  • John from www.growingyour... shares with you his new favorite organic pesticide that kills spider mites, aphids, thrips, whitefly, fungus gnats, mold, mildew, and other soft-bodied insects and has minimal impact on beneficial insects and pollinators.
In this episode, you will learn about a common spring pest that may appear in your garden once the weather gets warm - aphids. You will see the aphids on John's lettuce and tree collard plants in his organic garden.
You will discover the best techniques for preventing and treating undesired insects in your garden.
You will learn about Dr. Zymes, an Organically approved pesticide that will eliminate soft-bodied insects as well as mold and mildew in your garden and can be used anytime during harvest.
You will learn how to properly dilute Dr. Zymes concentrate with water to make 1 quart of active organic pesticide.
You will discover how this natural pesticide is non-persistent and does not hang out long in your garden. You will learn how and when to spray this chemical pesticide alternative for maximum benefit.
Next, you will learn about the least expensive backpack sprayer that John found that actually works well.
You will discover how Dr. Zyme organic pesticide worked on aphids in John's lettuce and tree collards by seeing the results after 24 hours.
Finally, John will share his summary of Dr. Zymes as well as share with you how you can get a free 2-ounce concentrate sample that will make 32 ounces of dr. zymes organic pesticide that is perfect for pests such as aphids whiteflies, thrips, fungus gnats, spider mites and more.
After watching this episode, you will learn John's new favorite organic OMRI approved pesticide and how you can get a sample for free. You will also discover John's techniques for combating pests in his vegetable garden and how to apply dr. zymes.

John, I think I left this tip for insect control on your channel once before. It works great for most little sucking bugs like aphids, thrips, white flies, mealy bugs, etc. For over 35 years I have used Full Strength, Whole Milk in a pump pressurized garden sprayer. The lactose in the milk plugs up the breathing apparatus which is located in their feet / legs and suffocates them. Safe, natural, non-toxic, inexpensive, and just wash it off after the critters are dead.

My question is which is che as per at the moment? However, even if it is cheaper to buy the Dr. Z, plastic is a big deal in our oceans and I can get milk locally and avoid plastic bottles that are only recycled a fee times. I'd pay more for Dr. Z's if it came in glass and was still cheaper than milk.

Feed egg shells ( after washed and then sterilized in an oven at 375 degrees for 10 minutes). The worms make amino acid chelated minerals out of metals. They also make an enzyme called chitinase which eats the exoskeletons of aphids. Aphids fly the other way from chitinase.

I got a bottle of Calcium sulphate from the garden store for fungal issues on fruit trees. It's supposed to kill aphids, too.
That's because it's basically a lime-sulphur application, and while not on the label, the same strength compound has been used as a soil ammendment for calcium and sulphur. It can also boost acidity, although it metabolises out from studies I've seen.
This use as a fertilizer was particularly convenient, as I've seen planting your potatoes in sulphur was a good idea, and I'm just putting them down.

      Citrus Enzyme spray
This stuff worked better than anything else I tried and it was really cheap to make. I don’t think the yeast will show up as a microbial when the weed is tested but you’d better check with someone who knows more than me about it.
I re-read the recipe for citrus enzyme and decided that I really didn't follow it well as I needed a lot more of it than the recipe called for so here's what I did and it worked great. It smells exactly like Dr. Zymes.
      * (16 lemons and 6 oranges made about a gallon.)
Blender loosely full of lemon and orange peals.
      * Fill 3/4 with water
*Add tablespoon of active dry yeast (regular bread yeast)
*Add 1/4 cup brown sugar per blender full.
Blend until the peals get kinda pukey looking
Repeat until you're out of orange and lemon peals dumping the blended junk in a large glass container. Should be about 1/3 ground up lemons and 2/3 water + -.
Loosely cover and apply tape with a date two weeks from now
Stir daily, leave cover on loosely
Strain through progressively finer screens until your down to coffee filter (I bought a "cold brew coffee apparatus, had a nice fine screen about $8)
This stuff should smell kinda lemony, certainly doesn’t smell bad.
Add 1 cup Apple cider vinegar per quart of “juice” to kill the yeast
Mix one cup enzyme juice per gallon with water, spray every day for 3 days.
I couldn't find a living bug no matter how hard I looked under the microscope on previously heavily infested plants. The plants seemed to like the fermented juice as foliar fertilizer too.
Use fermented peal waste as a top dress around plants.
The ferment ended up a clear/amber color with a ½" of cloudy stuff on the bottom of the jars I stored it in. This cloudy stuff went right through the atomizer with no problem.

