Christopher Walken is another tier of actor for being able to keep a straight face giving the watch speech. Incredible.

How about the actors not busting out laughing while Walken speaks with his 1930s NY accent+ his quirky pauses, and inflections on the wrong vowels.

Haven't seen this movie in awhile now I just realized that when Jules said "Marcelle Wallace doesn't like to be f**ked by anyone except Miss Wallace" was foreshadowing.
I’ve seen this movie prob more than 20 times and I never put this together either ha 😮

You are 100% correct. The "last" shot of the story is Bruce Willis riding off on the bike with his girlfriend. This film is such a masterpiece. Not only is it a fantastic script (it won the Oscar for Best Screenplay), the performances are outstanding, and the directing is legendary. This film influenced SO many other filmmakers. It changed filmmaking when it came out. That's the reason its so well remembered 30 years on 🙂
The dialogue is a master class
Chronologically, Butch is shown in both the first (receiving the watch) and last (leaving the motel) scenes. 🤔
Oh hell, I never thought of Zed's Dead as the last shot chronologically. Damn. And I've seen this like 100 times.

They didn't try to intimidate or wanna kill Marvin. He was their friend who snitched on the guys who they killed in the beginning... Travolta was just talking carelessly with a loaded gun in his hand when it went off
Yeah, Vincent was definitely lacking in trigger and barrel discipline.
Vincent's decay from being a badass is one of the core parts of his character. The more you see the less cool he is.

I’ve watched a couple reactions and everybody missed it when they mention their guy being in the apartment, and that is Marvin. Maybe I’ve just seen the movie so many times it seems obvious? I dunno haha

@@leniobarcelos1770 Yes when they arrived at the restaurant she mentioned to him that she thought an Elvis fan like him would enjoy this place and with all the waiters and waitresses dressed up as celebrities from the 40s, 50s and 60s she said into the mic in an Elvis sounding voice "Vincent Vega" which was his name.
There are so many good lines in this movie, but my favorite is when Jules is face ti face with Ringo across the table, gun in hand, and he says, "Now I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is *you're* the weak. And I am the tyranny of evil men. But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard to be the Shepherd." Chills. Every time.

Just like the Bartender, Marcellus himself came out retirement and returned to “the field” to assist with the search for Butch. And since Jules had already retired to “walk the earth” he joined Vincent instead. Vincent is a handgun man, as we see. So the Uzi likely belonged to Marcellus

no it's not his gun. Marcellus was miles away. bruce drove pretty fast for miles, before he saw Marcellus. what's more, Marcellus was a boss, he's not going to be getting his own coffee. Vincent Vega played kind of a dunce throughout the whole movie.
@@klausrain111 But you forget, Vincent was one of Marcellus' good friends. So why wouldn't he grab coffee and donuts for him and Vincent? He doesn't treat Vincent like anyone else considering Vincent took Mia out the night before.
A common interpretation of this film is that it involves a constant theme of redemption. Those who accept a sign to change their ways end up escaping the criminal life in one piece, despite any previous wrongdoing (ironically, a sentiment Vincent mentions as they clean the car).
Butch remembers the story of his father's watch and goes back to save Marsellus, and is rewarded with a new life. Jules and Vincent are saved from the bullets, and while Jules accepts the sign, Vincent doesn't, and that's why Vincent dies.
Great reaction from both of you. This is one of my all time favorites. It's possibly the coolest movie out there.
Even Marsellus, though not leaving the criminal life, calls it even with Butch. It seems like a realization that his own actions have some fault for the situation. He could have, in the first place, just said “Hey, that’s part of this life. You win some, you lose some. I’ll be more cautious in my trust next time.” Instead, he let pride f with him, and got very vindictive about the situation. Maybe that’s a lesson to heed his own advice, rather than just giving it.
Some people have a tough time mentally laying out the timeline.. you guys had a fantastic grasp of it… it shows that you loved it and payed close attention. Great reaction guys!!
She thought she was snorting coke from Vincent's coat, it was heroin.
A side effect of heroin use is constipation.
Hence Vincent being in the bathroom multiple times reading.
Also heroin is usually in balloons coke in baggies. It was an honest mistake , but it'll teach her not to mess with anyone's dope.

