My grandma used to make these a lot when I was little! My family would go to Greece and visit her. In the mornings, she would make these every morning. She was also famous for these because she would hold brunches every so often. This is a nostalgic recipe to me! Thanks for making it!!
I simply love your videos, Beth (I know..I know, you may have heard this, a zillion times) but I do. Its not always about the recipes but also the presentation. How you lay out every element on the table to go with your final product is mesmeric. Choosing the best crockery, cutlery, shakers, letting the natural sunlight beam through the windows, turns a simple video into something so magical. Thank you for taking that extra effort for us. I'll never forget the "Apricot Galette" Video. The presentation in that video was immaculate. Love, Shoma.
MsScorpyscorp Aww thanks Shoma. I can never hear that too many times :) So much work, passion and devotion goes into this channel that it's always nice to hear that the little details I obsess over (like dishes and the way the light hits the table etc ha!) is not lost on anybody. I always say we eat first with our eyes, and I want you guys to feel most inspired to make these recipes. They all feel like my "little children" that deserve to have a pretty spotlight on them ha! So glad you enjoy the channel, and yes that Apricot Galette Video still remains one of my favorites too! Ha! Here it is for anyone who missed it :) Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/vwY2OFy6Ph0/видео.html
I first had a Dutch baby when I visited San Diego, at this cute little restaurant,. Blew my mind. I love it. Hopefully I can make this. Thanks for the video
This will always be PANNUKAKKU to me! My ex husband is of Finnish origins and his mother made this for our children frequently. Got her recipe and kept this Finnish tradition alive for my kids after her passing (God rest her soul). My children, now adults still make it.
Made this for the kids lunch and they love it! My picky daughter says" Mom, this is really good and I can't explain how good it is! Thank you for sharing your recipe! I think this will be a nice summer traditions from now on with my family.
I have made this twice in the last week.I'm not a big fan of regular pancakes because they are so heavy but this little number was so light I truly was tempted to eat the whole thing. I also like the fact that it wasn't overly sweet. Can't wait to make it for my girls when they come home to visit. Thanks for all your yummy recipes and keep on sending them our way. God bless
This is the simplest and best Dutch baby recipe, ever! I have used it twice so far and made it for breakfast today. It's quick, easy and most of all delicious! I add canned peaches to my mix is the only change! Thank you!
Oh I LOVE the idea of the peaches! That's brilliant! It's funny I just made this for my kids last weekend and thought the same thing, "This is so easy!" ha! :) So glad you enjoyed it too!!
So after several years of seeing these being made on tv, I recently bought a 12" cast iron pan and today I decided that it was time. After looking for the best Dutch Baby recipes I chose your recipe because you have a RUclips video and I really appreciate that because I am the visual type of person. Firstly, I warmed up the milk in the microwave and placed my cold eggs in some warm water so that the eggs and milk would both be at room temperature. I then followed your instructions and waited, although I wanted to open the oven door to see how it was coming along I resisted and instead just watched with anticipation through the darkened glass door. After the time came to an end of the 18 minutes I left it in for 2 more minutes while watching closely so it wouldn't burn. Ok. Now I took it out of the oven and it was beautiful, I sprinkled some confectioners sugar and added some dollop's of Boysenberry jam. I cut it up with a pizza slicer into fours and took a little taste, it was delicious, it tastes sort of like bread pudding or a quiche, my family loved it. Thank you for your magnificent and simple recipe. I am sure I will continue to make these using your easy recipe.
Looks delish, I grew up on these German Pancakes as mom called them. We'd slice it like a pizza and sprinkle with powdered sugar and also drizzle some lemon juice on. great vid thx...
My go-to recipe now! Last week I tried one where you had to whip the eggs until light in color.. (I didn't want take out the mixer!) and it was bland and didn't puff. I made this today as I watched. Thank you Beth!
Being a 2nd generation Dutch family we do the "Dutch Baby" all the time and our kids love it. We serve it with strawberries and maple syrup and it kills!!!
