Jet City Woman. The song talks about coming home to family after a long road trip. "Jet City" is a nickname for Seattle, the band's hometown. It was written about Geoff Tate 's first wife, who was a flight attendant.
Now it's called 'Tent City'
Geoff Tate's hometown of Tacoma is just as bad!
Ha! Truth…
@Monty Hugo Such a shame to see what has happened to Seattle and the greater Puget Sound area.
My parents came to Seattle from Scotland (via Canada) after serving in WWII for Britain. I was born in Seattle but raised in Ayrshire Scotland 🏴 until I was 12. I've lived mostly in the Seattle area but when I retired we moved to the Skagit Valley.
That's 10-12 years ago and on those rare occasions when we have to go to Seattle for something I am shocked at the sight of homeless encampments where Northgate used to be. Damn shame
I suppose the name referred to Boeing.
I never knew that.
@MONTY HUGO Good one. Every city where democrats have been in power is a $#!+hole.
Singer Geoff Tate wrote this song, or at least the lyrics about his his first wife who was a Flight Attendant so she would be gone for weeks at a time. The song is about being lonely when she was away.
Another great song by them and off of the same album is the song called "Best I Can". Great message in the song as well.
One of the most powerful rock singers ever In history ! Amazing voice !
Saw them live many times. They were amazing. You really had to listen to know they weren't lip-syncing. One of the tightest bands I've seen. Jet City is a nickname for their hometown, Seattle. And they rock. "Another Rainy Night" is a great one also.
Great, moody album. Only got to see them once with Def Leppard in 88. I have a very worn tour shirt still.
My ears are still ringing from seeing them on the Empire tour.
Cool!
@@Dios67 Wow, two of my favorite bands!
Yeah, Another Rainy Night is like a continuation of this song...
"Another Rainy Night" is a great choice from Queensryche... "strange how laughter looks like crying with no sound, raindrops taste like tears... without the pain"
Ah yes, "raindrops taste like tears, without the pain". What an observation! Love that line!
Now your getting into the really good stuff!!! “Empire “ should be your next song!!! And you should do the lyrics!!!
"Jet City" is Seattle which is where the band is from.
Geoff Tate. Stunning man! Stunning voice! Silent Lucidity, is incredible.
Love that song. I’m learning the bass part for it. Eddie Jackson is an amazing bassist.
Queensryche has never been shy about using the bass instrument. Plays such a huge factor in the atmosphere and feeling of their songs.
The production work on Eddie Jackson is fatastic. Always a bit more bass in the songs. Not traditional for rock/metal.
Let's see Seattle is known as Jet City because of Boeing's big presence here and Queensryche is from Seattle so I'm guessing he's singing about his woman back home.
Underrated band....Silent Lucidity is one of their calling cards. Damn I miss the early 90s....
One of my favorite Queensryche songs. Geoff Tate's first wife, who he was dating when he wrote this song, was a flight attendant. When we asked him if the song was about her, he replied, "I guess it is, in a sense."
I like seeing different peoples reaction to discovering the absolute talent of this band. I've known this since 1984. I been lucky enough to have seen them in big arenas with 16,000 fans and seen them in small venues with 200 fans. Loved their music then and now.
This whole album is amazing!!!!! If you really what to hear an amazing voice listen to there song 🎶 “Take Hold of the Flame “ , he study Opera !!!!!!
I love this band! His voice is incredible. So many great songs 💙🎼🎼
Silent Lucidity is a definite listen
Bridge too!
“Take Hold of the Flame” live from Tokyo
Geoff Tate has incredible vocal range. One of the greatest bands ever. Me and my friends head banged to this song, and the many other classics from them.
Thanks for getting around to some Queensryche. This band has some bangers and a unique sound. Please check out an official soundtrack of this because the mix sounded off a bit with this one. Please check out "Another Rainy NIght (Without You)" , "Silent Lucidity", "Empire", and "Best I Can". Thanks again and God Bless. P.S. Please check out another underrated band (Zebra), "Tell Me What You Want' from 1983. Thanks.
Jet City = Seattle. Space Needle and Boeing headquarters! ✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️
Props guys for doing Queensryche............"Silent Lucidity" was their claim to the Chart success they had, this is off the same album...which double platinum in the US alone.....Great talent
I've been waiting for someone to react to this. Probably my favorite QR song. 🎵
Another great Seattle band. Geoff was so beautiful, like his voice.
Finally! My favorite band! I met the whole band years ago when I was lucky enough to get all acces passes. They signed my guitar! Do Road to Madness! Really shows his voice!
Roads to Madness is a classic epic and that whole album, The Warning, is FIRE!
Yes! Do Roads to Madness!
My favorite Queensryche….one of the most underrated bands in history.
