    Being very new to the game, I can’t thank you enough for all your videos! I finished classes this past October through PGA Hope for Veterans. Being that I finished the end of October the weather here in Oklahoma hasn’t been conducive for practice 😢
    I look forward not only to spring but more of your content. Thank you so much for your efforts! God bless 🙏

    Hey Matt,
    Your short game practice videos (chipping around the green, changing wedges each time, etc.) have been paramount in reducing my scores (lowest 74) index (8.4). My old hockey hands/wrists/soft hands are everything; if i may add key point, player must eliminate all tension from the hands, arms, shoulders, being relaxed is important which you displayed very well during your video. Another is confidence, which you did mention is everything; if i can do it at practice facility, i can do i on the course.
    To prove my point regarding your Mr.ShortGame info, I practice your techniques at Rickie Fowler's Golf Range three-five days a week. I'm flipping a set of Hogan Tour Series wedges (52, 56, 60) from 35 yards or so when i'm asked about my wedge play. This has happened several times over the summer. Apparently people are watching me practice YOUR DRILLS Matt and are brave enough to approach me and start talking about how I do it.
    Matty, everyone is directed to your youtube channel for details. I give couple tips, ball position being the most common but other than that I shut my mouth and point to you and your channel. I stress the importance of solid fundamentals and watching MrShortGame witll do just that.
    Okay, now I'm off to play Summerly...well maybe not! YIKES that place sucks!!!
    Happy New Year's to you and family!!!
    May the Almighty GOD continue to bless you abundantly.
    ✌ out

    I've been trying Dan Grieve's 3 releases, and bought his short game book. Mr. Short Game has a similar smooth style.

    Totally legit! When I'm drilling this shot, I do it thumbs off the club, to really promote a feather light grip and softness thru the swing.

    I've just gone from a 10° bounce LW to my low bounce LW. Its the height of summer here and to many tight lies. Just can't get any bounce under the ball.

    Bounce doesn’t work so well from hard pan lies the club literally bounces and the result is a thin off the back of the green.

    • @Want0nS0up
      @Want0nS0up 8 месяцев назад

      That is a very good point. I agree. I wonder what sort of technique we could use off hard pan?

      Unfortunately some clubmakers go on arguing in favour of a large bounce even for a 58 or 60 degrees of loft. Pure ideology IMHO.

      @@grandpagolfyeah on my 58 I have 10 but on my full swing wedges I play high bounce like 14

    Great tip. Thank you. I’ve been playing golf for over 40 years with a single digit handicap. However, I’m left handed, throw with my left hand, skip stones with my left hand, but play golf right handed. Would it be worth me “starting all over” and at least try a round with left handed clubs?

    • @saabtech3510
      @saabtech3510 8 месяцев назад

      I would think not. Perhaps go out and skip some stones with your right hand and see if you can develop a feel that way. I would not start over. My 2 cents.

    will this work as well with a sand wedge 56?
    I dont have a 60.
    noticed the guy throwing the rocks goes quickly from supination to pronation in follow thru,is this what creates the spin of ball as well?
    thanks

      52* seems to work with everything for me. I have a 56, never use it. I don't own a 60*.
      I'm 6"1', I can Flop a 15ft shot over my head.
      MSG did a tip one time about rolling the wrist to open the face, instead of laying the wedge flat. That rolling of the wrist was key. It tightens the lead arm, creating a very reliable pendulum.

    Lie dependent and quality of the turf also dictates where to play the ball in your stance. I play at a horse farm where playing the ball forward, and even middle sometimes, on shots like these is a suicide mission. Also, next time you hole a shot how about showing it go in rather than showing you pose for 10 seconds.

    Having me some pretty bad cognitive dissonance here. Freeze frame at 1:57 shows minimal shaft lean, which matches up nicely with the bounce concept. Rob Neal says his measurements showed 16° of forward shaft lean with his study of "finesse" pitches IIRC. You clearly pitch well this way. Any insights?

    • @mntlblok
      @mntlblok 8 месяцев назад

      Hmmm. At 3:58 I get what *may* be a different story. The change in shaft lean *between* these "frames" is not clear, and I now recall that he was using high speed cameras - many more "frames" per second. Maybe *that's* the answer - optical illusions due to "slow" frame rates.

      The period and comma keys advance the video one frame at a time on RUclips.

    • @mntlblok
      @mntlblok 8 месяцев назад

      Ahhh, and then you differentiate between throwing the club "down" and throwing it "forward". Bet those lower ones, thrown forward, have a face meeting the ball at around that 47° angle of which Dr. Neal speaks.
