The PS2 Intro sound.... so much nostalgia. Interesting video, i remember hearing similar stories about the PS3's CPU being used in missiles by terrorists. Its just fear mongering.
I'm not sure why, but I always found the system menu very mystic and calming. I remember a day were I sat there for 10 minutes watching the towers of the startup screen, over, and over, and over
I miss the ps2 era because back then it didnt matter how good the online play was and when you bought the game you bought the FULL game, no need to worry about add on bullshit. The main thing about gaming back then was does it have a good story? Is it fun to play and are the characters cool? Now its like you spend $60.00 an only get half the game because theres so many goddamn add ons. Anyways cool video dude, I enjoyed it

You usually got extras as you played through the games too. Making of videos, concept art etc. That was back when the customer was right. Now the customer is an asshole because companies rarely do business face to face anymore so it's all dehumanised and cold.
The PS2 was THE gaming console. I've had one since I was a child and it still works to this day. I dare say there will never be as good a console as the PS2 was in it's day.
Patrick imnottellingyou Well then you would be wrong since they showed in the video that the Ps2 has had the best run in all regions xD and sold almost twice as many as the xbox 360.
WackyIdeas I use to hate that shit, when ever my little sister was in the room she use to cry because it was that scary...ahh i miss those scary sounds.....
The PS2 was my life back in the day. Not to mention that it played PS1 games and DVD's. It was the best thing I had for awhile. 10+ years with that thing and it finally gave out.
Arguably was the best console so far. It had everything; great design, functionality, 3rd party support (although no one wanted to play with a third party controller), thousands of games - fairly priced...just great console.
I will agree with you about the controllers, I bought like 2 cheap ones for DBZ budokai Tenkaichi, and the joystick rotating rapidly broke them, I needed to put a part from a real ps2 controller to work.
TheGenerationExtreme TGX Oh I love the gamecube, genuinely awesome console - it just didn't really take off - I only bought my gamecube for mario games, I think that limitation is what affected it.
Adrian Alvarado Haha, yes - I remember you could get the ones with rapid fire built in, utterly useless. I can't wait to run out of ammo when I'm playing COD. (note: I've stopped playing COD now, meh)
The DC/Playstation 2/GC/Xbox Era was the last classic gaming generation. It was about games, not who had the biggest exclusives, the greatest graphics, or the fanciest DLC. The Playstation 2 was hardly the most powerful gaming console, but it was the best one and the most popular because it had the GAMES. Then came the following generation, which pretty much changed gaming as we knew it. Nintendo went on a motion control fad that eventually blew up in their face, and PS3 and XB360 went on a race to see who can grab the next hot "exclusive". Games stopped being full games, studios shut down (Hudson Soft died) several beloved gaming franchises died/decayed (Sonic, Mega Man, Banjo-Kazooie and Final Fantasy the biggest names to fall), and many more became overbudgeted and bloated but ultimately incomplete and unfulfilled movie mediocrity. Oh, You want the full experience now? Better invest in some microtransactions and DLC. Hey, our games look like MOVIES now, well who cares when your game is still extremely forgettable and sloppy? It's as if Developers stopped having fun making games and placed more effort on shitting out something just for people to buy. Even Nintendo fell prey to this.
While I agree that it was the last classic gaming generation, I don't think the Ps2 was the best system. The Gamecube had so many classics on it such as Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, The legend of Zelda Wind Waker, Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart Double Dash, Pikmin, Kirby Air Ride, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Resident Evil 4, And a lot more. All those games gave me lots of fun memories. But I guess it all comes down to personal preference.
Yeah that's true if Nintendo didn't have exclusives they would've been f*cked. And I agree, If Microsoft never had Halo they probably wouldn't be making consoles right now
The day I will turn my PS2 into a robot and whenever I signal it to come over, it will plug itself in and set up games for me. I can imagine it with wheels. XD
The Ps2 had the best games in the freaking world. The games were fair, no microtransaction and DLC junk. The games were made very well. The buggy games of today on the Ps3/Ps4 are a complete joke compared to PS2 games. I thought the new internet features of the Ps3 era would make gaming so amazing through the roof, but I was wrong. Ridiculously wrong. So wrong that I so regret being excited for it.
Shawn Pal I play Ps1 games. PS Classics are awesome. Got all 3 Spyro games on my Ps Vita as well as Ridge Racer Type-4. I also have the disc of Ape Escape. I got to say, the Spyro games are the best platformer games I have ever played.
