Classic Trac, rock on.
See you just improvised like a marine and that's proof that you're the cream of the crop when it comes to music 👍❤️
No problem, this song was long, long ago the first song of KANSAS I listened to and siince that time, it is still my favorite one of this awesome US rock band.
Huh huh I know them so well, I can picture everything you're seeing, just as you're seeing it. 😊 6:01 that surprise on your face was awesome. #progrock
IM a huge 70s fan please check the song , Hold the line by Toto from 1978,You will cave it and put it on your play list I PROMISE take care pretty lady
To all my supernatural friends you all know how much this song means to us I can see dean driving his impala
He'll yea
Supernatural in the house
Opening song to every new season. Rise and shine Sammy. The car itself was a character
Fuck the odds, Team Free Will
@@davidward9737You mean the opening song of the last episode of every season. Always got the "oh this is gonna be good!"-vibe from it.
Another beautiful song is dust in the wind
My favorite!
Steve Walsh had one of the most perfect voices for rock and roll ever. Right up there along with Brad Delp of Boston. Peace!
Definitely- and Paul Rodgers and Freddy Mercury and Robert Plant to name a few more.
Agree with both your statements. To add two more names to the list of elite rock n roll vocalists: Rik Emmett and of course Steve Perry!
@@musicloverchiefsfan5410 Rik Emmet is so overlooked. He's definitely one of my favorite. I was lucky to see Triumph live. Of all the concerts I've seen, (a lot) Rik is one of the few vocalists that consistently could hit every note live. Thanks for mentioning him.
@@williamh4172 I've never seen him (or Triumph) live, I'll bet that's a great concert!
Rik is incredibly talented (vocalist and guitarist) and his name is too often unmentioned. He deserves it!
Fact brother
To me, Kansas is like The Eagles. They were meant to be together. Both bands have such amazing harmony and chemistry.
And Boston ... Possibly Blue oyster cult ?
Quintessential quality Americana rock... 🎤😎👍🏼🧙🏼♂️🇬🇧
Eagles didn’t have chemistry except musically. It was ultimately a business for them
Styx
And both formed in the 1970s like so many others
You could literally throw Journey into the mix as well...🤘👽🤘
Kansas is so fantastic. “Point of Know Return,” “Dust In The Wind,” “Song For America,” “Closet Chronicles,” “People of The South Wind,” “He Knew,” “Back Door,” and possibly the saddest song ever; “Nobody’s Home.” That’s a start.
Oh man, those are all so good! Ahhh, "Nobody's Home", love it. I need to get out all my old Kansas records now!
Add The Wall to that list.
Miracles out of Nowhere, Journey from Mariabronn, The Pinnacle
Play The Game Tonight is another of my favorites by them!
Dream Voice to 1970s Steve Walsh: "Your singing will capture the heart of a beautiful lady from 2024!"
1970s Walsh: "What a strange dream I just had..."
The 70's is my decade for music! So much real talent around at that time.
I absolutely agree💯%
today there still is hell of a lot of real talent. the problem is everything is shit flooded with all this exchangable garbage.
@@j.w.2166 Yes you are right , now anyone who can afford the software can make quality recordings of mediocre music at best at home. Then flood the music platforms with sub par music.
@@rogerdaly6326 like all this pathetic excuse for rap music they are pumping out now, it's not anywhere near as good as it used to be. Now all they sing(talk) about is bitches, guns and being wannabe gangsta's... Its All Total bullshit!
You NAILED IT the 70s Rocked like a someamabitch
"This sounds like the musical equivalent of 'Never let them know your next move'" is the best description of this song I've ever heard 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Agree! This one is a mind bender. :)
So true. As soon as she said it, I thought along the same lines as you posted.
100%
I feel like that when Metallica first came out because their songs were more like compositional pieces.
Love this song! "Dust In The Wind" is great from Kansas!.....God any other bands from these times WOW that will be a very long list Aileen!
This is from the "Leftoverture" album, which is a masterpiece.
Other bands from this era worth checking out are: Boston, Chicago, Eagles, Journey.......
Boston and Chicago, she's gonna melt
ELO
I agree about the "Leftoverture" album! When it came out I played my 8 track of it so much I literally burned it up. It was okay though I have the vinyl as well!
Head East!
Don't forget STYX, and some solo singers like Jim Croce, James Taylor, John Denver. What a great time to be a kid.
Welcome to Progressive (Prog) Rock!! Time signature changes, and amazing musicianship abound.
4:57 "tight and precise" That's the way they were in concert, too.
Yes they were saw them in Pittsburgh in the stone age.
Yes. Saw them back in the 90's, and even then they put on an amazing show!
