Since America is in a race to see who will dominate this century through space supremacy the Expanse is telling a Story that inspire and warns.
The commitment to Science is so rare because it is hard... probably why the genre is called hard Scfi!!!!!!
Other examples of Hard Scfi would be Arrival, 2001, Moon, Ad Astra....
The Expanse is often mistaken for Space Opera and it does have its action, politics, detective noir, mystery, fantasy, drama and cultural sub-genres....
By holding it all together with a golden thread of science it has created a world of real danger, stakes and cost.
Hard Scfi by most experts is the hardest to get right or even be consistent with. It takes a very vigilant crew, cast, writers, producers, effects, props, and directors.
Somehow the Expanse has found people able to pull it off and the scientific world applaudes The Expanse and Amazon!!!

@john doe I think naomi's our sense of justice. She's willing to get her hands dirty, but always to side with the oppressed. She can be our conscience in the sense that Prax and Anna are more secondary characters, they're not part of the story for a good chunk of it (prax being only In the Caliban's war arc, and Anna being here only for the end of Caliban's war and Abbadon's gate. I haven't read the books, so I'm hoping they come back in later seasons.)
The cast of The Expanse all seem so articulate, intelligent, grateful, and genuinely enthusiastic and invested in the show-and it's strikingly evident in the final product.
I like how Adam has retained his ability to be a kid well after he has already “retired” in a sense.
It's a core part of his personality.

The show that honours the science in science-fiction.
The Expanse is so perfectly cast and written that it reminds me of how perfectly cast and written was the Firefly series. I feel so grateful to see The Expanse saved from the fate that befell Firefly, while also feeling sadness that Firefly was never given the same chance for multiple seasons of great storytelling.
Choosing to see the glass as half full though, I’m just glad I lived to see Firefly, Serenity, The Expanse, The Orville, and Mythbusters/Tested all become reality. Life is good!

@@rachreid8746 -- You are bringing up a valid point that I was ignoring. I am going to be one of those who watched the show first and will only be reading the books AFTER seeing the show. I have not started reading yet.
If I had read the books first, I might have a totally different perspective. I was caught up in the emotion of seeing a science fiction series be saved from oblivion like I wish Firefly had been. I may change my mind once I find out how the source material portrays the characters.
@@stevenumerator I just love that Naomi's hair tells you what she is thinking and feeling. I wish she was taller than Holden as well. She never left the group too. I miss the way her and Holden came together. I love book Amos but he is a monster and not good looking at all.
Or, I am just one of those annoying people lol.

I have to say Adam did great job interviewing these two. The questions were thoughtful and most importantly you gave Dominique and Steven time to respond fully. I am so tired of incompetent interviewers who ask stupid superficial questions and then cut off the response as soon as they get their sound bite. Well done Adam. I was interested and engaged throughout.

I dont think there is one thing I dislike about this show. The cast, the narrative, the effects. Truly the greatest scifi series to come out in the last few decades.
Adam is an amazing interviewer. Very thoughtful and insightful questions phrased in ways that promote a relaxed environment and prompt in depth and interesting responses.
I think it is because he is an actual fan. He has even been in an episode.

Out of curiosity I decided to to start watching a few days ago... I’m almost done with season 3! This is such the best tv series ever!

This show has deeply influenced me. It's so moving! I have learn so much, in terms of people. My love for this show, is Evermore.
Years later people are still finding this show. I’m watching it with my husband now. We’re half way through season three. This is so great.
If there's any show that deserves to be continued, it's The Expanse. What a fucking diamond in the rough... and without question the best long-running sci-fi series I've ever watched. I had no idea this show even existed, never even saw a TV advertisement for it. Not once. Honestly, the thing that got me to check it out was the company TellTale just announced a video game spinoff for it, and it looked interesting. I was like "Wtf is this and why haven't I heard of it before? It seems big budget and high quality." Looked it up, and instantly started binge watching and fell in love with it. I was hooked from start to finish.
If you like sci-fi stuff and never heard of The Expanse, do yourself a favor and go watch it right now. This is an incredibly well done show, it just for some reason never got the kind of mainstream attention or advertising that other smash hit tv series do.
The grandeur of Season 4 was only possible because of the incredible work of so many people!!!

The Expanse is the Best Hard Scfi Show in the world ... The story is important and moving but does not need over capitalisation)))

Season 4 is an epic turning point. The show makes the books and novellas soar into new hights of creativity.
The presentation never ceases to improve. At the same time there isn't the same amount of intrigue and mystery as the earlier seasons (especially one) but I haven't read the books, the conflicts between our main factions probably complexify quite a bit once the colonisation starts. But the two previous arcs felt a bit like an interlude to ease us into a new phase of the story, and I'm hyped for what's next.

Whoever is casting the characters on this show is a GENIUS! Everyone I have seen on the show looks like they lept of the pages of the books.

