    Not keeping Kurt Busch in the 41 car was a terrible idea. He was a threat for the championship (was eliminated from the final 4 at Phoenix when Hamlin took him out in his last race in the car). He made the playoffs all 5 years in the car, won 6 races including the Daytona 500, 37 Top 5's, 90 Top 10's. In the 6 years since Kurt left, that 41 car has 23 top 10's and has made the playoffs once (Custer won the '20 Kentucky race). Tony didn't want him the car to begin with (it was Gene's call) and he and Harvick have never got along going back to the early 2000's. So they put Suarez, then Custer, then Preece in the car to run around near the back for 6 years.

If you ever watched Tony Stewart interviews with Kyle Petty, Kenny Wallace or a couple others, he was pretty unhappy with the direction NASCAR was going. NASCAR has become garbage to watch. Well, Tony made it very clear he was not happy with Ford or NASCAR for awhile now. Ford wouldn't field a car for Kyle Larson, and NASCAR was penalizing the team for issues with getting enough parts to race with all the one vendor parts supply problems. And, Tony wasn't happy with the product of NASCAR anymore. I mean, NASCAR makes winning the only thing that matters now, but Kevin won 9 races one year (like 4 more than any other driver that year), and didn't win the championship. I enjoy watching a race, but the point system sucks and it's that is too much "This is an event now, not a race." going on now. I only came back to NASCAR after 15 years, so I could watch Kevin's last season.

    • @buttslappingpirate
      @buttslappingpirate 24 дня назад

      To be entirely honest with you, Larson isn't as good as everyone thinks he is. He still makes a lot of mistakes, his gimmick for his entire time with Ganassi was riding the outside lane for almost the entire race (until it inevitably bit him every time he tried it), and in 2021, he was almost literally waved to the front of the field by practically every team that didn't have the name "Hendrick" on the fender as HMS didn't have a parts freeze, while everyone else did.
      NASCAR worked up a Larson "redemption" story arc to demonstrate that he was only capable of becoming a champion after going through NASCAR reeducation camp. And to be honest with you, the trouble that got Larson fired to begin with wasn't something that an intelligent driver...or anyone else for that matter...says while performing live, so we're supposed to assume that he's smart enough to be the best driver out there?
      Larson is indeed awesome in a dirt car, however, and I think he gave up a brilliant career as a World of Outlaws driver.

      He said was pretty much pointing the environment at HMS , and how far different it is than from SHR , and how basically Rick Hendrick , Jeff Gordon , Chad Knaus are very direct within all their organization ( as owners of their team they should ) , where as in SHR that support wasn’t there from Gene or Tony
      But HMS has always had interest in Kevin Harvick anyways , had it been for Kasey kahne leaving out nascar in 2017 ( year when SHR switched to ford ) Kevin for sure would’ve been in the #5 in HMS that season and perhaps possibly retiring with them
      Also he did race for JR Motorsports in xfinity which
      is under the umbrella of HMS , With Dale Jr owning the team and Rick Hendrick owning partial stake of the team

      Tony has some responsibility to bare for , on neglecting his team anything past 2021 ( which is when he started investing in nhra 2022 - to present now ) , but as far on the politics of nascar and especially last season SHR got a lot of penalties, I don’t blame and agree with him on that regard and aspect on the politics on how he feels as an team owner towards nascar
      So it’s an half and half on Tony’s end

There is great consensus on the aforementioned

      @user-jf4nj3ez2k 28 дней назад

      Well what happened in Indy Car was a lot different.
      The breakaway was actually from USAC in 1979.
      Only reason it didn't work out in the end because they didn't own the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
      So in 1996 Tony George started the IRL(Indy Racing League).
      And the speedway took back control of the cars and rules of the cars racing in the Indianapolis 500.
      The problem would be that NASCAR owns a bunch of the tracks they race at and owns Daytona International Speedway where the Daytona 500 is at

    you can't dismiss tony's disillusion with the sanctioning body. We just heard from Jeff Gordon that no one is even turning a profit. F1 is now massively profitable, so you can't really blame him for favoring that. The way the charter negotiations seem to be going for the teams, it all makes a ton of sense to me, they didn't see a light at the end of the tunnel with this thing, its not just about their team's performance. Yes they were also in a strained relationship with Ford and that didn't help, but this is bigger than that.

K.H. was a key piece to the winning side after T. S. but it wasn't winning like it was. The F1 side is a total disaster and the switch to Ford on the NASCAR side wasn't brilliant. MHO.

I hardly watch it at all anymore, and don’t really care at all. The fans have been telling nascar what we don’t like for years. The stages, the “playoffs”, the spec cars (not “stock” cars) etc, and nascar has consistently told us that we are wrong. I don’t blame Tony one bit. The NHRA is a much, much better product. Always has been, always will be.

    It saddens me to watch what was a strong growing team slowly fall apart for the variety of reasons that has plagued it for a few years.
    This hasn't been a single year happening, not even a two year occurrence.
    I still have the point of view that NASCAR didn’t want SHR to succeed and they gnawed away at SHR in lots of ways, discouragement being a quiet cancer that it kept working.
    I will say it when others won't. I just watch the circus, I don’t live or work in it.