Btw guys, “punchy” is a derogatory term for someone who’s slow or stuttery. Calling a fighter it is especially derogatory. Means they got hit one too many times and are slow whitted now.
Punchy is also a derogatory term for a boxer (guy who "punches"). He also called him "palooka" - another old derogatory term for a boxer.
vincent wasn't staking out butch's apartment alone, wallus was with him, he just went to get coffee and donuts, that's why he ran into wallus nearby.
After starring in the TV sit-com Welcome Back, Kotter, John Travolta's big break out movie role was Saturday Night Fever in 1977 where he did a lot of disco dancing. He also was in the musical Grease in 1978. So, yeah, he was known for his dancing. His career kind of faded until Tarantino cast him in Pulp Fiction which revitalized his career.
And in the end of Welcome Back Kotter, Kotter always told a joke like Mia Wallace was going to do in her show

Tarantino said that Vincent didn’t think he should go to Butch’s place bc he’s not stupid enough to go home. Wallace told him to go anyway and also went with him since Jules quit. The scene where they discussed it was cut from the final edit.
Also, Butch is the guy that keyed Vincent’s car for calling him punchy. The reason Mia od’d is bc she snorted it thinking it was coke but it was heroin. She thought it was coke bc it was in a baggie not a balloon. Remember that Vincent’s dealer said he was out of balloons and asked him if a baggie was ok.
RE: Butch keying Vince's car. How would he know what car Vincent drove? Vince and Jules had to share a cab to the diner after leaving Monster Joe's. That would mean they also needed a cab to get to the club to deliver the briefcase to Marcellus. That's when Vince and Butch cross paths. So, when did Butch ever see Vince's convertible??

The white liquid Mia was throwing up was the $5 Martin and Lewis (vanilla) milk shake. Vincent is always in the bathroom because heroin causes constipation. Tarantino doesn't leave those little details out.
No Tarantino always writes in backstories that are only implied in his movie. I saw an interview where he confirms it was Butch that keyed his car.
If Mia was such a cokehead, regardless of packaging she should have taken a tiny taste of the product to see how fast her tongue went numb. This not only would verify it was coke but whether it was cut heavily. I kind of wish I didn't know that - at least I thank God I never got addicted. I saw a few friends go down that road tho. :(
That was a lot of fun to watch this with you guys! The greatest movie of all time, for me. There are so many layers and dialog nuggets....now that you saw this the first time, this is where the real fun begins. When you watch again, you will find new aspects to appreciate about it. It's absolute perfection to me.
That's one thing I'm learning about watching movies as well. You feel like you fully understand the movie on the first watch but the super little things you notice the more you watch makes it that much better.

A code of honour, drifting down the decades, encoded in his genes, or at least in the bond of men. There are some things you can't let pass, at the end of the day you have to get up and look at yourself in the mirror. You want to like the image that's looking back.
For the love of God Samuel L. Jackson calling himself "The tyranny of evil men" is the only person who can say it and have it be believable.....put that line back in!

One of the themes in the movie IS peoole getting saved, which is why Zeds chopper was named "Grace", as in Saving Grace. And youre the first channel ive ever seen that even noticed the amount of miracles that happen
I love that although the storytelling is non linear the message really isn't. If you view it through Samuel’s arc its actually pretty linear. We start off with the robbery where he shows that he's changed and than we see how he became a changed man.

New to your channel. When this first came out in the movie theater I went in blind to see this because the movie I wanted to watch was sold out. I was blown away! I think I watched most of the movie with my mouth hanging open lol. I’ve been a Tarantino stan ever since and have watched everything he’s done. Absolutely enjoyed y’alls reactions. New sub. I look forward to more of y’all’s content!
I wish I had been more aware of this movie when it was in theaters, I didn't end up seeing it until 2004, it was in a stack of DVDs in my dad's living room. 😅
A masterclass in character dialogue and non linear storytelling, Pulp Fiction is one of the greatest American films of the last three decades. I further recommend the following Tarantino films if you’ve not seen them yet: Jackie Brown, Inglorious Bastards, Reservoir Dogs and The Hateful 8.
Oh yeah, you were right! Tarantino DID work on From Dusk To Dawn! He wrote the screenplay with his friend Robert Rodriguez, who directed it….Years later he would work with Rodriguez again on the double feature Grindhouse Presents: Planet Terror and Death Proof. Definitely films worth checking out. They’re nostalgic AF.

