Even if you're not a South Park fan this game is an excellent example of how licensed TV and movie games should be handled. The creators and producers of the show are gamers themselves, they had a direct influence on everything that was created for the game, and they took their time to create a quality product instead of a rushed out game that just had the name of the show on it.
If anyone is on the fence or ever considered buying this game, it's on sale on Steam right now. And lemme tell you, even as someone who hasn't watched South Park, this game is fantastic!
+James Sinn You know, for a second there I was excited and wanted to buy it right now, but then I remembered I live in Germany and it's censored...fuck.
Another fact: Stick of Truth was initially going to have foreign language dubs; even the trailers were in various languages other than English: French, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch, and Portuguese. When THQ went bankrupt and the rights of the game were bought by Ubisoft, the dubs were scrapped and only the text was translated. It's ironic because Ubisoft is known to be pro-dubbing.
This game is for every south park fan. No really. This is the right way to make a licensed game. There have been other south park games, but this is the definitive way the south park gaming franchise started.
+LopperUK I was like hmmm why did they choose that title for the sequel? Then i said it out loud and was like wait... -___- "fractured butthole"... oh SOUTH PARK
This is my favorite Did You Know Gaming episode, ever. The whole thing read like an actual South Park episode with all the ridiculous but understanding ideas in place, and the monotone narration made it even better, bravo!
A really great game, Obsidian deserves all the praise. They are one of the few companies who still knows how to develop a really good rpg. Even Bioware and Bethesda lost their touch with time, but Obsidian remains strong as ever. Parker and Trey choose them wisely.
I loved this game! It was like a love letter to the fans and reminded me why I adore the show. Not to mention, it felt just like playing through a South Park episode. Not many licensed games can pull that off. Can't wait for the next one!
so true, it was nice that it felt like playing through a south park episode. it was hilarious and fun. most licensed games don't do that. this is why alot of gamers avoid games based on movies and such because there is usually no passion made into it but you can clearly feel the passion that the creators put into this video game. Anyone who likes the series would like this game.
Wow, bravo. Can we have more episodes like this where you give ample time dedicated to a single title's development cycle? This episode was well researched and interesting throughout, following the dev cycle added a story arc to the episode that made it much more enjoyable and Caddy did a fine job.
There is still a reference to the fight between the crab people and the underpants gnomes - you get an achievement for befriending both, which suggests they are at odds.
About the censorship in the german version regarding swastikas: thats not a decision up to the publisher. They are forced to do this by law as the swastika and a bunch of other symbols used by the nazis are forbidden by our our constitution. They may only be used in films under certain circumstances and for educational purposes. They are completely off limits in video games, though.
+Localhorst86 it's so dumb, the least germany could do is add a special case where it can be used as long as it's made fun of or something, or even better as long as it's just not glorified.
+Tim Stahel (Moustached Viking) i want to revise my statement. they could actually have released it with swastikas intact. this would have had a few major repercussions. the game could not be openly sold or advertised in stores as it would be put on the index of the bpjm. only people above the age of 18 could buy it, underage people would not be allowed access to it.
+Justin Clatyon true, but that's not the issue. There's a difference between 18+ games and games indexed by the bpjm. 18+ games like call of duty can still be openly sold in a regular electronics store or Amazon. if the game is put on the bpjm index due to symbols that are against the constitution this is no longer the case, the game must not be accessible to minors, even visualy. Also, they could not distribute it digitally via Xbox live due to this fact. they could have released it uncensored but they would not have been able to reasonably sell it.
The whole censoring thing is pure bullshit. People are censoring art, because what? They dislike the humor? They cant laugh about things that happened? Kinda ironic, considering the titanic sunk with a few thousand people dying and now is often used for fun activities in theme parks and shit. Censoring art is fucking illegal and people somehow still think its legit to censor videogames that are from adults, to adults.
People who support any type of censorship are fascists whether they realize it or not. Censorship is never right. There is absolutely no situation where censorship can be considered acceptable. When it comes to humor, where do you draw the line?! It's either all okay or none of it okay. You can't have your cake and eat it too, especially when it comes to censorship.
Censoring content to avoid offended people is a common practice and in my opinion sets a very dangerous precedent. People absolutely have the right to be offended, but they don't have the right to censor other people because of it.
Stick of Truth was so good, i hope the next one that Matt & Trey do is just as good. I love the care they take with their creation and how involved they were in the process
+Elf Monster in WoW when someone of the opposite faction typed out "lol" it would show up as kek because your character didn't understand the language.
+Twilord It probably would have been censored more than the PS3 and Xbox 360 Versions. You should know how Nintendo is with heavy with censorship. Also it was Ubisoft's choice to not put it on Nintendo platforms, Tray, Matt, and Obsidian Games had nothing to do with that.
+maciekx10 I'm afraid all they did was removing the Season Passes and reduced the heavy DRM that used to be constantly checking the game in the background. Used to be so bad that at times a game would either have slow downs or just fail the Drm check. I am afraid Uplay is here to stay just like origin battle.net and so on