I have my skinny ps2 from my big bro. the two spongebob games with the same playstyle are my favorite ps2 games. they have the same attacks for the characters and all
Alright some of your points are good. I don't like the look of the fat ps2's but I love the slim ones. Until the mid 2000's, no one really cared about their controllers, and for sony to make a decent enough one in 1995 is quite good. Correct! People bought it over sega, because it played dvds, which held more data. A massive selling point is that it can play dvd's. Back then it was either bad looking vhs tapes or spending hundreds of pounds on a dvd player. Say if a dad wanted a dvd player, and his kid wanted a ps2, bam! A two in one console, which can even play in HD! But yes, your point still is good being it killed sega. My favorite console of all time killed sega's consoles! Not all of it was ps2's fault though, the sega saturn was released early, and was a a total disaster. No internal hardrive, but you didn't need it back then. Back then, there were few, if any updates for games. Plus, it would be easy to take memory round your friends house via memorycard! Steet fighter ex3 was pretty good, and unreal tournament were amazing launch titles! I do agree the internet was bad, I think Xbox did a dam good job with that. Bad video quality? You can play it in HD! I have got it connected up with my gamcapture, and it looks great! Phew! I said a lot. nuff said
True dat. iv'e got about 30 ps2 games and i use one 8mb memory card! I'm just glad that you havn't been a dick about it, this was more of a debate than an arguement. I guess everyone liked the ps2 using dvd was because it was the first console to do so. ps2 1999 gamecube 2001 (no dvd) xbox 2001 And also i guess the sales speak for themselves: gamecube 22mil xbox 24+mil ps2 (best selling console of all time) 155mil Mine and your statements are both good, but the ps2 was so easy to take around. I even play it in the car now!
You know what can be also used for military purposes? Spoons. Beside using them for feeding soldiers, field agents and terrorists, spoons can be also sharpened and used as a weapon. So hey, why not complicate international trading of spoons?
God, I have so many memories of plugging my PS2 in my tv and playing Gran Turismo 3 and Kingdom Hearts. I also remember going down for a glass of water every night and seeing my dad/mom playing GTA San Andreas.
I personally played an amazing little game called Dragon Quest 8 - Journey of the cursed king. I'd suggest grabbing it on emulator if you got a pc that can run it at a resolution higher than default and on opengl.
I still own my ps2 today. Exact same one I got on Christmas and I love it ever so dearly. The ps2 and the ps1 were the consoles that really defined my gaming beginnings
Über eXe yeah, that old console that gave us GTA San Andreas, Vice City, MGS 3, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Ratchet & Clank, Persona 3 and 4 and list goes on..
Über eXe PS3 has been out for 8 years now, yet there is what about 40-80 games out now? And the PS4 has been out for a year with only about a number of games that I can count on both hands.
Everything since the 16 bits has been awesome. The 32/64s brought us 3D and excellent games, this era brought us online games and more believable 3D, PS3/Xbox 360 made online play popular (in consoles, PCs have been doing it for donkeys years), and the PS4/Xbone brought us '£400 CONSOLE KILLER PC MUST WATCH PLZ'
PS2 was probably one of the best console systems I've ever owned. Even though I don't buy consoles anymore because I play on PC now. I spent 100+ hours on Kingdom Hearts 2 when that came out.
The console that killed the Dreamcast, I'm sure it wasn't intended to work that well against SEGA and Nintendo, but by god, the PS2, well done, what a wonderful machine.
I think if SEGA had met the demands for the Dreamcast (they've ran out of money and consoles after the first batch) and had a DVD drive installed, then we'd be playing Mario games on SEGA consoles right now.
***** And back then the games just worked...We didn't have to deal with patches and system updates or anything like that, no overpriced subscription services for multiplayer but just friends on a couch...
Piegamer710 No focus on games trying to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible. Back when we weren't overflooded with sequels and no over abundance of cross gen games.
God I love my PS2. Ratchet and clank, sly cooper, jak and daxter, prince of Persia. I have so many good memories. I still occasionally play it to this day. The best bit about the PS2? When you bought a game it was complete and it would work. No day one patches or day one dlc or pre order bonuses. Just a game. And it was god damn fantastic. #PS2memories
Netflix released this CD in Brazil because to this day the console is very popular here, as well as the Master System and the Mega Drive that eventually gain official re-releases
While the NES and SNES might be my personal faves, I can't at all deny that PS2 is probably the best console of all time in an objective sense. So many games, so much third party support, so much life for so many years (almost a decade and a half; by far the most 'real' life of any console, not counting recent homebrews and such for older ones), so much capability for its time (working cd/dvd player, working harddrives, working online adapters, etc.), and like you said, no fuss.. just play the games you wanna play and with a perfect little controller that didn't try to be anything too complicated. What a damn fine console.