I think Dominque looked so very cool with her frohawk. She always looks very attractive but I think the old doo suited the character more. It gave her more of an edge like where her Belter roots would be from.
This is, hands down, the best celebrity interview I've ever seen. Good job Adam, and great job Expanse actors, writers, and crew!
Ms. Tipper and Mr. Strait are so charming, geez can this get any better? I could listen to them go on for hours - what chemistry, what awareness, what humility, what generosity. 🤯

It is SO HARD for Season 4 to be only 10 episodes long and then we have to wait for a year for the next season. I find myself rationing the season 4 episodes to make it last longer.

Watching the expanse in it's 5th season now is basically the hole that fills the vacuum in my world since Firefly was cancelled. I have never thought so often to myself about any other on screen production "I am so lucky to be a live to see this"

The writing is absolutely First Class on "The Expanse."
Adam is very present and asks good questions. Never a stiff moment :)
It's amazing how the character of the actors comes through in the characters they play. The whole CAST is likeable, which makes their characters inherently more likeable.
One of the best Television shows ever, and imo the best "Sci Fi " show EVER.

I just want to say that the "The Expanse" cast is very lucky to be a virtual family. I personally have been fortunate enough to have a work family at my current job, even when I was transferred to a new location. I wish all of you the best, and thank you for providing the best science fiction program I can recall.

So glad amazon stepped in. This series is so good, and so textured. Its never boring, there are no filler episodes. Love it so much
Wes is my favourite actor on the show, not to say anything against the rest, they're all amazing, but Wes is so physically different from how Amos is described in the books, yet he nails the performance, and I absolutely believe he is as menacing and powerful as the book version. And then I see him in behind-the-scenes moments, on Twitter or in interviews, and he's the actor I'd most like to meet and chat to, because he just seems so incredibly nice!!

Beer tummy ?
Also I forgot Alex’s Texan drawl which is less pronounced in the show I think

Best show out there and it rewards rewatching which is basically magic. Every time I watch an episode I see things I didn't notice before.
I love the frank behind the scenes kind of interviews. It gets more into the nuts-and-bolts of acting that I find interesting.
I only just came across this show in November (2019) and have to say, it’s my new favorite syfy series. I just got caught up and am itching for season 5. At first I thought wow, they are spending a lot of time in the vomit comet. Then probably half way through episode one, I realized that it had to be all practical effects. And, wow. That makes it even more amazing. Looks so real. And.... the casting is perfect. Love this show.
She is a 10 out of 10 on the show but somehow is even more alluring in reality. She is not only comely she has a warm intellectual personality. How is she not a bigger star?
Because her character is her. She's not acting. Look at the way she speaks, her mannerisms. You couldn't tell if she was reading script or being herself.
Steven Strait, on the other hand, is nothing like his character.

Your definition of "10 out of 10" is rather peculiar. It's amusing how this show should be almost exactly my thing (although not as realistic as I hoped it to be), but it's exactly the actors that were preventing me from starting to watch it.

@@kylebolton8147 Well, I'm not saying it's amateurish, they do act as your typical pro actors would (for better or for worse), it's the cast themselves I'm having problem with. It's hard to find a face there I can actually sympathize with. Maybe that politician, but I haven't managed to watch past the first third of the initial episode yet and only saw the other people act very briefly.
So far I liked the book better, but the scene with that guy being all needy with the Navigator made me cringe (guess it was the same with the TV series producer).
Maybe I just don't like young actors (and probably the newer generations in... well... general), but for some reason this cast is just killing me whenever I look at them.
@@getsideways7257 Hmm, fair enough. I actually started the show before reading the books so to me the cast all seems to fit the character so well because I never had an opportunity to imagine them differently haha
So the two of them are practical about night-shots and don't worry about if they look perfect. That's a nice touch of humanity and honesty.

The Expanse is one of the best sci-fi shows out there! Great storyline that’s been adapted and written well, amazing world building, good effects with solid production and a brilliant cast!
I first saw clips on YT about this series, and wondered where I could find out how I could see it. I got Amazon Prime and saw they had it and turned on binge mode and got hooked! I've watched all 4 seasons 5 times!

My mom and I watched 4 seasons in 4wks during quarantine. Tipper and Steven you both had me at hello. I just can't stop watching this show. Your character are so believable. Love love love this show, just Wow!! I can't wait to see Season 5.
I wonder if folks knew Adam had a cameo in the season 2 finale. He was the Arboghast Mission Specialist when the ship got dismantled in the Venus atmosphere. He was one of the three who were wide eyed of the spectacle.

After finishing all seasons especially s5 they really pulled all strings and really did justice to Dominique's character and her intelligence & also finally gave amos his storyline

I really enjoyed the show I was staying up till 4am on my days off work binging each season, can't wait for Season 5!
The very envious part of this profession is that it's an outstanding chance to develop 'lifelong' working relationships. The only place I've ever experienced that 'familial' working relationship has been the military. These actors are so blessed.

So many things to love about this video. The Expanse is a well crafted world full of excellent writing, engaging stories, and complex characters played by actors you'd want to hang out with. What more could you ask for? Season four was incredible. I thought they handled the translation from book to screen especially well. You can really tell that a lot of care and love gets put into this show 💖🚀
