- While most fans today know of Kevin Harvick as one of the Cup Series’ most dominant drivers there was a time when he played second fiddle to NASCAR’s best. 2010 was, for many, the year that Harvick truly broke through from this mold. For the first time since Dale Earnhardt was racing RCR had a driver that was a contender for every race of the year. This is the story of Kevin Harvick’s 2010 season.

I've been an Earnhardt fan since I was 18 in 1998 but I think Sterling Marlin in 2002 he had the points lead for 24 weeks till an injury took him out of the 40 coors light dodge in September Jamie McMurry won his first race in that car in his second start filing in for Sterling but that was supposed to be his year including the Daytona 500 that year till he got out and pulled a fender off his own car leading under the red flag with a few laps too go I remember thinking dude what the hell you doing lol? His quote ell I seen Earnhardt do that one time. @The Iceberg

As a hardcore Kevin Harvick fan, 2010 was pretty painful. But still not as painful as 2018 😢.

That would have been terrible for Nascar. That guy sucks all the credibility out the room. 2015 Talladega was just shameful. I lost all respect for him after that.

Thank you for this video. This was without doubt a tough year as a Harvick fan to not have him win when he was overall the most consistent all year. I believe part of the chassis broke during the last run at Dover which moved him from running 6th to 7th all day to 15th. Erase that and what would have been.

If Harvick could have gotten together with a SHR caliber of team early on, he would have 75+ wins and 4 championships.
At the very least i say 60. But 75? Wow. Idk about that. Its interesting tho because ive thought the same thing. For the first 13 seasons i always wondered if Kevin just didnt have the skill. But clearly it was majority in large the equipment. Just look at his stats in the 29 car vs 4 car. Almost 2 completely different drivers. So maybe you are right....
Your Cognitive Dissonance Binds You The only reason I say 75 is because of laps led. I think he led more laps in his first 2.5 seasons with SHR than he did in 13 years with RCR. RCR had no speed, even Bowyer and Burton didn't lead many laps in the team's better years, 2006-2008. They usually just barely won a race or two.

I always think about about every year who would win if they still had the old points system in place. It mattered to me so much more then. I think Harvick would've had 3 by now.

2010 Daytona 500 still bugs me to this day, despite all of the success Harvick has had since.. Hell the start of 2010 irks me, a couple of wins that got away and 20-30 points he didn’t get for the chase.. Not to forget the fall Talladega race

Harvick only had 3 wins that year but had 16 top 5s, 26 top 10s and a 8.7 average finish

You should do a 2003 What if for Ryan Newman. A what if for Sterling Marlin in 2002 if he didnt break his neck at Kansas. And a what if Jeff Gordon didnt finished 40th or worse in the first 2 races of 96. Then we'd be talking about Jeff Gordon winning 4 titles in a row which would have far been credited as a more accomplished feat than Jimmie Johnson's 5 in a row. I respect his 5 in a row and all 7 of his titles. But damn can you imagine if they hadn't had those issues to start the 96 season? I think he wins 13 that year as well.