I fucking love the ps2 and gamecube. Those 2 consoles were my only consoles when i was a kid. Brings back great memories of me and my brothers messing around.
I noticed that pretty much every guest commentator for these videos advertises themselves like: "And if you wanna see some horrendous abomimations with my stupid face in them, check out my shitty ass channel." I love the exaggerated modesty lol
cosmo6871 Oh gosh, I didn't mean that in the way you may think. I meant that they all advertise their channels as being terrible. I have no problem with them advertising their channel at all.
Unless it's MatPat. He's always like "To hear more about my amazing and flawless theories you should come to my channel. Oh, yeah, and DYKG is good too, I guess."
greatest music player - Maybe greatest dvd player - no. Maybe at the time but currently you could buy cheap HDMI Scaler DVD players that play DVDs in better quality
When the PS2 came out, dvd players were still a new technology. I remember dvd players costing $500USD and up. It's similar to the PS3 being the best blu ray player when it came out, with many blu ray players costing around $1,000.
PlayStation 2 was the golden era of video gaming. Many great games, especially RPGs, were made during this time. No season passes, no DLCs, no BS. Just full complete game experiences. Kids these days will never understand how great the PS2 was.
Ah, 2007, Christmas Day. I woke up with my brother and sisters and saw a big box by the tree. We opened it up and were psyched to find a PS2, my very first console. Good times. My first game that I ever owned was ATV Offroad Fury 4. Do you guys remember it?
BullShitThat Not really. Even for the time the PS2 wasn't that powerful. The GameCube and Xbox were far more powerful. Even the Dreamcast was more powerful than the PS2.
AliAliDillyDally Assuming what you said is actually true, even still, the GC and Xbox came out after the PS2 (so that shouldn't be a surprise), and the Dreamcast crashed and burned before it even took off. So really the PS2 had no real competition during its debut.
FYI... In Mexico and whole Latin America, this was the most hacked console ever. Also, there are places called "maquinitas" where you can play hijacked, pirate versions of all games for less than a $1 per hour.
"The Third Place" seems like a terrible idea for a slogan for a game console that is was sold in a competitive market between THREE different consoles by THREE different companies.
I got a PS2 in 2004 and never had any problem with it even though my grandpa accidentally threw it to the ground several times... Got a Wii and before a year passed it couldnt read disks.
By tripping over the controller's cable (hope i said that right, english is not my native language) it was kinda annoying but surprisingly it never affected the PS2 :D
Chrono Cross was an amazing game. Chrono Trigger on the other hand... eh... not so much. Cross basically feels like a much more polished version of Trigger. You should try it out!
1:55 Why is there footage of the FMV sequences of Chrono Cross here? That was a PlayStation 1 game - I know because I only ever had a PlayStation 1 and played the HELL out of Chrono Cross. (Yes, Chrono Cross is related to Chrono Trigger.)
I've got fond memories of the PS2 for games like GTA and Guitar Hero, among other games, even though I still have never owned one. I do have a PSP though.
It's somewhat easier to modify an original Xbox as a weapon than a PS2 since the Xbox is a modified Pentium III PC running a modified version of Windows NT. Of course, it'd be a better idea to use a PS4 or Xbox one instead since they use more modern PC hardware.
because the PS2's reign was before the time when power was the only thing people took into account. also i've noticed that everybody loves the PS2. no matter if you are a super xbox or nintendo fan, the PS2 is an undeniably astounding console.
It's funny that there was so much unfounded fear that the PS2 would become "weaponized" and be used for war-related purposes when the PS3 ended up being used by the US military to build a supercomputer...
I just finished playing MGS3 again on my 3DS. I forgot about that trick with The End and saved during our boss fight. Then I got Smash Bros... When I came back and rolled over his rotting corpse, I felt like such a fucking failure. It was supposed to be the last and greatest battle of his life. I let him down.
I spent so much time playing Gran Turismo 3 as a child, trying to do all of the 24hour endurance races, that the soundtrack playing in the background of this video has literally sent me into a state of PTSD induced terror and stress.
My PS2 fat got the disk read error and ate my GTA Vice City disk with it only 13 months after I got it. Called up Sony, they refused to fix it unless I paid an arm and a leg and refused to pay for my game. This was 2004 and I have never purchased a Sony product since and never will again. Amazing how MS fixed my RRoD 360 for free and had it back to me in 10 days yet Sony refused to do anything for me.
