This is the best breakdown of behavioral questions that I've seen thus far. Thank you so much for your help, I already feel so much more confident going into my interviews this week.
I got 5 bucks cash money says 95 percent of folks who clicked on this vid are introverts -- extroverts already nailed the interview thanks to their damn natural bubbly confidence . Come on, who's feeling lucky:? Anybody? Anybody?
Wow, thank you for framing behavioral interview questions this way! I’ve been frustrated with coming up with scenarios and tying it in with what is valuable in the role. I absolutely adore you for helping me see behavioral interviews as story telling, and not just stupid canned questions!!!
Oh wow I'm sorry my friendsi just waswriting in telling how I felt which was but I lost it and I'm falling asleep I'm new at this but I'm just honest straightforwardhonesty and telling the truth you have to be careful cuz you can't hurt someone with the truth sometimes they need the truth whether it hurts or notyou get used to knowing what hurts and what doesn't but stick was telling the truth and you will always come out a winner in the end because it always means have discernment the taskthink about it don't just say something real about it read study a littleif you understand it you will be able to write something abouthave passion for everyone everything you do with all your heart all your soul if you make a mistake it's a mistake if you always are apologeticand people love it you don't want to hurt someone's feelings sometimes they want to hear it love everyone you don't have to like everyone these are the things I sing better than me the most important teaching instructions in the world the Bible this is who I am thank you I love all y'all I'm sure they'll be something that I don't likebut you won't know it because I would try to keep my mouth shut because why I had the right to remain silent anything I say can and will be held against me laughing out loud
Well I think everyone who is watching me I used to be really shy when I was younger I talked a little bit more nowback in that day when I was younger I would make up stories I would tell little old fish lies I will call it doesn't matter if you stretch the story just a little tiny bit you're hurting yourself and everyone else it's a form of lyingnow if you're chilling with someone it's differentbut you make sure when you're done talkin you just tell them I was just kidding just joking anyway I love you goodnight laughing out loud sweet dreams
although I've just demonstrated this exact theory 3days ago to a potential employer subconsciously I didn't think of the STAR approach, this makes it re-assuring that i answered the question exactly as you explained it. PROBLEM>TASK>SOLUTION. very valuable thanks!!
This interview goes against everything I am, I'm naturally introverted and objective, I'm not one for stories at all, I state the facts because I hate small talk. I feel this type of interview only benefits people who talk a lot or are extroverted.
Not at all. I'm introverted myself and this is far from small talk. This is just to cover what you did and how. There is no need to embellish and drag it on. Be clear, concise, and be done. Again, there is no need to drag it out and a story is actually a terrible thing to call it. If someone tells me a long, drawn out story for every question, I'm probably not going to hire them.
i don't think you watched the video very carefully? you are supposed to state facts but in a way that makes you look good. in general, all job interviews will require you to talk to some extent so if you have real big issues with talking/speaking you might need some other type of training
I'm an ambivert leaning more towards introversion but I enjoy telling stories to people who are interested and only if they're good listeners. However, I loathe this style of interviewing. I have a technical interview coming up and the first hour is this STAR method. I'm stressed out already!
Trust me, its way worse if you get and introverted interviewer, you answer a question and they just stare at you, no verbal or body-feedback from their side(like nodding), so you don't know if they are satisfied or not, if you should go into more detail or not, it throws you off
Use CAR - Context, Action & Result. It is more concise & effective. STAR felt more verbose, and S&T sometimes sounded the same. CAR on the other hand leads to targeted discussion.
"Especially someone who is more humble by nature" why is she calling me out 😂 thank you so much loving this presenter! She's so good. Have an interview tomorrow and even though just for a temp job always nervous before interview
Thank you for the extremely helpful guide. I have implemented your video link in preparing my candidates for the interview process. It is very informative yet easy to understand. Thanks again!
Hi! 1- Please I have one question if they ask you: During when you work in office, you see your friend there what you're gonna do : greet him and finish your work ? Or ignore him like he is not there and finish your work? Or greet him and tell him he is not allowed to be there during work and he needs to be outside waiting for you outside ???Thank you. 2- Please, I have one more question : If you are busy in your work and you did not finish yet your tasks during your shift work , what to do in this situation ? Is do it faster even it will be a mess and many mistakes in your job ?? Or finish your job even it will be overtime than your schedule ?? Thank you for your time.
Krow From The Krow's Nest then you say apologies I've not really been in this situation but this is what i would have done in this situation. They won't mind if you assume and answer.
ALWAYS have an answer. Use every opportunity to showcase your best skills. Take a situation that is similar, even if it's a stretch, and apply the skills you know they are fishing for. Be creative if necessary, but make sure it truly showcases your REAL problem solving skills.
@Sue Santin ALWAYS having an answer just isn't ALWAYS realistically possible. It's impossible to prep for every question that could be asked. If you're there for 10+ seconds trying to think of or even make up a story, then it just isn't going to happen. You could ask to return to the question, but you'll probably not think of something in between struggling with other questions..
Thanks for your useful and well prepared video that gives us many ideas to be prepared well for the interview, it would be most useful if you speak a little slower!
then we need something to identify our great accomplishments, because for those of us who didn't do great things, it's not easy to come up with something...
Now that my careers over, I'm glad you made this video. I finally get what the HR women were getting at 25 years ago. Now I'll lean over to kiss the wife I never had, and hug the imaginary kids she hadnt borne. Thanks!

Thank you, this was more helpful than the 10+ articles that I read while researching the topic.

CARL - add a Learning or Lesson at the end?
@@rocking1313 yes, much better:)
I really like your approach of treating answers to behavioral interview questions like a story. Great way to engage the interviewer!
I really like this speaker, she never uses umm...which irritates me when people do it and i try my best not to
These videos have been great! thank you very much! The Big Interview has been massively helpful for me! Thank you! :) ☘️
Thanks you! This video gave a lot of helpful tips to help me prepare for my upcoming interview, I'll have to watch it again.
This is great advice as most companies focus on behavior type interviews for senior level positions.
I really like how you explain interview videos. I wish you had your own channel
"Especially someone who is more humble by nature" why is she calling me out 😂 thank you so much loving this presenter! She's so good. Have an interview tomorrow and even though just for a temp job always nervous before interview
This is great, but any story is easy when you have a "nearly saved the entire company" type of story to build off of....
Thank you for the extremely helpful guide. I have implemented your video link in preparing my candidates for the interview process. It is very informative yet easy to understand. Thanks again!
Excellent ... You deserve 20 out of 10

Ok but here's a toughie: What if they ask for a scenario... that you've never been in?

I personally think that the best stories do not have happy endings.
This was extremely helpful!! Thank you!!!
Your videos are awesome!
Great video, the content and the presentation are very clear. The only BUT is that the explanation goes too fast. A little slower would be better.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAM (writing this on 6/12/2020).
Thank you, big help!!
Good job. Thanks a lot.
What happens if you can't remember the details of the story?
Awesome!
SO HELPFUL XX
then we need something to identify our great accomplishments, because for those of us who didn't do great things, it's not easy to come up with something...
There are always great stories to be told, dont think like that!

This has really focused me
Is that Jesse's mom?
