I work in aviation and labels like, "No Step" "Tie Down" "Rescue" and weight and balance figures are everywhere. All of the warning and mechanical decals are really what caught my eye on this show and made it feel so much more real!! Awesome work to the props department and keep it up!
I love that Adam's so excited to ask his questions but also "gets out of the way" when an interviewee starts to respond. Plenty of other people would keep talking until their question was completely out.
What always amazed me about The Expanse: The books are able to convey a believable sci-fi universe and society, but the show brings all that to life *so well*. A character is on a kind of subway, and the announcements over the speakers are in English, Chinese and Belter. Consider the takeout container: it is a clearly Asian design and shows how much the cultures have combined on Mars, because there's only Martian culture on Mars, no separate national cultures. The patches and signs fit in and carry meaning within this universe, there are warning signs where they should be. There are brand names all over the place which all are able to tell the viewer what they are at first glance. The Belter ships are gritty and greasy and dirty, the Earth ships are rather unfuturistic traditional design, the Mars ships are super high tech. You could say The Expanse... expanded on the books. And it's beautiful.
Yeah this show is absolutely amazing. Plus the books are kind of hard to adapt since there's a fair bit of inner thoughts so I definitely applaud them for successfully putting it all to film from that factor alone.
as a graphic designer, i'm both devastated because her job and work is infinitely cooler than anything i've ever done, but also super heartened because her process and technique sounds very similar to mine.
@@HEATSEEKER00 The Expanse isn't a documentary and she's not designing things for 'real' clients. Her job is to fake the stuff in the show so it feels lived in and familiar to the audience, and she's doing it really, really well. Please leave your envy out of the comments section in future.

really hope my life comes full circle and i can do cool stuff like you guys one day. idk if that day will ever come. things have been so bad lately. nobody will pay you for your dreams or for being a good person, finding suitable work to make my dreams happen is so hard when dealing with anxiety, depression and very likely PTSD. but if i can find some opportunity i could atleast put some good into this world. just like you guys, your awesome videos make me happy.
Soooo,... This would be the talented artist and geek who added the Starship Troopers reference to the media reports on Naomi's comms, with the "Would you like to know more?" tag.
They are doing such an amazing job on the show, not only with graphics design, but with everything. A simple thing like a warning label or stickers on work clothes, might seem like a trivial thing, but they need to look like they fit in the universe. I don't notice the patches on clothes very much or the warning lables, you see them at a glance, and personally I think that's when it's done right. You watch a scene of whatever, warning lables on the walls or something just telling you it's something a person would need to handle carefully (or what ever it would be about). If it doesn't look natural, it would stick out like a sour thumb, and that's defiantly not what you want. This is what I think they do so right in the show! The sets, everything in the universe they've created feels like it belongs in the right place, that's why I love the show so much. That and great story obviously.
As a graphic designer for 15 years, it’s been a dream of mine to do it in this industry, so far all I’ve managed is movie poster artwork, but it’s still my dream to do on set/prop graphic design!