@@WoutervanderMeulen Not sure.. However my grandmother is 100% Dutch and both of her parents immigrated and settled with a bunch of Dutchman in a nursery area in Central CA. Couldn't really understand a word they said growing up. And the Dutch Baby recipe was huge and was a great treat for Sunday brunch.
I love theses Dutch babies ......my ingredients are a little different however, if you heat your pan on stove top to very hot add the butter and then the batter, let cook on stove top for a minute or so, then place that in the oven I find it cooks better! I have never added sugar and I put 3 eggs. And 1/3 cup less milk, I’m trying your recipe.....thank you!
Beth, your Dutch Baby Pancake looks gorgeous and delicious! That wedge is so creamy and so yummy! It´s the perfect start of the weekend. Also i love because it´s a very nutritious dish for kids and adults. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Patricia.
I did the exact same steps (except adding a bit of cinnamon powder and using a square oven tray). It rose but did not rise like in the video. I stopped at 18 minutes. Thanks for sharing! I will practice this more.
Beth, would you ever make a cookbook of all your recipes? I've watch almost all your videos and have tried many of your recipes and absolutely love them all. I wish I had s print out of all you recipes in front of me at all times. Just so enjoy you and your work! I just smile so big when I saw a new vid post!! Thank you Beth for making my kitchen more fun :-)!
I'm Dutch and I never saw this in my whole life haha. But it looks so good and I'm going to try this Recipe for sure!! I always love your recipes Beth! ❤️
The "Dutch" of the title doesn't in fact refer to Holland, or anything to do with that country, but rather owes its name to the fact that this particular pancake comes from the German-American community known as the Pennsylvania Dutch and would originally have been served with melted butter, sugar and lemon, and indeed they often still are.
Erin Kim Aww thanks guys! And I get so excited when I see all your little familiar avatars pop up each week. It's like the best group pen-pals :) How fun is RUclips?! It makes the world feel like one big international block party! Ha! xx
Entertaining With Beth RUclips is sooo fun. it's really nice when you can 'talk' to someone like you about the videos you post for us. makes everything more intimate and exciting and we can share so many cool things :))
It's no mystery why you have almost half a million subscribers. You are awesome and the video is very enjoyable. I can't wait to make this for myself. You've just earned a fan (and subscriber) for life.
This sounds like a great recipe that I'm definitely going to try! Previously I've made Dutch Babies and dressed them with east homemade Ricotta cheese and boysenberry syrup - DELICIOUS!!!
All of your recipes look sooo good!! Thanks for sharing them with us. It's always so fun to watch your video. And I am going to try this one out tomorrow and I know I'm going to love it! Have a great night/day! 💕
6:30 am Saturday morning in Michigan!...Just made mine! Only real difference...add a pinch of nutmeg (makes a big tasty difference)! And, use room temp eggs and milk AND the sugar in the batter is not necessary! You’re already going to add powdered sugar & syrup when done...don’t leave out the lemon!
Made this recipe today and the results were great the only thing that I changed was that I added more white sugar and they were yummy I never had dutch baby pancakes I was a little iffy about making it but this is going to be my new kind of pancake, thank you for sharing this recipe. 🍴
The way I do it in my family (my great grandma found a recipe on a paper in her village), is we put the batter on the pan, make sure it touches the whole base of the pan. Then, we take it out, butter it, put on powder sugar, then roll it up (like an omolette) and then put on a little more powdered sugar! 😋
Right?! Easy peasy! :) I'm not sure what the name of that song is, it's just something I found in my "cleared music library" cute isn't it? :) Happy little tune ha!
Nope it's the eggs that give the volume :) but eggs are fragile (think of a souffle) so this needs to be served right away since it deflates quickly :) Hope you enjoy!!
Hey Beth! Do you think your recipe will be able to fit into my 18cm skillet (it's reallly small)?? Or do I have to scale down the measurements? I really want to try it out! Thanks!
Jayohlynn I actually think you should be OK. It will probably puff up more and require a bit more baking time because it will be thicker. Maybe 20-22 mins? Enjoy!
Beth_you_are_amazing !!! I am not so much of a sweet-tooth but this one is really simple and great!!! I am going to give it a try! Also, could you please do a few videos on vegetarian main courses....i always run out of those. Thanks a trillion!!!!

