I installed the blue spring upgrade on my 2004 F-250 6.0 last week. I can say I noticed the improvement in performance and increased fuel mileage! I am currently 80 miles farther on this tank of diesel versus my last tank prior to the install. All with the same hauling and daily driving! Best $80 I have spent in a while!
Great instructions. Just did it this morning on a 2006 that I bought at surplus auction for pretty cheap. I had been concerned earlier when I noticed that the air filter box wasn't seated quite right, thinking some dirty air might bypass the filter. Turns out that wasn't an issue -- when I removed the box to install the blue spring, I discovered that there was no filter in there to bypass :-)
This video helped me install my OEM blue spring. I couldn't get a pry bar to help but I just collapsed the rad hose by hand to get to the t27. Thanks for posting mate.
Long live the King of 6.0!!!! Learned more about 6.0 from Ron and also this channel than ever before. I swapped my first turbo this year. Going to rebuild the one that came off with all the upgrades and goodies. This job is a part of the next round of upgrades for our old girl. She’s been faithful and loyal to the T.
Great tips!! I miss diesel tech Ron too! Another 6.0 tip! You need a a good old seat or couch cushion to lay on when working on the engine or your ribs will be bruised the next day!!
We had an injector go out in our '03 Excursion 6.0L, clogged the egr and pouring fuel smoke out the exhaust. So, we had the shop do an egr delete and replace the whole bank, 4, injectors on one side. Half a year later, wife hits a deer and we get that fixed, I'm driving it around for errands then home and the FPR is leaking badly. Well, I knew I should've done this kit when we bought it 3 years ago.
If you do this conversion make sure that you use the International/ Ford parts. I recently working on a 06 6.0L and looked at the fuel spring to make sure it was good to go. The spring that I took out was blue but comparing it to a real International blue spring the aftermarket "blue spring" was a lot weaker and the coils were a lot thinner in diameter. So make sure that the spring that you are putting in is a real International blue spring replacement spring and not just a "blue Spring".
I would like to see a complete installation video of a fuel delivery setup like fass or air dog and/or which one might be better for the 6.0 powerstroke. And what ever else upgrades or mild performance upgrades for a still reliable everyday driver and tow rig
Great how to. Helped with my install. Just noticed in the video that your oil filter cap is a taller one, and from what I’ve been reading on these 6.0s it’s not good. Best to stick with factory. Thoughts? Never mind. I just watched the video where you address it. Lol. You guys are awesome

I second this, my 6.0 has 275xxx miles, was leaking from the bottom of the regulator. Easy job for sure, worked on my own vehicles for years. The two nuts on the compressed fitting for the fuel line were essentially seized together. I could not get them to separate no matter what, unfortunately I too ended up having the fuel line bend and crimp at the elbow. Not a big deal, just another trip to the store for some universal fuel line and hose clamps. Cut off 2” of bent/crimped elbow section and replaced with new flex line. Added a good half an hour to the job but worked great! I ended up having to vice the nuts soaked in WD-40 to get them separated just fyi, that was the worst part! Hi, I just bought another 6.0 Diesel 2005 F-450 Runs Rough, Bought it cheap. I am looking for upgrades to salvage this engine or try to find out if I need to replace the engine. Previous 1 owner says he has never done anything to the engine except maintenance, change oil, fuel filters, etc; He said it died on him several times, so he parked it, bought a '16 Duramax, and put the F-450 in his backyard. After about 8 months, I finally bought the truck where i thought I needed to be. I got it running and Now it's all discovery, and finding out where to start with which parts to put on it.
I think it’s a good upgrade for any truck. The springs loose their elasticity over time and use and updating the spring keeps you in the correct fuel pressure.
Did you have to replace the fuel filter cap or just put a new o-ring in when you noticed the weep hole. I have the same issue. Used the vid to replace my spring thanks!
Hi Wade. Thank you for these videos. They are most helpful. I drank the cool aide and pulled the trigger. I just finished installing an oil bypass and coolant filter kit. Next up, the Blue spring replacement kit project. Wade, because I don't know the maintenance history of the truck, I was planning on replacing both fuel filters as part of this install. I cracked the upper filter cap. 2 questions. I think it was because I should have started with the lower filter first to relieve the pressure in the system. Is this correct? And, should I do so during this installation or just move forward as shown in the video and start with the blue spring replacement and then move on to the filters? Thank you.
Might as well do the bottom 1st easier to catch the fuel down there and it Leave it off down there when you open the upper cap it might siphon the fuel in the bowl when you open the filter cap.
Great vid. Just tackled a new water separator cause the allen head plug was stripped and i had some goop that needed cleaned out. I think this will be my next project. No idea if this has already been done to my truck already in the past by the PO but don't guess it would hurt to do it.
@@nickconrad94 From factory there is no blue spring for higher pressure. I have one of the last 2007 trucks and it didn't have the upgrade spring. Someone has to decide to change the spring. Most do not because they are unaware of the benefits or they do not like the cost of paying another to do the work. If you haven't done this go ahead and do it.