Great analysis, I have seen this movie several times and I never thought Samual Jackson's devine revalation actually saved him in the end, but it did. Wow!
It saves him physically and spiritually! It's hard to see past all the sex, drugs and violence but this film is all about morality - how do we define right and wrong? Does god exist? I think this film says "yes".
The idea of your friend taking your wife out is because ideally, you can trust the person she's going out with. He keeps her entertained and from getting lonely. The converse to this is, youre away on business, she gets lonely, she meets some guy who doesnt know or care about you as her husband, and sleeps with her.

Don’t change a thing. I’m a tough critic, but y’all did everything right: plenty of the OV, kept the audio when you had to cut away, paused the OV when y’all had a chat, and didn’t watch with English captions on like so many Gen Zers do. Perfect.
Captions isn't a generational thing. I watch a ton of reaction channels with varying ages and _many_ 40+ reactors also use captions. Not sure why anyone would have an issue with using them, especially in a reaction where they may miss audio but catch it on screen.

Films are meant to be seen and heard, not read. That’s why you don’t have captions in theaters. They can spoil scenes and you miss too many acting subtleties.
A gem of his that is often overlooked is "Jackie Brown". A great movie - I highly recommend.

I'm not sure if anyone commented this yet but if you go back to the beginning of the movie in the diner and listen really close you can hear Jules and Vincent in the background talking and you actually see Vincent walking to the bathroom.

Watch all of Tarantino's films (he's only made 9 in 30 years). All of them are cinematic masterpieces. Everyone ranks them in different order depending on their personal preference, but all of them are worth a watch. Enjoy 🙂

@@Mertztillithurts Four Rooms isn't counted as part of "Tarantino's Ten". Same as True Romance and Natural Born Killers. Yes, he wrote them, but they are not his films as he did not direct them. In order, his films are - Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill vol.1, Kill Bill vol.2 Inglorious Bastards, Django, Hateful 8, Once upon a time. Nine so far, with a tenth and final one to come.
If you do end up watching "Death Proof" - Tarantino and his buddy Robert Rodriguez got together and they each made a movie and they released the two movies together as a double feature under the name "Grind House". Tarantino's movie was "Death Proof" and Rodriguez's movie was "Planet Terror". When the double feature played in theaters they also had other film maker friends make fake trailers for fake movies and they showed the trailers along with the two "main features". If you do watch them, I'd recommend watching the entire "grind house" experience - two movies along with fake trailers.
Also, you mentioned "From Dusk Till Dawn" - that was a movie written by Tarantino and directed by Robert Rodriquez.
Grindhouse was wild in theaters. I went with a bunch of friends and it felt like we went back in time to the 80s for the experience.

You didn't know Travolta was a dancer? He dances in every movie he is in. I think it's in his contract. Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Urban Cowboy, Get Shorty, Look Whos Talking, , He even danced in that movie he played an angel in.

aaah.... actually...."Punchy" is a term for a boxer who is "punch drunk" from too many fights (this is NOT a complement). when Vega talks to his supplier, he tells him Butch keyed his car. OH! Marcellas doesn't trust his wife, thus, the date with Vega. and they did not win the dance trophy, they stole it.
"Done his duty." But upon revisiting this AM, all I hear and FINALLY caught, is this, "he's done his doodie." Dying here after decades and time.

You guys seemed to have a supreme understanding of this film. There’s actually a LOT more to it but you guys worked out a DEEP understanding of what went on in one viewing. It took me a few views to piece it together like you guys did.

best reaction to this movie I've ever seen. this is my favourite film so I love seeing people watch it for the first time. you guys have the perfect sense of humour for it.
most people talk all over the foot massage conversation at the beggining and miss all the punch lines. they assume that "nothing is happening yet, its just a load of talking" because they dont realise that the dialogue is the main thing. also you guys laughed at one of my favourite parts. its in the part where they have to stab her in the heart with the adrenaline shot. Eric Stoltz says "you have to bring the needle down in a stabbing motion like this" then he demonstrates the motion 3 times and John Travolta goes "I gotta stab her 3 times???" the situation is so serious but little bits like that are so funny and most people miss it. you guys made me shout "YES!" when you laughed at that.
ive seen this film a zillion times but ive never thought of your idea that the gun on the side counter at butch's place could have been Marceles Wallaces gun. I always assumed that, because John travoltas character is a dope head, he clumsily left it there, but I like your theory.

