Your 1st video for me to see - totally impressed by not only your skill & techniques, but also by your video production, topped off by the smooth soundtrack which completed the experience. Have not started turning yet (tho I did a vase form in wood about 50 years ago to mold a copper spinning projuct), I have been learning via these many videos. As a retired jeweler/metalsmith, thought I only wanted to now do larger pieces - bowls, etc., but this may draw me back to smaller sculptural pieces, especially for Christmas. Many Blessings.
Thank you, Jay! I am starting to agree with you there. The two sided designs have a lot of potential for practical items too, like bracelets, pendants, etc... Cheers!
Thanks Kyle! This was a lot of fun and a good concept to challenge the brain. It was interesting to figure out how far to go on the inside in order to get a tapering effect on the profile. I'll definitely be doing more of this! Cheers!
really nice im a sucker for these christmas videos . i love this time of year . you can just feel the magic in the air . this ornament is just part of that . really glad you gave the snow man a top hat cause you know there must have been some magic in that ole silk hat you found . merry christmas my friend merry christmas .
So very pretty. In regards to what I’d like to see you make is any pieces out of the burl or living edge pieces. Thanks for your talent. Don’t stop making videos. I’ve almost finished watching them all!
For your first Christmas ornament, you did a great job. Well done. I wished that laminated ply was available in Australia. I have tried every where but no one stocks it here. I will have to see if I can make my own.
Very cool, never tried an inside out with only 2 pieces, going to definitely have to give this a try. I think I have some laminate pieces in reds that would look great. Thanks for sharing.
Very impressed . I would love to make some of these for my family , only two problems though ,the first being that I only saw your vid .on Xmas eve. And the second being that I must find a source of the timber here in the. U.K. Looking on the bright side , I’ve got twelve months though . Good work , I look forward to seeing more.
The video is perfection, professional quality. The music is so soothing and relaxing I almost fell asleep. The ornament is just wonderful, and so creative. You are awesome, David Adamsen..
Thanks Jeff! The tape is purely to prevent the two pieces from flying apart. To some degree this was superfluous given the even contact from the steb center and the tail stock. It was a safety precaution at least...
Hi David...that was a very relaxed and beautifully filmed video....the ornament and Santa are great...I've been trying to get some coloured plywood but couldn't find any...great job...All the best.....Andy
Take a look at Frogblanks.com and give me know if I can answer any questions cliff@frogblanks.com I am very pleased with the job David did making our material stand out in his project
I think you'll be ok, here's a photo I took this afternoon of some color sample "Pogs" that Cliff turned in October 2018. frogblanks.com/img/2019-12-15%2015.21.33.jpg They have been sitting in my office since then, not in direct sunlight, but not hidden in a drawer either :-)
Beautiful, beautiful, David!!! I think the proportions are spot on...and that nose! Great job. I hope you had a wonderful and very Merry Christmas with your family!
This was a beautiful turning. one of the things I learned from another turner is when using the Yorkshire grit is to use the sanding sealer after the Yorkshire grit . This helps on the overall shine. Just thought I'd let you know. Have a wonderful new year.
Thanks Richard for your comment and feedback! I haven’t heard of sanding sealer being used after sanding grit. In my mind the sanding sealer makes the grain stiff enough to smooth evenly and then a wax or shine process begins. I guess the possibilities are endless though...
That is one beautiful ornament!! Hope it's passed down and enjoyed through generations!
Thanks! I hope so too!

That is the cutest ornament I’ve ever seen, and it’s all handmade. Fantastic work! I love these items you make so effortlessly. Bravo!!
Thank you! At least for me it’s not effortless yet. Perhaps someday it will be!
Lots of good things come from Maine!
Awwww! I love snowmen! :)
Looks absolutely mint 🤩🤩🤩
Love, love. Love the wood. Very beautiful. From the UK.
AAAA the little carrot nose! This piece was just pure love.
Very, very good! Very balanced . Notting too much, Notting less!
Much appreciated!
This one choked me up, it was so beautiful. Great trick turning the two pieces together then flipping them.
Thanks John! I appreciate that! This was a super fun experiment. Cheers!
Great, great piece of Art. Watching you creating those jewels is relaxing. Brilliant!
Thanks again, Carlos! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Never seen a 2 piece in side out turning before. I love it
Thank you! It was an exciting experiment, since the curves influence the opposite side differently with just 2 pieces. Cheers!
Love, love, love the music, watching you create art is so mesmerising to me. Beautiful to watch. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks so much! ✌️
Great David! I don't know whether your talent is woodturning , video production or both. No, I really do.
You are very talented. Thanks, Charlie
Wow, thanks Charlie!
You make such beautiful artwork in wood, thanks for sharing your gifts!
Thank you Karen!
This is a fantastic Xmas ornament
Excellent work, David! Really like the 2 sided ornament vs the more usual 4 sided. And love the way you suspended the snowman in the center.
Thank you, Jay! I am starting to agree with you there. The two sided designs have a lot of potential for practical items too, like bracelets, pendants, etc... Cheers!
I really enjoyed the outside part and love that blank. I could see a large one of these on display on a shelf or mantle
Thanks Kyle! This was a lot of fun and a good concept to challenge the brain. It was interesting to figure out how far to go on the inside in order to get a tapering effect on the profile. I'll definitely be doing more of this! Cheers!
Apart from the incredible work you present to us, the combination with this enchanting music is something fantastic !!!! Well done !!!!

Thanks I love the color wanted to be sure before ordering.
Thanks TJ. That color is actually called Bluebell, not Tardis. My mistake...
TJ take a look at frogblanks.com and give me a shout if I can answer any additional questions cliff@frogblanks.com 🐸

Hey Andy! Thank you so much! Yeah, I had not even heard of frogblanks before, but I'm pretty impressed with the material and options. Cheers!

Thanks Cliff ...I'm in the UK...seems you only do pen blanks over here...nothing the size David was using
Very nice idea
Thanks!
David wat werk je toch sierlijk. Je danst met het hout. Het is als een meditatie. Het is zo prachtig wat je maakt. 👏
Hartelijk bedankt! Je bent zeer vriendelijk. Houtbewerking moet ontspannend en artistiek zijn! Ik ben zo blij dat je ervan hebt genoten!
Very nice. I'm using the same wood and wood from my wood pile to make some ornaments.
Thanks! Very cool and Merry Christmas!
We would like to see pictures when you a finisted cliff@frogblanks.com 🐸
Gorgeous turning simple in design but fantastic in the final ornament. The colors and details are great.👍🏻

Happy newyear to u and your family xxx luv ur vids xx 🏴
Thanks! Happy New Year to you and yours as well!
I love it!
Thank you! Cheers!
Lovely work, David. I wonder how colourfast the plywood is - it would be very sad if those beautiful colours faded after a couple of weeks.
Thanks Robert. That's an interesting point! Time will tell... Cheers!
