Worked perfectly on my 2008 4Runner.
rav4 2010, base. after 6x door, security did not turn solid red.

Is the 'master' just a key that had already been programed, or is it special? Also, when you are putting the key in and out, is that the master key or the one you want to program?
You have to make sure if the master key has a dimple in it (at the base of the blade where it goes into the head), you need to get a spare that has the dimple, I had one that said 'G' on it, I had to find a blank with a 'G' marking, it has to do with the chip inside the transponder, they must be of the same kind. I hope this helps someone.

I must be doing something wrong. I’ve tried on my 2012 rav 4 with no luck.
I have a 2007 rav4 v6 limited. i got the lock n unlock to work, key turns cranks but doesn’t start. I followed your steps with my single master key. I can’t make the security light to stay on solid for programming mode.. (bought to key and cut them) the work just not to start up vehicle because of chip..
Notice no one has gotten this to work.

I've tried this.. lost count. 5 in/out on master key, 6 door open/shut, and the light never comes on or stays solid. I'm trying this on a 2010 Tacoma.

That's because this guy furniture to mention it doesn't work on corollas. You need to buy an additional key programmer to program the transponder.
Tried it on my 2021 Tacoma but never got the solid light. It just kept flashing when new key was put in ignition. Any suggestions?

@@JaredBusch I have a 2016 4runner and need a second key. Can you use these steps for the 5th gen 4Runners? Or do you need the dealership programmer thing? I did similar steps like this video on my spare tacoma key and it worked great…but the Tacoma is a 2007…so maybe it’s old enough to not need a little programmer thing? I found a company called Tom’s Keys and they mail you a programmer thing for $60 and a $120 refundable deposit that you’ll get back once you ship the think back to them. They made it sound like you definitely need one of those things to program a new key for my 2016 4Runner. Thanks bud 🥴🍻

My mother in law has dementia and hides everything. She list both keys to her toyota camry and my husband bought a new ignition with keys. Now we can't get them to work because if the chip what should we do? BTW his friend broke a few teeth getting g the old ignition out so we can not put the original back in. We were not careful because my husband called the dealer and gave them the Vin number and they told him there wasn't a chip so he told his friend not to worry taking the original out ???

Great video, but I have not been able to get my 2006 Toyota Corolla in programming mode (solid indicator) in spite of having tried this method exactly several different times. Meanwhile, I have the OEM key cut but it is just sitting in the glove box. :( Am I missing something? Can anyone help? What am I doing wrong? Thanks folks.

I have the same issue with my 2016 Corolla. I can’t get it into “program mode”. I’m using my Fob master key. I checked both master and new key, and they have the same code on the key, so I’m guessing it’s the right key. The key I purchased is an OEM key, as well. Please help! I’m gonna go nuts trying to figure this out!

I have now tried this with 4 different brand new keys 😢😭 either I’m getting cheap incorrect keys from Amazon, (all of the fobs were able to program) I’m doing something wrong or there’s something wrong with the security system! The security bypass light never goes solid and never stops blinking until the one original working key is inserted. Any suggestions?

How can you program a new transponder chip key without master.? My master is lost and all I have for spare is a key without transponder.

So I tried the method on my 2015 Rav4. The only thing is the programming light will still blink. I just left the key in like he says and it worked.

RAV 4 2007 base model with a dot key is not entering programming mode (after entering master key 5 times, leaving it at key hole opening and closing driver door 6 times & removing key), where can be the problem?

But I also unplugged my security light cause the blinking was annoying me, it worked the second time I tried. Phew. I lost the original key and had to have one cut and programmed, I ended up taking the seats out and bam there was the key. In a spot I'd have never found it otherwise.

Lies! I tried this 10 times on my 2010 Toyota Corolla and nothing. You still need to take your car to the dealership and have them program your key.
Dealer said that they had to cut the key :(