When Wallace’s girlfriend introduced themselves for the dance contest, she said Travolta’s character name, Vincent Vega. She said it very quickly and in a low tone, so it was hard to make out

The look on your face when Vincent shot Marvin was the same as mine and everybody else's in the cinema.
The three main characters -- Jules, Vincent and Butch -- all got the opportunity to find redemption.
Butch (some things just shouldn't happen to *anybody* ) and Jules chose redemption, while Vincent did not.
Butch and Jules lived, and Vincent didn't.
1994 had some juggernauts. I get your sentiment but Im not sure this is even the best movie of that year. I give the slight edge to Shawshank Redemption, but I loved both

It's like they're player characters in a tabletop RPG, and Vincent's player rolled a 1 on his charisma check at that moment. :D
Fun fact: the bullet holes were already in the wall before Alexis Arquette's character shot at them; it's something many of us miss no matter how many times we watch it, but after watching the top movie bloopers (can't remember who did it; maybe WatchMojo), I knew to keep an eye out for it & sure enough, there was at least one behind Samuel L. Jackson.
If you haven't, I think another Bruce Willis movie you should check out is Sin City; it's completely shot in the style of a graphic novel, as it was based on the neo-noir comics of the same name. And another John Travolta movie where he was the villain is Swordfish, about computer hackers (Hugh Jackman & Halle Berry are also in it).
(Not criticism, just a funny thought, here):

Yeah, Butch driving off with his girl is the real ending of the movie, timeline wise.
26:10 the dance scene is said to be an homage to a French film from the 60s that Tarantino loved, it featured some youthful criminals and in the middle of the film there’s an impromptu scene of them dancing to a jukebox in a cafe. But watching this when it came out, none of us were surprised at all to have Travolta have a dance scene. It was his calling card, like Tom Cruise sprinting. That man has a beautiful sprint.

One of my favorite little secret Easter eggs in this movie happens in the pawnshop. When Butch escapes and standing at the door right behind him is a license plate that says “Tennessee”. The license plate represents the choice to flee. But if you noticed above the doorway back downstairs, there is a burnt out Killian’s Red sign. I am not kidding you, the only letters that are illuminated are KILL ED. The Z on the keychain completes the sentence as he’s driving away after
Also, the sword Bruce Willis takes off the shelf in the pawn shop may be referenced in Kill Bill Vol. 2 when Bud, Bill’s Brother, tells Bill he pawned his Hattori Hanzo sword. 🤔

I love how Butch dreams about his father's death, and the martial nature of his family, and his dad's watch, and then wakes; it's assumed this is part of his makeup, part of his motivation, part of why the watch means so much. But later he comments to his girl, that he never remembers his dreams. That's writing, that's how to establish a plot point, that's bloody brilliant.

Ultimately, this is an organized-crime workplace comedy. My friends and I stayed mostly amateur, but every character in this movie was super familiar to us. That dealer's house is basically just like nearly every dealer's house I was ever in, for instance. The chaos, the dumb decisions, the crazy logic, this was our world, just not so outlandish. This movie went over-the-top in just the right ways. We laughed about and quoted this movie forever.
Visited my son in LA, he took me out to lunch. We talked movies, (he works in LA, everything is movies). I could see him holding something back & was excited about it. Won't say how long it took but we were eating lunch when I realized we were sitting in the exact same booth Vincent & Jules sat in during the filming of this movie. OMG... Highly Recommended if you're ever in LA! It changes the way you feel when you watch this movie.
I don’t know when you visited your son in LA but The Hawthorne Grill which was the diner at the opening and ending scenes closed in 1996 and was demolished in 1999.
