Listen to the entire concept album as this is just one part of the whole story. You'll get a far deeper understanding and appreciation.
Yes, it's all connected.
Or just watch the movie (its great too). My favorite Pink Floyd album has always been Animals (though I love them all).
This is my favorite album and movie!
This song will suffice... US Good/ Russia Bad
🧱🧱🧱
Guarantee that most PF fans are jabbed.
The Teacher was reading the Lyrics to" Money" on the Dark Side Of The Moon Album and he referred to it as rubbish
@@67tajmahal I agree with you.
The kids are nameless, faceless masses put through the grinder by the education system.
As I’m sure everyone is saying, you have to hear the whole album in it’s entirety. Light up, sit back, and make a reaction video to the whole album!! 👍👏
Even take a drop of acid or some shrooms like the album was meant for
Yes yes, I concer.
@@Dopinders_Taxi Now that would be a reaction video I’d like to watch. 😵💫
Took your advice, so far so good🔥🔥
“We Don’t Need No Thought Control”; you can say that again.
It's almost impossible to make sense of what's going on here, just by seeing this one video. This is just a small part of Pink Floyd's The Wall Concept album and The Wall movie. It's a story about a boy named Pink , and his struggles growing up in the time period of WW2 , so the mid 1940s.
His abusive teachers, (here in this video), an overbearing Mother, (depicted in another video, Mother), and his father dying in WW2, were all things little Pink deals with as he grows.
The Wall was this incredibly enormous World Concert Tour in 1980 and 1981, it was dubbed a Rock Opera and the album was one of the greatest examples of a 'Concept' Album. A full length movie was released in 1982, shortly after they completed the tour.
And of course there’s the movie, starring Bob Geldof.
@@ashleydixon4613 Yes, excellent!
I love Pink Floyd. Their song Comfortably Numb is my favorite and arguably one of the best guitar solos ever in a song!
Agreed - best song. They reacted to that song a couple months ago. It caused Jai to have quite the significant emotional reaction.
@@Frostrazor i just saw that reaction videos. Beautiful to see someone brought to tears by the power of music. It made me emotional seeing that.
"How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat", was what my Dad would sing in the hallway to get us kids up for school.
This song went on, when I woke up, every day before reform school...70's & 80's baby here!
This song was way ahead of its time! I remember when this song first came out I was like holy shit! It’s such a classic
Roger Walters wrote the album The Wall about his life ,bits in the Wall include Mother , Teachers, Women , Stardom . Its the ultimate concept album
I was paddled in school too, Jai. Pink Floyd is one of my favorites ever. I've been a fan since my friend turned me on to them back in the 70s. Peace & love to you both.🎄
I had a math teacher in 7th grade sit on my desk in front of the whole class and tell me I would end up scrubbing toilets in burger king.
Yeah, my 7th grade math teacher enjoyed sending me to the blackboard alone to work a new problem out knowing I couldn't do it right the first time and embarrass me in front of everyone
@@rbfortynine2008 same dude. At least I know my life turned out better and happier than that miserable fuck. I hope the same for you ✌🏻
@@Uninvited72 I'm guessing he targeted me because I was backwards, sort of clumsy, slow, shy, etc. My math skills were pretty decent until then. After that they went downhill and stayed down there. He didn't win any teacher of the year awards in my book. But I recovered from it. Glad you did too.
@@rbfortynine2008 *high five*
@@rbfortynine2008 pS I still suck at math but never once did I need that shit in all of my life lol
This was part of the soundtrack for the movie The Wall.👍👍💙💙
I had my first strapping in the first grade, it was school policy during my time. I highly recommend you listen to Pink Floyd and most other rock music with headphones. It's a whole different experience! Nice reaction!
Agreed🎧. especially Pink Floyd ❤️✌️🌼
I love that you did this song reaction reminds me of my grandfather he was a big Pink Floyd fan. He once told me about one of the concerts that he went to and he said at that Pink Floyd concert there were pigs flying in the air... he said it was the coolest thing he ever saw. Thank you so much for this video.
