Bought the watch two months ago. It’s a tad bit smaller than I thought it would be, akin to that of the SKX013. Conversely, it wears a bit larger than the 013. Size wise aside, I love the watch. It’s very practical, tasteful, and can be worn from the most casual of occasions to even the most business professional type of occasion. And man that blue is delightful. Goes great with a navy or charcoal suit. The watch reminds me of the 90s Omega “Bond” Seamaster with a blue that’s not ostentatious but subtle and with an overall package that can be worn, as mentioned before, in various occasions, as well as can survive the elements. Long-story short, it’s a great watch and I love it!
Seiko definitely needs more affordable (the SBP14x is not crazy expensive, but it's not exactly cheap either) smaller divers. This fits the bill, but it would be great if they had an automatic in the 38-41 range with a 4R movement. Nice move by Seiko to include sapphire here. This is a great grab and go. Easily fixed, but it would be nicer to see the bracelet be a touch better at the MSRP price point. I think it's a great looking watch too. The grooved rings on the bezel are a nice design detail.
Guys this watch is not new. It's a reincarnation of ALBA Divers AEFD530 Solar. ALBA is a subsidiary of SEIKO and they are very common abroad. I brought my SOLAR ALBA 200M from a seller in Japan I paid like a 100bucks. My ALBA has the legendary SEIKOs v147 calibre 495 bux for the seiko version.
@@EscapementWatch Really....? Same dimensions tho. The differences tho, they are very subtle. Mine has a sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel insert with the v147 caliber
Beautiful watch and thank you for saying “aluminum” properly. I don’t know why other reviewers jumped on this trend of changing the pronunciation but thank you!
Wish they wouldn't have included the dive extension, makes the bracelet uncomfortable (and it's impossible to work anyway). I am gonna try your replacement clasp solution.
Not really. The hand can be re-pressed. But with lower end quartz the second hand is effected by gravity, position and over time will naturally drift. Only high end quartz like grand seiko wont do this as they have built in features to counter the 3 things I just mentioned.
@@EscapementWatch thanks for your reply. I bought my first watch 11 years ago (seiko monster), and just start collecting watches this year (2 G-shock , 1 seiko solar) so I'm just a newbie here. :p I can't afford grand seiko yet lol
Maybe seiko thinks a pressed clasp is fine. Its just as strong and ultra thin. There is no real benefit to milled clasp all it does is add thickness. Seiko needs the dive extension for the ISO pro certification and thats what I meant by fix the clasp. Because I find it uncomfortable.
Has anybody noticed an issue with the crown? I’ve heard that due to crown wobble in the extended position it doesn’t catch the threats correctly resulting in it only screwing down half way. Has anyone else has experienced this issue i’d love to know!
@@EscapementWatch interesting… I made a similar comment on Plastic Indices channel. There he shows it. He replied saying he handled three models and all of them had the same issue.
Seiko coats their bezels in titanium carbonate. The SS bezel of the 63mas has titanium carbon as well. But the insert itself is base aluminum with the thin grooves. It is very hard/expensive to machine steel with those thin grooves. The other watches that are flat (no grooves) are coated in titanium carbon base SS like spb187. And then they do anodized aluminum which has a grainy texture. Lastly pure ceramic. Those are the 4 main types of Seiko bezel inserts.
got one, I handled over 40 Seikos in a lot of price ranges. This one is the first Seiko I was disappointed with out of the box. I love the design choices, don't mind the price (got 20 percent off) and love the fact that it's solar since I already own a lot of automatics. But boy, the finishing ..., mine is below the level of snk(l) models when it comes to the finishing. The brushing is sloppy on the case sides and the hands, the teeth of the bezel are extremely roughly and unevenly polished (pitting and burrs), the second and minute hands are slightly bent downwards and show scuffs. Honestly I haven't seen this before in a Seiko. On the positive side, the wearability is excellent. It's the most comfortable Seiko diver out there at the moment and it looks pretty awesome.
I've tried this watch on before and it is gorgeous! It would have been the perfect diver or one watch collection for me if it was automatic. Such a shame :-(
@@EricPolaris I've got a couple of quartz watches and don't have any autos or mechanical watches. I recently got a Seiko 5 dress KX and they are incredibly gorgeous and extremely versatile. Am currently looking for an auto diver 🙂
If you like the simple milsub look check out the solar options from Vaer. Their D4 model is solar with measurements of 38mm by 46 lug to lug. They also have better bracelet options with a good taper and sapphire all for around 300. Most of their watches as assembled in the US if you care. The lume will not be on par with seiko.
What is the overall weight of the watch in grams? Is it less than or more than 100 grams with stainless steel bracelet on it??? Need to know before i purchase…
@@EscapementWatch Sorry, a cheap joke. My AD has all the colours of these in and there's not a dud in the bunch. They look really good. Great video, as ever. Cheers.
38mm - great for me. Wait, no solid end links? quartz? Cheap pressed clasp? Horrid fake 1 piece bracelet pieces pretending to be 3 piece braclet pieces? ARE YOU ACTUALLY KIDDING ME? Might as well lean over and show your Japanese flag! I feel bad for any sucker that buys this. :(
@@EscapementWatch we put up with crap because we want a reduced sized Diver. This Seiko is a perfect example - great dimensions, poor watch. It's a shame man :(
If seiko didn't do the ISO certification the watch would be Over $100 dollars less. But having the title is important to Seiko. So people know they make pro divers that passed the over-pressure test, the 5000G damage test, the rapid temperature change and the salt water tests the certification does. I would trust a 200m seiko diver over a 300m microbrand diver for example to not leak after use. I tried it and is definitely small, unfortunately, otherwise I would have bought it.
I’m going to buy this after I finish this video this is my second seiko after skx009
Great practical hardy piece! Love the PADI version with that "globe" PADI dial

me too, i had one black color nice sne575P1

I ordered this today.

There is more than one "proper" pronunciation of the word.

To get the DIVERS 200 official Pro Rating they had to include it. But yeah totally don't need it.
It looks great! Would love to see an automatic version, kind of like the tissot prx lineup
That would be cool!
Then you'd lose how thin and comfortable it is.

I don’t see the point of having an automatic. It will not be accurate as almost all seiko mvmt
