im waiting for this to happen. i really dont understand why they arnt pushing these hard cause the market is EXTREMELY hot right now for 3.6-4 inch pistols.
Kind of optic specific on the carbon issue. I have multiple M&P pistols, the 2 that I shoot the most is 4" compact and a full size spec series, both have Holosun 509T optics on C&H Precision adapter plates. Those optics sit further back on the slide than your optic (approx. 3/16"), I don't get any carbon on optic glass. I thought about trying an Apex trigger, never shot with one. But did install a Timney trigger in the full size pistol, little light for a duty pistol but man is it awesome for range or competitive shooting. I have not shot the metal M&P yet, a friend just purchased one but no range trip yet, I am looking at the new Spec Series metal with comp.
I had a 508t mounted on my polymer 2.0 and I had the same issue with the carbon, albeit not as severe. That comped version looks like it would be a sweet shooter for sure!
@@MagDumpGuns - Several others sit forward against the slide cut like an RMR. The 509T on C&H plate sits 3/16" back from slide cut, guess that's just enough to not have the carbon issue.
That gun is badass. I just bought an M&P CORE 4" and I got an Apex trigger on the way. I put a Votatu dot on it, and that's my first optic. I'm trying to get used to it and the M&P trigger.
Nice I’m trying to source the core slide and barrel with no luck. I know Smith and Wesson used to sell the core kit but not available anywhere now. If anyone has a place that sells them lmk.
Yeah I wanted to buy one but they were out of stock at the time. I have since switched to the SRO on this pistol but haven’t shot it yet. I’m hoping that overhang on the SRO will help out with the carbon issue.
Love the M&P line, I have the 1st gen still and a couple 2.0's. I think Smith & Wesson messed up with these metal frame 2.0's. They should be around 40 oz Total weight and should've came with a Apext trigger from the box.
That would be a cool option for a top of the line competition focused pistol, but I feel like they have something special here with the aluminum frame as a duty or defensive handgun that will be carried for extended periods of time.
My LGS is working on getting me one as a first responder (Firefighter/EMT). He hasn't heard back from S&W yet, but the pistol is currently out of stock anyway.
The ACRO plate was aftermarket - FCD. I have since put a holosun 507 comp on it using the factory plate with no issues. My most recent M&P since this one actually came with a metal RMR plate from the factory so maybe they changed that.
So hard to answer! I love both and would trust either with my life. I have many thousands of rounds through Glocks so I probably feel a bit more comfortable with them but you can’t go wrong with either. I do feel that these two are at the top of the striker fired game.
Badass looking pistol but I wish they made a steel frame. Aluminum doesn’t add enough weight to make it that much different from the polymer I would think.
Give it a year of use. Aluminum alloy dents fades and scratches very easy. Just look at any big revolver that is alloy or has the alloy barrel shroud. Looks like crap. Too much money. Trigger is no better than the poly.
Yeah the mag well is definitely showing some use already. On the other hand, AR receivers are aluminum and take a ton of abuse. Maybe won’t be pretty anymore but that really doesn’t bug me too much.
you must have gotten lucky. This gun can't be found or purchased. I don't understand why this is classified as a Law Enforcement Only gun. Just because it's black? So dumb.
@@MagDumpGuns Do you think it's worth the extra $$. I can get a fullsize polymer with 2.0 trigger and threaded barrel for $600. Also, I want to know what you think about that lose front strap on the metal.
Now that’s the way it should have been released to the public.
Agreed!
Man I wish I knew they made a black version before I bought mine
S&W need to make an “all metal” line all the way down to the compacts in 3.6 and 4 inch. 🔥🔥🔥
im waiting for this to happen. i really dont understand why they arnt pushing these hard cause the market is EXTREMELY hot right now for 3.6-4 inch pistols.
Yeah I would consider one if they made a 4" compact version.
Needs to be steel.
Really want a m2.0 3.6 optics ready, but I have a feeling they will make a metal version in the near future.
Irons don’t cowitness with FCD plate and SRO either

@@julior.5351 is the CORE barrel more accurate?
The Calculated Kinetics Dog Tag optic plate fixes the carbon build up issue immensely.

What acro p.2 adapter plate did you purchase ?

Great review! Do you mind me asking how much you paid for it?
Thanks! I wanna say ballpark of $750
@@MagDumpGunsThanks!
I’ve heard ppl have problems after putting apex trigger light primer strikes
Theyre amazing! Top tier for sure!
I love Smith and Wesson but the reset on the original trigger is trash

Nice. It looks like they have a few different skus now for the black metal frame so he might need to try one of those.
You briefly mentioned but I just want to make sure. Did you use the mountain plate that came with MP or did you purchase a separate one?
The ACRO plate was aftermarket - FCD. I have since put a holosun 507 comp on it using the factory plate with no issues. My most recent M&P since this one actually came with a metal RMR plate from the factory so maybe they changed that.
Great video! Love the setup of your M&P! 🔥🔥🔥💯
Are the cowitness sights tritium from the factory?
On this SKU yes
@@MagDumpGuns Awesome, will have to call Smith and Wesson and see if I can get my hands on a set for my standard m2.0 metal
Fudge I wish this was available to the public, would have bought this instead of the grey.
Like I said I didn’t have to verify or anything so if you’re still interested there’s hope!
Just bought the OD Green spec series so don’t need another M&P Metal.
What’s your thoughts between this and a Glock? I see you run both

@@MagDumpGuns glock and S&W are the two best overall platforms to get into. ive compared all the popular compacts and these 2 win for various reasons.
Where does one get this? ;)
If you google the sku 13808 you should be able to find it pretty easily. I think there is an FFL or two with them on gunbroker as well.
@@MagDumpGuns no dice, sold out everywhere. Hopefully Smith is going to make another batch or just add suppressor sights to the silver models.
@@TheRancor53 looking at their LE site they have a few new skus including one with a mag well which sounds awesome. That one is 14073.
@@MagDumpGuns Yeah it does. Still no online vendors list it so far…
Does the LE sku come with metal optic plates?
I bought this plate aftermarket but I believe the plates it came with were still polymer.
Mine are metal. Still havent used them sonnot sure if they would hold zero
What optic is that?
