I give the man full credit & respect for Ep. IV but at the time he was a young new director. He had to impress & convince a lot of higher ups to get a greenlight for his idea, so he couldn't do as he pleased or have full creative control over it.

It was so frustrating when the ship started crashing to realize we were over Kamino. I mean, we spent all the first chapter there, then in another planet with beautiful esceneary to liberate our master, then to the rebel fleet, and then... we were in the final segment of the game.
I mean, what the fuck? Just when I was getting excited, and suddenly the game ends. I literally went through the game in one day, because of how much I had enjoyed the first one.
Corporate Greed, is why we can't have nice things. I thought a completely different team made the second one it was that bad.
That was my reaction, when I realised how short this game was. At least now I know why it was so short, Darth Lucas, strikes again. 1 year to make a sequel? I mean I would have given the team about 2-3 minimum, to ensure it was a quality product.

Wow, Lucus sounds like a really frustrating person to work with. Screwing with the Maul game, the Underworld game, and even Starkiller. I had no idea it was his fault the sequel was so... well, short. It was a nice conclusion to the story (sort of), but it was lacking in other areas. Now I know why. It's interesting that Lucus DID approve of Starkiller, though, and in such detail. IMO, this means Starkiller really was close to being "canon." It's an interesting point, because I had gotten into a few debates with people over whether he made sense in the overall universe (considering his power and whatnot).

Actually, a lot of the cool stuff came in from the sidelines. He wasn't in a place mentally where it made sense for him to turn down every outside suggestion yet when the first movies were made. Irv Kershner, Richard Marquand, Lawrence Kasdan, and Gary Kurtz all had actual influence in shaping the original three.
and he was still very open with his development team in the prequels dude, listen to the commentaries and the special effects guys even talk about their ideas that got in.

The only reason, THE ONLY REASON that Lucas managed to strike gold with star wars was because OTHER people told him what worked and what didn't.
Because of his success, people saw HIM as the visionary and took every word he said as gospel and didn't once criticize him.

Hearing what Battlefront III could have been is heartbreaking, instead we get an incomplete,overpriced multiplayer only game with half its content behind a 100 dollar paywall, thanks EA.

I know he created it but he has also sabotaged the series many times as well and nearly ruined it with the prequels. His vision for Star Wars is that it should be for little kids and he cares NOTHING for the adult fans. He even mentioned something of the sort when asked what he thought of the new movie, he literally said "I disagreed with disney on how they wanted to make a movie for the fans". PanicGiraffe, I remember hearing that the original star was films only worked because George didn't have full control. After he made a lot of money he was given free reign and no one could challenge him because he was the money man.
That Darth Maul game and Battlefront 3 are the two games I'm most disappointed got cancelled. Those two games look fucking amazing.

They were really behind schedule on SWTOR. They diverted a _lot_ of people to work on that project. I was playing the Beta and it really wasn't ready even when the release date came.

If there is any lessons to take away from this its:
1. George Lucas should have no say in Star Wars. People forget he is not the franchises' sole creator. When making the first movie he was still relatively unknown and it was an expensive film to make so a lot of people threw out suggestions like the actors, effect people and so on and Lucas listened.He didn't direct Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi and during Return of the Jedi he had a falling out with George Kurtz who helped on the films greatly over how the las movie would end. Kurtz wanted a bittersweet yet poignant ending where Han solo dies, the rebellion is in tatters with Princess Leia trying to rebuild, and Luke walks off into the sunset. Lucas wanted to sell toys and wanted an ending where the good guys win and Han Solo doesn't die because he sells toys. That kind of thinking is like the wagon pushing the horse. People forget when he directed the prequels, Lucas hadn't made a film in over 30 years. Darth Maul Game: Release it, have it be partly flashbacks to Maul's training under Sidius, partly a segment showing Darth Maul and his brother Savage Oppress during the Clone Wars. Darth Maul's fat is not fully shown in the Clone Wars show so there's room for him to have survived, imagine playing as Darth Maul with robot legs. Also Co op could be awesome with Maul and Oppress fighting at the same time. Create a Red/Black Twilek character to satisfy George Lucas if you must, you could make her Darth Maul's love interest or sister and in the flashbacks we can have a Co Op where the second player controls her instead of Oppress.
Force Unleashed 2: Should have given more time to it. change the game to focus on another character and keep Starkiller dead. Could even be set during the Original Trilogy or after it while Luke is building the Jedi order. Can you imagine a fight with an older stronger Luke.
1313: Seemed promising, doesn't really gel with Boba Fett's backstory though but maybe he could appear in the game and be playable at one point.

He came up with the stories for ALL the mainline star wars stories and just had other people write them out through dialogue and and beat by beat structure but he came up with ALL the stories. theDoctor The problems is that they are both just uninspired at the moment. I am not large on them because of numerous things. I can understand making the games simple enough for anyone to pick it up and play, that creates a large player base. However they both never really adapt. After you play one you have played them all at this point.

I swear George Lucas lost his god damn mind some time in the 90s. The prequels, canceled video games and him being an asshole to certain people who worked on the original trilogy, all lead me to believe that the late 90s/2000s Lucas is not the Lucas who worked on the original trilogy in the late 70s/80s.
I think all the hate given to the prequels just gave him far more of a "fuck it" attitude towards Star Wars in general

The movies have problems but are nowhere near as bad as you make it, except episode 8, Force Awakens is actually pretty enjoyable despite some negative aspects that was added to it.

Unleashed 1 was great, but the only way I'd play 2 again is if I'm getting paid six figures for it.

just keep in mind that every company creating things has a lot of projects scrapped before anybody hears of them outside the company, sometimes they get made down the line(think of the features nintendo experimented with, or Miis that were the end result of a 20 year development ranging across many consoles), but that's just a natural part of creative industries; simply not everything can be made with the resources available UNLESS the quality of every game is sacrificed and if a company only releases mediocre-crap games then none of them would have been worth the development
especially a relatively small studio like Lucasarts, keep in mind that Star Wars was financed independently from episode 5-Disney buyout
