- Welcome to the Complete Story of Final Fantasy X, one of the most beloved entries in the Final Fantasy series. Back in 2001, Final Fantasy X was the first Final Fantasy game to feature fully voiced dialogue and a fully 3D world, showcasing the capabilities of the new PlayStation 2 hardware. However, just as the game was celebrated for being a technological milestone, both in terms of its in-game graphics and the quality of its pre-rendered cinematics, it is equally if not more memorable for its endearing cast of characters and fantastic story. This game makes me feel things I didn't even know I could still feel.
A lot of people replying over on other platforms have mentioned that this was the first game to make them cry. I don't remember but I might fit into that category. Regardless of which game made me shed tears first, however, this is a game that never fails to deliver an emotional experience for me.

Maybe with less magical spells and summons and no maesters or sphere grid, fiends or half the cool things of this game but something like that 😅 this game is a true diamond in the rough

It is so hard to believe I beat this for the first time almost 20 years ago. I'm still trying to emotionally recover from the first time I beat this game. I've beaten it three times now and better understanding the story did nothing to ease the sadness. Now my boyfriend is playing and I hope I can hold in the tears until the ending happens so I don't spoil it at all lol

So Yuna’s literal dream bf has a drunk friend that tries to convince him his dad is a whale. And Yuna wants to marry a zombie wizard president, who is inspired to also turn himself into a whale. And a beach volleyball player hates computers, which are bad for whales. 😂

On a long, boring ride back from Missouri, after listening to a two-hour podcast about Tom Bombadil, I decided it was my turn to share some lore of final fantasy games. In particular, I honed in on the similarities and differences of FF8 and FFX. Because imo FFX took the good parts of 8 and executed them better. The general point was, despite FF8 being about fighting sorceresses, one who wants to control all of time and space, FFX is about a boy made of ghost dreams fighting his dad, who is a flying whale yet... somehow is *much* more satisfactorily explained on the worldbuilding. Like yeah, you say it as a joke because, c'mon, flying dad Whale. But it sells it. It makes perfect sense in the world it lays out, and, by the end of both games, is the much more grounded, impactful story.

This was a great video. You did a great job of not just explaining the events of the game, but poetically telling the audience a story. FFX manages to hit these really melancholic moments throughout its story that I just haven’t seen other games top. I also think it ties themes of death and grief into its narrative really well. The romantic leads are close to my heart, so I can’t help but get emotional when seeing two characters who ultimately can’t be together by the end. This game makes me cry a lot.

My girlfriend and I started playing through for the first time almost two years ago, but life got busy and then the pandemic separated us and we couldn’t play, but we just moved in together and we want to get back into it and I was worried we wouldn’t remember the plot up to where we stopped, but this video is EXACTLY what we needed to refresh our memories!

FFX was the first final fantasy that i ever played and got me hooked. Ive played it multiple times and still love it.

I've given up on replaying the games so these videos are really the best; I love having a story recap without the entire behind-the-scenes or production history of the game. There's lots of channels that do that well, but I enjoy skipping straight to the story.

Glad you like it! We try to focus on the story of the game (as it is told in the game). Development history is of course interesting but its not inherently necessary to appreciate the story on its own.
I played this game so many times and even got everyone's best weapons. I freaking love this game.

1. Accurate narration and exceptional explanations.
2. Jecht is a much more of a dead beat dad than I originally thought. Everytime he transports his son he leaves him fave down and unconscious in a pool of water. Like bro, I know your are big bad Sin but damn....
Honestly man if you don’t already do voice over work you’re a perfect fit for it. I could listen to you do journalism/video game journalism, animated characters, like not kidding man you’ve got the voice I’d say the niche of final fantasy is sadly the only reason you haven’t risen to stardom :(

My favorite FF game next to VII, and have replayed it so much that I don't need a story video, but I'm loving your narration and voice that I had to listen to this one too!
I played Final Fantasy games growing up.
I played 7 at a time in my childhood where it blew me away, story wise.
When I played FFX at release, I just could not connect with any of the characters. Probably in no small part due to the english dub Tidus has.
Somewhere during the play through I put it down.
Now, years later I played it again, thinking perhaps me being a lot older might change my take on it.
Having finished the game now, I found myself still not connecting with nor caring about any of the characters. Which was a letdown, particularly since I've always heard such great things about it's story.
So here I am, hoping this video could perhaps help me find some angle to appreciate this game from.