I just typed where are all the lady bugs and you said you could release lady bugs. Lol. I rarely have had luck with organic pesticide. High pressure water seems to work the best. I released lady bugs in a green house and they still didn’t work. You need to breed them in your greenhouse to get them to work. A very little soap in late evening with the high pressure water works pretty good. The next day it will just rinse off. It’s safe enough to bath in so I’m confident it won’t hurt anything.

From Lil Giant I seem to be allergic to almost every soap on the planet. My family used the ORIGINAL Palmolive hard-milled soap for years until it was a “new and improved” softer bar that also contained lanolin. My main effort right now is to just switch off brands so I can switch off symptoms. Cannot use ANY deodorant bars. Do better with hard milled soaps. Plain Ivory soap makes me feel like I applied a shrinking, ever tightening plastic bag on my skin. Needless to say, very frustrating. Specialty soaps-“non-soap” are too expensive. Found a product called Yardley London-Oatmeal & Almond that was not too bad, but can no longer locate it. You are referring to something called black soap. Does that require an online purchase? (I hate online.) What is it? Thanks in advance.

From Lil Giant I read the report in the link below. What a bunch of trash. This report discriminates against Israel, wielding the full weight of the UN against Israel, using the so-called persecution of Pakistan as an excuse, and lying their buns off. Then, when Heavenly Father continually defends Israel, through their own efforts to defend to themselves , and especially with the miracle of the Seven Day War, they complain about the David who continually holds out against Goliath.
Economic persecution is just one more way of discriminating against Israel. I am reminded of the way the twelve tribes hated Joseph, were jealous of him, and tried to get rid of him. Except this time it is Judah, who holds the scepter til Christ come.

As of May 29, 2020 the 25% off coupon isn't working. Too bad! But the price isn't out of the ballpark - a 32 oz. bottle of the concentrate is only $35.00, so it should last quite a while. They also offer a multi-purpose cleaner that's totally organic, but at the moment they are out of stock. It's less money than the Eliminator.

From Lil Giant I looked up Bee Flies online. Read article online said the 6,000 species of Hover flies, also called Bee flies, have larvae that eat aphids. Bee flies SOMETIMES have black and yellow stripes on their belly, like bees, as a natural defense. Unlike flies, they can hover in the same place. They are pollinators, but bees are much better.
Do not know if anyone is up for having “flies” in their garden. They do not sting. Some try to attract them to control aphids. The article gives a link to: Hover Flies as biological control. I do not know how to transfer a link, but will type it out here and you can get it that way:

I learn sooooo much...... but because of no fault of your own, you lose me (my fault) and have to keep scrolling to find what i am looking for because of the video title (which happens to be what I want to know) but you take so long to get to the point ...... CAN YOU JUST GET TO IT SOMETIMES? Is it possible AND I KNOW IT IS to do a 4 minute version of your videos? Cause really.... out of most of your 30 minute videos only 4-6 minutes is the meat and potatoes and what some of us really need. You have soooo much to offer and I cant speak for ANYONE else but because I live in the great Las Vegas I tune in to you. I love the content in the educational forum.... and yes I know I need to STFU and if I dont like it to just unfollow.... But brother John... from another John... just get to the point brother. Have you ever had a teacher in school or a mentor in your career or a relative that everytime you hung out you know you would learn something that day? And out of those times how often we you just bored out of your mind thinking, "come on uncle just get to the point!" Thank you so much for your time in putting together content and your hard work going into it. It is appreciated and I will continue to scroll but.... try it.... do a short version master class type sh*t in half the time... see which ones get the most views and comments etc. I dont hold the answers nor can predict the future but I have a feeling that more people would tune in with the short version.... quick and easy.... stay on topic and get to the point of your content. IM NOT SAYING CHANGE YOU CAUSE EVERYBODY KNOW YOU ARE FRICKEN AWESOME! All I am suggesting is.... well you get it. Much love again Brother John.

Apparently they ferment a specific blend of things, to make the citric acid function how they are marketing it. Citric Acid on it's own, might work, but might not function identical to Doctor Zyme. I have previously never heard of using citric acid or doctor zyme, so I have some research to do.

This is a great question it’s recommended to use in planting holes /in soil and as drenches for undesirable pests and molds/fungus, but does it kill mycos? Beneficial? It will harm bees so they say to spray when they are inactive (which they are in evening)

2 oz bug formula per 32 oz. water
