We love walking around the nature trails and observing the wildlife around the rec center! We drove from Richmond down! We love the Fenny area! It's so beautiful! Another terrific video ❤

      We fell in love with this area BEFORE we even knew that's where we'd be living. Fenney Rec Center has a firepit that you can reserve. They will start the fire up for you and you can invite your friends over for a "fireside chat". We just did that last week.

    Karen and Roy, love all your vlogs since day 1. So calming to ride along with you in your golf car. You mention around minute 24:00 that across the street from current Richmond, a mini Richmond is still to be built. That's what we are waiting for since my silly retirement didn't coincide with Richmond sales last year. Does it look like anything is happening in the new area, any thoughts of when they will begin? Again, thanks for what you do. Us Village Wannabe's can't get enough...

      Thanks Brenda! :)
      We watched them clear the area months ago and then everything over there just stopped. We thought, maybe it's because of the Buena Vista extension work, but that's been done for weeks and still nothing.
      The only thing we heard, and I think it was on a Goldwing Nut video, was that they are to be Courtyard Villas.

    Karen is a walking talking map. 😀 I was impressed. Thanks for the golf cart ride along. I rented in Marsh bend last year, at Samuel Villas. Walking distance to Magnolia Plaza. I recognized mostly everything on your ride. The strip of stores with the new coffee shop was in its final stages of construction. Glad to see there’s a pizza shop. That area needed one. There is a gas station near Edna's that you sort of need to know it is there. It looks like an maintanence entrance and is on the left hand side, maybe 1/8 to 1/4 mile past Ednas. Cheaper and easier as there is an attendant to help. not positive about the hours.

    • @ToRetirementAndBeyond
      @ToRetirementAndBeyond  Год назад

      Kathy, Karen is amazing. No idea how she does it - even after all these years. Yes, we know about the gas near Edna's, but since it's only open during the day, and we work for a living, we can't get there. :(

    • @ToRetirementAndBeyond
      @ToRetirementAndBeyond  Год назад +2

      Good morning :)
      There are Facebook groups for buying golf carts - and we bought a used one. The problem comes when you have an issue with your cart. It's hard to get good service around here The good places will have you waiting weeks. So we recommend buying from Villages Golf Cars because you will get serviced after the sale. This is based on our first hand experiences.
      Finding a good doctor is also hard. Do a Google search - read the reviews - make some calls. I believe in interviewing my doctors. Roy found a doctor he likes right away. Karen decided to go to Villages Health Care. It took her awhile to get an appointment, but now that she's in the services and referrals have bene great. Roy Can't go there as they don't take his Medigap insurance - only Advantage plans.

    Thinking of doing a lifestyle visit but we are also traveling in a RV. Should we stay in one of their homes or park our RV close by? Also where can we stay if we do decide to stay in the RV. Which one do you think would give us better experience?

    • @ToRetirementAndBeyond
      @ToRetirementAndBeyond  Год назад +2

      If you really want to experience The Villages, ditch the RV. The Villages offers a "Lifestyle Preview Visit" for $99/night they will put you up in a beautiful home, provide you with a golf cart and bicycles, and you can live for up to a week AS A VILLAGER.
      If you insist on RVing - there is a Thousand Trails RV park not far - and plenty of others in the area.
