I can't hear this song without thinking of Supernatural show. This song is the intro to each season's premiere and really gets you geared for a new season of Sam and Dean Winchester.
I was waiting for a supernatural fan to comment😄I was itching to but the song is just great on its own too. SPN did make this song big again though.
My people! ❤️🥺
saving people, hunting things the family business
and now hearing it hurts cause it's all over
SPN family in the house!!
"if i claim to be a wise man it surely means that i don't know" one of the most under appreciated lyrics in music...
Socratic paradox . . .
It's Legendary
Underappreciated by whom? I’m sick of pretentious wankers thinking they can speak for everybody.
We aren't wise. We were all born sinners. The powers that be are unknown.
Preach! So true.
This is one of the best rock songs ever made. Hands down.
Kansas was something all their own. Loved them. I just love that your generation is listening and giving the music my generation listened to a chance. There are so many groups from then, unique and great I hope you enjoy and find more out there you like. So far I like what you have been reacting to, and your reactions are so genuine. Love your smiling faces and reactions to all the older music.
The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were a veritable cornucopia of musical styles and genres delivered by so many talented artists and groups!
We were spoiled. 👍
Was my fathers generation but I wish I had that, they all got to drive my dream cars and hangout before social media......I remember house phones and cruisin for the party. You hate music if you cant vibe to some of the 70's music
@@damion4301
My granddaughter says she wishes she'd grown up then. She always talks with me about the 60's-70's. I think she's an old soul and maybe lived back then.
Late 60's to early 80s it just does not get any better and I doubt it ever will.
Listening to the very same radio station you might hear this Kansas song and then Alice Cooper the next and then the Carpenters, The Beatles, AC DC, Molly Hatchet.
It was just a never-ending mix of different creative genres most of which were outstanding!
I think of all the music from that era that is almost lost to time from this generation like Atlanta Rhythm Section, Rare Earth, The Outlaws, Brownsville Station, Pure Prairie League, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, the older J geils Band. The list just goes on and on of bands that are almost forgotten.
THIS WAS 1977 THE 70s BABY
The absolute best music from the 70’s. Rock was pure, raw talent. No auto tune … just multi talented humans loving what they do. 🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kansas-"Dust in the Wind" another very nice cool song you can try. You gotta do Hall & Oates-"Sara Smile" !! You started the Hall & Oates ride & skipped by Sara Smile...you must hear Sara Smile. Soooooo nice. It`s called Blue Eyed Soul!! :)
Kansas is one of the most influential bands of their time… their songs always touched my soul…… the lyrics of this song certainly have a ton of reference in the Bible
Also notice the Christian influence in some of their other songs like "The Wall" and "Windows".
The song is a Kansas Masterpiece. Everything sound easy but is so complex. Even the drumming, which is my preferred instument..You would not think it is difficult but he has so many different changes that you almost need a map just to place yourself as to what comes next.
I had to sing co lead while playing bass! This song is damn near impossible ❤😢
The parts within the song are so different and yet so obviously follows each others so somehow albeit it sounds difficult, it is easy to follow. Miraculous. And outstanding.
Supernatural. Forever synonymous with each other.
I saw them in concert about 1979 and they had the audience take a pledge we would never let Rock die during our lifetimes. You are responsible for helping bring it back! Thank You Asia and BJ! Your both really cool!
Rock On my friend. ✌🏻
this is one of the ultimate all time classic hits
the TV show "Supernatural" - use this song thru out the 15yrs it was on - one of my favorite songs to listen to during the week - I remember when it 1st came out in 76, I was 15yrs old
I was 1 lol, but I grew up hearing this and awesome shit like it on the radio and the records my parents owned. it's still amazing 45 years later
It's a classic rock masterpiece.
The 70s were a BLAST Heres proof
RUSH then Kansas. Ya'll are on a roll. Time to hit YES doing Roundabout.
This - ruclips.net/video/NGwZ_BSibBw/видео.html
Roundabout 😍
Absolutely!
Yes!! Bring on the prog. rock!
