Great video. Suffered for 19 years with the old original flush valve which recently started leaking. Followed your video just as shown and got the whole job done in less than 30 minutes. THANK YOU!
I have had the crappy original flush valve for 12 years. Finally I took the time to replace it exactly as shown in this video. Great job on the video and thank you.
Great user friendly video! I tried just changing the blue gasket first. That kind of worked but I still had a small leak...so I tightened the black wing nut on the top of the flush valve a bit more. That was too much and I ruined the flush valve for sure. So I ordered a new flush valve, followed your instructions and now the ghost who was flushing my commode has been exercised! Just the sounds of silence...until uses the bathroom! Thanks a ton!
Great video. I came back to it after I put it all back together. Learn by my mistake: When reinstalling the tank remember to put back the large black gasket back on the bottom of tank after tightening the large nut. I also found that I could loosen (& tighten) the 2 nuts that hold down the tank to the base without the wrench by using a large screw driver and reaching underneath while sitting straddled over the toilet seat and putting 1 finger on the nut while unscrewing. thanks you.
American Standard "invention" is just what you say, horrible. Replaced both of mine ($110 for the pair), started ghost-flushing within months. Went online and purchased a pair of NuFlush 4" replacements. 100-year-old design. Bombproof !
The handle was loose and dangling so you could not push the handle to flush, it was loose on the tank itself & the entire inside of the connection was also loose I tried to fit the handle in the space of the tank the correct way & proceeded to tighten the cheap plastic bolt, I tightened it gently & so far it flushes & has not continued to run after the water fills up in the tank. Does that make any sense to you? Hope it stays tight & works correctly. Thx for the fyi on the flapper, that was not our problem but now know how to replace that. Sincerely Mrs. P Lewis
I have the newer flush valve assembly and the toilet was leaking after I replaced the O-ring, the valve gasket and the tank gasket. What fixed the leak was tightening the tank down very tightly.
thanks for the informative video. Any chance you've seen that same flush piston on a one piece version of that toilet? I'm unsure of how to remove it without having a separate tank
How do you replace a loose handle on or new American Standard toilet and the stem? It keeps running unless we tap the handle up. The water tries to fill every few minutes.
I actually love my old Champion, I have the same white tower you have. Which one do you like better, the old Champion (white tower) or the new Champion 4?
I you haven't already, you should contact them about a new flush tower gasket. The blue gasket begins leaking. They'll send you a red one that won't leak if you contact them.
very short and very little flush! Your pipes will block up with poo* because this toilet uses to less water, and there is no enough water to sustain the perfect flush.
Thank you very much for your help, amazing video nobody knew how to help no even American Standard they have a bunch of morons running the customer service .
Thank you for the video, however jumping from step to step without actually showing the step isn't helpful at all! I have spent over an hour with the white wrench thing to try and get what you call the nut off of the bottom of the toilet. All it does is spin, it isn't a nut at all. It's permanently attached to the inside. It would be more helpful, even if it's longer, if you would show each step.

ME TOO! I can't believe I used it for so long also. I can't wait to smash that damn white flush valve.

Thank you. The video that keeps giving. I can't believe I lived with the old flush valve for over a decade. Horrible design.

Thanks for the info. This is the exact job I have to do.
Great how to video, can anyone tell me size of socket to use so I won't have keep fishing for the right one?
were did you get the flush valve kit home depo
Is there a way to do this on a one piece american standard toilet? How would I do it if I can't remove the tank?
thanks for the informative video. Any chance you've seen that same flush piston on a one piece version of that toilet? I'm unsure of how to remove it without having a separate tank
Have to do the same thing. Thanks for the video it helped

Are you sure the water is running because of the handle? Sounds like your flapper is not sealing right.
Hey! Have you had any leaks since the new valve. I have. american standard made a bad part for these toilets smh

I have the white tower too. I think it's poorly designed. Hoping this newer one will serve me better.
Good DIY video, but that's not a crescent wrench with an extension that you are using, that's a ratchet wrench.
thanks for the video. just what I needed.

My favorite part is how you have to remove the tank to replace these.

Hearing the old toilet run refilling 2-5 times an hour was so annoying
On my American Standard Titan you cant change just the seal. you have to replace the whole assembly. Very sad business practice!
Thank you!
Most problematic toilet I've ever owned and dealt with.
