- After filming his cameo on Syfy's The Expanse, Adam spends a few minutes chatting with actor Wes Chatham about his character Amos Burton, surprises from the second season and wearing a spacesuit fora prolonged period of time.
Season 2 of The Expanse is airing right now on Syfy. Season 1 is available now, via on demand, Syfy.com and Amazon Prime.
I love how Wes plays the role of Amos perfectly, in the beginning I was a bit skeptical but now I am happy they chose Wes for the role. He is killing it on the show (also literally).
Its that military training
I thought he would be perfect when I heard he was cast, and remembered his role in the Unit. He has those eyes which are at the same time innocent and lazy-psycho killer
I kinda think they add some eyeliner and stuff to Wes's his eyes to make them stand out more. Can someone confirm?
I did not know there were books. Amos is also started to become my favourite character. You just don't know where you or the other are with him. He is innocent and also a killer at same time.
The other one I liked (Muller) they killed off.

Cara Gee as Drummer is cool but I don't think she'll be given a backstory unless the Dawes act's up big time.
'Bobbie' W. Draper just irritates me. She's supposed to be a hardass (I was initially comparing her with Ripley -Sorry Ripley) but comes off as a baby. She also seems to have baby fat, that does not seem good for a marine then again, small niggles.
Amos in the show is nothing like the book.. what the hell are you people talking about? Did you even read the book?
So... He was reading the book, Amos was his favorite character, and then he got to play him on the show? That's incredible. I've never heard of anything like that happening before.

Wes seems like such a cool down to earth guy, and he completely nails the role of Amos. It's awesome that he was a fan of the books before the show was a thing.

I was so skeptical about Wes playing Amos but honestly now at this point I can't see anybody else playing him. I even see book Amos as Wes now.
Agreed, I'm still not completely sold on Naomi or Holden but Amos and Alex are perfect.

Amos is awesome, he's probably the most, or one of the most, popular characters in the novels, and I am happy with Wes Chatham's portrayal of him, and even more happy to know he's a fan of the source material!

Amos is my second favorite. My favorite character is Avassarala.
She's great in the show and, in my opinion at least, better in the books, her and Amos have such a great dynamic.

Wes is such a genuine dude. I had a totally different idea in my head of what Amos looked like and carried himself like reading the books, but now Wes is the perfect depiction of Amos in my mind.
I read Leviathan Wakes and Caliban's War before watching the Expanse, and I was never really sold on Amos as a character, I was always more focused on Miller and Holden and Julie than anyone else. Watching the show, I've really warmed to Wes's portrayal of the character, and I actually really enjoy reading about him in the books!
Amos is probably the most dynamic and intriguing character in the series. We get but the briefest of descriptions regarding his childhood, but it's way more than enough to make Amos what he is. But unlike most severely damaged people he realizes what he's missing and finds people who.might fit the bill of a good person. His allowing the redemption of peaches is a great story and it's ending shows that Amos didn't quite snuff out all those pesky human emotions, and he processes the shit out of his grief in the best way Amos could. Fucking love this series

I caught the first season on demand and then watched second as it come on and it is great. I totally agree that this is the show to beat and all the actors are doing a great job with the material. I am reading the books so I am kind of spoiled but still enjoying watching them bring the characters to life.

I'm so jealous!!!! If I had a single wish, it would be to have been involved with The Expanse! The cast and especially Wes are PHENOMENAL actors who's chemistry on screen is perfect, and they say nothings perfect... Not true!

Love the show. Highly commend the books as well. everyone should read them they go way deeper into the toons and their relationships They would help explain to some that have trouble withthe story
It wouldn't make his performance any less on-target if he really had no interest in science fiction - but the fact that he loved the novels and his character before even being called to audition is so satisfying.

Which episode was Adam in? IMDB doesn't specify the episode. I have watched all of the expanse and mythbusters, yet I somehow totally missed the cameo!!
There are a few TV-shows I really would see continue. And "The Expanse" definitely is one of them.
I was sad when Babylon 5 finished, and they tried to make some sort of ending of it. But it didn't work out so well.
I wish it would have continued, but that didn't happen.
Now I wish "The Expanse" don't experience the same fate.

I don't know how many Expanse books there are, if it's done, if they'll be done after those are done, or if they'll keep doing their own thing, but after Game of Thrones, this is the shit.
I want them to keep going for quite some time.
This is very much THE Sci-Fi show to beat right now. And i don't think the new Star Trek will do it, i hope it will, because ST is cool as well and that will mean it would even better, but probably not.
There are currently 6 books published and there will be 9 total. At this point I don't think the authors expect to go beyond 9. There are also a set of novellas available as e-books that fill in the background of the characters.
That'll probably do them a while, and it wouldn't be the first time the series writers will make up new stuff to keep going, just depends on who's at the helm. Seen how the writers of the books are also working on the show, that is probably unlikely. I think they can keep going long enough and do a good job and then leave it be.
Some series keep going too long with crap just to try and keep the cashcow going. Going out on a high seems better.