***** Well, it's not a playstation, but I have seen the world's only fully functional red-ringed Xbox 360, it's kept in the Enforcer offices here in Redmond :p
I am a bit confused with the last comment (by Jolly) but it might be my own fault. I would not knowingly tarnish the PS2's name by any means as it is my personal favorite console. I am taking the previous comment as one defending the PS2 as if I taunted it. I take this to perhaps mean that I mistook "gcn" to mean Game Cube something something when perhaps it means something else?
Just wondering: Does anyone know that a Crash Bandicoot game named "Crash of the Titans" exists? It's for PS2, and it's actually REALLY good! No one seems to know it exists though, which is sad...
"Strength" is just a gimmick used by console makers to outsell their competitors. It has been used in one way or another since the first console wars. It doesn't mean a damn thing.
billy yory I'm just saying, if the PS2 has weaker specifications than the ccompetition why would Iraq make a supercomputer out of it, instead of using actual computer parts?
The PS2 Intro sound.... so much nostalgia. Interesting video, i remember hearing similar stories about the PS3's CPU being used in missiles by terrorists. Its just fear mongering.

same
Forreal yo, I heard that ps2 startup sound n got chills man.
I was young when I used the system menu and I always had nightmares later.
yeah me too. the startup sound always scared the shit out of me when i was a kid, hahah
+Cameron Johnson I would always run out of the room when it started up when I was like 3.
I miss the ps2 era because back then it didnt matter how good the online play was and when you bought the game you bought the FULL game, no need to worry about add on bullshit. You usually got extras as you played through the games too. Making of videos, concept art etc. That was back when the customer was right. Now the customer is an asshole because companies rarely do business face to face anymore so it's all dehumanised and cold.
Exactly why im getting a ps2 and going back to the good old days
You’re dead wrong, PS2 games sure as hell had DLC, updates, and internet multiplayer.
The PS2 was THE gaming console. I've had one since I was a child and it still works to this day. I dare say there will never be as good a console as the PS2 was in it's day.
I would say N64s, SNES's and Xbox 360's had a better run
***** Well the SNES and NES still get new games, granted they're are home brewed copies.
Patrick imnottellingyou Well then you would be wrong since they showed in the video that the Ps2 has had the best run in all regions xD and sold almost twice as many as the xbox 360.
The PS2 probably had the biggest game library as well. It's probably favourite coz of the tons of jrpg's that were released on it
***** Wii is 5th best platform and 3rd best console

I still play on my PS2, no fucks given
Me too, I also still play my Gameboy Advance and N64

+Charles Rod I still play on my brick slab.
Same. Still ordering games for it on amazon
There's an unsettling look received when others know you play on a PS1 or PS2...they must've forgotten we here greatness came from and still resides.
Do you guys remember the feeling every time we insert a disc and hope for the Playstation logo to pop up?, HAHA! good times
IKR
good old times
Yup
Sucks that my mom sold the darn thing
+Teddy Riggs I remember having to turn the console upside down too :) Wow I just made myself feel old lol xD
the ps2 startup sound still gives me nostalgic memories!
Fedekerker ... "Still"...?
You expect nostalgia to decrease over time...?
me too takes me back to the good ol days before people were stuck in their phones
Z Z 👍
0:05 The Ps2 start up sound is seriously one of the most relaxing sounding "tune" I have ever heard. Hearing this again.. wow...
hole. lee. shit. that ps2 startup sound gave me chills. like good feeling chills. good feeling like warmth. warmth chills. it gave me warmth chills.
And then you had all the error tones, which scared the living shit out of everyone.
Gave me bad nostalgia
The PS one startup sound is scary AF.
WackyIdeas I use to hate that shit, when ever my little sister was in the room she use to cry because it was that scary...ahh i miss those scary sounds.....

Leeroy Jenkins The Gamecube was still one hell of a system
Sort of. Exclusives are probably the only thing that kept the gamecube profitable. Also the only reason Xbox sold. Halo was almost 1 to 1.

Purely subjective, the best era for gaming over all was 1985-1989
@@dubsy1026 "PS4/Xbone brought us '£400 CONSOLE KILLER PC MUST WATCH PLZ'"
so i guess the PS3 brought us ´$599 CONSOLE KILLER PC MUST WATCH PLZ´ right
PS2 was probably one of the best console systems I've ever owned. Even though I don't buy consoles anymore because I play on PC now. I spent 100+ hours on Kingdom Hearts 2 when that came out.