You grandpa got good ears....
@@erikmskima7545 yes he did. We listened to all kinds of music together.
I was fortunate to attend The Pink Floyd Exhibition in the Vogue Multicultural Museum. My daughter who only knows a few songs went with me & loved it. It had everything!! There’s a story about someone complaining those pigs scaring a neighbors animals. I can’t remember details but my imagination had me laughing. I recommend attending the exhibition if it’s nearby.
The Wall is about the Wall that the main character "Pink" puts up around himself after all the abuse he went through as a child. And what it took to tear it down. The song Mother tells the story. As NEARLY EVERYONE has and will tell you, listen to the whole album, it will take you on a crazy ride. The movie explains the story, but tends to get in the way of the music at times. Many of the musical interludes have amazing imagery in the movie with estensive use of animation.
Don't think so, maybe it's about the education system that was created to control us, in the industrial revolution, sorry about my English, it's been a long time since I practiced. It's a classic I've seen the whole DVD several times, cheers from a Brazilian living in Argentina, but maybe if you think from another perspective maybe it's about the whole education system that limit us from thinking and obey what the system needs, and don't allow us to grow up and have new ideas, cheers
@@marcusviniciuscostadoamara6056 the Education system is just one of the Bricks in Pinks Wall. His dead father, his overprotective mother, and drugs are all bricks.
Yeah … that was a message from the past which suits to our times better than ever. You got it right, just like the song says - “all in all you’re just another brick in the wall”. The students - THE PEOPLE, the teacher - the governments. If I was them, I would think twice before messing with the people, ‘cause that is what can happen. Salutations from Romania …
Pink floyd and half and jai let's gooo🎶🔥🎶
1990, Berlin, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Pink Floyd performed 'The Wall' at the Brandenburg Gate, one of the greatest Concerts of the 20th century! 'The Wall', top ten of the greatest ablums of the 20th century too!
This song is from my favourite album of all time ever from any genre.
It's about thought control as they say. In the classroom, teaching children to benefit the system, not to individual freedom.
Very much like today! Quote:
Teacher, leave them kids alone!
Media and government, the fall of the Berlin wall is what this song's about!
I'm an Immigrant from Europe, this song is legendary and to remind us of this danger! Not allowing History to repeat itself ❤🙏🇺🇸
The album "The Wall" was released 10 years before the Berlin Wall was torn down. I do know that Roger Waters performed in a unified Berlin not long after.
GOOD VIBES BABY GOOD VIBES!! BOOM!
My absolute fave part lol...
This is the first favorite song I was 10 my parents played music all the time so music wasn't new to me but this song was the first I connected with I wanted to hear it
Why we love these reaction videos? We are reminded just how we are all just people with so many similarities that are just pure love, one of them right here:
Half heard Pink Floyd and Mary Jane said "Oh I gotta hear this" ❤
The _"another brick in the wall"_ lyric makes sense if you listen to _"The Wall"_ album, or the movie by the same name. The story behind it is Pink, a burned-out rock star, who has been building a psychological wall around himself since childhood and now drifts further into isolation and drug-fuelled delusion. Each brick of the wall represents a psychological defence or coping strategy that all of us have developed to deal with traumatic times throughout our lives. The finale of the story is Pink destroying the wall and being free.
That was the protagonist “pink” who through his experience as a young man, was building “a wall” around himself to protect himself from the cruel world around him. That particular experience was just another “brick in the wall” he is erecting in his mind shutting out the people around him. Which that imaginary wall he built in his mind comes to a culmination in “Comfortably Numb” that resulted in a breakdown. If you listen to the entire album in order, you’ll get the concept of the wall and the story of “pink” which was loosely based off of the co-founder of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett. Who literally had a mental breakdown and was hospitalized for years.
Sitting in a snowbank at the end of my driveway listening to this album (cassette) in my Sony Walkman as a depressed 14 year old. Ha. Awesome memories.
Strangely, it actually helped me get through some tough teenage times.
