The scariest part they actually TUNED DOWN the debauchery in the movie from what actually happened in the company, because they figured nobody would actually believe it.
@@bluecomet1109 midget tossing / dwarf tossing used to be a big thing back in the 80s and 90s. Hilariously that is actually one of the more believable parts. Brad Williams a hilarious stand-up comedian with dwarfism even made the joke that he couldn't get in a Blackhawk helicopter in Afghanistan so he had to look at a soldier and say something he never thought he would ever say "OK dude I can't get up in there... you're gonna have to toss me"
I laughed when Aisa told BJ "Don't you say nothing!" about Margot Robbie's nude scene. When I was in the theater EVERY guy said, "Dayummm!" in unison..
fun fact about the true story, during Jordans "incarceration" his cellmate was Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong who was serving time for drug trafficking.
They didn't bust Tommy Chong for selling drugs they busted him for drug paraphernalia and it was his son's company. They were sending bongs over state lines to certain states where you're not allowed to send bongs
So apparently nearly that whole lunch scene between DiCaprio and McConaughey was imrpovised and McConaughey carried the entire thing. And the director just left it in the film. If you look carefully youll see DiCaprio is doing best to not bust out laughing during that entire scene 😅
True story. What a story. As someone who had a mom and stepdad working on Wall Street in the 80’s and 90’s 😂I can only relate through child eyes-I always loved the authentic feel of the fast, paranoid pace of this movie. Thanks for the reaction guys!
I remember telling my dad about this movie and he said he had met Jordan at one of his seminars, as he put it, "the dude was a real asshole". Great movie tho, Scorsese always kills it, and the performances were top notch.
I can’t imagine the time it must have taken to edit this. On a more serious note his second wife (played by M. Robbie) in real life is now a therapist and author specializing in abusive relationships and narcissistic abuse. I’m glad she got away from him and healed. People like him do not change.
2:29 The helicopter pilot is played by the nephew of the former Governor of Connecticut Dan Malloy. His name is Kerry. He even emailed me about his time on the film, even going so far as mentioning me to legendary director Martin Scorsese and about how knowledgeable I am about film, a message that almost gave me a near fatal heart attack. 😅
Jonah Hill tells my favorite story about this movie. Over the course of the shoot he and Di Caprio were in a lot of scenes together where they had to flail away and batter each other in various stages of intoxication and inevitably Jonah was getting the worst of this because Leo's much bigger than him. He wanted to get back at Leo somehow so he waited for his chance and found it with the scene that ends with Jonah declining the last piece of yellowtail and Leo eating it. The scene was scripted with Jonah gulping down the yellowtail but during improv when they were figuring out the scene Jonah tried refusing it and letting Leo eat it which made it into the final scene. Jonah knew that Leo was gonna have to eat at least 50-100 pieces of yellowtail in the course of shooting that scene and getting all the takes of all the angles. (Any actor other than Brad Pitt knows NOT to be eating in a scene in a movie because you're gonna make yourself sick eating through all the takes - Tom Cruise learned this in "The Outsiders."). Anyway as the takes went on and he'd end the scene with "nah, you can have it" Jonah watched Leo turning more and more green and sickly with each bite of yellowtail until finally Leo was vomiting everything into a trash can in a corner. Two people were laughing uproariously at the spectacle - Jonah and Scorsese. 🤣🤣🤣
Great reaction guys! I’m a Wall Street vet who worked at the first bldg Belford worked at in the movie (120 Broadway) for many years. Trust me when I say, you do not want to work for guys like him.
Also at the end of the movie, after his prison time. When he's being introduced as the 'greatest sales trainer '.. That was the real life Jordan Belfort making the announcement. Lol
His cell mate in jail was Tommy Chong (cheech&chong). It was Tommy who told him to write his life story which became the manuscript that was bought by Martin Scorsese to make this movie. He only spent 22 months in jail. Still rich living in Miami.
Another crazy true story😂 Mathew McConaughey was awesome even though he played a small part. Check out Dallas Buyers Club since you're doing true stories. He won an Oscar for it. Brilliant acting.
I worked on Wall Street from the late 1990s, and knew of Jordan Belfort and his shady firm Stratton Oakmont even though they were not actually located on Wall Street. Those guys along with other similar fly-by-night firms were notorious for bilking investors by manipulating the micro-cap (low volume) market generally by inflating trade volumes. I remember when the SEC and the FBI began to crack down on those firms. Anyway, the guy at the end who introduced 'Jordan Belfort' on stage to speak to the crowd, was actually the REAL Jordan Belfort. Also, yes, he still lives in the USA and is actually doing very well for himself.
It's strange because when I see that scene where Jordan, says 'F**k It. I'm not leaving.' it always makes me smile. I know it's stupid, and part of me doesn't want him to do it. But another part of me is happy he didn't give in. There's something very American about somebody grabbing their nuts and yelling 'F**k You, don't tell me what to do.' I can't help liking it when I see that spirit in somebody, even if they are insanely misguided.

Interesting fact! At the very end of the movie when Jordan's teaching that semenar on how to sell him the pen. The speaker who introduces him to the audience is actually the real life Jordan Belfort making a cameo. 😃
That stairs scene still is so brilliant... showing it to him as a massive staircase to roll down but in reality it was only a few steps. I love that scene so much..
One of the funniest movies of all time! Historically accurate about the excesses of the 80s-90s. It’s a cycle of booms and busts on Wall Street with a new cast of characters each time. Unfortunately all of our fates are tied to what goes on there through our 401Ks and pensions for people who still have them.

Old School.
BJ: Why couldn’t I have a job like this at 21?
Asia: Because you had me! 😅👍🏻
Honestly, one of the best films to ever touch cinemas. Instant classic.
When Margot Robbie was standing there and she turned to him and said "You better not say nothing" was freaking hilarious. I almost spit up my water.
Hahaha Margot is ALMOST as pretty as Asia 😉