I recently played KH2 but only got like 6 hours in because of the terrible loading times.
Nick879 idk what you're talking about. On the PS2, Kingdom Hearts 2 had great load times.
cavemancolton
PS2 Kingdom Hearts, PS Spyro, and PS Crash Bandicoot games all have amazing loading times.
cavemancolton For me every time it loads it takes like 30 seconds. That isn't very great.
Nick879 That's because your PS2 is old.
An older console will take longer to load.
The dream cast was way ahead of its time.
HappyZavulon Doubt it, Nintendo would've still been in business even if the Dreamcast was successful.
HappyZavulon
And that would have been horrible.
Sega defeated the Dreamcast, not Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft.
God, gran turismo 3 looks good even today. No wonder I was amazed by it back in the day.
Best console ever, the ps2 years were the best years in gaming period
Indeed. 3-D gaming was perfected then.
***** And back then the games just worked...We didn't have to deal with patches and system updates or anything like that, no overpriced subscription services for multiplayer but just friends on a couch...
Piegamer710
No season passes and DLC. Devs had to give there all in one go.
***** No stupid arguments about resolution and framerates.
Piegamer710
No focus on games trying to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible.
I remember those days. I miss them a lot.
+civilwarfare101 You want that now? Buy a Wii U.
Accj21
Bayonetta 2 looks fun, but I don't think I'll bust out the cash for it. I think I'll just get a high end PC and use PCSX2 and Dolphin.
Netflix released this CD in Brazil because to this day the console is very popular here, as well as the Master System and the Mega Drive that eventually gain official re-releases
That sound at the beginning is like a nostalgia kick to the nuts.
Ikr
PS2 is still the bet console ever. Just put the game disc in and play, pure gaming , no fuss.
Ps2 is not the only console to do this.
Nicholas Cuevas Still you can't deny it has a ludicrously expansive library of games to choose from.
Erm, cartridges were even better in that respect. No load screens while data was being read etc.
and i still recall there being some time in between putting the game in and actually playing the game
PS2 is definitely my favorite console
Metal_Lion1 ps4 is mine
Playstation 2: the man, the myth, the legend
Xbox: ok, not bad, cheap, it's slowing killing itself
I fucking love the ps2 and gamecube. Those 2 consoles were my only consoles when i was a kid. Brings back great memories of me and my brothers messing around.
Okay your opinion
Yeah man, ps2 and gamecube were my first and best consoles
The openings are so nostalgic for me especially making the squeaky noise on the gamecube
The single greatest thing about the PS2 is that it is also a PS1. End of story.
True. Same goes for Wii, that also could play GameCube games.
Definetley not.
+XenuLies Said no one ever except you, moron.
Knowing a Linux installation of Linux for ps2 was released just blew my mind.
That's the true power of a portable OS.
Btw, i kind of remember the background music, i think it's from Gran turismo A-spec, which makes it more awesome!
Tirsod2000 yea Gran turismo 3
I noticed that pretty much every guest commentator for these videos advertises themselves like:
"And if you wanna see some horrendous abomimations with my stupid face in them, check out my shitty ass channel."
I love the exaggerated modesty lol
God forbid they advertise their own channel due to them being the commentator. Every single video has this, why are you complaining now?
cosmo6871 he's not complaining that their advertising. he's talking about how they all put down their own videos in an attempt of reverse psychology.
cosmo6871 Oh gosh, I didn't mean that in the way you may think. I meant that they all advertise their channels as being terrible. I have no problem with them advertising their channel at all.
Unless it's MatPat. He's always like "To hear more about my amazing and flawless theories you should come to my channel. Oh, yeah, and DYKG is good too, I guess."
Christian Schulz After reading your comment a second time, I realize my mistake. I apologize.
That PS2 start up music and opening brings back so many memories
Playstation 2: the greatest DVD and music player of all time.
***** yes, unfortunately due to the lack of memory if forgot about it the next day.
***** He tried, but it said no
greatest music player - Maybe
greatest dvd player - no.
Did you know?
about 99% of every ps2 bought was used as a fucking DVD player.
I used to do that, the naked bullet was the first movie I watched on the ps2
Same with 100% of the Xbox One were used for a cable box.
Well, yeah, that was one of the reasons why PS2 was so popular.
Just like PS3 and BluRay.
I did that. When I wasn't using it as a gaming system. Because they can do both.