Asia and BJ, if you love Pantera well you’re in for a treat. Pantera announced yesterday that they have reunited and do 2023 tours so if you want to go see them. Get the tickets to have your first Pantera concert.
That's a bop! top shelf singer
Rockin' out! Great to see you folks enjoying the best hard rock of the 90's!
I saw Queensryche live in 85, they opened for KISS. I have been a fan since
Queensryche’s home town, Seattle, has the nickname “Jet City”. The song is about “him” being on the road and missing home. His wife was indeed a flight attendant but that is not what the song is about. I’m
such a powerful sound from queensryche
You wanna see amazing live singing? Queensryche: Take hold of the flame. It's a song of hope.
❤️❤️❤️Geoff Tate’s voice is awesome!!! Check out the song Empire!! It’s great
Queensryche: Anybody Listening
I travel for work and my wife is a flight attendant. She is my Jet City Woman!
You gotta do Silent lucidity by queensryche! It will blow you away how beautiful and different it is from most of their songs! Trust me you'll love it!!!
Love me some Geoff Tate vocals!
I saw Queensryche open for KISS, on the Animalize tour in '85. This was before they made the big time, but they were still very impressive.
Even though this song isn't a prog rock/prog metal song, Queensryche is considered one of the 3 big fathers of the progressive metal genre, along with Dream Theater and Fates Warning, although both 'ryche and DT have credited Fates Warning as beating them to it. "Point of View" by Fates Warning would be a great follow-up to "Jet City Woman".
The band is from Bellevue. ...but, yes-"Jet City" is one of Seattle's nicknames(Emerald City, Rat City, Moss Town)....
This guy can sssiiinggg.🥰
Yeeeesssa!
Really cool reaction!
One of the greats yes!
Empire that’s a song
Has a story of truth 😎🎶✌️
That was really sweet. I dedicated this song to my GF when it was a new song, in my late teens. :)
Ex-Queensryche singer Geoff Tate wrote the song about his first wife Susan... he would be on tour w/ Queensryche, and at the end of the run, he would fly home to Seattle where she would pick him up at the airport. So after all the travelling, she was his 'Jet city woman'... the one waiting for him at the end of his travels.
Sadly, she & Geoff divorced in the 90's... Geoff Tate wrote very dark, sad lyrics for Queensryche's 1994 album 'Promised land' after they had separated... he remarried quickly, coincidentally his current wife's name is also Susan.
Saw them live in Detroit just before moving to Orlando . One of the best concerts I ever went to in all my years…
Please please react to the official video for Silent Lucidity…..🔥🔥🔥🔥
If this is the first QR song you've heard, You're only at the tip of the iceberg. Truly one of the best metal bands ever created. Their first six albums (EP through Promised Land) are GOLD. Definitely a rabbit hole you should go down.
FINALLY...Somebody did this bands BEST song I been begging for. IMO lol...yall ROCK!!!!...and BJ stopped the solo...WATER TOWERED LOL
Geoff Tate's singing is kind of like the prelude to grunge, with the band leaning more into theatrical metal instead of punk metal. Lots of great voices in Seattle around that time.
Ok, when I first heard this song back in the day I thought he was saying “chicks in a porn mag”.
And even now knowing he’s saying jet city woman I can still here it lol
Yes, Seattle is the "Jet City" just like new York is the big apple. All the guys are from Seattle. Love you guys
gotta love a good metal love song!! A fave for sure. Geoff and Chris DeGarmo wrote this one. There is one other one by them, a not obvious one called Bridge that is underrated and fantastic. My fave song by them is Take Hold of the Flame.
Jet City is a reference to their hometown of Seattle
Seattle is well know for jets because of Boeings airlines Seattle's referred to as the jet city in the video it also shows pike st Market and the famous ⏰️ clock associated with pike place market downtown Seattle video shows the skyline of Seattle all throughout the video jet city women' is about Seattle's women 👌
They build jets in Seattle area and some refer to Seattle as the jet city plus that’s where they are from.. My X use to be there Secretary in the late 70s in Bellevue Wa, Thanks for the memories. Cheers 🥂
Thanks for the info
I love Jet City Woman. If you want to hear a guitar solo listen to Queensrych I don't believe in love.
Seattle is known as Jet City.
Queensryche is a awesome band
I'm a patron on "Harri's best Reactions". I requested for him to react to Jet City Woman and he did, He liked it but the views and likes were minimal. On the flip side, songs that pale to this one get many more views and likes. Not here, though. The views and likes are worthy of this great song!
This BAND has had a LOT of big hits ! But, this , by far is my song form these guys !
Jet City is Seattle’s nickname because Boeing is based there.
Jet city is a nickname for Seattle where they are from. It got that nickname because the Boeing headquarters started in Seattle.