You just listensed to what was, and is still considered one of the worlds superbands in the league with Pink Floyd, The Who, Rush, Yes etc, etc during a period in music history that sadly is pretty much over. No, not saying there isn't some insanely amazing groups out there now, but these bands are set apart in ways not matched of late. Listen to Dust In The Wind by Kansas if you haven't already
ah, you sound enthusiastic, but to compare Kansas to Pink Floyd, or the Who is a stretch. Pink Floyd has been expanding human consciousness for over 50 years. The Who is in a league of their own. Most people can only name 2 Kansas songs, while most EVERYONE can recite the entire Dark Side of the Moon album.
There’s lots of talented musicians out there today , but there is a severe shortage of original sounds, song writing ability and great lyrics. The 70s had all of that, from progressive , hard rock , California sound, etc.
@@roguealien I don't think it's a stretch for THAT song - it's an opus of great epic rock that deserves to be in those company. The difference is Queen and Pink Floyd has MANY such songs.
@@roguealien Yeah, think this guy got a little carried away.
No doubt all these bands mentioned are great. No band has captured my obsession since the 70's. Until now. Try Band-Maid for great fun Rock music again.
My favorite song of all time! Spiritual meanings to the lyrics and powerful instrumentals really reaches down and grabs my soul!
Kansas were among the originators of Progressive Rock! Song was released in 1976.
There is no other band like them. I saw Kansas live in 1980. They are one of my all-time favorite bands! 🤘
Well, not exactly....ELP, Yes, King Crimson, Genesis...these guys were the originators
@@corkydukeII5898 Gentle Giant as well
@@corkydukeII5898 There are few more bands who were also originators. Kansas and Rush are two. Cheers! 🍻
Why the fog out of the screen ?
I remember when Kansas came out. Was glad that finally there was a bona fide prog band from the US.
As you are finding out, the 1970’s and 80’s were full of brilliant, talented, creative, unique rock bands. Compared to the boring music of today, I almost can’t believe there were so many at the same time.
Everytime I hear this song I start looking for "the road so far" from Supernatural...lol So miss that show!!
But this is a great song. My mom raised me on classic rock and I have such a love for music because of her! Sad to say that now the music I listened to in my teen years is now on the classic rock station...well they've been there for a few years now. One thing I've learned from getting older is I'm more like my mom then I thought, she use to say my music wasn't any good and now I feel that way...lol I only had to say that to my youngest son (rap) because my oldest son listened to rock/metal music like me and my mom(she just didn't like the "rock" I listened to. She said that none of the music I listened to would last. She honestly said that Metallica would never be like the Stones, they couldn't last that long...sadly she passed before I could say look at the music you said wouldn't last!!
saving people, hunting things the family business
Steve Walsh - one of the most under-rated lead singers ever. There’s a reason bar bands avoid Kansas. Few can handle the vocals. Add literally master musicians and you have Kansas.
100% agree.....
He's one of my favorite singers! The way he and Robby Steinhardt harmonize is unreal. I love how different their voices are!
Additionally, Walsh is one of the most under-rated keyboardist of our time. When you watch what he can do, especially on songs like "The Spider" you almost wish that he could have worked on a project with EVH.
@@davidwalls4608, I'd kill to hear a project like that! Two of my favorite musicians playing together?! Sadly, Eddie's been gone for over a year though. Ever since I heard Kansas' first album, I've always wondered if the beginning of "The Pilgrimage" inspired the main riff throughout and vocal melody in the chorus of "Feel Your Love Tonight."
No truer words spoken. His vocals are unique and very difficult to do. You hit the nail on the head as to why many bar bands leave their music alone and for another day.
When my boys were little they heard this song and thought they were singing Carry on my Waitword son (our last name). I can’t un-hear it now. This is also the unofficial theme song to the show Supernatural.
Oooooh on FIRE!!!!!....BOSTON is like this, its time yall do some BOSTON
Great reaction. As someone else commented, those of us who grew up in the 70's and 80's were spoiled by all of the great music and bands. Love to see the younger generation experience the music we grew up with.
One of the GOATS! Very unique music, lots of tempo changes
Man I was so lucky to grow up with all this amazing music playing daily on the radio waves and going to the live concerts. 70s-8Os kids forever!🔥❤️
As a veteran of 1010 concerts in my lifetime, it's safe too say I've seen just about every band live from ABBA to Zappa and most in between.