Manuel Ellul I will still have hope that in the future they will burn in the pits of program hell where programs that are shit and no normal human being wants to use reside
+DarthKato If you like this game, you like South Park. The game itself is barely competent at best, repetitive at worst. It leans entirely on references from the show
Elf Monster That is actually not the case. I hate the show, but for some strange reason I liked the game. I didn't actually play the game, instead I watched a playthrough. And I found it quite interesting
DarthKato So you didn't even played it but watch someone play it? That's basically like watching an episode of South Park. You like the show. Don't be ashamed, it's a really clever show that delivers spot-on social commentary and satire.
Elf Monster Look, I don't know how else to say this. I do not, in any way, like the show. If I did, I would say so. There was just something about the game(Probably the LARP and RPG stuff) that caught my interest.
the whole game is a reflection of a show.... its like watching an episode of south park... every episode is different from one another, so i highly doubt you gave south park any chance, you probably just watched one episode and didnt like it and based your opinion on it.
+IL4NR Do they just act ignorant and pretend it never happened over there or something? I mean god, schools over here in the USA force feed the fact that we owned slaves at one point. I mean, they really hammer that point in.
+Robert Sides They realize they have to own up to it and teach it to them while in schools but outside of school projects it's pretty illegal to do anything with the Nazi regime in Germany.
grimr34per343 For the sake of satire though, that's a little silly. Making fun of something is way better than hiding it and pretending it never happened. Brushing shit under the rug like that is exactly how history ends up repeating itself.
+Wol1427 Oh shut the hell up. Every company censors their games one way or another depending on the region. Sony, for example, heavily censored The Last of Us(and many of their other games) in Japan because it was too violent. Yet no one seems to know or care about that... Nintendo may be the one that gets the most attention on this subject, but they are not the only ones that do it, nor are they the ones responsible for the most heaviest of censorship in recent years. Besides, Does no one remember the South Park game that was released on the N64?! That game was about as raw as it gets.
The point is I would have preferred it on my Wii U. It would have been better to play with the gamepad. Most games, especially RPGs, would be. There's no reason not to. The tech is right there. The game has been programmed already. I may have actually paid for it if I could have bought it for my Wii U. What's the point of NOT publishing it on a console that could easily support it and offer an enhanced experience?
Just started this game today and I'm addicted! I can't wait for The Fractured But Whole (mainly because I loved the episodes where the kids are playing superheroes).
Am I the only one who would gladly buy part 2 through however many it required, to play all the stuff they had to take out (if it wasn't subsequently used for The Fractured But Whole, of course). So many cool-sounding things that would be awesome, even if it was using the initial game's structure, fighting system, etc.
This game is so good. Even better if you're a big South Park fan. I've played through the game as a Mage and a Thief, and plan on playing as the Fighter and Jew before The Fractured But Whole comes out. I hope it's just as good or better.
I got this game on sale about a year ago, and I'm not the biggest south park fan, but this game is amazing! Played through it about 4 or 5 times just to get all the achievements, I loved it!
this was a great game to play with friends when it came out we knew our parents would really get on us for playing it so what we ended up doing is I bought it during a steam Christmas sale and we streamed it on one of my friends TV's and played for 2 days before beating the game 100% it was the funniest party we ever had
4:00 I didn't know that actually. I assumed it was always Ubisoft. Especially given that cancelled south park game that was also being made by them. 5:10 Censors suck.
kind of surprised theres no mention to how the game ties directly to the black Friday trilogy being the ending of the trilogy has the stick that is the plot devise for the game with them still being in character from the trilogy.
Stick of truth is an awesome game. The only drawback was it was to short. Now I know why, cause they cut so much cool parts of the game. If I have anything to say for the second game they better make it longer. No 12 hrs but like two disc longer lol
Parker and Stone's free reign is what made this game fucking amazing and their hands being tied is what held back Fractured But Whole from it's potential.
I don't know why nobody mentions more about when you turn on the TV in certain parts of the game. If you turn on a TV before you report in to Kyle in the Elven Forest after Clyde has the Stick of Truth you can listen to the ENTIRETY of a South Park Episode. This episode being Season 2 Episode 1: Terrence and Phillip in Not Without my Anus.
Even if you're not a South Park fan this game is an excellent example of how licensed TV and movie games should be handled. The creators and producers of the show are gamers themselves, they had a direct influence on everything that was created for the game, and they took their time to create a quality product instead of a rushed out game that just had the name of the show on it.
ok.
Dire wolves
True.
a tip: you can watch series at flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Ramon Jack definitely, I have been watching on flixzone for since november myself =)
Never fart on a man's balls.
The Legend of Zelda is not an RPG, you fffffffffucks.
Can you do a did you know gaming video on the Xenoblade Chronicles?
+DidYouKnowGaming? Depends on which one you're talking about, I think.
+DidYouKnowGaming? But it was what saved the world........
+Pluto Bone You play a role, in a game, and you go on a quest and constantly upgrade yourself. If it's not an RPG it's pretty darn close.
If anyone is on the fence or ever considered buying this game, it's on sale on Steam right now. And lemme tell you, even as someone who hasn't watched South Park, this game is fantastic!
+James Sinn go watch South park
+James Sinn You know, for a second there I was excited and wanted to buy it right now, but then I remembered I live in Germany and it's censored...fuck.