Geoff don't get mentioned enough when Great singer of rock is the topic....!
I was one of the lucky 200 people to be at their first show ever. React to the whole album Operation Mind Crime in one reaction. It’s a ride you will love more than once. Congratulations on 200k 👍
Saw Tate live twice in the last 10 years for operation mindcrime , he still sounds the same live
The power of Geoff Tates voice and the tone of the guitars is intoxicating. Take hold of the Flame will really give you an idea of the power of his voice.
Love Queensryche! This is a good one! “Silent Lucidity” is a favorite of mine.
To understand this song you must listen to the whole album start to finish the album is a story you will notice each song blends into the next song... That is one thing cool about the albums more then just a song the album tells a whole story just like they're past albums
The Thin Line,
Jet City Woman & Della Brown, make a trifecta.
All i have to say is "Silent Lucidity" Official video if possible please!!
Love these guys, Take hold of the flame and Empire are great, Silent Lucidity was likely there most famous tune , but you should do the video and live version if you can.
Seattle is known as Jet City and Queensryche is from Seattle.
Yes, Take Hold of the Flame Live in Tokyo 1984. That performance is hair raising, especially Geoff Tate on vocals. One of the best bands of the 80s but NOT Hair Metal. They were an awesome hard rock band with both metal and prog elements that produced a series of great albums in the 80s & 90s. They also have one of the great concept albums ever in Operation Mindcrime. Enjoy! 🎸
Road to madness.
YES! Awesome song, epic just like that album.
Really great job guys. Awsome
Hope you check out the song Empire from the same titled album. The song definitely tells a story.
Y'all have to check out thier song, I Don't Believe in Love. Great song.
Just keep on rollin' into "Della Brown".....the whole album kicks ass.
Asia, BJ....Great reaction as always. What do ya think? Time for more of The Rolling Stones? I got two great suggestions I'm sure you'll both love.
(Beast of Burden) (Honky Tonk Women)
Trust Me!
Awesome voice!! Need to listen to take hold of the flame live from Tokyo..
Queensryche is one of the best 80s bands period you should find out yourselves.......future enjoyment.
If you really want to hear the power I Geoff voice you really need to check out the song Road to Madness. You can really feel the power he brings to this song!
Jet city is Seattle, home of Boeing and Queensryche. Used to be the home of the NBA Supersonics (Sonics).
Need to do the song after this one "Della Brown", some serious Bass riff's in it, not to mention the guitar solo!
Great song. The MTV unplugged version is incredible. Both versions are fantastic.
Silent Lucidity A MUST Its about a young girl being comforted from a bad dream
Geoff Tate is the bomb. Powerful range and tone. Queensryche is a band you need to do more of "Empire" "Take Ahold of the Flame live in Tokyo" "Silent Lucidity". And my personal fav : I Don't Beleive in Love". Operation Mindcrime the whole album. Brilliant concept album.
Top 3 favorite band of mine for sure
If you haven't already. Do yourselves a favor and listen to
Take hold of the flame live from Tokyo.
It's a masterclass.
Listen to "The Thin Red Line" off this CD.. but if you listen to anything from this band you can't go wrong.. everything is great for the ears..the Geoff Tate/Chris DeGarmo Queensryche era are the best song writing group of All Time...yeah I said it😁
The Thin Line is Queensryche. David Lee Roth in Unchained by Van Halen, says, "Here's to your thin red line...". LoL 😂
Yes, Queensryche's is titled "THE THIN LINE". ☺️
Such a great song!!
Jet city is Seattle Washington because of a major Aircraft assembly plant there.
Jet city refers to Seattle where he’s from.
Jet City refers to Seattle. So it's his woman at home in Seattle
watch the official video for this song also check out their videos another rainy night, i dont believe in you, empire, anybody listenting
Geoff Tate was 🔥🔥!! He was a great front man
Queensryche and Nickelback! You did good today, well played.
Thank you! 😃
One of my favorite band, "rage for order" and "operation mindcrime" are my favorite albums, the music and vocals are just perfect!
Great reaction. "Anybody Listening" on this same album is a masterpiece along with "Silent Lucidity". Someone commented about "Take Hold of the Flame" live in Tokyo and that's one of the best live performances along with Journeys "Mother Father" live in Houston.
EMPIRE!!!
Definitely check out the original video for this song.
My second favorite band only behind the mighty Rush. Haven't bothered with any of their stuff since the band split, but their classic records are stellar. Coming from a drummer perspective, I've always though Scott Rockenfield is one of the most underrated drummers around. Heavily influenced by Neil Peart himself. lol
Seattle was once called jet city” because of the boeing airplanes being built here.
Queensrÿche - Silent Lucidity