Kansas 1976/1977 "Left Overture" tour, the album this song is from, is still in my top 5 shows in my concert going career. Simply a flawless and near perfect reproduction of their studio sound.
I wish I was able…I think concerts would be way cooler “back in the day” (as my kids call me geizer) 1985 baby…
Kansas was an American prog rock band that alluded to biblical scripture in many of their songs. "Carry On..." being one example. They were huge, hit-makers from the mid-'70s through early/mid- '80s. Great observation, reaction, and commentary.
Amazes me when people won't leave the music they grew up on because finding new genres and hearing stories of life, love, death, sorrow, struggle in different musical mediums can be life changing.
another great song by them you should check out is Dust In The Wind. the song is from the 70s
Kansas, one of the greatest bands of the 20th century. Their music is going to be cherished and celebrated many, many years to come.
It is also the unofficial theme song of the tv show "Supernatural".
I saw this group a little over a decade ago at an ampitheater in Georgia. I love their music. Dust in the wind is one of my all time favs of theirs🧡 man I've been so blessed to have grown up on some of the best music ever made🤘🌝🧡🧡🧡💯🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
BTW when I saw them in Atlanta man they didn't miss a harmony or beat they sounded just as fire as day 1 y'all without the studio frfr🧡🧡
1976
You two have the best intro to your videos! whoever is singing has an absolute gorgeous voice! Amazing! Asia & BJ just killing it!💯🙏 #1 on you tube!
That is Asia singing! Thank you! Check out the rest of my music on Spotify - open.spotify.com/artist/1ovO55EOqBsABPiK5VX8Bf?si=YZH2UjN5Ra2dFKQv4vbAtA&dl_branch=1
Most reactors I’ve learned have musical backgrounds ❤
The guy with all the hair, singing the harmonies, is Robbie Steinhardt (R.I.P) who was also a classically-trained violinist. Check out his violin skills on "Dust in the Wind". "Kansas" is a very deep rabbit hole. I also recommend these songs, "Song for America", "Icarus (Borne on Wings of Steel)", "The Wall", "Point of Know Return", and "Child of Innocence".
Magnum opus, too
"Portrait He Knew"
Add to those "Miracles out of Nowhere"
This is another classic that’s been a top song since they wrote it. Back in the day, this was constantly on the radio. Some of the songs you are finding out about now were played over and over on the radio. There were about 50 or so songs that you could guarantee you would hear on the radio at any given time. Leave the radio on for a while and one of them would ALWAYS come up. That’s how it was for YEARS.
All time classic. The lyrics are actually very spiritual.
Saw Kansas in the 70's , Masque, Left Overture, Point of No Return and all that. Damn, they were awesome! Their double live album is second to none!
Just another band from the 70’s....so many great bands from the seventies Kansas was just another great band among many great bands from the 70’s
Let me get this straight.....they were from the 70's right?
The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves spoiled us!
@@andrewpetik2034 , yep...now as a older fella when I hear songs from these great bands I’m 18 again...in my mind😄
Just another? They didn’t have to steal their music like Zeppelin
This entire album was perfect, not a bad track on it
Emerson, Lake and Palmer - amazing keyboard playing in concert.
Their live album is one of the best recordings I've heard - you can hear a pin drop during it.
Thats what you call Quadrotasking.Killer lead vocals, backup vocals ,keyboard, and congos .Excellent production. What a talent these guys have.
Check out Kansas "Dust in the wind".The hair cannot be denied.
You guys just have no idea how much joy you bring to this ol' white lady!!!
I can't git enough of Asia's smile---and the whole time the vid was on, BJ was so intense, concentrating, not wanting to miss one little thing!!! I love that you guys really genuinely appreciate all genres!!!
Oh, happy day!!!! ❤
Robby Steinhardt, the band’s violin player and the dude with the insane mane and beard passed away last July.
Rest In Peace Robby
Oh yeah, Kansas is one of my favorite bands!