Well, I learned that I hadn't missed anything story wise. I think that for me, FFX is a good story told poorly.
I'm happy it resonates with so many though, not everything can tick everyone's boxes so it would be insane for me to be mad that this particular game didn't strike me as it did many of you.
I feel exactly the same. To me, FFX is the most overrated game of the franchise, it wasn’t bad but it has nothing special. The story was ok but forgettable. I didn’t connect with the cast, Yuna was boring as hell. Tho, I liked the dungeon and the music was great.

Beautiful game. Probaly the most beautiful fantasy stroy I ever seen in games, it mesmerizes and enchants with every turn. Charecters are also peak, nothing to say.

Honestly I spend so much time grinding in between plot points in these games that I sometimes lose track, so these really help in terms of no gaps in story progression beginning to end
don't know if it's the nostalgia speaking but even with the bad graphics for today's standards the art in this game is beautiful, makes me wanna live there

God the music 😢 they were so good at building the world's back in the day... Nobuo umetsu. He made pretty much all the music from FF1-12. 678910 had some of the most iconic music 😭
I didn't get into ff until 15 came out. I just played through 10 for the first time this week. Despite being a heavy gamer for 20 years, Ive somehow missed all spoilers for this game. So I was beside myself at the ending. Yunie deserved better 😢
I don’t think I’ll like a game as much as ff10 ever. Elden Ring and Bloodborne come close, but the second I hear enter Zanarkand it’s over hahaha. A Final Fantasy 7 remake style game for ff10 is easily my dream game.

I love these videos but a critique I would give... Turn the music down a bit, there are times when it's hard to hear the words bc off the volume... This was especially noticable in the FF9 vid.

Literally the only FF game I ever finished... I remember being far more interested in the story than any other... Probably why I actually finished it.
I never realized how awkward it is that Wakka is a terrible blitzball player but he fights with a blitzball and has attack reels
Maybe the pilgrimage would have gone a lot more smoothly if Yuna had been guarded by the Luca Goers.

I loved X. I’ve probably played through it more times than any other title in the series. I still claim IX is my favorite, but X comes very close.

I didn't play this until 08 as I weren't into rpgs til then. I started it about a week after I bought my xbox 360 and didn't touch the xbox for weeks while I was playing this 😀

its not the most epic of stories but the one major plot twist near the end is actually really good and unique . tidues is just a dream offspring and so therefore never actually was real ..thats so deep and sad. There is no way around the fact that completing the mission means all those generations after the slumber must un alive lol . i love the FF games where there is no clear back to normalcy outcomes

Edit - I know I'm very late, but what are the chances that Jenova ended up being Sin? When they arrived, they took on the appearances of lost loved ones, according to FF7, Aeriths' Mom was describing it. They could be either souls or dreams.

all the in game cutscenes look like crap man.
pro tip: setting the framerate higher on emulator will mess with most animations in a lot of games. all older console games are tied to their framerate as it was mostly a constant
everyone looks like they are on crack zipping into the scene and jittering if standing still. i honestly thought it was my eyes messing with me for half the video.
edit* 21:02 is a perfect example Tromell fell over way after he was suppose to because the running animation was tied to frame rate and him falling wasn't

In my opinion and I might be in the super minority which is ok. I think FFX is the best FF game followed by IV, VI and VII.

c. trigger, final 7 and 8 have better stories than 9 and 10 and 6 but all these games are much much better to modern games in terms of plot and overall gameplay. they are just so epic
I just finished the remastered version after having downloaded it on my switch for 2 years. I regret not finishing it as soon as I got it
FF10 one of the hardest to evaluate (is it above median FF or not). On one side it s soooooo linear due to removal of world map / on other side world is interesting. Characters a bit too teenage oriented but some redeeming moments and good designs. Story some climatic moments and a lot of forgettable ones. Plot is ok I guess, ending is impactful. Villain: Jecht is good but not Seymour. Verdict: on the fence.
