Is Potassium Hydroxide = KOH?
Hello Sir. I used 250g of 85% KOH with 1.4L of Canola oil. After aging 3 days the solution is softer than the one in the video. Is it still good to use??

Sir, I tried making the solution using Coconut Oil. I made 15% less KOH, and follow all the rest of the ingredients. Is my solution okay even it’s not as clear as in the video?
If you dont have a paint stirrer for your drill you can use a plastic hangar for clothes. Just cut the long piece off leaving a hook at one end. Not sure if it works for this but worth a try.

Hi..I made this 2 days ago, at about 9am by 5 pm it's already hard as Bar soap.. so I did the process of melting..now it's like a gooey substance..it's so thick. What should I do.. should I add more water?
Question: I’ve followed the video, used rain water collected after 30 min of rainfall, aged 3 days etc. My solution is extremely foamy and hasn’t changed after stirring in the additional water. Thoughts?

Even in hard water, you can use JWA as the undiluted solution. My farm is also hard water, but I use JWA for soap and shampoo.
Mr Cho, I have made JWA 15 L with composition Soft Water 1st : 375 ml,Potassium Hydroxide 408 gr, oil palm 2.7 Ltr and Soft Water 2nd 12 Ltr. i used Ground water. The result is not clear, like milk solution. Can I use this solution as JWA?
Even groundwater has a lot of soft water.
If the color of JWA is milk, it doesn't seem like soft water.
In this case, you can use it by increasing the amount used.
If you do not have soft water, it is recommended to use tap water.

What is the maximum temperature that is reached when preparing the different mixtures (JWA, JS, …)? How can I identify the right type of containers needed?
Around 230 degrees Fahrenheit, look for HDPE plastic buckets/containers. Make sure its HDPE NOT LDPE or anything else.
Can you make a general recommendation for the amount of JWA used per acre of land for one season? It is a difficult to know what sort of volume should be made for a given piece of property. Thanks for your great information!!

What is going on with my Autumn blaze Maple tree? Planted last spring. 45 gallon tree. Texas. On automatic watering system, watered every other day for 30 min. We had a very wet spring but now the ground is cracking everywhere because it's so hot. The area around the base of the tree is not cracking though. I noticed these brown/black areas on the leaves. What is this & how do I fix it?

To my favorite family, you guys are awesome. I've been using your methods and have decent results. I had other issues this year. I made this awhile back and want to know if you use less water will the solution be thicker or not work. This first one is watery. Or is it supposed to be like that. Thank you.
If you store it for a long time, the moisture evaporates and it becomes rough easily.
my solution is white like milk but very foamy. i used canola oil and distilled bottle water. can i still use this as jwa? does this have anti bacterial for hand washing? can we infuse it with citronella oil to make it more fragrant for hand wash?
Distilled water is perfect soft water, but I don't understand why it has turned white like milk.
Insufficient primary agitation can also cause this.
You can use it if it is very foamy. It has antibacterial properties. So the application is possible.
In the book it says I have to use 7 lbs of potassium hydroxide. I only have two pounds and only want to make a small batch. However the book says you can not make smaller batches! In here to ask why!? And if there's anything I can do to substitute or fix this problem
This can be done by reducing overall usage.
The values required for the saffonification to happen, thats the term used for the reaction of hydroxide and oil/fats to produce soap/detergent, are chemical equivalents and they work on ratio and proportions. For your case, just define which item controls you in terms of amount/ease of doing it and calculate the rest by ratio and proportion.
When using palm oil to make JWA you advised to use 20 % less KOH. Can I know the reason.
If you use 100%, too much heat will be generated and it will harden very hard and become difficult to dissolve in water.

This is my first time making JWA so I don't have access to JWA to use to test my rain water if it's soft or not. So I follow instruction to make 5L of JWA. How long does it take before the solution will be clear and not cloudy? Thank you.
You can check it in 3 days. If you do not have JWA, you can test using liquid soap made from natural oils.

I followed this but my JWA has not melted and its all clumped together and like a cream, very opaque not clear at all, doesnt seem to dissolve much anymore. What can I do to fix this. i dont think i used a drill too much I barely used one
If you drill too hard, it will turn into a white cream. Add a little more water and let it sit for a few days. It will return to normal.

When sodium hydroxide is used, an insecticidal effect is achieved. However, continued use may cause damage to crops. You must carefully examine it before using it.
In Brazil, vegetable oils from transgenic sources are prohibited in organic agriculture, with canola being a transgenic plant, and considering that the most cost-effective oil in my country that is not transgenic is sunflower oil, what would you recommend?

In Google if you boil a water it becomes soft water. Did you try boiled water ?
According to LYE calculators in soap making 3.6 liters of canola oil needs 475.2g of sodium hydroxide for 0% superfat. In our case 640g of caustic soda will make the soap very alkaline with excess caustic soda. Is this deliberate?
In my case if I make soap from 3.6 liters of canola oil with 20% superfat I am adding 377g of Sodium hydroxide. Can the author or somebody else explain the 640g?
I do not follow saponification values. Making JWA according to the saponification value requires heating and is very time consuming. The saponification value cannot be regarded as an absolute correct answer. A variety of methods are possible.

Any high fat oil will work. Canola is the best because it produces highest amount of suds because of its properties.

Hi Sir i am trying to do the JWA , but when i put oil in my KOH solution i drill only for 3mn and solution become hard like shea butter, and plastic become very hot . Is it the oil problem? I am confuse , i used our vegetable oil here made in africa

hi this is Niranjan Yoga and i'm from India.
I changed 2 ingredients for the volume of 50 litre - I used caustic soda and coconut oil instead. It solidified overnight after 12 hours of the initial mix.
so its been 24 hours now and its still hard like rock. I dont know what to do so i added 8 litre of soft water hoping that it will come to a butter like consistency.
please advise me on the right steps and correct me if i have done anything wrong here
Caustic soda makes it very hard. So, it is very difficult to dissolve in water. Divide the hard lump into small pieces and dissolve in water. It takes longer.

Olive oil is expensive so we cannot use it.
The reason olive oil is good is because it is pressed oil.

What makes jadam wetting agents to be thick I and White in color used sunflower oil.
Check if the water is soft water. This can also happen when the primary agitation is insufficient.

This is normal. If the agitation is strong, such a phenomenon occurs. Add water to dissolve it.

It can work, but it is a very laborious process. It takes a lot of time to dissolve in water.

There is no great risk. JWA fully decomposes in nature in 5 days.