AMEN TO ROBBY,he was the backup for steve and the lead in DOWN THE ROAD,UNREAL TALENT,GOD REST HIS SOUL
@@strattuner I also loved his vocals
This song and dust in the wind by them will never die out . Perfect upbeat songs 🎵
One of my favorite all time songs Its also prominent on one of my all time favorite tv shows
Song was used in ending of Supernatural
Season 15
Great Feedback !!!!!!!!! Keep doing your thing for us. Asia your smile is contagious....... RESPECTFULLY showing my appreciation.
In 2015 while visiting Clearwater Fla, I won an autographed guitar and backstage passes from Kansas.
Bad ass concert!
Great song!!!!
I'm a drummer in a classic rock band (70's-80's) and we start the night off with this song, and set the tone for the night... 😎
Hey, since you're a drummer are you hip to Aron Mellergård with Dirty Loops? If not, he's absolutely top notch! He has a 2 1/2 min fire drum solo in Work Shit Out. The whole trio is awesome and they're managed by Quincy Jones! Cheers
@@brewswillis9783 yeah, I dig a lot of what he does. Seen almost every dirty loops video. Thomas Lang, Chris Coleman, Luke Holland, Mike Portnoy .... 😎
one of the TV series "The Supernatural" music
This is one of my favorite Kansas tune!
Lovr this song is always a reminder to supernatural
Thanks for the attention given to an incredible American band who still has been snubbed for whatever crazed reasons by the RRHOF. Carry On became for some time the most played classic rock song on the radio; eclipsing Stairway To Heaven.
RIP to Robbie Steinhardt, violin player.
Kansas's music helped me through some tough times. Steve Walsh was as great a front man as ever was. If I don't stop now, I'll be writing all day. Kansas Forever!
I'm tearing up with Supernatural feels
check out their surprise performance at the Supernatural con
'70s music was known for intense harmony. and hair
Agreed. This song will always remind me of Supernatural.
An incredible, Classic ROCK song. Brilliant! 💯
One of my Favorite Bands and an Iconic Rock Song.🔥💯
They also have a few songs that can almost be classified as progressive rock. Great band and great musicians. The lead singer and keyboardists is very energetic. Saw them a bunch of times.
To think that this is real instrumentalism. So different from today's computerized, mapped-out sound. I love it
Limits inspire creativity
as a young drummer in the 70's a favorite to play to. Yes I will say it, kids today have no idea what they missed.
My oldest son died at 20 and this song always brings back memories of him, because it was the only song he taught me to play with him on guitar hero, he taught me the bass on it he played lead. Good times and loads of laughs.
Food for thought... This album came out within months of Boston's debut album release. SO lucky to have been young and truly alive at the time. The radio pumped all the goodies straight to our brains.
Great video 👍 Steve Walsh is a tremendous singer that doesn't get enough credit. 🔥
If you want to get that same kind of sound listen to Electric Light Orchestra or Styx
My first album I ever purchased, I was 12 and used my paper route money. Kansas Left Overchure (their fourth) with this song as the big hit single.
Have to tell you: "Leftoveture" was about their 4th album...
@@michaelmills5972 thanks for correcting me I'll edit
Spiritual song. Kerry Livgren was on a spiritual quest at the time.
This song was used extensively in the tv horror show SUPERNATURAL with the brothers Sam and Dean Winchester
Point of Know Return is another rocker by Kansas!
Miss Sam and Dean! This song will be forever link to that TV show forever!
And which season recap you like the best version of Carry on wayward son.
And if you know what I am talking about and how it’s related to this song please give me a thumbs up.
Have you ever react to the Japanese band name Scandal? If not you should check this band out.
Also check out Lovebites and Band-maid too!
All I can say, especially being a drummer, is I was BLESSED to have been born in '66; I got to grow up listening to & playing along with this stuff.
Here's all you need to know about Kansas.... When they first started out, they were holding a lot of free shows. They heard through the grape vine that a record executive was coming to a show to scout them. They pooled their $$$ and supplied the crowd at that show with free beer to make sure the crowd was loud and rowdy. They were signed based on that show!!!
Because a record executive would have to be fooled to recognize talent like this. ; )
I was at one of those free shows in Ellinwood Kansas and they did give away free beer and they were also known as white clover then
Free beer is my kinda beer.
Though wonder what the brand was? Anybody there know? Or were you too sloshed to remember?