PlayStation 2 was the golden era of video gaming. Many great games, especially RPGs, were made during this time. No season passes, no DLCs, no BS. Just full complete game experiences. Kids these days will never understand how great the PS2 was.
im a modern day kid and i understand how great the ps2 is
Ah, 2007, Christmas Day. I woke up with my brother and sisters and saw a big box by the tree. We opened it up and were psyched to find a PS2, my very first console. Good times.
My first game that I ever owned was ATV Offroad Fury 4. Do you guys remember it?
aYYEE I got my ps2 the same year! I remember Avatar the Airbender Video game being my first game, but my most beloved game was KH.
Sofiroro I currently have KH. But I can't get past Wonderland. I suck. :(
Gumiworm the Gumiworm ye man it's a great game, look up a walkthrough, that one is confusing.
Yeah. I will blow up the US with my Ps2. Seems legit.
funniest part was that the ps2 was really not that powerful
Howtostudies "not that powerful" is relative to the times
BullShitThat Not really. Even for the time the PS2 wasn't that powerful. The GameCube and Xbox were far more powerful. Even the Dreamcast was more powerful than the PS2.
AliAliDillyDally Assuming what you said is actually true, even still, the GC and Xbox came out after the PS2 (so that shouldn't be a surprise), and the Dreamcast crashed and burned before it even took off. So really the PS2 had no real competition during its debut.
AliAliDillyDally Funny enough the lifespan of PS2 was longer then gamecube R.I.P Gamecube 2003-2006 and Ps2 1997-Present day
The music in background is Gran Turismo 3 A-SPEC
Lmao. Hello, my name is Playstation 2, whats your name? xD
Nintendo 3DS
GAME BOY ADVANCE IS MY NAME :3
Snes
Yo mama! ( . . . So I guess the PS1?)
Nintendo 64
I loved the PS2, easily one of my favorite consoles
"Which was filed in December 1999, 6 months before the PS2 was launched on March 4, 2000."
Did anyone else notice this?
grand turismo 3 nostalgia in the beginning!!!!
+Damien Leal *Gran
Ahh the feels of the soundtrack... ;-;
Yup, the GT3 version was Slipstream, the GT4 one was on Machine Test and is Arcade Mode on GT6...
What was that song that started during dat GT3 showing?
No, the music from the start
Oh god, I have so many memories of sitting on my couch in my pjs and play GT3 and kingdom hearts
06:01
What a legend.
Hah, good point.
Eh it was the early 2000's. We didn't know better back in the day
So if he can change his name to "Playstation 2", can I change my name to "Super Smash Bros"?
"Anything is possible in a world so Seriously Strange..."
- Rob Dyke
If you change your and your bro's surname to Super Smash, that would be possible.
AG4 _MrPhila understood that reference
Andres Tovar me too!
I still have my ps2 from 2001, it still works perfect, and I do use it now and again. Antithesis of my 360 or 360s...
20 years from now we'll get "did you know gaming PS4"
Check now.
or you know, today...
Looks like those 20 years flew right by.
Andrew Hooven That makes no sense.
Andrew Hooven The PS2 is not even 20 years old...
I got a PS2 in 2004 and never had any problem with it even though my grandpa accidentally threw it to the ground several times...
Got a Wii and before a year passed it couldnt read disks.
How did he throw the play station to the ground repeatedly by accident?
By tripping over the controller's cable
(hope i said that right, english is not my native language)
it was kinda annoying but surprisingly it never affected the PS2 :D
wow.. I accidentally dropped or knocked my wii to the ground, still works fine..
wow I'm the opposite of you with experience
mine was a slim.. i guess lower weight, lower damage
That wonderful startup sound. So many memories. And that Gran Turismo music Damn the feels! Sweet childhood!
Ye, excuse me, I'm smuggling a PS2 onto a plane here, just gonna... Blow up Europe...
Just... Don't mind me...
PS2 is still the king of all consoles, Why? EXCLUSIVES :)
exact same reason why PS4 is the king of this generation, EPIC EXCLUSIVES :)
True all though the WIIU is also a great console.
mike younes
didn't help the fact that it's weakest and least sold console of this generation
like what?
ZEROx PLAYZ Dragon Quest, Persona, Shadow Of The Colossus, Kingdom Hearts, I could go on for a while.
The start up for the ps2 is my favorite of any system ever. It just makes me reminisce if my younger days when life was so much easier
Best ever console. Best gaming piece of machine ever. I miss these days.
+Are You Mad ? "Best gaming piece of machine ever." Lol.
