How do you address pollinators when using this? Last year I encountered striped beetle on my pumpkin plants. I was afraid to use an insecticide on them for fear of harming natural pollinators, so I was out there trying to pick them off by hand.
Hi Nate, This is concerning JWA. I have had a couple of failures due to getting measurements incorrect (I think) I find it difficult when you use imperial and metric measures in the same recipe. Could you choose just one system so we don't become confused and overwhelmed? Thanks you are a fountain of growing knowledge.
Hi Nate, can I use store bought organic cayenne peppers ? I do have garlic from last season . Question #2 can we use any super hot peppers from our garden or does it have to be cayenne peppers ? Thanks my friend 👍❤️🌞
Sounds good. I bet it would kill pill bugs, question is, would it hurt the worms? It took me a long time to have any population of worms , but I'm inundated with rolly pollies.
Question, I was given some tobacco plants several years ago. I grew them to seed and saved them. Instead of purchasing Jerusalem Artichoke, how would you prepare tobacco leaf as pesticide?
hello grandmaster. I want to make this solution for large areas. I don't understand the proportions because I don't speak English. As written in the book of Jadem? For 1 kg of dry product, it is boiled in 25 liters of water for 5 hours. How are your measurements?
I've been pondering over what plants would be best to make my JHS from since I don't have any of the reccomended ones. Basil is one thing that is aromatic, grows prolifically here, and doesn't ever get bothered by pests. Lemongrass is another option. I need the JHS to be safe for edible as well as smokable plants. Have you or anyone here tried these options or know anything about their efficacy and safety?
No I have not tried either option. However, my friend is having good results with the basil ferment in FLA. I.M.O. I think Lemon grass seems as if it will work well
I have learned much; thank you for the incredibly informative videos. I am in zone 8 and Tomato Horn Worms are a huge problem. Other than going in the garden with a black light and physically picking them off the plants, I've found nothing that works (they glow in the dark under a black light) Will this deter these camouflaged demons?
A huge thank you for your videos, they are very helpful and so comprehensible. I learnt from Jadam videos that gingko helps with stink bug infestation. But there is no gingko in my area. Will garlic and pepper do the job? I don't have other pest issues, only stink bugs
you're welcome my friend and yes this will help... also for stinkbug if you have access to Marigolds add that as well... the whole plant including flowers...
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I'm going to need it soon. If I don't have cayenne peppers locally, should I substitute with jalapeño peppers or use cayenne pepper powder? Thanks.

We had a few warm days here in Colorado ( brutal winter this year} and when I went to the forests to collect some leaf mold it was the only part of the ground that wasn't frozen. Amazing! Thanks again Nate. There are very many of us that really appreciate what you do.
Scott
Thank you, I actually viewed this two weeks ago obviously it did not sink in, I am going to give this a try.
You are a pro bra saves a lot and easy items that can be available will give it a go
Can I use my dried garlic chips and cayenne powder?
Fresh garlic is really best for this but the dried cayenne pepper will work fine
How do you address pollinators when using this? Last year I encountered striped beetle on my pumpkin plants. I was afraid to use an insecticide on them for fear of harming natural pollinators, so I was out there trying to pick them off by hand.
Hi Nate,
This is concerning JWA.
Does this mean I could use things like marigolds, mint, lavender etc?
Any solutions for stink bugs? They are decimating everything in my garden. Greetings my friend
I.M.O. I think Lemon grass seems as if it will work well
@@littlenugs9942 pregunta el fermento de albahaca para que sirve
Would you be able to use habaneros instead of cayenne peppers?
Great I already make liquid soap, great recipe. Thanks
trying to understand, This hot pepper / garlic mix just repels not kills bugs? Is the hotter the pepper the better?
very usefull info thx for sharing
Jadaam video shows combination of js jwa and herbal solution. What do u suggest ? Combination or individual spray of herbal solution
Does JADAM method work in short growing season, my growing season in Canada is 3months and maybe a little bit more but is already Fall?
Thank you. This is very helpful
I have a ginko tree. Are the spring leaves best to use as a pesticide?
Hi,
Can i use this solution for my strawberry plants
Dont affect the flowers ?
I have big problems with thrips
Can you do it in sous vide on low heat to preserve all the goodies inthere?
I have learned much; thank you for the incredibly informative videos.
I am in zone 8 and Tomato Horn Worms are a huge problem. Other than going in the garden with a black light and physically picking them off the plants, I've found nothing that works (they glow in the dark under a black light) Will this deter these camouflaged demons?
Great idea with the black light, I haven’t seen anybody make that suggestion.
@@gardenlikeaviking Thank you again. I've got marigolds, so I can easily add them too. Hope it will save my tomatoes and beans this year 🙂
I wonder if potatoes and tomato foliage would make for an effective spray.