@@wmpratt2010 I like to think that now for myself, but honestly think it just shoved me further into my brain case. Regardless, I related like hell to it, and that’s what counts.
I also used to listen to the Wall on a personal cassette player. But i wasn’t 14, i was 16.
My teacher in fifth grade made me wear a sign saying " I can't keep my mouth closed during class". My mom who was also a teacher saw this during recess and ripped the sign off, then gave that teacher a mouthful. She became a hero to me that day.
Embarrassed, Yep! Catholic grade school! Nun shoved my face in a book after she thought I cheated…..BUT, in defense my hands went out and pushed the book off the desk and caused me to hit my head on the desk, and gave me a huge bruise on my forehead. At dinner my parents questioned me and I told them what happened…5 minutes later my dad and I were knocking on the convent door to have a impromptu parent/teacher/student conference!!! 😳. Did I mention my dad was an attorney???? She never touched another student again. In fact, she was “transferred” after that year! 😉
ok in middle school I had a Greatest her named Mr. Hickey, he was fantastic. He taught a song so we could easily remember prepositions. It goes to the tune Yankee Doodle. I STILL know it 18 years later.... I was in an english class in 8th grade mumbling to myself the song so I could get the correct word. The teacher asked what I was doing and I said "oh the prepositions song" no one knew what the freak I was talking about and I turned into a circus act singing the damn song in way too many classes. Sad thing is, it's in Alphabetical order so I have to go through the the whole song to get to certain words.
This album as well as the Dark Side of The Moon album and best listened too from beginning to end instead of jumping around
Hey! Teacher! Leave those kids alone! 🎶🔥
Jai got distracted with hair flying in the face. She was all like "where did this come from?!" Lol.. glad to see y'all back! Shout-out from the great Hoosier state of Indiana!
Half and Jai ya'll are dope!! Listen the 'The Wall' beginning to end!! It's worth the ride!
The great thing about Pink Floyd’s music is so many different types of ppl can relate to it. Regardless of the songs meaning, you can feel it. If you don’t understand the lyrics, you feel the music ❤
Now that you've seen this, you should watch Korn's version of it! 🥰
Love you both!
An almost disco beat, which encourages tapping your feet to the rhythm of the music, and which even sounds joyful.
But when you listen to the lyrics, the joy seems to fade away.
Just like the Cranberries' Zombie song, catchy but with deep meaning.
My Spanish teacher once called me a “tonto” in class and I had no idea what that meant but the class laughed at me.
Little did I know “tonto” was a Spanish word for “stupid”
I haven’t forgotten till this day and I’m 36.
Damn, yeah she called you “dumb” in Spanish … teachers can be awful 😣
Lol...me and my buddies were cutting school at friends house. He had his own place in high school because he was a world class screw up. Anyway, we were hot knifing hash starting at about 9AM. Sometime around 11AM he put the new Floyd album blasting on the stereo. I vividly remember how dark the living room was due to blackout curtains being draped across the front window. I was contemplating the smoke curls as they wafted through the sun beams filtering in between the curtains. All of a sudden the tune "Is There Anybody Out There" came roaring out of the speakers at high volume. Talk about paranoia....
This is a good message for today's teachers and teacher unions. Leave my damn kids alone. Go teach your own kids to judge others and hate themselves on your time. The school system is a babysitter and programs good worker bees.
Comfortably Numb with the same young man..makes me cry every time because he reminds me of my youngest...sweet sensitive soul.
There are actually three versions of this song on the album, the other two are not about school. Part 1, 2 and 3.
One of the greatest bands to ever hit the stage.
When you asked about this being a movie, it was and is the whole album called The Wall. It is really hard to find but I think you can get the DVD on Amazon.
You're pretty spot on with your interpretation. The whole "just another brick in the wall" concept really can't be figured out by just listening to this song alone, because it's a bigger theme that runs through the whole album "The Wall" which tells a story from front to back.