Legit the best class in the game.
Another fact: Stick of Truth was initially going to have foreign language dubs; even the trailers were in various languages other than English: French, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch, and Portuguese. Afther 4 years heres a like
Can't wait for The Fractured But Whole
+LopperUK "giant but whole" aaah, dark souls...
+LopperUK haha you said "but whole"
+DidYouKnowGaming ? Nice fake account.
+LopperUK I was like hmmm why did they choose that title for the sequel? Then i said it out loud and was like wait... -___- "fractured butthole"... oh SOUTH PARK
+Eugene InLaw Tongue But Hole
03:56 haha thats lucario!!!
+Zidane Mina Is it wrong that he looks better than regular Lucario?
+Ultimate Charizard the egiptian/anubis look fits him well. haha. it looks nice, indeed
Looks so cool. Too bad that was cut.
+Ultimate Charizard that's what I thought too when I saw it lol
+Zidane Mina Probably because Lucario was inspired by Anubis?
3:58 South Park created a Lucario that looks better than Lucario before Game Freak did.
+Abel They didn't create it, those were cut chinpokomon from the game.
+NIGHTMARE8877 which was created by South Park crew, so yeah they did created Lucario before Lucario
artistafrustrado1 What? This game was made in 2014 and development started in 2011.
+Abel
That's not even.....
That's an Anubis....
+NIGHTMARE8877 No they were created MUCH earlier than 2011. They were cut Chinpokomon from the Show, not the Game.
This is my favorite Did You Know Gaming episode, ever. The whole thing read like an actual South Park episode with all the ridiculous but understanding ideas in place, and the monotone narration made it even better, bravo!
The voices thing is definitely funny, I can only imagine how that must have sounded in the workplace XD
+Whofan06 Your profile pic really adds to this comment. XD
A really great game, Obsidian deserves all the praise. They are one of the few companies who still knows how to develop a really good rpg. Even Bioware and Bethesda lost their touch with time, but Obsidian remains strong as ever. Parker and Trey choose them wisely.
*hears princess kenny song*
*loud wheezing in the distance*
I downloaded it
Oh all the censorship they had to do and redo!
+DidYouKnowGaming ? GET OUT BOT
+DidYouKnowGaming ? fake
+DidYouKnowGaming ? Fake
+Fiaura The Tank Girl They really saved many and many people from feeling slightly uncomfortable about a videogame's content that they will never play
+Fiaura The Tank Girl All the more reason to own a PC. You can still play consoles, but it never hurts to have a mid power range one lying around.
9 DYKG EPISODES IN 2 WEEKS WHATS GOING ON
Exactly. This is the most spoiled I've felt lol
+TheAlexJ Probably tryin to make extra money. Increase for youtube peeps in november and december because of higher ad revenues for xmas season
+TheAlexJ They are doing 3 a week now
+TheAlexJ There was once a time where we were in a DYKG drought. Those were dark, dark times
+TheYoungSandwich We blamed all white knights, killing them and extinct today