So 1oz of the Castile soap and 1oz of the herbal extract per gallon of water?
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I'm going to need it soon. If I don't have cayenne peppers locally, should I substitute with jalapeño peppers or use cayenne pepper powder? Thanks.
yes any spicy pepper will work... powder also works just be sure to filter it nicely so it doesn't clog the spray emitters...
@@gardenlikeaviking Thank you for responding. I appreciate it.
I love this idea. I have scads of wild garlic in the pasture. As far as other stinky, unpalatable things available here....I'm wondering about rhubarb leaves and lemon balm? Highbush cranberries?
lemon balm will help yes but its not as potent as this mixture... but try and see what works best for you then let me know!
@@gardenlikeaviking I'm hoping that the wild garlic, lemon balm, rhubarb leaves together will prove effective as they all grow abundantly here. I'm in 5b/6a but hot peppers don't seem to do well here. Surely there's flora here that will deter those bugs!
Will this work prior to blossoming, and after, to control coddling moths on my fruit trees?
Cordiales saludos muy gentil desde la Amazonia Ecuatoriana
Hi. Im curious. Where did you come up with your name? Vikings were farmers and city builders (Dublin, York, Reykjavik) but never connected them with gardening. 😀.
I tried putting pots of mint in my bedroom to repel mosquitoes (as per online guaranteed trick) but I think our local mozzies actually like the smell.
Would boiling a solution work do you know? I am going to try it but not to spray all over my room. Maybe just stand some around? Candles definitely dont work.
How would one achieve this is the Instant pot?
Love your passion for your craft. It really adds to your presentation as it is quite evident you love what you do. Thank you for the knowledge you impart.
you're welcome my friend and thank you for this lovely positive energy!
Will this work for potato beetle?
How do you store it? How long is it good for?
Have you thought about publishing an ebook with all of these recipes?
There is one. It’s JADAM Organic Farming the way to Ultra-Low-Cost agriculture by Youngsang Cho. Worth its weight in gold!
the JADAM book has many of these recipes so that is a good read there's a link to it in the video description... eventually yes I'll make my own book but for now most of these I learned from JADAM
Thank you both!
@@gardenlikeaviking I love the fact that you simplify it even more in your videos. While I have read the book I find your very basic step by step processes very helpful!
Вместо мыло можно использовать золу с подсолнечным маслом,как вариант зелёного мыла?
does this work for small grasshoppers? My garden is being decimated.
I believe it will because grasshoppers never eat the garlic or the chillies and therefor it has something in it they don't like... let me know your results!
Much needed video. Thank you!
You can use yucca as a wetting agent, I use ones growing down the street
yes I've used that before in its powdered form but how do you use it whole??
Thank you for the information. I will have to pick up all the ingredients and try it.
Have you made a video on the wetting agent? I have been using Quillaja Saponaria Extract and its kind of pricey, I do love it it helps a ton when watering. I maybe thinking something else so I am hoping this is the same wetting agent that helps me water. Love your videos Brother!
does this hurt beneficial insects in any way?
Hi
Can you use Neem oil liquid soap 😊
Would this work for flea and ticks?
Hello Mr. Viking. Thank you for the videos! Have you ever tried using giant (Japanese) knotweed in this manner? It is said that an ethanol extract of this weed is useful for suppressing powder mildew and botrytis and is also reported to stimulate plant growth. Regalia by Marrone Bio-Innovations uses this method. I’m wondering if it’s also effective using “your”method? When I find this weed I intend to try. You rock!
Do you also dillute with water
Can we use Conocorpus tree leaves, where birds avoid nesting, take shelter and sitting on the branches and even bats also avoid these trees.
Hi,have you any suggestions for dealing with Japanese Bettles? Thanks
look up "milky spore"... thats about the only thing that'll get them
Thanks!
I love this channel!
Have you tried a pressure cooker?
Hii love your videos, can I use store bought garlic I don't have any home bought garlic
yes store bought will work
@@gardenlikeaviking okk thAnks very much
wonderful
You may grow tobacco and Jerusalem artichoke and use those for different potent effect
Hello brother ... its been a long time since i want to try jms...and i like your way of making this... the last time i was out in the forrest for a walk and remembered to collect the black gold from the base of tree...i found an huge old tree but unfortunately this huge godess was dead since a while ...and that make me ask this question... does the tree has to be alive to take inocculation material.. i mean i could see the roots from bottom i could take it from the roots or from the huge hole it left behind....
no the tree does not have to be alive... gather from many different places a handful of each... check out this video for more detail ruclips.net/video/H4LBFn-4Ut8/видео.html
