This worked on a 1999 Avalon. My Autel IM508 key programmer was having issues connecting to the vehicle. But the gas peddle process got two more keys added.
I love the start up sound of that 1MZ-FE! I did not know Toyota was already using the OCD program things thing back then... But hey, no need to go to the dealer! Can't beat that! :D
I made the mistake, for my wife's Sequoia, we just decided to go to Walmart and purchase a transponder key and almost $70 later they had cut and programed the key for us right there in the store. Toyota also has a different jingle that you do for the newer Toyotas but it is definitely easy & possible to do it yourself. I might buy me just a spare blank key for the Sequoia and do a tutorial on that! So much worth saving the money and doing it yourself. For this Camry transponder key, I spent $8 on the blank transponder key & then $2 to cut it. Talk about nearly a $60 savings!
@@100mgd That's amazing! However, most new cars use laser cut keys... So there's that now... I used to go to Ace hardware and have extra keys cut for my 2001 Camry without a transponder and the same fkr our 2007 Kia Sportage. In fact, I believe I had 5-6 keys for the Camry... LOL!
@@midnightmystery544 well even though they may be laser-cut like the newer Chevy keys and the Lexus key, you can take it to a dealer and usually have the dealer laser cut them anywhere between $20 to $60 & still program them yourself by doing a silly little jingle. Depending on the year make and model, it should be possible to find out how to program them and save yourself from having to spend anywhere from $100 to $300 have them program it for you in just 15 minutes if it doesn't use software and only uses a jingle.
Thank you so much for this video. I just did it for my 02 Camry SE V6 and it worked. I got the key from eBay and went to Home Depot to cut it. Some Home Depots will turn you down depending on the employee who’s there tho.
This way worked on my 01 Toyota highlander as well. I thought it was the key then open & close the door, but this way was much more fun. & I have 2 extra keys now
If I understand correctly you have the gray one which would be a valet key, as long as your original key that you have to copy with is plastic/rubber head you should be fine but if you only have a metal one, it will not work as metal only ones are non-transponder which means that you may not even have a transponder
Bought the key off of eBay and you can take it to any hardware store hardware stores. Had a few troubles with mine being cut at two home hardware stores with the manual key cutter so I ended up taking it to a Walmart first who refused to cut the key because it was not one of their keys and it was just a silly liability issue making them afraid that I would go after them if they cut the key and it did not work which I would not have retaliated against them. I then went to Home Depot where they were cool and not strict like Walmart and allowed me to give them my out of store blank key to put in their Hillman automatic key cutter. After Home Depot cut it with that machine, the key worked precisely! The best part yet would be if you can't go to any hardware store that will accept to cut your key if it was purchased out of store, take it to your local Toyota dealer because they have key cutters.
Does NOT work for 2007 Toyota Corolla. Nor does the key in and out of the ignition switch, followed by the 6 times with the drivers door trick. Bah. Humbug!

Just bought another 1999 Avalon that is only going to come with one key. Hopefully it works if I only get the original SLAVE key and not the MASTER.

Can you help me, tried 20x

Thanks for the video. From what year to what year this procedure will work? Please advise. Thanks!

Worked perfectly on my 1998
Nice video , didn't know about this , I've just done the key fob programming before
The more you know!
@@100mgd thanks for sharing my dude

My 04 Camry doesn't have a security light. How do I know this is done?
This worked on my european avensis 2002 ! Thanks!
What if all keys lost on 1999 Camry there is no 4c eeprom in it
Two methods don't work for 2006 acv36 sportivo camry. Seems like toyota disabled it on some cars.
What to do I don't have master all I have is your transponder key that I got from the dealer cut from the dealer does it work the same
Does this method work for a 2000 solara?
Can we add a few keys at same time!?
Will it work this easy if it's a "knock off" key from another source?
From reading other comments it will(?)
But will test this out in the morning.
