I'm 72, Type 2 diabetic, and have neuropathy in both of my feet. Her remarks about feeling like a sock is balled up in my shoes was right on. Her presentation was excellent and informative. Thank you.
I've had peripheral neuropathy for over 10 years and have never heard of rediculopathy. After seeing this video I'm sure I have both. Also I had no idea that you could have neuropathy with just being pre-diabetic. This video is hands down the most informative video that I have come across in all these years of research. Thank you so much!
I was diagnosed with the same thing recently! I don’t have diabetes, but they said I have pre diabetes. The ONLY real help I’ve found is STOP eating food that’s full of sugar. And Carbs turns into sugar once it gets into the system. Thus, I’ve gotten 50% better in one week by leaving sugar alone. I’ve had a sweet tooth for years, but I was in too much pain; therefore, I had to find relief. I’ve ended up in emergency twice, and I felt like checking out of life. I’ve lessened by sugar and carbohydrates by 70% and I’m shocked that I’m 50% better. And I lost a little weight, but I must loose more. Sugar and Carbs are my worst enemy, it might be yours as well! And I take at least 2 Celebrex daily. I’m going to add a supplement named Alpha Lipoic Acid and exercise and I believe I’ll can be happy again!! 😊 And no more wanting to check out!!
@@marjorjorietillman856 Thank you so much for your response and you are correct on all accounts! I was doing really well a few years ago going on low carb and no sugar diet then I got back on the sugar train :( I am just now going back to that diet again... I have always worked out due to being under weight. Totally confused the Dr's around here because I don't fit in their box for having the problems I have. It's frustrating. I tried alpha lipoic acid years ago and will try that again as well. The night pain is just so horrible! I use nervive cream and it helps some as well as homemade arnica oil. Thanks again! It helps to know I'm not alone ;)
After seeing several neurologists and two EMG tests, NOBODY ever told me that I CLEARLY have radiculopathy Respectfully, Dr. Ahlawat, physical therapy did NOTHING for me - and as for staying active, that sounds great and makes a great deal of sense, but when you have, as I do, an unsteady gait, and a fear of falling flat on my face, clearly is not viable (and VERY frustrating). At least for me. You suggest that we just have to live with this, which depresses me no end - but I am most grateful to you for a very informative and enlightening discussion.
I feel the same as you. Physical therapy HURTS! Exercise hurts, too. If I just go out to dinner for a couple of hours I need to spend the next day or two in bed to recover. I have idiopathic large and small fiber neuropathy, plus fibromyalgia. I fell and broke my arm recently and I’m now afraid to go out alone. I’m a prisoner in my home. These neurologists don’t know enough about causes or meds that help. Those EMGs are torture, too. I hope you find something that helps your pain. Some people say marijuana helps, but you have to fund the right strain. This and Advil were suggested to me by the “experts” at UCSF. I couldn’t believe it! So, in other words they had nothing to help me and certainly no cure. But Advil? Did they really think that I hadn’t tried Advil in 15 years? I felt insulted! That was one of the first things I tried. It doesn’t touch neuropathic pain, but not much does. Have you gone to a pain specialist? You should try that; they I can give you some stronger medication, ie. opiates, that will take the edge off the pain. Try marijuana, too, it helps some people. If you have trouble sleeping I suggest Ambien. For some reason Ambien reduces my pain tremendously. If I could take it during the day, I would. I guess because it affects the brain it helps. Good luck🙏🏻🤗
I have neuropathy and radiculopathy, both caused by a compressed nerve in my neck. Only months with the condition. She has made me feel much more relaxed about my condition. I have been stressed about this so much.
I have had PN for 25 year and I'm now 68 years old, it is very severe and the pain is bad all the time. I have to wear shorts because trousers are to painful when they touch my skin. I have seen 7 neurologists of which two were professors. It seams to me science knows a lot about PN but not a lot about what can be done. I am not diabetic and don't drink alcohol, I've had nerve release surgery 2 years ago which made the PN worse. I've noticed if I lift something heavy my feet go into horrific pain and then take some days to settle down. I've tried most drugs but with little effect, the only thing a really recommend is walk miles regularly even in pain it gives me a little relief.
About 20 years ago the bottoms of my feet felt like leather, after a number of examinations, no one was, able to pinpoint the problem, but eventually went away. About a year ago this sensation returned, along with a burning/tingling sensation, with no significantly loss of nerve activity. Lauter I learned about neuropathy and possible solutions. What has worked for me is a Supplement, alpha lapoic acid, 600mg 3x a day, it pays to get a quality one. I no longer have this burning sensation, but still working on my feet and taking the supplement daily. It may or may not work for everyone. I also had an insulin resistance test, and am clean.