+Are You Mad ? i'm sorry but i think you'll find that honor belongs to the board game mouse trap
I feel stupid for asking this, but what's the game shown at 2:00?
Chrono cross!
Which is a PS1 game... not PS2, so why it is in this video, who knows...
VIIIXIII I've actually never played Chrono Cross or Chrono Trigger...I am ashamed ;;
Chrono Cross was an amazing game. Chrono Trigger on the other hand... eh... not so much. Cross basically feels like a much more polished version of Trigger. You should try it out!
VIIIXIII I'll try to hunt it down, but it's probably expensive as hell by now so maybe I'll just get an emu. Either way, thanks!
0:05
I was just casually drinking soup, then you played this sound, and I had a massive nostalgia attack. Thanks DYKG
Ah the time when most good game available in one console
I say most not all,so please read carefully before commenting
you know that the gamecube had shittier racing games
no i don't like mario kart and it's one of the only mario spin off series that sucks
+Neat Carbon GASP
oh what madness is this somebody has an negative opinion on mario kart
1:55 Why is there footage of the FMV sequences of Chrono Cross here? That was a PlayStation 1 game - I know because I only ever had a PlayStation 1 and played the HELL out of Chrono Cross. (Yes, Chrono Cross is related to Chrono Trigger.)
Because DYKG has no quality control.
The Armored Core footage,Gran Turismo music and the PS2 startup sound was pretty much almost my childhood.
Sony completely nailed it with the PS2.
You forgot to mention that the startup sound of the PlayStation2 is the best sound in the universe.
+Razor Callahan Internet fight?
I have so many fond memories with the PS2.
Dat start up screen gives me the feels.
Think about it I was the first human generation to have a ps2
A man marrying a console? WoOOw. I know it was just a joke thought.
I've got fond memories of the PS2 for games like GTA and Guitar Hero, among other games, even though I still have never owned one. I do have a PSP though.
God damn, this thing was supported through three console generations. Hell, my wallmart still has some PS2 games on the video game isle.
Anybody remember Wars of Monsters? That game was so badass. Me and my cousin would always play that. Plus Sanic Mega Collection Plus
What the fuck is with your pic!
I like your profile pic ;]
MrChaosSeal I really like that you just noticed my profile picture and not my comment
ShadowBladeX care to explain?
Daniel Perez YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!
I love the ps2 that startup sound gives me goosebumps
Kids of today won't understand how to use a memory card......
ok boomer
@@eletgres519 He's not wrong. The more we age in tech, some of the stuff we use today will end up obsolete I'm the future.
I know How to use one And I never had a console with A memory card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@eletgres519 he's right, you imbecile
The days when you go to your friends house and bring your ps2 but forgot the memory card...
Good times
"The PS2 could be used as a powerful computer and a weapon for terrorist organizations."
Hate to see what they could do with Xbox and GC...
*PC
GOB Gaming
Oh shit yeah. But the Xbox was actually a very good PC at its release.
Well, considering gamecube's are nigh indestructible, could use them to just beat people with, then go back to playing twilight princess no problem
It's somewhat easier to modify an original Xbox as a weapon than a PS2 since the Xbox is a modified Pentium III PC running a modified version of Windows NT.
Of course, it'd be a better idea to use a PS4 or Xbox one instead since they use more modern PC hardware.
+BadAssBoss it's GameCube
I love my PS2 I'm glad I kept after all these years.
hey i remember that stupid ps2 terrorism thing, that was fucking hilarious
i bet fox news was all like "i bet these republican idiots will believe us Kappa"
Even hilarious when Apple's iTunes Agreements says that you won't use iTunes to create WMD's
Rio c
well to be fair have you ever seen how much havok a nicki minaj song can wreak?
PC gamers love the PS2 for some reason.
es verdad
because the PS2's reign was before the time when power was the only thing people took into account. also i've noticed that everybody loves the PS2. no matter if you are a super xbox or nintendo fan, the PS2 is an undeniably astounding console.
***** it just got everything right.
Deadpool Fsjal Like Gamecube better, personally.
Deadpool Fsjal Because they think it's a good console.
I can see that Brazilian Netflix disc being very expensive nowadays.
Netflix on the PS2, that's awesome.
It's funny that there was so much unfounded fear that the PS2 would become "weaponized" and be used for war-related purposes when the PS3 ended up being used by the US military to build a supercomputer...
I Would've Gotten a Lot of Nightmares if I Had Seen Those Commercials
Do a part 2!