Boo, censorship of games, boo.
Boo, Wendy Testaburger, boo
Boo, Germany and Australia, boo.
Looking back on this, lmao fuck this attitude I don't give a shit about "censorship" of a fucking South Park game
@@ChristianCTaken nobody gives a shit
The game came out amazing and was praised by everybody. Imagine how much more awesome it would be if all those ideas weren't cut? Oh man
That Kenny theme at the end though... To fantastic. Xb
Princess a-Kenny-oo.
You know this is a Easteregg and is Actually based of the Opening of the "Princess Lover" Anime?
Don't really watch anime, -My icon is a character from some game in an anime style-, so I didn't know that.
Mystic Shadows Its fine ^^ I just like to tell facts xD
itsPendra Alright.

+Localhorst86 The game is recommended for an adult audience.

The information seems fractured but whole.
You clever little fuck.
+Aidan Lappin
I think he knows....
i wish they included everything they originally planned to put in the game
sounds so cool
I know it sounded awesome. I think they'll do more with The Fractured But Whole tho
That's funny he mentioned a "PC" version of this game....

Why sensor shit that defines south park lol
Because people's feelings are more fragile then glass
+The Chaos Thats True people now a days get offended easly.
+Ldftwin maybe... they felt it's not P.C. bro? XD
+The Chaos Absolutely no one in Australia would be offended, we just got stupid ratings department
+Ldftwin Well, in Germany's case specifically, the usage of such Nazi imagery in a non-educational setting is illegal in most cases.
3:23 Aww, yeah! I was worried I wouldn't get to hear Jimmy the Bard's awesome tune here, but here it is!
So, a South Park game was inspired by many of our childhood classics...
*_Kek_*
Kek?
+Elf Monster kek
+Elf Monster in WoW when someone of the opposite faction typed out "lol" it would show up as kek because your character didn't understand the language.
+. “Senjee” I remember I was once told "kek" happened from a misspelling of "lol" being "lel" and then "kek" was a misspelling of "lel" :P
+ShadowSilver1991 I'm offended, not by kek, but the fact that you didn't say *TOP* kek.
Actual Egyptian Lucario. I don't care if that was made as a joke, that's genuinely fucking epic.
So that's why Yahtzee kept mentioning that crying koala, it wasn't really in the game, it was censorship
Is it just me or I feel like I keep seeing did you knows like a week before they come out
Massively inspired by Nintendo - do nothing to get it on Wii-U or 3DS.
They're just like real developers.
+Twilord If it was on Nintendo every scene would've been censored tho to make the game PG +3 ;)
+Mikko Virta (Chromasus) Except Binding of Isaac just came to Wii U and 3DS.

I don't like South Park and even I liked this game. That goes to show what a hell of a job they did with it.