Steve Walsh was the best rock vocalist of the 70s
"Don't let them know your next move" Welcome to the weird world of ProgRock! I'm so happy you loved your first Kansas song. Steve Walsh is an angel of a singer. If you want to explore their catalog, I suggest "Song for America". It shows some of their musical virtuosity and lyric-writing prowess.
Same with prog metal :))
"Surely heaven waits for you"! Thanks Aileen!
2:52 Reaction is PRICELESS!! that era of music was so incredibly magical..........
SUPERNATURAL RULES!!!!
Were detectives Chewbacca and Solo of the FBI. Can you tell us any information on the blood drained corpse
One of the most underrated bands and voices in my opinion. My favorite band growing up. There is so much music by them before and after this song came out and put them on the map. They are just as tight when playing live.
Check out "Point of No Return" and "Dust in the Wind" as well.
Kansas was the first concert I went to in December 1976. It was to boost their Leftoverture album. They played most of the songs from the album, but saved Carry On for the encore piece and turned it into a 20 minute performance. I've been to a lot of concerts since then, but that one was still a Top Three (Styx and Rush the other two)
Another great tune from Kansas that rocks is "What's on my Mind" in the same spirit as this one.
Totally agree!!
Listening to this song always brings me back to the days of Supernatural and how much of a hold that show had on tons of people 😭Now getting to see you react to it for the first time?? 🖤
What a great show! 2005 2020 rip
The Lyrics are AWESOME!!
This is a vocal and instrumental masterpiece. Awesome.
Thanks for your quite entertaining reaction to this great tune. _Kansas_ has an entire Universe of great songs that no one (besides true fans) has heard before. Sure everyone knows the 2 great tunes they released on singles --- *_Carry on Wayward Son_* and *_Dust in the Wind_* (which you should listen to next!) but there are many other tremendously inventive and progressive songs. Try the following 11 on for size when you get a chance (listed in order of release) --- and there are many other's --- most of their great material appeared on their first 5 albums released between 1974 and 1977:
01. Belexes
02. Child of Innocence
03. Icarus: Borne on Wings of Steel
04. The Wall
05. What's on my Mind
06. Miracles out of Nowhere
07. The Spider / Portrait (He Knew) --- _listen to these consecutively as one song._
08. Closet Chronicles
09. Sparks of the Tempest
10. Nobody's Home
11. Hopelessly Human
Miracles is easily my fave.... 🔥
Chile of Innocence!! Yes yes ❤
All those songs are amazing
For Vietnam VETS this is an Anthem, Henry Winkler , Fonzi from Happy Days TV show, did the Movie Heroes. This was the theme song for the movie HEROES. Winkler portrayed a Vietnam Vet suffering from P.T.S.D. Thanks to KANSAS & Henry from a grateful VETERAN.
'Portrait : He Knew " is an amazing song by Kansas.
Whoa. If I'd known you had not heard this yet, I'd have suggested it months ago. Obviously, you GOTTA hear Dust In The Wind next. A totally different song, it's their other total classic. Point Of Know Return is another fun banger.
"Dust in the Wind" is the song Kansas is known for (and is one of the greatest songs of all time), but another great song that most people overlook is "Hold On"
"The Wall" is definitely a must listen.
It just doesn't get any better then this!! Incredible memories man.....never stop rockin'!!!🤘👊
Kansas! So powerful, complex and gifted. Great song writing, vocals and composition! "Point of Know Return" and many other great songs to discover.
I saw these guys in December 1980 as a 16 year old. Several years later, they played on my ship in the middle of the Indian Ocean on a USO Tour.
These guys have always been great HUMAN BEINGS, and that is reflected not only in their music, but in their actions.
THAT IS AWESOME!
OMG. I have 3 favorite songs in the world. This one, Whipping Post b Allman Brothers and Us and Them by PinkFloyd. Excellent choice Aileen. And just when you think the song is ending..BAM another guitar solo. You are the best and I'M FIRST TO COMMENT. LOL
This song was very orchestrated. The instrumentals played and counter played with vocals. Excellent!!!
Let go! Kansas is one of my favorite bands ever since I was a little kid. If youbwanna hear more definitely check out "Point of No Return" "Dust in the Wind" or "Icarus Borne on Wings of Steel" those are ABSOLUTE BANGERS
Great song and a great reaction, Aileen!
I play two songs by Kansas on the guitar. "Dust in the wind". And. "Hold on".
I am so glad you got to experience Kansas. Easily one of the most talented groups of their time. They were a staple on my cassette deck back and forth to college in the early 80's. I would play this song easily 10 times during the journey, it (and Dust in the Wind) highlight what an incredible rare gift they were! I love how much you truly appreciated them!
Great reaction. “Point Of No Return” and “Dust In The Wind” are also very good songs
What an epic song! A true rock gemstone! A perfect storm of passionate vocals, heavy metal guitar riffs and solos, keyboard solo is amazing. Kansas are a truly unique rock band. Of course this song was produced in the 70s. That’s when Rock n Roll reigned.