So informative, thanks! I’m pre-diabetic and my PCP says my neuropathy is not caused by that. However, my Neurologist said indeed it is. I’ve had EMG/NCV on all 4 extremities and that’s what it showed. It’s nice to hear another specialist say pre diabetes can also cause this. I think many primaries don’t understand this. Diane I recommend watching Beat Diabetes to learn to completely reverse your Pre diabetes with diet alone...by avoiding refined carbohydrates, sugar, fructose, high glycemic foods, like oat meal, all breads made with wheat, rye or oats. Your neuropathy will stop getting worse once you stop the inflamation caused by your diet. Avoid all seed oils. Beat Diabetes and pre diabetes. It is what you eat and drink.
Thank you I have been suffering for quite some time now. And I knew it was nerve damage and you have explained it so well. I’m making an appointment with a neurologist

Very good presentation on this subject! The best so far as of all doctors I have been listening to. It’s amazing how I have had the EMG test and yet I still don’t know what happens with the test. The doctor was very vague in his diagnosis. He hardly talked to me and with some of my questions he was so dismissive with his short answers, and declared the test results were normal. Excellent job explaining all of this. Now I need to find neurologist to figure it all out. I had a laminectomy and cervical infusion done in January 2022 but, I'm still a trainwreck. Thx so much and kind regards.
Very good video! Thank you! You mentioned several issues that I have been dealing with for some time. I have had x-rays and will get an MRI of my spine in two weeks. I will ask my neurologist about the rediculopathy specifically, "foot drop[" and the EMG test. Sounds encouraging! I'd call to make an appointment but I live in the Portland, Oregon area so you are a bit too far away! Thanks again for your very informative video!
Back injury here before I was thirty from heavy lifting. Two lumbar surgeries, feet started to burn, diagnosed neuropathy by neurologist. But surgeon wouldn’t think about continuing back pain, HMO has ignored the spinal stenosis , degeneration. Now cervical issues , thoracic. Meanwhile neuropathy continues into hands. She didn’t mention the “drunken sailor” walking, unsteadiness. Or falling, sometimes right over backwards-- not from diabetes but the damage to spine ,so radiculopathy . 35:28
Thanks I really enjoyed this video. Can I ask can neuropathy be caused by injury? My partner pulled all my toes and fingers and have experienced neuropathic pain in my feet for the past 4 months and my fingers have similar pain.
I suffer with Fibromyalgia chronic disease. My specialist took further tests, I now also suffer with Peripheral Neuropathy. I get hot 🔥burning pains with pins & needles plus some numbness on my legs. My specialist told me the Fibromyalgia has caused me to have Peripheral Neuropathy. I find relief when I put my feet into warm to hot water.....Dam why must things like this happen. I'm also very sensitive to pain. 😪
very awesome , I learnt so much since all my symptom now i felt is more clear now to me by watching your video . Thanks so much for your extensive explanation
Very informative and detailed description! I have controlled burning feet problem through reducing sugar intake, though it was prediabetic only. I Also did cardio and weight training a lot, age 60.
Well expressed. As a Neurologist it was better to say something about Guillain-Barre Syndrome and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy related to this topic.
I have Mortons Neuroma and Ledderhose disease in both feet. So am experiencing slowly worsening neuropathy symptoms. Would seeing a neurologist be of help to me?
Thank you for your nice information cause many people now have this problem i am massage therapist at same time i continue to study physical theraphist.
Thank you for the video! I have the "ball of the foot rolled up sock" type of neuropathy, caused I believe by my multiple myeloma. Do you know of any remedy / treatment for this? Thanks
It feels like I am sitting on a grain of sand if there is even the smallest crumb on my couch or anywhere if my skin touches it. Having anything in my pants pockets will make the nerves on that side go numb. Even the smallest bit of dirt from the gardeners using the blowers and everything kicking back into my apartment annoys the hell out of my feet and I am going to feel it. I can step on a bee and not feel it, I can step on most things and not feel it too well, dirt seems to be the exception. I was born with neurofibromatosis type 1. I have tumors in the nerve roots of my spine. I have been going through a lot of pain since 2007. I have been on gabapentin, amitryptiline, nortriptyline, topicals,, tramadol. Nothing works for me. I take a more holistic approach and it doesn't always work, but I can at least function through the day smoking.
I do too. I've been to every kind of Dr but a Neurologist and after seeing this, this is the kind of dr I should have gone to first. So now, I want to get a referral from my PCP to go see one.
Yep, "D", all of the above. What most people do not realize is that when you cannot feel the bottom of your feet your balance is thrown off, even though they may not be connected in any way, nerve wise. Physical feelings in your feet tell your brain that you have substantial purchased under them, but when you cannot feel that connection you will be constantly afraid of falling or slipping especially in a shower. I have had peripheral Neuropathy for almost 10 years. It took me a while to realize that it was the Statins which were ruining my nerves, so I stopped taking it. I am regaining some feeling now that I have been off Statins for about two years. I even went in for a Diabetes check at the lab. Nope, Diabetes free, so it had to be the Statins. Your nerves will grow back, but it is not an over night process.
I am suffering from paripheri numerology for 6/7 years but pain level has ncreased for the last 6/7 months. What is the lasting remedy to improve quality of life. Is Rebuilder the answer?
@@keshavlaldoshi8568 I understand that English may not be your first language, but "numerology"? Either you are playing mental games with me, or you really do not understand English. All you would have had to do would be to copy and paste the phrase I wrote above. So I believe you are fuquing with me.
@@iam.lalala Not totally, but it is much more bearable and I can actually walk bare footed and not wince at the pain. Just remember, Statins are killers, but just like COVID the drug companies want everyone on something because they make billions of dollars in profits, banking on our gullibility to buy into whatever Big Pharma is selling. Statins are one of their biggest sellers because Americans have been propagandized into accepting their word of its efficacy. When you become responsible for your own health you can get better when you only take what doctors say with a grain of salt because most do no have any idea what they are prescribing other than what they read in the marketing materials. Good luck ! PS: Look into Drugs-dot-com before taking any drug so you know what it is for and its side affects.
A message with virgin Olive oil, takes a bit longer but helps. Wash your feet, dry, apply oil, am or pm, have patience and do the same until you feel ok with your feet.