I want to say it was Geffen that signed them (correct me if I'm wrong) & he took a chance on them because they were great, but he had a love for the fiddle player. He thought he just made the band better.
One thing I've noticed about this girl listening to rock bands, SHE LIGHTS UP LIKE A ROMAN CANDLE WHEN THE GUITARS DO THEIR THING!! FANTASTIC SMILE!!!!
I love your Queen comparison, they're like a Midwestern Queen in a lot of ways. Very rock opera style, but with those midwestern jazz and blues flourishes.
That is what you call musicianship!!! Excellent Reaction you guys!!! 🤘
One of the best lines ever. Now your life is no longer empty , surely heaven waits for you .
I also love Kansas’ “The Wall.” RIP to Robbie. These guys were my childhood...
Child of the 70's here now 56 yrs old. I can tell you I still sing this song at the top of my lungs when driving. Defiantly a stone groove and it's funny every time you think the song was going to end, they bust out yet another guitar solo. hahaha
I think it’s required to sing along.
Kansas was, still is a great band. they still tour with two of the original members, they still rock! mid 70s….
In my top 10 rock songs of all time!
Dust In the Wind is one of the most beautiful rock ballads ever by them !😊
He was playing Congas.
As others have said Dust in the Wind is the next place to go and was their other megahit but other great songs of theirs include Point of No Return, Miracles Out of Nowhere and People of the South Wind.
This was my band back in the late 70's early 80's saw them many times in concert! Love this band and this song!
Another flashback to Highschool!!! I love good music!!!👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
1976! Love this song so much ❤ and love Dean & Sam playing it on Supernatural! Loved watching this with ya'll and love how ya'll appreciate the music we grew up with every day on the radio in Jr high & high school. Man, those memories ❤❤ Thank youuuu!! 😘😘
A time when so much great music like this was coming out continually we just expected it to last forever. Thankfully we still have it to fill our days and night now when music no longer resembles what it once was.
LOL The way you say "It's your girl Asia" and really draw it out is hilarious and beautiful.
I recommend Kansas - Dust in the wind , Point of no return & what’s on my mind.
One of the very best debut albums by any rock group ever. In my opinion one of the 10 best songs of the 70's. My first album I ever bought with my money and actually walked two miles to the record store to only buy this then RAN home and played it for hrs. none stop.
That's the wonderful think about "prog rock" from this era. Although you can note the influences of the various bands, there's never any confusion as to who you're listening to. Genesis doesn't sound like Yes doesn't sound like Kansas doesn't sound like Rush doesn't sound like Pink Floyd, even though they all share a genre whose primary theme is uniqueness of sound.
I wanted to let them know that that song was recorded in my hometown of Bogalusa Louisiana about 2 miles from my home. I heard that song IN the studio right before it was released on a class field trip. They recorded 2 albums here including Leftoverture and Masqe before that. Knowing these 2 live in N.O. which is an hour drive from here. Met song writer of the song Kerry Livgren at the poolside of the hotel they stayed at as well. This was right before their careers took off, obviously! ❤😊😊
I loved Kansas! I swear the 70's and 80's had the best ever music!
I Heard of the song but i've never actually heard it until a few weeks ago and they were jamming
My son dedicated this son to his son he lost on December 9,2020 still born. His name was Jensen. He is a super fan of supernatural
Sorry for the loss ❤music always fits in almost all situations
Sometimes this song activates in my memory and nostalgia kicks in and I have to then find this song and play it. Indeed Asia us one of the best rock grunge bands ever. Super tight. Triumph is another one of those magical 70s rock bands as well
One of the best songs of the 70s, Kansas was one of my favourites
It's 1979 - I'm going round and round the skating rink with this song BLARING over the speakers. Great times.
love this band whole live ...
Classic 70's rock and roll...what this old man grew up with. Kansas, from Kansas...
Getting to be a teen in the 70's when all these great rock bands were producing masterpieces of music that would last decades was one of the luckiest aspects of my life.
Love this song. It’s definitely on my playlist
Oh yeah...several other people mentioned "Dust in the Wind" by these guys as well. YES!!! You will LOVE that song too!!