Question: What exactly is the "upgrade"? sorry if I missed it and i'm not trying to be negative but rather further my knowledge.. I bought a new ford BSK and I'm all for replacing but I've yet to hear what the upgrade is verses the original?
The BSK increases fuel delivery pressure to the injectors by 10 psi or so. Plus is a upgrade to a wore out regulator spring with high mileage on it that doesn’t allow correct fuel pressure to the injectors.
Great video, quick question, I bought a used ‘03 6.0, and doing a few things to it.. is there any way to tell if the blue spring kit has been installed without taking it apart
no, youll have to take it apart. but if youre going to take it apart to look at it, might as well buy the upgrade kit and replace it since youre already there.. its a very cheap fix
what is the fuel line part number that you loosen and tighten with the hold back wrench that goes into the fuel pressure regulator? couldnt get a hold back wrench on it it twisted pretty bad. thanks!
Yes, this is a new product. New in condition not new in theory. And where the springs lose their elasticity over time, we suggest changes those once your start losing fuel pressure which is so critical for the 6.0 trucks.
Pressure in the coolant bottle is normal. However, if the coolant bottle is pressurized to the point it is pushing coolant out of the overflow or the pressure stays in the coolant bottle for a extended time period after shut down, then those symptoms need to be analyzed for a possible head gasket failure, or to figure out where the combustion gasses are coming from.
Just came across this video and I need to know if it is at all possible to get a replacement green "O" ring, I pulled everything apart on my daughters truck 6.0 and went down the rabbit hole thoroughly cleaned everything and, in the process, I have lost the green "O" ring tried one from the dealer of which doesn't fit was suggested from the dealer to use an "O" ring from a kit for A/C repairs. This truck has 150K miles and is total stock, fleet maintained (Tucson Electric Power). I replaced the standpipes and dummy plugs and fixed slightly long starts.
I don’t know that its fuel related, or related to Blue Spring should I say. Are you getting it after the truck is warmed up? Is the truck consuming anything? Oil, coolant, etc?
@@thoroughbreddiesel Turns out the EGR Cooler died. Replaced it with a Bulletproof EGR cooler with Engine Oil System Upgrade (Heavy-Duty Air/Oil Cooling) as well as rebuilding the turbo just in case (loads of oil on the compressor side). Everything doing good now.
Can you answer a question for me replace left pump And sending unit now and pump is cycling getting foggy diesel the truck will run for about 3 to 4 minutes then die upper filter housing nothing but air can you help me
Check the HFCM and make sure the fuel filter is seat correctly and that you have no leaks. If it draws air any where between the tank pick up tube and the pump in the HFCM the system will not prime. This may be the cause of what you are seeing. I had it happen on my rig.

Any help would be great oh the truck is an off road truck so it has 33s on it. Though I don't play in the mud if I can avoid it.
Will this same kit fit on my 04 VT365 (International Engine/ Original 6.0) ??
Yes
Would be helpful in defining what you mean by older model or newer model what years you’re referring to before I get into the project.
Anything after 05 is a newer model.
@@ThePrestoner50 wouldn't it be late 04? Assembled in 10/03+?
Added a blue spring on my new to me 2006 6.0 f250. I'm getting 65 PSI. After a week I am getting light smoke at idle and first accel. Does the computer need to relearn? This truck has 150K miles and is total stock, fleet maintained (Tucson Electric Power). I replaced the standpipes and dummy plugs and fixed slightly long starts.
I don’t know that its fuel related, or related to Blue Spring should I say. Are you getting it after the truck is warmed up? Is the truck consuming anything? Oil, coolant, etc?
@@thoroughbreddiesel Turns out the EGR Cooler died. Replaced it with a Bulletproof EGR cooler with Engine Oil System Upgrade (Heavy-Duty Air/Oil
Cooling) as well as rebuilding the turbo just in case (loads of oil on the compressor side). Everything doing good now.
Could you guys do a banjo bolt upgrade video for 05-07 trucks please?
If Im not gonna replace the housing, is it a must to disconnect from the fuel line or can I just undo the 4 bolts and leave it connected to the line?
Uh that spring you installed didn’t look very blue to me….
Just did the install yesterday on my 2007. No leaks all good on the install. BUT NOW THE TEMP GAUGE IS NOT WORKING!! Coincidence? But my Torque is still with a Veepeak OBD is still showing coolant temp. But no oil temp.
I thought the newer 6.0 trucks had the metal CAC cold side intercooler pipe? I thought the plastic version was the older 6.0 trucks?
that nut won't break for me. any suggestions? can't really get a wrench on the nut closest to the regulator squarely, to stop it from spinning with the other nut
I learned a long time ago to wear gloves, diesel stinks😉
Seriously one of the easiest mods for the 6.0
Do I need to bleed air out of lines and how
The system will process the air on its own after the install.
@@thoroughbreddiesel thank you sir trying to get bk together now