Thank you for the most thorough explanation of peripheral neuropathy you have explained everything with excellence and I understood you very well. If I lived in your area, I would definitely come see you for my neuropathy. Thank you so much.😊
Excellent Presentation. Very informative.
Excellent job explaining all of this. Now I need to find neurologist to figure it all out. I had a laminectomy and cervical infusion done in January 2022 but, I'm still a trainwreck. Thx so much and kind regards.
How was your laminectomy and where ?
@@jenniferdawson5738 it went fine but, left me paralyzed on my left side! He saved my life though!
@@jenniferdawson5738 had it done in Fairfax, VIRGINIA
@@jenniferdawson5738 it went well but, I'm real weak in my left leg and arm. Tyvm
I really wanted to hear ,um, what she had to say, um, but, um, can't stand ,um, listening to, UM!!!!! What a good speaker!!!
I try to keep moving but can only stay on my feet for a limited amount of time because the pain increases to intolerable levels!
I love this informative video , it’s amazing . Thank you so much .
As usual, diet and exercise are the key to a healthy and long life. Note the lack of words like "cure" and "healing".
Yes
Excellent presentation with great clarity. Thank you,
Thanks once again this is one of the best expianation i ever heard.
Thank you so much...I've enjoyed the discussion& now understand more about neuropathy which i have Very very interesting.
Excellent discussion! You made it plain. Thank you.
I put needles and staples in to rest my shoulders

Thank you dear lady! You are the absolute best I have ever heard. I hope your superiors understand how good you are!!
Very professional and detailed. I wish I could get your treatment. I am from Rochester, NY.
True it's an unique present ion. Thank you so much.
Indeed a very serious problem that I am experiencing. Literally hell
Yes. I appear to have CIDP after getting 2 injections of the Astrazeneca vaccine.
Nice soothing voice and clear explanation of this awfull illness
Profoundly useful for a dear friend of mine. I wish you great success
Pain management is one thing, but what is happening as far as nerve regeneration therapies and why doesn't anyone talk about that?

It drives me nuts I can only get relief when I'm asleep
Same with me
Lucky! You. At lest you can sleep
How does it feels like?@@AliceChavez-xu4xc
Yeah it's pure torture
I agree with you guys...
Looking forward to see more of you words about neuropathy....
Thank you, doctor! I am suffering from pIn all over my body. Very well explained. Now i can recommend to my doctor about this therapies.

Great explanation!!!! I feel better about getting help now!!!! Thank You!!!!!
I do too. I've been to every kind of Dr but a Neurologist and after seeing this, this is the kind of dr I should have gone to first. So now, I want to get a referral from my PCP to go see one.
I think I have Autonomic neuropathy.
Is it gone now?