The story is about how Roger Waters (singer/bassist) realized that over time he had built a metaphorical wall between himself and the outside world (like an emotional barrier that protects him by preventing him from getting close to anyone). By the end of the album, this emotional wall in his mind or heart that he built to protect him becomes his prison of loneliness and alienation. The album explores different experiences in his life that damaged him emotionally and contributed to him building that wall...and they are referred to as bricks in the wall. In this song, his emotionally abusive teachers were just another brick in the wall.
Well said.
Great song! I got in trouble but wasn’t embarrassed 😂; was in third grade and was straddling the bathroom stall hurling wet wadded toilet paper up at the ceiling; teacher caught me and yanked my ass down onto the floor; she and I both looked at each other like yep, this never happened 🤣🤣🤣
Had some great Friday and Saturday Evenings with live sessions with some of your fellow reaction video makers. Great time, everyone coming together over great music. Have 2 grown children, closer to 60, than 50, so yea, no night life for me lol.
One of my teachers hit me , oh my mother lost it , she cane to the school and had words ( it never happened again) .
The songs and movie are filled with symbolism. Everything from relationships, grade school, parents, it even has Nazis (The Hammers).
2 yrs after you watched this, but back in those days, especially in boarding schools, the cane was commonplace, my whole class was 1 day late in handing in our English homework, we didn't know it had to be done by that time, and all of us had to line up in the hallway while we each got 3 strikes from the cane, any more and the skin would most likely be cut open, we even had a teacher have his caning licence revoked because of his bad aim (he was supposed to hit the bum but he made the students look forward, thus raising their head and his aim was sometimes bad and he would cane them in the back of the head).
I was no holds barred! They didn't embarrass me.
I was a freshman in high school when this was released and it was HUGE!
Yes it was, And the end of 1979 ,, They dont even talk bout the song WHY ?
The 'teacher' is Scottish and back in the day that's exactly how Scottish teachers were.
I was slapped in rhe back if my head by my algebra teacher for not solving a problem fast enough.
Thanks for sharing! Too bad my phone can't deliver. Maybe in the future I'll be able smoke via phone, but not today😢
Pink Floyd albums have always been a journey or story throughout the entire record from first song to last. Sometime listen to the entire THE WALL album like that n you will get it never heard anybody laugh thru a pink song light heartedly as you did. That was different. Plz react to the song HEY YOU!! ITS ONE OF THE BEST ON THE WALL
@4:22 Half you can Catch them Bars in Pink Floyd "Money" or better yet react to 🌜Dark Side of the Moon🌛 album pt 1 or Side 1 then side 2 or 45 minutes💯🔥✌🤘
Lmao I got the paddled multiple times lol. I'm in my 30s lol. Love you twos channel
This whole album y’all 🔥 🔥 looking forward to more!
I am autistic. Went to school at a time when autism wasn't discussed. 1-3 grade I had a teacher who continuously singled me out to the class. Every as assignment I was used as the example of what not to do. I still struggle to see self worth in myself.
Great song & story. Yes , embarrassed in my french class , when the teacher would wake me up and ask me to repeat that.
Everything that happened to the character Pink in the story was just “another brink in the wall” he built around himself starting as a child, and he isolated his mind so much that in the end he went crazy. It’s my favorite album of all time and the movie helps show the story Roger Waters told in the album. Definitely worth watching!
Ok lady
Great song I grew up listening to all the great music of the 50's 60's & 70's 80's 90's 2000's I'm getting close to 60 . I threw my milk a my kindergarten teacher for slapping me I bumped into a little girl and she fell over I helped her up but I was running to my seat it was an accident they kicked me out of school for a week
You're watching the clip from "The Wall" movie released after the album. It's a little tougher to hear the song with this clip but easier to figure out the songs meaning.
Absolutely- I’m 47 and I still remember being *mortified* by several teachers through the years. I can feel myself getting red as I type
Side note: the kids singing in this song are all grown up today and took Pink Floyd to court or tried too, they wanted a piece of the pie for this song since they were singing in it, but that case got thrown out, they didn’t deserve a dime, Rogers Waters had some select choice words for those kids now grown up in an interview a couple of years ago,lol
The "poem" is from the song Money.
