorder it. Then a friend of mine, which put me into them, told me to try also “Lykaia” album - I said Okay, lets listen to it. First song - Wow!; Second - What?!?; Third - Holy mother of god...And like this to the end. Immediately bought all their albums and I am a fan now. “Lotus” most probably will be my favourite album for 2019, except if Psychotic Waltz will blessed me with their new album...If you guys pick blindly a song from the last too Soen albums, you will make no mistake, but if you ask me, then please try “Martyrs”.

A very good song. I was a girlfriend of the guitarist for a while. He dumped me during a festival we went to, though. He though that I was such a bore sleeping in our tent for two days due to a really bad case of a cold.

I really like Soen. My only problem with them is that their lead singer often refuses to let loose when I feel he should. It's like going to a series of delicious banquets but only rarely getting the desert.
Soen - Lotus is my album of 2019 so far, and I don't think it's as good as their last album, 2017's Lykaia
I totally agree! Lykaia is phenomenal, one of the best of all time for me, whereas Lotus, while also fantastic, doesn’t quite hit me as much as Lykaia does. Especially with its bonus tracks.
Just got into Soen recently, and I gotta say Lykaia is probably in my top 3 albums in general.

Great reaction. This last Soen album is like a combination of Floyd and Tool - to put it really simpy. Lotus is the the Floyd-side. I personally recommend this album and their first one: Cognitive, which is way more Tool-oriented. Don't get me wrong, they are not copy-cats, but the vide is really toolish. Fraccions, Fractal and Canvas are my favorites. Slithering too, but that would be in the vibe of Lotus.
