You really didn't hear it all the way through. There are 26 interconnected tracks in the album; it is one long story line. The English education system is just one brick among the many bricks he sings about through the first 13 tracks of the album. The smashing of the TVs at the end signal his complete isolation from the world, the source of all his problems. The last 13 tracks are about the world he creates in his head. You will have to listen to see how that turns out and then the twist at the end to see how close you listen.

The wall refers to an emotional wall hes building around him to block off reality, and each of the people from his father to the teachers to his wife, his mother, and band managers and so on are all adding to his slipping put of reality and behind his emotional wall, they are all just bricks in his wall.
You almost have to hear the album as a whole to understand the depth of the story.

    You mentioned a teacher's perspective.
My daughter's third grade teacher was at our house with her daughter for a girl scout meeting years ago. My daughter was in the basement with Another Brick in the Wall part 2 blasting. Her teacher went down and talked with her. It was one of her favorite songs. With the song calling out all of the flaws in the school system, she thought it was great.

Loving your thoughtful reception of the music. You’re hitting on the emotions the band intended for this narrative (concept album/film) really fast. Love love love a new person discovering Floyd. I see them as the Beethoven of the 20th century.

'The Wall' differs a little from other Pink Floyd albums in that it is fictional theater. Some say 'Rock Opera', and while an apt description, that label never sounds right to my ear.
'The Wall' is a story of a man's descent into madness.
Roger Waters drew heavily from his own life giving 'Pink', the protagonist, a similar start in life as his own... losing his father to war when he was an infant.
Apartheid South Africa banned 'Part 2'. Apparently they didn't appreciate the anti-establishment themes.
    Great reaction! Send more!

Yes pink Floyd are a English group and the kids singing in the song were from a school in London hence their London accents and this was from the seventies, the music from the album was from the film The Wall to understand it a bit more watch the film it's very good and strange, the lead actor in it is Bob Geldof the lead singer of boomtown rats.

The Wall refers to a psychological barrier "Pink" creates as a safe place and shield from the forced conformity.
But as many other comments point out, the entire album is Pinks life story so picking out a few tracks is tricky.
It's a double album so might be a major project to do videos for the entire thing.
As an alternative Dark Side of the Moon (another concept album) is a single album where again each track transitions from one into the next.
If you want to see the guys "back in the day" then as an "older" Brit who grew up listening to PK I would suggest taking a peek at Echoes - Live at Pompeii where the guys play in an empty Roman Amphitheater with no audience apart from maybe a bunch of ghosts.
Anyway it's a trip, so if you want to risk it, buckle up Dorethy Kansas is about to go bye bye! 😂

It was fascinating listening to your reaction to this, especially when you're trying to figure out what Another brick in the Wall meant, and seemingly thinking about the teachers as the subjects of the songs.
It was fascinating because I remember when I first heard this album and I was trying to figure it out for the first time, and I listened to the end tire album in one sitting, so it seemed to make a lot more sense to me than it did to you.
I would definitely say that you listened to these songs the wrong way.
This album should to be listened to from the first track to the last track in order to be understood. It is a story song. If you start watching a movie 10 minutes in, then jump in another 5 minutes, then jump in another 20 minutes, and turn the movie off, you will be confused as hell! That's the same thing with this album.
I hope by now you've listened to the entire album all the way through without pauses and learned that the album is following a man named Pink.
In my opinion, Pink Floyd is one of the most brilliant bands that have ever existed, and their way to produce music, while being innovative, has never really been copied.
I'm hoping you will listen to all of their music to get a better idea of who they are. Definitely listen to the Piper's at the Gates of Dawn, their first album, with many of the songs written by Syd Barrett, the inspiration of Pink Floyd.
    And read his story.

This song is a commentary on the British education system of the 1970's. The kids are processed by the schools to produce kids that fit the system. Individuality was discouraged. Uniformity was everything. Hence the title Just Another Brick in the Wall.

Part 2 is capturing the essence of British education 50 years ago. However, the theme is still important: It is the purpose of the education system beat individuality out of kids so that they can be good submissive adults.

Yep, must listen to the full album or even watch the movie (think of it as a long video clip), the final distortion is not purposeful, the compiler of the video you reviewed increased the volume of the last track, originally the voice is very low (because he is suposedly singing from behind the wall he just built to seal himself from the world)

It's great that you listened to a block of songs, although you missed some context by skipping some.
Most of their albums were first released on vinyl, not CD. I'd suggest googling the albums to get the track order on each side, then listen to them one side at a time. The Wall was a double album. So 4 sides.

I had a very hard time digesting and adapting to the monotony of Swedish school system from 1970-1979, and that was before a lot of weird names were invented on my so-called symptoms because I had a hard time sitting still and concentrating on the teachers' monotony lesson.
The political school system can never be wrong so let's find the flaws in the kids instead.
In the school's to day, they had pointed me out as a kind of letter child you know as ADHD but in fact I was just a child with too much energy to sit still and listen to something so monotonous and boring like most of the old teacher's presented the lessons, most of them should have changed professions a long time ago instead of just wait for retirement.

ABITW got the radio play but now has become trite by overplaying. “Nobody Home” never gets the love (lol) but it’s such a sweet tribute to all the members in PF. If you look around you’ll find a pic of Syd wearing his yellow Gohill boots. Wright, Gilmour, and even Waters get “sideways” referenced, poetically. Fun fact: Waters said it was last song written for the album... sort of “for filler.”
