I’m with you homie I’m 31 now… I played this when I was still in elementary. Forever and always be my fave game and of the FF series.. still have my original copy.. displayed on my shelf. Sadly the last disc doesn’t work half way through 😢
It's more than 20 years that I have played this game as a kid. No idea what this game was about and never heard of the Final Fantasy series before. The story, characters and soundtrack will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for letting me go back in time and experience some emotions I had as a kid. What a great video!
I actually played this game as a kid, and back then I didn't really speak that much English, so I didn't understand anything that was happening. Lol, this video kind of provides closure for me on what happened in this game, that I have played for so many hours as a kid...
Still play 7 8 and 9 to this day. While 8 was my first and favourite of the series, 9 will always hold a special place in me. The soundtrack, the story, the combat and the art style is just a masterclass in game design.

This game feels so underrated at times. It's my favorite Final Fantasy game. The emphasis on finding the place where you belong really speaks to me, and the scene on Terra where Zidane has forgotten who he is and his friends tell him, one by one, what he means to them makes me tear up even now, just thinking about it. You have the best story voice ever!!!!
I played this in 2001 and I remember the memory card corrupted JUST BEFORE the final area. While I did read summaries and watch the end cutscenes, I never did a whole summary from start to finish until now! But with FF14's expansion that just came out, I've been inspired to remember it all again. Thank you for this!
Amazing stuff Birds of Play! Love the animations at the start. Did you do those?
We did! Glad you like them!
Thank you for that video. I played this game when I was a kid and game was not translated to my language yet (now it is :) ) so I wasn't aware how great this story is. Thank you for all videos of PSX FF games. Still need to hear story of FF6, 10 and 12.
ff9 is a true masterpiece
It truly is!
Liked and subbed! FFIX is my favorite. The characters, the ENDING- WOW! Great video, and here's to a proper FFIX remaster!
Thanks for watching, subbing and leaving such a feel-good comment! A proper FFIX remaster would be amazing. - Nökkvi
RPG's in a nutshell:
Beginning: "We need to kidnap the princess!"
End: "We need to kill the very personification of death and hopeless, itself!"
Just wanted to let you know I love the content. I saw you on reddit and thought I'd look. You have a new subscriber.
Thanks so much for the support! Glad you like the content and thanks for leaving such a nice comment! Warm feelings. - Nökkvi
Que trabalho lindo e bem feito, sou do Brasil, e esse é o vídeo mais completo e bem explicado da obra. Parabéns
Good hard work and effort were put into this. Cheers mate. 🍺
Cheers! 🍻
Thanks for this. I had so much fun play this game over the years
Such an awesome piece of work this video! Congratulations!
Thanks so much. Glad you appreciate our work! More work incoming! - Nökkvi
This is really cool!
And so well made. Thank you
Glad you think so! Thanks so much for watching and letting us know what you think!
My first Final Fantasy game. I feel lucky to have had this as my first experience into the series and by far my favorite game of all time. 🥰
And your name is Vivi, making it even more special!
@@BirdsOfPlay gone by vivi (vivicon on my second play through) for nearly 20 years. More natural then my actual name. Truely a lovely game 😊
It truly is!
I feel so sorry for you...
Thank you so so much!
Glad you like it! We did our best to do it justice! - Nökkvi
Meguro mod melts off my screen it's absolutely marvelous to marvel at.
The absolute goat of the series. No other entry comes close.
How did you get those intro shots? Those look great, would love to see a remake in at least that quality
Thanks so much for such a wonderful , top notch video 🙏👍🥰
I loved it !!!
I'm glad you used the Moguri Mod to show the game. It really is the definitive way to play FF9!
Looks so good, makes a grown man cry.
I don't think I had ever cried tears of joy from a game until the ending of this masterpiece.
same. i was either 7 or 8 years old, laying on my grandparents living room floor with a ~12" tv while i was visiting them for the summer. i VIVIdly remember hiding my crying face at "bring my beloved dagger to me!". forever the greatest game of all time.
It is long since i played FFIX, but I remember that this game was the only FF game that I played that felt like having more than one main character, the player controls more than just Zidane through the game and the story of Garnet and Vivi are also important as they are part of the main story.
Quina was my favourite character tho:
"Life is precious. We do not waste anything. We eat everything"
Your voice gave the game a real "Wes Anderson" vibe, which I think fit the lighter tone of the game really well. I also now want a Wes Anderson directed Final Fantasy 7.
That game is perfect. You laugh. You cry. It's heartbreaking. But happy! My favorite game ever.
How the hell did you get that photo mode intro?! So sick
We made it! Glad you like it!
This was the first Final fantasy game I played on ps1. I remember taking it home opening it up and seeing all the dis. I didn't have a MC and sadly dis 4 didn't work .
Those were the days!
I would suggesst you lower the volume of the music. It is very difficult to hear you in certain parts. Think about a documentary and how they lower the music during narration! Great video!!!!
That was funny. When you mention "Baku arrives and ruins the moment with a loud sneeze". I too ended up sneezing at the same time loudly.
I'm enjoying listening to the story, it's like listening to grandparents telling kids stories before go to sleep.
This Game resonates with me so much… It’s OUR past lives that we LOST in Memorium
I've played FFIX more times then I can count and 99% it multiple times. I was never able to complete the jump rope competition but did absolutely everything else
Jump rope is crazy... CRAZY!
This is a great video. I love this kind of monolog story' telling. I hope you get much more viewer. And don't stop in FF franchise there is a lot video game that have great story'.
I remember the first time I heard Sword of Doubt in Burmacia ... sent chills down my spine. The first few notes tell you you sank into the shitmire deeply. ^^
Amazing narration! You did a great job.
I'll be honest I slept on this game because I didn't vibe with cuteness of it all. 23 years later I played it and omg its one of my favorites.
Absolute quality narration.
Great job on this