I have been a Kansas fan since 1972. I would love for you to listen to their album “Songs for America.” Remember to bring your lunch because they will take you on a journey.
I think it's their best, not one song that I would skip 🤘
Follow up with Kansas "Dust in the Wind"
Yes!!
The background music of my elementary school days.
All the geographical groups of the 70s rocked !!! Kansas, Chicago and Boston were all amazing !!!
When people list the great prog bands, Kansas is the one they always forget, and when people list great rock singers, Steve Walsh is the one they always forget. Which I find perplexing, because when I was in high school, this band was *everywhere.* Though they didn't sound anything like Rush, they have in common with them a flair for unexpected time & key changes, stellar vocals, absolutely masterful musicianship, and a somewhat unlikey popular success given how non-formulaic so much of their work was (lead violins!). I enjoyed watching you discover them, and I hope you listen to more of their work.
The expression on your face shows how much you love this song. I love it more now than when it came out.
One of the best progressive rock bands ever with an incredible range. Aileen, when you get a chance now you should listen to their song Dust In The Wind. Musically it is a 180 degree turn from this, but thematically it is very similar. Their lyrics are always worth zeroing in on. I think you will enjoy it. Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂
I want someone to look at me the way Aileen looks at music videos
Dust in the Wind was another one of their big one's. Anything by Kansas will be good.
The redhead guy also plays violin.
Check out "Point of Know Return" for some of that... 🤙😎
I got to see KANSAS about 6 or 7 years ago , excellent show , I would definitely go see them again !
The Kansas rabbit hole takes all kinds of interesting twists and turns. Have fun!!!!
Best Kansas song to start with
They were a great live band back in the day. They started out kind of proggy, then they released Left Overture and hit it big.
I know you've been through some stuff. But, I'm in love with your smile !! PRICELESS ! More please
Kansas was / is a great 70’s ~ 80’s band… They have many cool and spiritual songs. Left Overture where this song is from is their masterpiece album… Cool reaction and review 👊🏻
“Play the Game Tonight” is one of my favs. Thanks for reacting!
4:43 All Kansas' music lifts you high and makes you soar. Powerfully positive music fr. Why I've loved it all these decades later just the same.
This is a band that I've seen more times than I can count. And they pretty much sounded just that good every time! They're definitely real musicians with skills and talent. This song is from the Leftoverture album. Another relatively rocking tune off of this album is what's on my mind. I'm sure Dust in the Wind should be in the list of songs to check out. It's an acoustic guitar song with deep meaning lyrics, and a violin. When the song first came out, I remember seeing them in concert, and the guy with the long wavy hair and beard played the violin. There are a bunch of good tunes by them that people would recognize. And a few good ones people might not know. Dust in the Wind is a video that would likely be found on RUclips. And it's a really good song!
Kansas is #3 in my top five bands of all time. Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Kansas, Steely Dan and Toto being my list, with several others closely behind. Try anything from the album Leftovertour.its all amazing. Loved your reaction, as always. Cheers from Canada 👍😎🎸🎶🇨🇦
Kansas rocks!🤘 Aileen Rocks!🤘 This music Rocks🤘
Carry On Wayward Son is really great but Dust In The Wind is phenomenal! Thanks for the video!
I had an opportunity to see Kansas when I lived in Japan. They were on a reunion tour and had just released a new album. Great band live! I checked your feed and saw that you had not done a video involving Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Joan Jett is one of the original bad girls of rock and roll! She started as a teenager with her band, The Runaways. After the group broke up, Joan formed her own record label--the first woman artist to form her own label, Blackheart Records--then went solo with her band the Blackhearts. Her biggest hit probably was "I Love Rock and Roll," but had many other hits. I would recommend starting with "I Love Rock and Roll," then move to something like "I Hate Myself for Loving You." The videos for both songs are available on RUclips.
Hi there. I would like to say a very big thank you for doing this song. It is one of my all-time favourites. Another one that they did that was absolutely brilliant was called.: Dust In the Wind. I think you will enjoy it. take care and thanks once again. Blessings to you.
AS SOON AS THE SONG STARTS, "SUPERNATURAL," ONE OF FAVORITE SHOWS EVER! I CRIED AND GET GOOSEBUMPS AND CHILLS!! DEAN AND SAM WINCHESTER!! GORGEOUS MEN JENSEN ACKLES AND JARED PADIKLICKI IM SURE I DIDNT SPELLED JARED LAST NAME RIGHT. BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE BY EVERYONE!! BEAUTIFUL REACTION ALIEEN 🌟🌟🌟🌟 IT'S ROCK N ROLL BABYYYYY!! THANK YOU FOR REQUESTING THIS GEM!! 😊🩷🔥🤘✌️
As a teenager I knew this was a great song, now almost 40 years later it really hits me in the heart.