PS3 is part 2
+Samuriwarrior3 savage
I just finished playing MGS3 again on my 3DS. I forgot about that trick with The End and saved during our boss fight. Then I got Smash Bros...
When I came back and rolled over his rotting corpse, I felt like such a fucking failure. It was supposed to be the last and greatest battle of his life. I let him down.
I spent so much time playing Gran Turismo 3 as a child, trying to do all of the 24hour endurance races, that the soundtrack playing in the background of this video has literally sent me into a state of PTSD induced terror and stress.
+Jack Whitehead You're not alone bro, I even use to think about that game while I was at work... lol
Mr. PlayStation went on to marry Mrs. Xbox, but they continuously fought until their break up. year later.
More better if Mr GameCube married Mrs Dreamcast
The GC? A beautiful angel from above. The Dreamcast? A clever guy, but hideous on all levels.
My PS2 fat got the disk read error and ate my GTA Vice City disk with it only 13 months after I got it. Called up Sony, they refused to fix it unless I paid an arm and a leg and refused to pay for my game. This was 2004 and I have never purchased a Sony product since and never will again. Amazing how MS fixed my RRoD 360 for free and had it back to me in 10 days yet Sony refused to do anything for me.
and here you are 10 years later still watching sony related stuff and commenting on them. It's called moving on.
I got two that both work gangbusters, you can have one XD
So, you hate Sony for something that happened 10 years ago. I guess I should hate MS for not fixing my faulty Xbox 360
***** Well, it's not a playstation, but I have seen the world's only fully functional red-ringed Xbox 360, it's kept in the Enforcer offices here in Redmond :p
*****
MS can't fix your RRoD if you don't call them up and put in an RMA request
When PlayStation 3 was released, 2 was just like, "Hey, get ready to be outsold."
I think MGS3 was THE best looking game on the PS2 ever released.
Character models aren't much different from PS3 games.
was the best game ever imo.
Sonic Boom is the 10th best looking game on the PS2 though...
@@Cokenutz The fuck are you talking about? No it's not.
Also, fun fact: the ps2 was weaker than the Xbox in terms of processing power, and yet the ps2 went on to be the "best console of all time" :)
fun fact gcn was the most powerful one
And that matters because . . .?
Billy yory it shows that all a games console needs to be good is to have a bunch of good games. The ps2 had thousands upon thousands.
Reinaldo Martinez
IF THE GAMECUBE IS THE MORE POWERFUL... WHERE ARE THE CD MUSIC PLAYER?, THE DVD MOVIE PLAYER?, AND THE ONLINE???
I am a bit confused with the last comment (by Jolly) but it might be my own fault. I would not knowingly tarnish the PS2's name by any means as it is my personal favorite console. I am taking the previous comment as one defending the PS2 as if I taunted it. I take this to perhaps mean that I mistook "gcn" to mean Game Cube something something when perhaps it means something else?
The console that handed out ass whips to any gaming hardware that stood in its way
Wait... They were still making PS2 games in 2013?!?
Dude, they're still making *atari* games. Crazy, huh?
Amelia Bee MIND OFFICIALLY BLOWN!!!
They stopped making games for PS2 a bit ago. That was a sad day.
Brennen Chappell I KNOW, RIGHT?? I've actually played the atari port of Halo, it was...interesting.
Amelia Bee OMG you weren't kidding, their actually is a Halo Atari port.

Just wondering: Does anyone know that a Crash Bandicoot game named "Crash of the Titans" exists? It's for PS2, and it's actually REALLY good! No one seems to know it exists though, which is sad...
Because it's shit. We don't want to talk about it.
i knew about it but after naughty dog sold off crash it kind of killed the series
All the Crash games for PS2 onward suck. Same with the Spyro ones.
crash of the titans was awful! twinsanity was the last passable crash game
Crash of the titans is an awesome game, everyone just hates it because of the new designs.
Best system , last the longest , the slim breaks , the phat one is the one to get
What the hell? The PS2 wasn't even the strongest console in its generation!
"Strength" is just a gimmick used by console makers to outsell their competitors. It has been used in one way or another since the first console wars. It doesn't mean a damn thing.
billy yory I'm just saying, if the PS2 has weaker specifications than the ccompetition why would Iraq make a supercomputer out of it, instead of using actual computer parts?
pikistikman Maybe that's why they didn't.
They wouldn't use ANY console to do anything a computer is traditionally used for. It was just another news story to make games look worse.
I just don't understand how people ever believed it. Do they think computers are illegal in Iraq?