Awesome! That video was from the Movie. Pink Floyd the wall.
In 5th grade art class, I drew a vivid photo of a nude woman, and the teacher caught me and told the class what it was. She kept it. I knew she was a freak.
You two are soooooo adorable, I can't!
Oh god, my friends and I got lit af in HS and me and one of my girls had English class together after. We kept geeking for no reason, so the teacher says so what did you do on ur lunch break 😲 Whole class staring, so we put our heads down for the rest of the class. At least she didn’t send us to the office 🤣
Love y'all. Saturday night seems like a good time. Great video... although it used to freak my boys out but not my daughter funny enough.
9:50 that's kinda the high school I went to! spit my drink out! lol
i went to high school in texas, a conservative school disctrict with one high school. it was public school. but we had prayers every morning on PA announcementd, up untill like 2005 when it became “monent of silence”. also the paddling. i never saw it, but i remember there being like a clause somewhere in the rules that gave the school permission for corporal punishment if the parents signed a paper allowing it. but i never knew anyone that it happened too.
This came out in 1979 One of my fav songs of the 70s ,, THE BEAT IS FANTASTIC And loved nto dance to it in clubs ,,, Love the 1970s Why did you NOT comment on the music and beat ?
Teachers tried to embarrass me but it didn’t work because I don’t embarrass easily
It's a reaction to how schools are institutionalizing kids and the cruel way some teachers can be.
I was raised in Scotland and I had teachers that sounded EXACTLY like the one in the video. Not all of them were nasty to the students, of course, but they all had Scottish accents. To be fair, so do I. But that's only becuase I'm Scottish. We were given "the strap" or we'd have to go up to the front and hold out a hand for the teacher to whack it with the ruler. No shit! And if I got smacked at school, I'd get another at home for being bad at school. My friends in America all say that my Dad sounded like the bloke at the end saying, "You can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat". I don't think he sounded anything like that, except of course for the Scotish accent. But tha's just me
By the way, the "poem" that the teacher was making fun of were the lyrics to the song "Money" from the album Dark Side of the Moon. Just for context, Dark Side of the Moon stayed on the Billboard Album chart for something like 20 consecutive years. That's right, YEARS on the charts not weeks.
Love your reaction ❤ and uhm Half, one day Jai is going to knock your hat off with your playful teasing hahahaha...my husband of 34 years has always teased me too. I know its yalls way of being playful 🤣
i love how this man got the joint on standby 😂
You guys HAVE to watch the Wall by Pink Floyd. It's amazing!!!!
I Love This Band. Every Track They Did Is Brilliant. Love The Review😊👍
My fav song by them. So glad ya'll did this
Fun fact the poem is actually the song “Money” 💖💖
This was my fav reaction by y’all so far ❤️
Must watch the movie The Wall by Pink Floyd, it takes their songs to another level.
Live times - after work hours (6pm EST) or weekends is a good time for me. I work from home but I can't guarantee I'll have time to watch
Sit down with your favorite drink and smoke and watch pink Floyd the wall movie in stereo surround sound
Schools in England were different a long time ago. wealthier families sent their kids to boarding schools, that sometimes had bad reps.
Pink Floyd will change your life
I got paddled in the 3rd grade for smashing lunch boxes on the playground during recess.
It's also a movie "Pink Floyd The Wall"
You could call it Good Vibes Live!!!
Man said “ground beef or hot dogs” lmao
This video is actually from the movie Pink Floyd The Wall if you watch the movie you will completely understand all of these segments and everything that you're seeing
I got paddled once for not turning in a math assignment.
And when I was 15 in the 10th grade at a Christian School, I was paddled by the maintenance man for stealing a truck from my friend to go get cigarettes. There's a lot more to this story...
In elementary school I was passing a love note to one of my crushes this was in the 4th grade and the teacher read the note out loud to the whole class and that was the most embarrassed I've ever been in school