Incredibly talented, great lyrics, extraordinary vocals and musicianship. A fusion of rock, classical and supernatural. The story of finding oneself and the troubles of youth, but carry on and triumph young man. Never give up. It's actually a beautiful rock ballad. ...I saw them at Mosport Park at Canada Jam in 1978 as the grand finale as it got dark and people got their lighters out to flash in unison to "Dust in the Wind". Singer was wearing shorts, athletic, and doing energetic moves. It was a glorious surreal time. Lovely organic reaction Aileen. You are fun and would have enjoyed the live performance.
Saw them twice in Germany, in 1981 with the original line up ... sensational ... in 1988 when Steve Morse was in the band ... but Kerry missed somehow.
Did Steve back then already make the handstand on his piano ? 🤔🤘
I've said it before. It's fun seeing the hot rocker chick discovering our childhood. It's also strange because she looks like we did and you'd assume she knows them. Keep reacting sweetie. We love it
One of the greatest songs ever written.🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴
Saw Kansas live - one of the best live performers. Clear and clean ..studio quality without auto tune.
This is one of my favourite songs. I loved that it was the opening song for "Supernatural" - they actually did a great acapella version of it in the series.
My first paycheck as a teen I bought a small boom box from Albertson's and went to the local records store and bought my first cassette - Kansas.. "Carry on Wayward Son" was the first song I listened too, which kicked off 45 years of rock and metal music.. I still love this song.. Excellent review!
This song is a staple on my practice playlist for bass. Lots of flying fingers, it’s a great workout for the hands. “Dust in the Wind” is a beautiful heartbreaking track.~Terry
my first concert was during this tour. Kansas was a progressive rock band and Kerry Livgren was its genius. RIP Robbie😢😢
A short list of songs other than Dust in the Wind, which will be suggested 1000x. Song for America, Stay out of Trouble, Portrait (He Knew), People of the South Wind, Point of Know Return , Miracles out of Nowhere , Sparks of the Tempest, Paradox, What's on my Mind, A Glimpse of Home, Hold On,. That's enough to get u started.... 😂
Your next adventure with Kansas should be "Dust In The Wind".
American progressive rock at its best!! This is usually the first reaction for most RUclipsrs. Check out: Dust in the Wind for a very different vibe. Magnum Opus, Cheyenne Anthem, Portrait (He Knew), The Wall, Song for America.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ 👍
I could see the impact of the song on your face reactions. The highs, the depths the lyrics were hitting in you. How the music was taking you on that journey. I love your reactions.
This song is a great example of 70's Progressive or Prog rock, which was characterized by these change-ups in the drumming and the music. But if you keep the beat with your hand from the beginning, you'll find that it never changes throughout the song, despite what it sounds like. To be able to make these drastic change ups and never lose the underlying beat is a real sign of their musicianship.
I hope that you were watching the video as well as listening to this song. Their stage performance is amazing and especially the lead singer playing multiple instruments while singing
The " Leftoverture" album is from a different time and place. Every song is truly a masterpiece. The Wall, Out of No Where, and so many more... ❤❤❤ your reactions are priceless ❤
Great song from a talented band. Great reaction Aileen.
Remember this song long before the Supernatural series and loved it. So when I started watching the series and heard this song, I was like HELL YES! It totally fits the vibe of the characters in the show (Sam and Dean Winchester).
Robby Steinhardt, the crazy reheaded guy, plays killer violin and viola, in addition to vocals.
1975…Kansas opened for Foghat $6.50 still got my stub ✌️
So happy you found this song. There is a really good cover done by the kids of the school of rock. School of Rock AllStar Students perform a cover of "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas
Welcome to my '70s! Sit back and enjoy the show! (Happy to have you along for the ride!)
Loved your reaction Aileen! Kansas is in my top 5 bands of all time. Suggesting "Miracles out of nowhere" "The wall" and "Magnum Opus"
You really can't miss if you listen to any track off of "Leftoverture" or "Point of Know Return".
Love Rich's little guitar solo...class act, he is.
Priceless reaction - great job. Dust in the Wind is very different but another hit of Kansas
Kansas became my favorite band when I got their vinyl "Leftoverature" . This is the first song of that album.
Oh Aileen welcome to my world! This was this old man's music in high school! Beat you didn't think people actually went to school this long ago! :)
This song was played in the Supernatural Series Great song
We have all just taken for granted this incredible music from back then… it’s so beautiful watching you experience it for the first time.😎I’m so happy that you love it too
I’m from Kansas. I saw the band KANSAS in 2015 when they played a “return home” concert in a historic theater. It was just as tight and magical as ever. More KANSAS reactions!
Grew up in Wichita
A cornerstone of classic rock, what band. (Aileen, with that lovely smile that could bring world peace)😊
