I know this is a late comment! I don't wear an expensive metal watch when turning any more - one swipe from your chuck jaws and...!! Loved the ornament.
I think that if you had put a smaller decoration of some sort on the top made out of the same material as the bottom one...that would have balanced out the piece.
Hi Nathan, One thing you may want to do is clean the wood with denatured alcohol because padulk is a oily wood. Then you can use your finishes. The two oils react with each other, that is why the red turned dark. You did a nice job and it shows how beautiful a simple pattern can be. Ken
I just subscribed after you said this was your first “inside out” turning. It came out perfect. I haven’t tried one yet because of the fear of getting the chisel in to far and scaring the heck out of me. I’ll keep watching.
Nice! I’m trying to learn how to make Christmas ornaments, and your video was very informative and enjoyable to watch. Thanks for the instructional audio, instead of just turning. It really helps. Great video, can’t wait to see some of your others. Merry Christmas
Love the video. Had sound down til the very end so maybe I missed it, but how long would you say it takes you, start to finish, to complete this ornament? My skill level is lower, so I’ll be longer making it obviously. What’s a fair time once a guy has made a few? Thank you.
Very nice, your touch on the fennials is fantastic. My first video is an inside out ornament. You now have a new subscriber and I'd appreciate you checking out mine aswell.

Thanks for a fine project. It has given me some motivation to move to inside out ornaments. Thanks
