I got back into wrestling at Maina 30 and nothing has made me as happy as watching Dom grow into his character and his role in WWE. I am a Dom mark fs 💜
I know no one likes to talk about him but at a time when everyone in the WWF/E had mic skills, characters, catch phrases and were all 6'6 250lb+, Chris Benoit was 5'8", couldn't cut a promo to save his life and his character was just "angry technical wrestler guy" was able to get over in that environment strictly due to his in ring ability.
Dom I completely agree I love his angles, how he constantly gets booed ha ha sign me up! Even his story's are entertaining so if he was off our screens he'll be missed.
Watching Roman during 2015-2019, never thought he will ever be "truly" over with the fans. He was pushed down our throats but nobody cared. But then, Tribal Chief was born and rest is history
You're not kidding. Braun Strowman's 8th ever match was on Monday Night Raw. His first 7 matches were in NXT and none were televised and he did zero work on the indies beforehand.
He just kept on trying. He had a hipster gimmick, a tag team with the future Madman Fulton, and as you mentioned, the gimmick that was just "Two bandanas". Happy for him. He's finally found something that worked.
@@QuicklimeTime oh yeah so am I. But I remember about 3 years into his run I was like ‘oh shit it’s angelo Dawkins thought he had gone’ and he was still stirring the bowl. I just never thought they would give him the chance, not that he never earned it
I actually gotta agree with this list. Maybe I’d put a few of the superstars in different places, but as far as the wrestlers go, you’re 100% on point.
The Miz should get more respect. I'm not a fan of the guy, but he worked his tail off to become a good wrestler, and his character work is more effective as a heel.
The one thing I want to say about Miz. Way back when he was part of Tough Enough, there was a segment where the Tough Enough hopefuls had to cut a promo on Big Show, and then afterwards take a body slam from him. If you go back and watch it, every other guy there tried to sandbag Show, because they didn't get it. They didn't understand what you had to do to do business. But Miz did. When it was his turn to get slammed, he "posted" properly (if you don't know what that means, well, I don't feel like explaining it right now) and, more importantly, he SOLD it properly. And as a result (again, go back and watch it), Show pretty much hands out receipts to all of them, EXCEPT Miz. Because even back then, Miz GOT IT. Even when wrestling marks didn't.
Miz and Dom are incredible, but I somehow miss LA Knight, who got turned into a clown manager after being called up and got himself over with some of the most ridiculous pops in recent memories.
Once upon a time there was a certain individual called rick flair, who was wcw champion. He was so afraid of competition that he would held a tombola. And while the wrestlers in it were probably all amazing athletes they were all jobbers and cruiserweights. Cruiserweights were fun back in the time, but they were reguarly sacrificed to "bigger" talent. I dont remember the name the tombola first selected but it was a guy called Rey Mysterio who got the shot, because his previously picked friend was injured. And Mysterio actually won. So yeah I think the hall of famer did break every wall imaginable, but it was to this day still the biggest surprise in the world of professional Wrestling I could remember ^^
I don’t know if I’d put Roman on this list, his family, his look, coming up with the Shield. “Against all odds might be a stretch.” I’m also not sure if this is a list or a ranking. However I agree with some others in the comments, Miz definitely had the hardest road.
It's kind of hard for me to fully judge contemporary WWE as I've been out of the loop for a long time. But if there is one active guy on the list whose presence doesn't surprise me it's Baron Corbin. It always amazes me how long my friends who do watch the E have been discussing him. Just that name seems like it should have been a career killer. "Baron Corbin" sounds like it should be the name of a side character on Game of Thrones. Not that of a long-term wrestling star. And yet he is. It really is a mad world sometimes.
I’ve always loved the Miz I started watching in 2009 & was so upset when he lost to Cena in the loser leaves raw match, then jumped off the couch when he unmasked himself after beating Eugene as the Calgary Kid to re earn a contract
All of these are perfect. Apart from Becky Lynch, I give her props for becoming a main eventer from that Irish dancing gimmick. But I've never been able to take her seriously. Her promos, hits, and when she gets angry. But each to their own. I would like to add a future contender to this list: Nia Jax.
Dominik is something you knew it was going to happen... I mean they even made him skip NXT. He is always paired with a champ and that is how they got him to be on the spotlight
I wouldn't exactly say Barron Corbin is "over" at least not in the US, his team with Bron Breaker was kinda fun but that needed to go on for way longer before he would be able to carry that over into a singles run. This whole "burn the ships" thing is a neat sentiment but it's not something he's pulling off very well. I don't think I will ever see him as a main eventer, mid - upper mid card maybe for the IC or US titles or possibly Tag titles with the right teammate.
LA Knight should be at the top of the list, he first got turned into a male model by Vince then got told he's too old to be pushed, and look where he is today.
Yokozuna RIP BTW But a Samoan Posing as a Japanese Sumo guy should've flopped but somehow was successfull dumb luck I always said I'm sure the late Mr. Fuji and Rodney Anao'i was aware of this too
Simon, I love ALL these What Culture posts and the ppl that work with you and share the great content daily. Sure, you suck as a pro wrestler and are not very talented...... GOT YOU!!!!! 😂😂😂 I was only kidding. Please keep up the great work! I KNOW you won't respond. That is okay. Because of YOU MR. MILLER, I now, after 5 yrs. use daily some of your catch phrases. Warm and fuzzy in my tum tum and 1 + 1= potato are the norm. I AM sick and tired of slapping my self, but I just can't help it. YOU are a treasure😂😂😂❤❤❤ Thank you Brother. God bless.😊
His best trench-coat had "REPO" spelled out in stolen license plates from different states, but it was obviously a nightmare to carry around and go through customs with, plus it always fell apart (which added to its appeal, but it wasn't usable for long)...
Don't forget that The New Day started as Southern Gospel preachers. They needed to leave that bit behind and become the goof balls that they did end up becoming.
I don't very much like Logan Paul as a person but I'd be delusional not to give credit where credit is due. He is a great wrestler, and the only people who say he's not are blinded by their hatred of him.
At least somebody liked it. Didn't stop Him being bland at best and truly awful at worst. Everything that can be said about post-Shield to tribal chief Roman has been said many times. Vince was shaping up to go through the same process of cramming down the throats of fans His latest 'next big thing',before He was forced out(for obvious reasons) Austin Theory would have been pushed and pushed, time after time,no matter how much we may have hated it. All to satisfy the tastes of a man who was both,a) out of touch with his audience and b) spiteful. So when it was brought to his attention that the fans didn't want to see X as the top guy he would just keep going with his choice. Often cutting the legs out from under whoever it was the fans actually cheered
Bayley should be here. The hugger gimmick is one of the worst gimmick concepts ever imo. 99% of wrestlers would have been out of the company in a month, but Bayley made it good
For as “hot” as wrestling is supposed to be now I can’t help but notice a huge decline in views for all the RUclips channels., not sure if it’s because people are tired of their opinions or what..
At the end of the day; regardless of his skill level, Logan Paul is still a scrofulous individual. I hope we don't see him for a long time now that he lost his belt.

Miz is #1. Anyone else in that position is just a trivia question.

I agree Dom will be one of the greatest in WWE but not until he beats his pops at the next WM or he'll never escape that shadow looming over him.
Angelo Dawkins. Spent 4 years in nxt stirring an imaginary bowl whilst wearing 2 bandanas. Never thought he would get up there

Triple H trained personally with Braun in arenas when they traveled around. A friend's husband works in an arena so he saw it happening.
Honourable mention Damien Sandow