Aww thank you for your kind words :). I hope you are staying safe and healthy too! And yes good to remember these days are temporary and there will be better days ahead as we reunite with friends and family :)
Oh could you make something like a French mushroom soup thing? its white and has mushrooms in it I had them in La Madeline and its so good! I don't know the name of the soup though..
Made this today for breakfast, it was a hit all around! I added some cinnamon and nutmeg into the batter and put some thinly sliced apple on top for the second half of the bake, cinnamon in the powdered sugar to finish. Thanks Beth! :-)

Hi. Did you use normal flour or self raising flour?
Thanks
, yours is one out of many with actual measurements.

My son needs to film me making a Dutch baby for a class he’s taking and this will be the perfect recipe! I love your channel!
Great recipe I love Dutch babies. Thanks
Happy autumn, Beth. Your Dutch baby pancake looks so pretty, and so are you, my friend.
I used two mini skillets and it worked flawlessly. Thank you.
Made it this morning! My 3-year old gobbled it up, Beth! Thank you for these super-easy recipes!!!
Looks delish, I grew up on these German Pancakes as mom called them. We'd slice it like a pizza and sprinkle with powdered sugar and also drizzle some lemon juice on. great vid thx...
This recipe is amazing! I added 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder and 1 TBs of sugar it turned out amazing!!! This is way better than pancakes
So glad it was a hit! :)
@@EntertainingWithBeth oh big time! Will make it again tomorrow 🥰❤️

sounds and looks delicious, but sadly all of our skillets have plastic handles. could i make it in something else, like a ceramic dish? 💖
you definitely can :)
Laura Virzì Sure or a metal cake pan works great too! :)
Yes, mine turned out great in a metal pan. I did spray it for extra insurance.
thanks i will definately try it out!
Oh could you make something like a French mushroom soup thing? its white and has mushrooms in it I had them in La Madeline and its so good! I don't know the name of the soup though..

Michael Wright Oh yum! Love that idea! That sounds great!! :)
Can I just use oven safe ramekins to make individual pancakes?
great recipe I`m lovin it
Can I use a 12' inch cast iron skillet . If so, would i have to double the ingredients ?
Thanks
Sure I would 1.5x the ingredients :) Double would be too much and it would be too "doughy" and potentially not puff up. :) Hope that helps!
Metric as well, THANK YOU!
I make mini Dutch Baby pancakes in a muffin tin all the time. So cute! I do add a little orange or lemon zest to the batter. Also I sometimes use white whole wheat flour. I'll have to use your recipe next time :-)
Kelly Hutchinson oh love the idea of the zest! And how cute they must be in a muffin tin :) Like little popovers!
hi beth can i use salted butter instead of unsalted butter? Because i don't have that in hand right now
Oh sure you could use that too :)
Lovely!
What size skillet are you using for this quantity of batter?
Sure it's a 9.5" skillet but as large as 10" would be fine too! :) enjoy!
Can I premake the batter and use it later after dinner?
Yes of course! Great idea! If it ends up thickening while it sits in the fridge, just whisk in a little milk :). Hope you enjoy!
Can I make this with almond flour
Thanks Beth !!
Simply yummy
Slice it into wedges? Uh uh, give me a fork, woman!!!!
Yum..and so easy! Love your new intro music Beth, did you gave it commissioned and written just for your channel?
SneakyVeggie oh no it's just some standard stock production music I license. But glad you like it! :)
