Osteoporosis compromises your bone strength - increasing your risk of fractures. Heather Hofflich, DO, FACE, Clinical Professor of Medicine, UC San Diego Health System explains how osteoporosis is diagnosed, its secondary causes, as well as treatment and prevention options. Series: "Stein Institute for Research on Aging" [8/2017] [Show ID: 31841]
It is very good to know that prevention, natural remedies in foods/supplements, and exercises, are being taken seriously for osteoporosis now. Also, Fosamax is a very scary RX to be prescribed due to the false bone building and resulting fractures without any real cause. It is good that newer medicines are being examined for a better safety profile. Thank you for your wonderful,i detailed, yet clear and concise, update on this topic. 💕
I'm almost 62 and was diagnosed with Osteoporosis in 2006 I had extreme lower back pain due to my Osteoporosis, I was introduced to Health Herbs Clinic and their Osteoporosis Herbal Protocol. I started on the Osteoporosis Treatment last year, my symptoms gradually diminished including my Lower back pain, my weak bones and even the Receding gums. Reach them at healthherbsclinic , I am Osteoporosis free!
SCAM ALERT!
Gelita released a number of collagen peptides that target bone (Fortibone), cartilage (Fortigel) and tendons (Tendoforte) - all three are combined in ATP’s Jolt. They have successful clinical studies, but don’t seem to be talked about in the medical community.
I am from Illinois and I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 2 yrs ago in May and I have been using Forteo to as of that time. My PA healthy Bone Clinic ordered a Vitamin D lab among other and Medicare would not pay for the Vit D only. My PA doesn't understand why? Would you know?
So the choice is: evidence-based medicine or quackery pushed by true believers? I think I'll go with the doctors., like Dr. Hofflich. My endocrinologist prescribed risedronate sodium (a bisphosphonate), vitamin D supplement, and a calcium supplement. In three years my T-score went from -2.4 to -1.
Do they have an echo light machine ? I was diagnosed last week .
Rebounding and walking is the solution too and taking sun bath
What about vitamin K2?? Does K2 help the calcium get deposited in bones and not in your artrires??
None of the therapies for osteoporosis are without significant risks. Don't just read the manufacturer's leaflets: find and talk to women who have taken these drugs. Stay active, weight bearing exercise, diet can do as much or more without the potentially life threatening side effects.
Alison Addicks not all druds have same level of risk
Am curious what role oxalic acid may play in osteoporosis or low bone density. It is very high in almonds and beets....
it is what it is
people with healthy bonrs are so so lucky. count your blessings

Well said
Disappointed to not hear about treatment.
People do your research people are dying because of osteoporosis medication it's not a good thing I had a doctor tell me that he can't do nothing for you cuz he was quitting the medical profession so he could tell me the truth
Think of all the kids sitting still all the time. Very young men are getting this.
Best things for preventing and Curing osteoporosis are the Hormones Progesterone and Testosterone.
Nandralone also helps if given earlier than when doctors give it [ which is usually when a woman has suffered for 25 years and have arms and legs like broomhandles and are so weak they can barely move]]
2017 update? She certainly does not seem very informed about types of calcium and the absorption level. She was very general about everything except sodas being the culprit. That's not a big news article
She was very specific about the different calcium supplements. What didn’t you understand?
Does sparkling waster have an effect on the bones.
Sparkling water does not have phosphoric acid like colas do so, no, it has no effect on bone health. But make sure your sparkling water doesn’t have artificial sweeteners. Google “UW medicine is sparkling water bad for you” for more information.
Wow oh my god
Anti-Aging, Staying Young, looking younger or just feeling younger is a multimillion dollar industry. There's a really good reason for it.
Well not wanting to have a fracture is not vanity
@@derBreunig- agreed. This person obviously didn’t even bother watching the video.