I'm so happy I got to play the uncensored version.
Inspired by Paper Mario, Earthbound, and Zelda, and yet they snubbed Wii U on their release...
Nintendo would destroy everything they'd do on the game, Ultra Censorship.
+Wol1427 Bayonetta 2 was a Wii U exclusive.
But, nah, I know what you're saying.
+Wol1427 Oh shut the hell up.

it's blocked in my country for some reason.
+DidYouKnowGaming ? wtf is this shit?
Fake
+itaybron What country ?
videogamebomer
israel, fuck if i know why, someone's blocking games on steam for us.
itaybron But you can play as a Jew in the game wouldn't make them want to allow it
1:24 I always KNEW it was inspired by paper Mario just by playing it, no other RPG I played before then was as similar.
"...HUGE fans of rpgs."
Favorite game is Skyrim.
Pffftthahahahahaha
+Sovspot Still better than saying Fallout 4 is your favorite RPG.
Fallout 4 is my favourite RPG.
Going mad bro?

5:10 Censors suck.
I loved this game. Can't wait for the next one to come out this year!
love this game
A licensed game gone right.
This game is amazing and I cannot wait for the sequel.
Goddamn that battle music is always so kickass.
Great job Obsidian & Ubisoft for allowing Trey and Matt to do what they do best.
03:57 The Egyptian Chinpokomon on the right kind of resembles Lucario.
3:22 if there was a paladin class i would have bought the game no questions asked
lol "Purinsesu Keni" Song playing in the background at the end.
3:56 That unused Chimpokomon looks a lot like Lucario, was he a thing back when that episode was out?
+larryinc64 No, the chinpokomon episode was released in 1999. Lucario first appearance was in Lucario and the mystery of mew, released in 2005.
Robotick01 Heh, what a weird coincidence.
That one is definitely based on Anubis but I'm not sure about Lucarios origins
i was so excited to watch this when i saw this in my emails! love south park, great video. excited for the new game ♥
I get the feeling you haven't even played the first game.
Saffron Taylor That explains enough.
How ironic that the PC version of 'The Stick of Truth' is in fact the only version completely uncensored.
That's why bought it
So I just found out you can fight the bank teller in this game I never knew that till just now
ANOTHER video? My body is not ready for this much trivia
This was actually one of my favourite games
kind of surprised theres no mention to how the game ties directly to the black Friday trilogy being the ending of the trilogy has the stick that is the plot devise for the game with them still being in character from the trilogy.
Just bought this on the Steam sale, love the game.
A South Park game made like how it’s supposed to be made,
no 3D graphics.
my favorite game ever, second fallout new Vegas, third saints row 2\or mafia 2
Would the Christmas town be similar to the dark world in Zelda ?
A very special game! Anyone who slightly like South Park will be in tears of joy it was such an amazing fun game!
Stick of truth is an awesome game. The only drawback was it was to short. Now I know why, cause they cut so much cool parts of the game. If I have anything to say for the second game they better make it longer. No 12 hrs but like two disc longer lol
stick of truth was so much more funnier than fractured but whole
Gotta STICK with it!
+Michael Aiyedun i disliked your comment even though it won't do anything
BADDUM TSSS
+wazzuper11 I miss that function 😭
You need to stop with the bad jokes. Serious, every comment of you is MAKING A BAD JOKE.
fallout 4 is a pg (i have no idea what they did with the r)
+Caddicarus, it's called a fitting room or booth.
This game has been sitting on my shelf for a year now. I should play it.
Oh my god Matt and Trey know how to censor stuff, and still make it funny
Parker and Stone's free reign is what made this game fucking amazing and their hands being tied is what held back Fractured But Whole from it's potential.
Even with their hands tied they did a lot with FBW. That actually impressed me
If there's anymore left to squeeze out of Animal Crossing I'd love to see another AC video :).
I love DYKG thank you for this video
The guy doing the VO for this sounds like every Canadian character in South Park.
I want the vampire kid fight!
Gawd, i still need to play this. I bought it a year ago on Black Friday, but it's just been sitting on top of a rapidly growing to-do pile ever since.
i know the chimpokomon are a gag on pokemon but that Anubis one actually looks really cool.
i freakin loved this game.
